Gotta love the gun brick that is the Tripathia. PDCs do exist in the sojourn but the Tripathia was built for one this only and that is to be a simple gun platform to be in line formation with other ships that can cover it's weaknesses
What’s good y’all. Truly awesome to see my work on here and see The Sojourn get some much deserved attention. Most the comments are right as far as the design of the ship. No pdcs as it’s meant to fill a very specific role in a fleet. That of a simple and mobile gun platform with a heavy focus on broadsiding. It is meant to have thrust gravity layout but the interior would not have been nearly as effective. And there’s no good way to get the habs to spin. The wood texture and greenery is similarly used on submarines as a phycological comfort to the sailors as being locked in a metal tube with no natural features will drive you insane. Literally. Same concept would apply to spacecraft. All the guns function with AI turret control and can be controlled individually but not as a group. This can be done from the quarter deck.
Sojourn fan: The ship indeed has no PDC. In the setting that is provided by support craft like PD boats and fighters. In the setting, the faction the fields these is very stuck on their ways of ship design and obsesed with making fleet formations, not individual allrounded ships. And on several occasions it has payed the price for it, but not enough to actually change. Basically every sin against reason commited by the royal navy during the age of sail applies to them. And the in-world torpedoes are kinda of crap anyway relative to the punishment these ships can take
Additionally, the coilguns can canonically fire fragmentation rounds (possibly called 'grapeshot' considering the Age of Sail themes the Sojourn uses) that serve to handily obliterate incoming missiles.
that central thing you thought was the bridge is supposed to be a rotating hab unit while the ship isn't under thrust my guess is the creator just didn't want to go that far with so many sub grids already also space dock (one of the creators of the series i think) has detailed ship breakdowns for all the ships of the audio drama
The actual bridges of these ships have wooden masts in on their bridge, or rather quarterdeck in their lingo, because they have strongly inherited traditions from age of sail vessels.
Re: Is the ship upsidedown or not - It's always, and never. In-series, the ship is actually built almost like a skyscraper (the decks are perpendicular to it's length, i.e. when the ship is being looked at long-ways, everyone is standing sideways), because A. the ship is always flipping around for deceleration burns and B. their gravity comes from thrust. Also, go listen to the Sojourn, you'll love it (and its ships)
The Sojorn, the series where that is from is like The Expanse mixed with EVE online, it’s highly realistic and even realistic in terms of combat, it doesn’t have point defense because it’s supposed to be a fleet command vessel and long range gun platform and uses other smaller vessels serve to protect it. It has inertial damping but no gravity, those habs extend outwards and spin to provide spin gravity for the crew areas, and it’s not called “The Bridge” it’s called “The Quarterdeck” like on old sailing vessels. Also it doesn’t technically have a means of FTL but the Sojurn has a material that gets around that issue, it’s called “Drift” and it creates paragravitic fields that can shoot anything around it at an very fast velocity, but it can only fire stuff at a superliminal velocity if a large amount is constructed in a ring, Drift drives are one interpretation of this, there the exhaust of a torch engine is shot out at a superluminal velocity, but even though this makes ships a lot faster? They can’t go faster than light unless they themselves are shot through a ring of drift … I think you can see where I’m going with this? But I don’t have all day to write about the Sojurn, go listen to it!
I don't think drift drive exhaust is superluminal, but it is very fast - kind of like the magnetic exhaust acceleration Expanse Epstein drives use, except it's gravitomagnetic.
@@taiko1237 the exhaust is indeed accelerated to superluminal velocity to provide a massive speed boost, but it’s not enough to propel a ship itself faster than light, That particular part is where the Drift Gates come in, they operate on the exact same principle as the drift drive exhaust except its the ship itself being shot through the Jump ring at superluminal velocity instead of engine exhaust. And remains in a superluminal state unless it is decelerated to a rapid subluminal velocity when interacting with a system’s gravity well or until it’s caught by the Twin-gate in the destination system.
@@Kreachie I cite as the fact that you don't see the drive plumes of a ship in any of the animations appearing a significant distance behind the ship and oriented towards the back end of the ship, which is theoretically what a superluminal plume would look like - I think - that they are not superluminal. And I believe Drift Gates operate on the principle mentioned in the Drift lore short whereby Drift can 'create regions of space where apparent faster-than-light travel is possible'.

I must say this ship is good. I just don't like the wood color but everything else was good this ship may work well in battle hope to see it in action soon
Yeah it looks odd at first but they do a similar thing on military submarines. When you’re away from natural textures and open spaces for months or years you WILL start to suffer mentally. Anxiety, anger, confusion, depression etc. It serves as a subconscious comfort to the sailors so they can do their job effectively. A spacecraft would be no different. In short its function not aesthetic.
about the controllers ya cant control the group i dont know if everything is setup properly but if it is ya can only control it by going to a controller individually
I doubt you would want to or have time for it but if you can, do you think that you could do a review on a console SE build I have done called the E.R.S.S. Valkyrie?
You have to use either a hinge or a rotor with a small head attached. Both come in two parts. Remove the upper part then find the hinge or rotor in the control menu and select “add small head”

They do build all rounder ships, they’re just Frigates and Corvettes with Ships of the Line never intended to operate solo.
