when i got my new job i can easy save 600 dollar a month in about 2 years i will have more then 10.000 cant wait, i never had savings in my life, almost hitting 39 next month, wish i start saving more serious when i was younger, but everything is expensive, main costs are food, gas, car maintaince, and insurances
I didn't become financially independent till I was in my mid 40s after having a major financial setback during the covid , Thank God i'm now on my feet . In addition to buying my second house, I'm also making money on a monthly basis through passive income, and I've also met some of my goals. I really hope this motivates someone to know that it doesn't matter if you don't have any of these things yet; no matter your age, you can start today. Investing can help you change your future!
Wow, interesting indeed! Currently I'm in need of investment ideas or tips. Earlier this year I hesitated and failed to take any action until now. However, I'm determined to try some new as I am very open to various investment ideas . I want to be retired in my forties or fifties. I really wish I can achieve what you have achieved and I believe it will happen
It's essential to comprehend the complexities of investing. Having a trustworthy support system, such as a financial adviser, who can advise you is crucial, especially when choosing assets.
Thank you for your advice, it's challenging to find a reliable investment advisor here. Seeing the success you have achieved through investing I would love to have access to your investment advisor.
Generally, investing requires higher knowledge. For this reason, it's important to have a solid support structure to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (ALEX MARTIN TARLOR) an investment specialist who partners with a licensed wealth management firm. For the record, his experience has been the best for my finance
I searched for his name and found his website where I saw his qualifications and testimonials that looked impressive with many positive reviews , I have already reached out to him to discuss my financial goals , thanks you for pointing me to the right direction.
At 18 I had $12,000 saved up on my own making $10 an hour at a local pizza joint for 2.5 years while in high school. Now at 26, I’m barely able to save a quarter of that now that I have a mortgage, student loans, a car loan, etc.
Thanks for sharing this spreadsheet! Now saving €200/month, by January 2024, I will be able to save €400 as my renovation dept and credit card dept will be paid off!
thx I've been keeping track of my finances and budgeting since the start of the summer. I have a good idea of how much I can realistically save each month. I have a goal amount and will use this spreadsheet to try to get to that goal!
Step one, you advise to set up a savings account with a high interest rate but don't have that detail factor into the spreadsheet savings at all. How could one add that into the calculations? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the Sheet. That was fun. I recently told myself I wanted to put away 150k in ten years. Ill really have scrap to do it, but I think I can. I figured 1500 a month would do it, but your sheet gave me some leeway. If I do it, it'll only be 7.74 years.
I laughed so hard when you said, “what separates Augustin from other people on RUclips is I live in something called reality.” Then the word flashes on the screen in quotes 😂 Love it! I am so over the “100 envelope challenge save $5000 in three months” challenge popular on social media right now. Reality is that most people fail those unrealistic savings challenges b/c they don’t factor in their own lifestyle/budget/living expenses
Thanks for this video and special thanks for mentioning (finally, someone!) that _it takes time_! I've seen several videos along the line "how to save xk on a low income" and they usually provide helpful tips and good ideas how to live frugally but this is the first video where I see the timing factored in.
Hello from Tampa! Enjoy your vacation in my home state. Thank you for the budget spreadsheet. I use it daily in my quest to get out of debt. I’ll use this savings one as well (can’t make a copy on an iPhone, sadly).
I moved back home (late 30s), it does work with discipline and patience. The savings account really does help to see how much you save. I like your videos, great minds think alike haha. I put money into my savings after I get paid every 2 weeks, it adds up fast.
I saved that in 1998 working in a restaurant 10-12 hour shifts five days a week. I was twenty years old. I had a roommate and my part of the rent was $300 a month. No other bills to pay but food to buy. Same city, same job, same place to live would allow me to save $10k a year, but now it's not a lot of money.
I messed up bad when I was around 18. Didn’t know anything and maxed out credit cards and took out loans and was real dumb got to the point where my paychecks were not enough to even cover my bills each month so I was choosing which ones to pay and skipping others every month. Eventually I got to the point I was making good money but still paying way too many bills and was having a hard time saving. What I personally did to get me out of the hole was create a savings account through a seperate bank than my checking. Then made a very complex budget and lived off cheap food and cheap clothes for almost 2 years……now I’m comfortably able to save 2-3k each month. If anyone young is in here I’d definitely recommend saving as much as you can and not spend money on luxuries and wants without saving for them first.
I actually accomplished saving about $10K in about 2-3 years when I started a mutual fund. It essentially became my down payment for the vehicle I purchased at the beginning of the year. My plan right now is to rebuild my emergency fund. My goal is to start working towards a $10k emergency fund, while paying off that vehicle I purchased. Also, congrats on hitting 60k subscribers.
Many thanks for configuring the easy to use spreadsheet! It is useful. I feel you are one of the few you-tuber creators that genuinely looks out for your subscribers! Thanks again!!
Sound advice Austin. I have £8.2 K (which is about $10K) after 13 months. I'm not on a super wage, just been cutting out buying crap I don't need. 10K is a super amount to have, but whatever you save is better than not having anything and gives you a little bit of security👍
The work you do is so important in this economic climate. I'm blessed to have a great income at a young age, but I found your point about setting a realistic and consistent monthly contribution really helpful. I fall into the trap of telling myself to save as much as possible, and then failure to do so because of unexpected circumstances creates a frustrating and demotivating experience. It feels a lot better to set a bare minimum value that I am happy with, and just pat myself on the back when I'm able to contribute more. Really changes the psychological experience of saving.
I think the biggest obstacle I face is my lack of patience. I get tired and frustrated and start to slip into old habits and desires. Telling myself that I am not moving fast enough or that my work is not paying off is a way I keep myself from leaving my comfort zone. Thank you for the reminder.
Total bull, I saved 50 grand by the age of 20 delivering pizzas but again the kicker is that by living at home you have no expenses. All I had was a $75 computer payment and a $30 phone bill as I recall it. The occasional repair on the car was a business expense. 300 dollars saved every month is a lot of money on a consistent basis when you have bills to pay.
If you aren't making at least $4.80 per hour, it will take you a minimum of a year to earn $10,000.00. (Assume 40 hours a week, working all 52 weeks in a year.)
So great! The record keeping is so important! Before I started keeping a budget, I thought that I didn't make enough. I was so wrong! Once I pay off my car loan (18 months), I'll be able to save several hundred dollars a month on a low income. Thanks!
Thanks for the information. I have my income check directly deposited into my checking account. From there I have a certain amount automatically withdrawn every month and put into my savings account.
My only problem is patience. Before i can wait until the next oay check to build, i spend it on something i don't need or use as much. I'm so annoying with myself. I want to leave this comment here and come back here in 1 year on December 1st 2024.

I did exactly the same thing here. 10 months of £1,000 to get to £10,000. It's not rocket science. Just slightly above minimum wage and live with parents so no major expenses. Just don't buy anything unnecessary.

You didn’t add the monthly interest.
If you do what Austin says and save $300 a month for 2.5 years at an interest rate of 4.5% you would get, roughly $530
The equation was a little too complex.
