Thanks you for the videos. I'm learning and gaining confidence with each one.
Thanks for the comment. I need to go through and add the info. Sorry I forgot about this one!
Very good. Good descriptions. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Excellent!!! Thanks for tips.
Excellent video! Thank you sir!!
Oil extractor pump: 2 comments: The Mercedes shop in The Woodlands, TX used one on my GLC. I did one in-house oil change. I did the rest of the oil changes myself. One test, I used the pump extractor. Then I went to the drain plug. I think it as less than an ounce of oil that was left behind.
you are a good teacher bro!!
Very good job👍🏻
I changed my oil by myself 1st time for any car, literally followed these instructions to the tee & finished in a hr. The 27mm screw for the oil filter gave me little problem and opening the hood oil cap while draining helps. Great video👌
Excellent vid keep em coming just saved me 250 thats what the dealership wants here in cali 😂
Yikes! Will be doing a transmission fluid change soon! The price is still pretty cheap but you definitely save those service costs!
Here in NY they asking for a lovely $ 800 bucks.
WOW!!
@@TheDurbinCompound In Vancouver, A service is 550 CAD, (440 USD)!
Bro did you spin the 13mm drain bolt owards the engine bay or the trunk?
Right is tight left is Loose but is being a sucker
Nice vid👍 if you can find the Mann filter cheaper, go for it. It’s exactly the same thing in the box.
Yeah buddy! Thanks for the comment bro!
What is the model year? C300 2019 facelift has new engine M264 (vs M274 before facelift)
do you recommend 5w-30??

good video, but consider using a oil extractor pump (quite cheap online next time via dipstick instead of removing the sump bolt, its quicker and cleaner :)
I am not a fan of this method as I feel you miss a lot of oil and sludge in the sump
@@TheDurbinCompound no lie I was almost thinking I was draining my transmission due to the unexpected shape my C300 differs from your sump pan I was shocked cause I was looking for the same shape as yours I'm assuming maybe Mercedes uses what's on hand vs engine? 😅 or is that why your C300 is a W205 and mine is not? I just know mine was made in Alabama lmao
Semper fi brother
what is the drain plug washer part number? i Just got a 2017 E300, and i dont have any mx manuals yet. thanks for the videos
Just ask the dealer for the crush washer. Every vehicle uses the same little copper washer. They are under $1
In an other video I saw them using an oil extraction pump for draining the old oil. Which way is better?
I feel you potentially miss a lot of oil in the pan by using and extraction pump. I prefer to drain at the drain plug
how much were the tools for the nm
Say hypothetically, When you do your own Service A or B but later have a possible issue down the road that say is covered under warranty through the dealer, will they honor the warranty still or give you crap and void it since you did your own service prior?? Thanks!
I have had no issue with this. I provide more thorough records than the dealer does. The notes on a service record at the dealer are vague and sometimes just leave out important information.
Hey I over tighten the drain plug and cracked the oil pan a bit and now is leaking oil. You know if it’s too hard to replace the pan at home?
Is it still leaking?
Thinking about buying one soon I needed this vid.. by the way where did you get your torque wrench from..
Snap-On dealer
i have a 2016 c300 and i'm so confused because i took the splash shield off and my oil pan does not look like yours underneath I do see a small looking oil pan thing that but the drain plugs pointing towards the passenger side
Weird. I haven’t changed my oil in awhile but I’m 99% my plug is on the driver side.
@@TheDurbinCompound yeah this my first time changing the oil in this car...do you mind if i DM on ig with a picture of underneath my car
So torque to 25Nm or 30Nm?
Great video! Where did you get the crush seal for the oil pan drain plug?
I get mine at the dealer. They are less than $1USD.
Thanks🤘🏻
Does your c class have a dip stick to check oil manually?
Yes. Engine oil. Transmission fluid no.
What year is this car
Hi Durbin, you forgot to mention the model number for the oil filter. Could you put it please? Thanks.
A 270 180 01 09
How do you jack it up from the front end to Insert jack stands on the sides ? I can’t seem to find the jack point
It is actually 2 little bumper pads on the rocker that are maybe 2.5” apart. My jack spans it just fine with the cup. They make the inserts as well that have a large pad on them. I have never invested in them though
TheDurbinCompound thank you , & would you be able to tell me the torque spec to re tighten the lugs
I accidently put the oil in the side where the filter goes, all 7 quarts. Do you think this is a problem.
No not an issue
knowing how Benz wisely removed the transmission deepstick but kept an engine oil fil cap... I'd use that
👍
Apreciate this bro got a 2016 c300 with AMG package I been changing my oil since I was 17 ,I just need to know the size of the socket for the oil filter
27mm
I have many videos on the car. Check out my car mechanics playlist
@@TheDurbinCompound thank you , do you happen to know size of drain plug ? I just removed the front bumper 2 weeks ago and changed out the grill for the diamond grill looks pretty cool
I think it’s a 15mm. I could be wrong. The plug is long, you unscrew it a ways. The stream of oil will shoot out far toward the driver side so be ready.
Great video, one thing. The oil filter housing is 25 NM + 5 NM. So, 30 NM.
👍👍👍
Why is it that they put 25 NM + 5 NM instead of just 30NM?
I think the service manual says 25Nm then loosen a 1/4 of a turn and then torque to 30Nm. I think it is to make sure the cap o-ring is properly seated. Who knows, that’s the only thing that makes sense
So torque to 25Nm or 30Nm?
oil filter spec for 2017 Mercedes c300 4matic 6.5 litres
Have you’ve done the transmission vid yet 👍

Do you recommend oil extracting instead of draining?
I only recommend draining
Extracting equates to taking a shower and putting your old underware back on.
How do you reset the service reminder
ruclips.net/video/J2kq6zogYOY/видео.html
Hope you are not relying on two hydraulic jacks to hold up the car, don't you have jack stands?.
I thought Mercedes used a fleece filter for the C300?
How many miles do you do between oil changes 10k?
5-10k but I just did an oil change on a family members 2015 c300 that drove 18k miles before i changed it and it was still running smooth, but recommended is 5-10k
Did you change front rotor yet ?

Hi question what size was the drain bolt?
He says not to far into the video.
Do I have to use that fancy tool to make it to 30 nm or can I just do it without it ?
Either or! Good and tight
TheDurbinCompound Ei Ei captain! Thank you so much
I thought Mercedes used fleece filters, not paper element?
What year is this car?
2016
Fig-neutonmeters should be the standard measurement
You didn’t show where the oil goes back in. Sorry I’m no mechanic so I need to see it
You pour it into the engine. It was in the video.
