    Great video! Only thing I would add is to start the car and cycle all the gears for about 30 seconds in each gear. That way you are mixing all the new fluid into all parts of the trans before setting the level.

    Your other video made my first oil change so easy. I just watched you. And now that 5W-40 flowing through my engine just makes it rev freely.
    Previously i had the wrong oil in it which made the engine bog or have trouble accelerating.
    5W-30 that difference in viscosity makes a hugh difference

    I found a video of a teacher, he's on a wheel chair. He said there was an engineer who cunduct a seminar meeting in California. Saying that the transmission fluid has the cooling like radiator going to the front of the engine. So, the proceedure after filling up you run the engine untill it reach the certain temperature and drian the excess. The line going to front has a valve that close and open when the oil gets hot. Reaching the temperature the valve will open and you draining the oil in the line. You end up that less oil you fill up.

    This procedure is a partial fluid change...i noticed the color of TF overflowing from filler turned darker after the engine was restarted, this is the old fluid that is not drained, i.e in TC & oil cooler circuits, which mixes with new fluid in pan.

    Is this the 7G Tronic Plus? The 722.9 (the classic 7G Tronic, not the "+" Version) does have ther red fluid. And BTW, this is not "changing" only renewal at best... You left a lot of old fluid in the TQ.

    • @thomasnymark
      @thomasnymark 10 месяцев назад

      I think this is 7G Tronic + (BLUE OIL) 7G Tronic (red oil), difference is to se in the pan, the + has lager oval recesses in the bottom seen from outside the pan, color of the overflow plastic filler is green. 7G Tronic has small circular recesses and the plastic overflow filler i apparently white. Remember to take of the oil pump as well and drain the converter to get all old oil out, and run it through gears when filling.

      This doesn't get all the fluid out. This service calls for a full flush via the cooler lines along with what you see here. Some also drain the torque converter which has a drain plug. (Have to hand crank the engine to reveal it.) Your local MB dealership should confirm this if you want to hear it from them as I did.

      @@stuckinamomentt yes. There's a great fcp euro vid where they also do only what's in the pan. Not that I fully trust dealerships, but 2 different ones local to me told me they do compete flushes as instructed by Mercedes & the WIS instructions to confirm it are easily found on the forums.
      There's a GREAT vid showing the full job by the FlyingMechanicDiy (think it's called) & a few other vids showing the torque converter drain rather than oil cooler flush, but the principle is the same.

    When you drain there was a lot of fluid came out before you tip the pipe with screwdriver. That was the actual amount of fluid. And when you fill up you let it drianed the fluid that were above the pipe. That means the amount you filled up is less than the exact level. If you drian the new fluid and compare to the old fluid the new fluid is a lot lesser than the old fluid.

    • @joe19092
      @joe19092 2 года назад

      The amount of fluid that came out is the quantity used when the car is running. When not running, the fluid will always be above the drain plug.
      Compairing both old and new fluid levels should give you around 95% accuracy if you do the maths well. Great video

      As I have been told by my dealer, the transfer case is fed from this fluid. I was told it does not get changed separately

    Unfortunately you didn’t show how to drain the torque converter and that IS possible. Also need to remove the electric oil pump and drain there too. The overfill meter is designed for an oil temperature 45 degrees EXACTLY.

      If torq converter is drained will transmission not shift?

      Preventative maintenance interval. Every 40,000miles per the maintenance schedule.

    Definitely a lift job. Can be done on floor jacks but it looks like I'll be paying to have this done :(

    Did you reuse the fill-drain gasket, the fill neck and the pan bolts? Some other videos recommend replacing them. Your thoughts?

      Replaced the bolts and pan gasket as I did in the video. I reuse the plastic fill neck.

    Good video but you didn't show how to change all fluid. Should be 9 litres. How to drain from torque converter? On your video 4litres of dirty fluid still left in the transmission

      @Voyuuk, thanks what’s the process to remove that ?

    • @petedagreek4583
      @petedagreek4583 3 года назад +3

      9 liters is a dry fill. As in a completely empty transmission, after an over haul or rebuild. They take 5 quarts for a regular service, 7 if u drain the TC.

      @@petedagreek4583 Sir, they told me that it is required to change the entire transmission oil/ dry fill every 3 years or 40,000 kms for my C300d AMG Line. Are they ripping me off or is it the correct standard for my car? Would you advice pls!
