I’m Kun Khmer my ancestors still their habitat near by Angkor Wat location in Siem Riep , nowadays my siblings still practices these Apsara also since I was 8 years old even my siblings dance as well and understand clearly these parole of the song it’s in Khmers . Accepted the truth that Khmer Empire was a massive country and massive territories that’s the starting point since histories how many times Khmer Empire were attacked and raided by few neighboring countries including Thai and how many times Khmer Empire has heavily influenced their Art culture, martial Art , classical dance as these Apsara , clothing toward other neighboring nations . THIS WAS THAI CLASSICAL DANCE GROUP recorded by French filmofgrapher in 1920, not 1945. Siam sent teachers to Cambodia to teach traditional dances and form The Khmer Royal Ballet.
A bunch of rubbish. France in fact was wary of Siamese design on Cambodia, having wrested control of Battambang and Angkor in 1907. Siam again laid claim to these two provinces in WWII but was ejected after the Allies victory.

There are multiple Chinese records as proof of exemplary Khmer empires predating your time of existence.. India will also attest that we integrated with their culture which is another strong civilization that exists well before Thailand.. these are facts not opinions based on pride.

Just ignore this troll who keeps claiming Cambodia borrows all things under the sky from Thailand when in reality the truth is quite the other way around. I do feel sorry for Thai people (not all Thais, obviously) given how they have been miseducated and misinformed by the Thai/Siamese ruling elite across the generations. The Khmers or Khmer Mons were the oldest ethnic group who lived in what is now Cambodia, the Mekong Delta or part of Southern Vietnam today, all of Laos and modern day Thailand. This ethnic group are known to have settled there before recorded history. This is acknowledged and well documented in credible historical records and are not subject to fanciful interpretations! For much of the Khmer people’s presence on this region of South East Asia the Thais or Siamese - like the Vietnamese - were still living on the periphery of China where they remained in Chinese bondage or subjugation. It is this harsh reality that forced them to drift south and into the Khmer sphere, first as immigrants and subsequently as invaders. Some historians claim the Siamese first migrated to what is now Shan state in Myanmar before arriving in Cambodia or territory of the Khmer Empire which then bordered Burma/Myanmar. The word ‘Siam’ or Siamese is thought to be a derivative of the word Shan. Many Thais today can only recall Cambodia as having been a vassal of Siam and this maybe so intermittently for a few centuries after the fall of Angkor towards the 14th century onward. Yet, the truth remains that for most of their ancestors’ stay in what is now Thailand they had been subjected to the Khmer imperial rule. In fact, it was this oppressive climate of being under the Khmer rule as a vassal state that forced the Siamese to challenge the Khmers and to gain their own independence. Another point of note is that the Siamese had assimilated culturally into the Khmers’ way of life including religion, dress, language, architecture, court dance and music as well as taking scribes, scholars, court dancers, musicians and courtiers back with them to their kingdom as captives during their invasions of Cambodia. These captives would subsequently served as important mediators or mediums who imparted to the Siamese what had once served to empower the Khmers as well as now denying the latter their source of strength and power. Khmer roots, traditions, identity and history are carved in stones for all to see even today.
Thep Thida Chan, every Khmer knew about this folklore, a male commoner and female angel fell in love and had a son together. Her father came from the sky and took Thep Thida Chan back to Indra’s heaven. When her son grew up, he was taken to the sky with her there he was taught ancient technology to bring back and taught his people on earth. Her son’s name is Preah Pisnokar, everything Khmer culture we owed to him. So before any performances, dancer burn incense to commemorate and honor him. So when you see this dance, this is what Preah Pisnokar saw in Indra’s heaven. Preah Pisnokar were on an episode of Ancient Alien.

WTF this is too good. I have seen this a few times before. But tonight i have watched it in a drunken state (Glenfiddich 12 years aged) . And I can see the elegance of every movement. It was all part of the choreography by design. Back then instruments was not at it's greatest. So you had to maximise dance for greatest effect of pleasure or enjoyment. Modern dancers from Cambodia, USA, Canada, France, Australia, New Zealand, cannot match this. It's lost but I believe it can be found or duplicated. It's not too late. I will pay $100 USD to watch Khmer redo this dance. Only if it can match performance above this. I feel it's almost impossible. Because every dancer will be trying their hardest. In this video. No one is trying. So natural of every movements. It's obvious why Siam sacked Angkor. Jealousy and envy. Attack and plunder. Steal the dancers. I watch again and again. Dancers not even trying. Beautiful dance! However, I would like to make it known that this was not originally Cambodia's 🇰🇭 culture. Even though Thailand 🇹🇭 AND Cambodia🇰🇭 originated from similar parts of the world, only Thailand 🇹🇭 preserved this art form. Cambodia 🇰🇭 faced many challenges as a country and lost most of its history. This dance was taught to the Cambodians 🇰🇭 by Thai 🇹🇭 Traditional teachers. Since then Cambodia 🇰🇭 has been trying to claim Thai🇹🇭 culture and throw Thailand 🇹🇭 under the bus. Despite the difference between both forms of dancing, Cambodia 🇰🇭 cannot claim to be the original because Thais 🇹🇭 taught them these dances.

Riep , nowadays my siblings still practices these Apsara also since I was 8 years old even my siblings dance as well and understand clearly these parole of the song it’s in Khmers . Accepted the truth that Khmer Empire was a massive country and massive territories that’s the starting point since histories how many times Khmer Empire were attacked and raided by few neighboring countries including Thai and how many times Khmer Empire has heavily influenced their Art culture, martial Art , classical dance as these Apsara , clothing toward other neighboring nations . I do feel sorry for Thai people (not all Thais, obviously) given how they have been miseducated and misinformed by the Thai/Siamese ruling elite across the generations.
The Khmers or Khmer Mons were the oldest ethnic group who lived in what is now Cambodia, the Mekong Delta or part of Southern Vietnam today, all of Laos and modern day Thailand. This ethnic group are known to have settled there before recorded history. This is acknowledged and well documented in credible historical records and are not subject to fanciful interpretations! For much of the Khmer people’s presence on this region of South East Asia the Thais or Siamese - like the Vietnamese - were still living on the periphery of China where they remained in Chinese bondage or subjugation. It is this harsh reality that forced them to drift south and into the Khmer sphere, first as immigrants and subsequently as invaders. Some historians claim the Siamese first migrated to what is now Shan state in Myanmar before arriving in Cambodia or territory of the Khmer Empire which then bordered Burma/Myanmar. The word ‘Siam’ or Siamese is thought to be a derivative of the word Shan.
Many Thais today can only recall Cambodia as having been a vassal of Siam and this maybe so intermittently for a few centuries after the fall of Angkor towards the 14th century onward. Yet, the truth remains that for most of their ancestors’ stay in what is now Thailand they had been subjected to the Khmer imperial rule. In fact, it was this oppressive climate of being under the Khmer rule as a vassal state that forced the Siamese to challenge the Khmers and to gain their own independence. Another point of note is that the Siamese had assimilated culturally into the Khmers’ way of life including religion, dress, language, architecture, court dance and music as well as taking scribes, scholars, court dancers, musicians and courtiers back with them to their kingdom as captives during their invasions of Cambodia. These captives would subsequently served as important mediators or mediums who imparted to the Siamese what had once served to empower the Khmers as well as now denying the latter their source of strength and power. Khmer roots, traditions, identity and history are carved in stones for all to see even today.

WTF this is too good. I have seen this a few times before. But tonight i have watched it in a drunken state (Glenfiddich 12 years aged) . And I can see the elegance of every movement. It was all part of the choreography by design. Back then instruments was not at it's greatest. So you had to maximise dance for greatest effect of pleasure or enjoyment. Modern dancers from Cambodia, USA, Canada, France, Australia, New Zealand, cannot match this. It's lost but I believe it can be found or duplicated. It's not too late. I will pay $100 USD to watch Khmer redo this dance. Only if it can match performance above this. I feel it's almost impossible. Because every dancer will be trying their hardest. In this video. No one is trying. So natural of every movements. It's obvious why Siam sacked Angkor. Jealousy and envy. Attack and plunder. Steal the dancers. I watch again and again. Dancers not even trying.
