There was no repetition, the whole dance sequence was learned as a whole. That’s nearly seventeen minutes of dance, in duet, from head to toe for nearly all of it. Astonishing. Not even European ballet demands such exacting facial expressions as well as body movements. That level of control needed takes years and years of practice. I can only praise and be in awe.

Their eyes are out of sync. They even tilt their heads to different angles and degrees. There is more out of sync than there is in sync. Can't you see it? Intensive and master?? I hate to be picky but their synchronizing is off. The wobbles arent matching and fan movements aren't synched. It looks moderatly practiced, def not mastered.
@Pauly-Wauly Doodlealdaday years to master because the postures when they maintain their wrists and hands at a perfect 90° angle when moving their arms isn't naturally possible, they have to force their bones, ligaments, etc.. during years to be able to do that and have to work like crazy to be able to contain and control the twist their forearm's bones do when moving (it's just like the ballet dancers who spend years in training before going on pointe, being on pointe isn't naturally possible, they have to deform their joints with hard training to be able to do it.)

I was very fortunate to be in Bali for a cple of months in 1972. I was 21yrs old. I stayed at "Muries Lasman" not sure of spelling. It had small units side by side built in a circle . It was surrounded by a tall private fence for security. The owners daughter was Murie who did her chores on a large concrete platform unded a vast palmtree roof in the centre of the propery. She would go round every night and bless each room wit inscence and pray. Outside this domain was a small side street that lead to a concert arena and I fell asleep listening to Balinese music and beautiful dancing girls telling a story thru dance. It was called Ramiani. Once again, not sure of spelling. I will never forget.it was magic. I'm 71 now.
This was so amazing. I was mesmerized by the dancer on the left. She made such interesting, and bold eye and facial expressions. Both ladies were incredibly talented of course. Very beautiful, and very artistic dancing. I loved the head movements, and other intricate movements. Even their fingers hand movements. I am sure this took so long to learn. The music was other amazing. It's otherworldly sounding to me, and I love that about it. I am super fascinated by other cultures.

There was a scene in Sinbad where a stone statue with multiple arms danced like this. It was absolute nightmare fuel for me as a young child. I can’t seem to shake that memory. It actually makes it hard for me to enjoy this, sadly. I do appreciate these dancers’ skill and the beautiful costumes.

This was one of the weirdest things I have ever seen, and also heard, in my entire life!! Although I must say I was riveted to watching it, as beyond the realm as it was, and watched all the long way to the end. That being said, the hand movements, as unhuman as they were, must be incredibly hard to master, and also the the memorization of something that incredibly long!!!

40 years ago I 'discovered' Bali as an optional stop over from NZ to London. I stayed, coincidentally, in Peliatan for a week, and will look back on that as one of the most perfect times in my life. This dancing brought it all back to me, plus the pitch black walk back to my 'homestay' in the warmth, accompanied by fireflies, the smell of frangipani and the sound of distant gamelans and barking dogs. I was charmed then - and remain so.
Absolutely incredible to watch ... elegant and beautiful in total sync. The one thing I noticed they seem to breathe through their noses, didn't see the girls open their mouths to take a breath.... amazing.

Or, to be more accurate, Pop and Lock dance style must have been inspired or informed by Balineese and similar dance styles.

Wow, the music really allows you to take a step back and observe the dancers, both interesting and difficult. This must need a lot of rehearsals to synchronise dancers and musicians who remember every little detail by heart.

Every picture and video I see of Bali reminds me of how important nature is to humans. It's no wonder tourism is thriving in Bali. The landscapes are beautiful, the ocean is vast, and the people seem friendly, even towards non Balinese speakers.

Indonesia is a nation of many different ethnic groups. The one with the most beautiful traditions and culture o all the ethnic groups? The Hindu Balinese. The Balinese are the most original of all the ethnic groups, including the dominant Javanese and Sumatrans. They are the only ones that have remained Hindu.
