Glad your channel popped up. I feel the same. Michael Jackson was a one off. A dance pioneer aswell as vocalist and songwriter! happy new Year anyone reading this .
Listen to isolated track analysis videos of Michael's songs. I listened to Off The Wall today. His voice was an instrument over which he had amazing control. He was only 20 yrs old when he sang that one. As his voice changed, he adapted and he got better and better. I like to listen to acapella versions of his songs. The music just gets in the way of his multi-layered backups (hope that's the right terminology). Anyways, look for the isolated vocals and enjoy! I also listen to Jackson 5 isolated analysis videos.
The fact Michaels singing so effortlessly, and you can tell by his face hes not struggling at all, is testament to that kids vocal abilities. Otherworldly.
Did people think it was crazy for little doodles to sing and dance like this? I feel like I'm used to it because they've always existed in my lifetime but if another group came out like this it would be so bizzare.
I’m 63 , I was a kid like them in the 60’s, and in the late 60’s and early 70’s , to young black people in America (kids and teens ), there was nothing hotter than the Jackson 5. They sold records , always had two to three hits at the top of the charts , had tv specials , sold out concerts , and tv appearances like this one on the Ed Sullivan Show, it meant ratings , because every black kid and teen stopped what they were doing to watch the Jackson 5 on tv. My father , who loved music himself , knew I loved the “ J5” , so he bought home every new J5 album for me when they came out, and I still have them and cherish them. And he also took us to the concerts 3 times ( we missed the first time they came to Memphis ) , it was very exciting . And they were a part of a whole generation of history making music, the Motown label. I grew up with the Jackson family , and we called them black royalty and looked up to them for decades. They had a tv special back them called “ The Jackson 5 : Going Back To Indiana” which featured them in a verity of comical skits with Bill Cosby and other celebrities , and ended with a live concert . It was released as an album also, you should check it out also. The Jackson 5 made times very special for black kids and teen back then. And just remember , the Jackson 5 ( and the Jackson’s , as well as Micheal and Jermaine early solo albums ), had so many hits, but fans who loved them lived every track on every album.
Never Can Say Goodbye blew me away when I first heard it & still does now....the voice that came out of Michael is amazing. My first concert was the Jackson 5, I was about 14. People who only know his later solo stuff will be shocked that his kid voice is more astonishing.
That’s Jermaine Jackson singing , he went on to have a nice solo career. And the song “ Who’s Loving You” is one of my favorites , and it was amazing that a really young MJ sang a song like that so well , as he did in all his other songs in his amazing career .
Jermaine ("the one on the right") was always my favorite of the J5. And when he sang, "Nobody Loves You Like I Do" with Whitney Houston, my love for Jermaine was solidified.
I’m 67 and remember when they were on The Ed Sullivan show. Seeing this video brought back so many good memories! We even saw them when they came to perform in Detroit. In fact, they had announced on the radio when they were going to land at Metropolitan Airport in Detroit and my girlfriend’s big sister took us there to see them! All we could see were big Afros running past the crowd of fans. Wow, good times! Did you know they later had a cartoon show.
I'm 67 and I remember the bus ride home from school. Someone had a transistor radio and The Jackson 5 would come on ...and the bus became so quiet it was eerie. We knew Michael had wonderful talent!
I absolutely love seeing that jaw-dropping moment of ppl first time seeing MJ sing who's loving you. He had an amazing voice at that age. Even Ed Sullivan said that was the best live singing performance he's had on the entire run of his show, which is saying a lot because that stage has seen some amazing talent. This was the GOAT boy band, and nobody can tell me differently!
This is my childhood. I grew up listening to the Jackson 5 or J5 as they were sometimes called, There's so many songs to listen too. "The Love You Save", "ABC", "Dancing Machine", "Get it Together", "I'll Be There" and " Never Can Say Goodbye" to name a few. Please try and watch them live. They're such a visual act as opposed to just listening to their audio, As they got older, you have "Body Language", "Forever Came Today" "Enjoy Yourself", Shake Your Body" and many others to explore!! Thanks for this trip down memory lane for this Michael fangirl!!
I feel like Michael Jackson had three lifetimes in music. The Jackson 5 (my mom’s generation) The Jackson’s/Off The Wall, and Thriller/Bad (my generation). Little Michael was a FORCE! Him singing ‘Whose Loving You’ by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles even took Smokey (Smokey admitted when he first heard it) The greatest entertainer to live! MJ. Jermaine was the lead singer until their mom discovered that Michael could sing really well. Jermaine had his success in the business as well. Michael loved his brothers.
The song “Stand” was a current hit by Sly and The Family Stone at that time. “Who’s Loving You” was a hit earlier by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. The other solo singer is Jermaine….he ended up marrying Barry Gordy’s daughter and stayed with Motown when his brother left for Epic records. Jermaine had a semi-successful solo career and his son Jaffar will be playing his uncle Michael in the upcoming biopic coming out later this year.
I was born 3 months before Michael. Being I was raised on a full working farm in the sticks when the Jackson 5 would come on TV I would so try and get his dance moves down. No rewind back in the day. I remember watching this on the Ed Sullivan show. The one you are talking about having a great voice is Jermaine/bass guitar. Great reaction
Michael's Off the Wall album is fire. It's well worth a listen to. I'll Be There, Never can say Goodbye, Rock with You...too many hits to name. Older sister Rebbie had a hit, Centipede and Jermaine had solo hits, too.
Great reaction! Loved the Jackson 5. I was 4 years younger than MJ so I grew up listening to all of his music. Michigan girl here. GO LIONS!!! Like your shirt. 😊

The Jackson 5 were hot and very talented. You couldn’t help but get caught up in their music! Some of my favorites from this era were: ABC, I'll Be There, and The love you Save.
Young Michael was flawless! And the group as a whole was magical. Tito plays the red Gibson ES-345. If you catch it in the light correctly, you'll notice no woodgrain as it is a Metallic Sparkling Burgundy. We recently lost Tito late in 2024. He will be sorely missed!
MJ was number 8 of 10 children. From oldest to youngest within the Jackson siblings - Rebbie Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, LaToya Jackson, Marlon Jackson (whose twin Brandon Jackson died in child birth), Michael Jackson, Randy Jackson and the youngest Janet Jackson. Also I want to clarify the Jackson 5 were huge! They was the first group to have their first four songs all reach No. 1, had their own animated series, board games, cereal, this, that, and the other. They took over The Beatles on the charts with their first song and their second single ABC sold 2 million copies in two and a half weeks. They had three number one albums in 1970 alone. They became a bit stagnant in 1972/1973 but that’s why Michael and the brothers decided to leave Motown Records and became The Jacksons in 1975, they had to change their name cause Motown Records owned the name Jackson 5 so they were now know as The Jacksons and move to CBS Records/Epic Records while Jermaine Jackson stayed behind cause he married Berry Gordy’s daughter, so Randy Jackson was added to the group even tho he was performing alongside the Jackson 5 since 1971. Michael’s solo career has eclipsed just how huge the Jackson 5/The Jacksons was. After all they didn’t call it “Jacksonmania” for nothing. They truly are the Greatest Boy Band Of All Time! As a group they have sold over 150 million records worldwide before Michael even went solo so they were an anomaly themselves.👑💖🌟
Ages during this performance (December 1969) from left to right: Tito, 16 Marlon, 12 Jackie, 18 Michael, 11 Jermaine, 15 Jermaine has had a good solo career of his own. Out of the 10 Jackson siblings, 7 are alive today. Tito died in 2024, aged 70. Michael died in 2009, aged 50. Brandon, who was Marlon's twin brother, died within 24 hours after their birth in 1957, due to being very premature. Marlon and Michael were very close and the age gap between them was less than 1,5 years. ❤
Michael’s soul and incredible talent will hit you like that. That’s why he’s still the most loved artist ever on this earth. He was just too good for this world. Thank you. ❤
I was just waiting to see your face when MJ sang the line "I treated you bad-a-a-a-d!" (in "Who's Loving You") because the first time I heard it, my face did the same thing!
I grew up listening to The Jackson 5. I was 7 when this episode of the Ed Sullivan Show aired AND when "I Want You Back" was released. The J5 were part of my childhood. They were exceptionally talented. MJ was only 11 years old during this performance, and Jermaine with that very mature-sounding voice was only been 15! You'll truly enjoy watching other live recordings of them. They were phenomenal! 😊
That's the lead singer on that song Stan was Jermaine Jackson who was supposed to been the lead singer until mother told the father to listen to Michael and that's what Michael became the lead singer
Now you know. Michael is the one who single-handedly almost, took his beautiful music and crossed over. There is no one else quite like him. Great reaction.
Michael was magical! ❤Maybe you should try to listen to some less known Michael´s songs from his adult era - Chicago for example. Michael´s voice was amazing, exceptional and unique his whole life!
I highly recommend you watch their reunion performance on the Motown 25 special. Not only did the brothers perform a melody of classic hits together but after Michael is left alone on the stage & blows everyone’s minds when her performs Billy Jean for the 1st time debuting the moon walk to the world!
Jacksons playing guitar on outside is Tito, then Marlon, Jackie, other guitar player Jermaine and of course Michael. Love the Jackson 5 You should do ABC.
The Love You Save has always been my favourite song by the Jackson 5. The dusco stuff is great too like Dancing Machine. Michael Jackson's Off The Wall is 🔥
I grew up listening to The Jackson 5 I was born the same year as Michael. I loved him all my life as so many of us did. The Jackson 5 were loved by everyone!❤
The data of Wikipedia is wrong : The Jackson 5 became The Jacksons in 1976... Their last record is not in 1985 (actually nothing happened among The Jacksons in 1985... The closer album is "Victory" in 1984 and the very last album recorded by The Jacksons is from 1989 and it it entitled "2300 Jackson Street" (it was, originally, a present for the birthday of their mother Katherine Jackson, but they finally decided to release it in the public)
From left to right: Tito (who just passed away last September), Marlon, Jackie ( the oldest), Michael and Jermaine Jackson. After Michael died the other brothers started performing again, by popular demand. Now, after Tito passed away, I don't know what they'll do. Tito's son did join them lately, so maybe he will continue to perform with his uncles. It's easy to see that Michael was mega talented, although he paid a price. At a certain point he was basically the bread winner and that is a lot of pressure on the shoulder sof a child. He wanted to go solo as early as 1978, but his dad and brothers were of course not happy with that. Even at Michael's height, around Thriller and Billie Jean, he didn't go on solo tours. It was only after the Victory Tour that Michael was brave enough to cut himself away from his brothers. The BAD tour was his first ever solo tour, in 1987. He planned on it being his only and last one, but they convinced him to continue. He shouldn't have maybe, but he did the Dangerous tour for charity. After that he somehow kept touring even though he hated it. I guess certain obligations made him do it. Anyway, seeing 11 year old Michael sing and dance is always mind blowing...! LJ
I saw the Jackson's at about this time frame Randy had just joined , I grew up in Vegas and my mom was working at the mgm and got tickets for my brother and I and a girl whose mom worked there as well It was a big deal going to the mgm showroom that was my first concert. I was like 10 or 11
Mom said there are 9 Jackson kids: Rebe (1st born) Girl), Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, Latoya, Michael, Randy & Janet. ❤️…Such a talented family…mean Dad tho 😱
They were next level human beings. Their dad gets the bad rap for being a strict disciplinarian, but he made possible the work ethnic and confidence of his boys (and girls). None of them were in gangs or had babies out of wedlock in the neighborhood. Jermaine and Tito were proficient on their instruments and vocals as teenagers. I saw them live back in the day it was like watching visitors for another planet. But it made us exceedingly proud as Black children. They were us.
@@SalvoGHis Off the Wall album is one of his best. I saw them with the Commodores when I was a kid. Check them out, Lionel Ritchie's group before he went solo. Easy and Sail On are two of their hits.
When MJ starting singing it caught me so off guard I almost got emotional! But I should have known! ⭐️
Glad your channel popped up. I feel the same. Michael Jackson was a one off. A dance pioneer aswell as vocalist and songwriter! happy new Year anyone reading this .
I know. That sweet little face and that voice! ❤
It still brings a tear to my eye. His voice was angelic.
Just Lovin You blows me away too. Michael was phenomenally talented.

He was somthing else. Watching him almost brings me to tears.
Can you see how people looked at a 10-year-old MJ and knew we were looking at a Superstar?
MJ was the 11 year old mini GOAT
Michael Jackson was the main prodigy in a family of musical prodigies.
He was so precious and so entertaining. I'm sorry he had such a hard life.
Yes 💯
The fact Michaels singing so effortlessly, and you can tell by his face hes not struggling at all, is testament to that kids vocal abilities. Otherworldly.
One word . . .TALENT!
I grew up in this era! It was a great time! I love The Jackson Five! MJ’s talent! Amazing! The vocals! Fire! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Rest in Peace MJ!
Did people think it was crazy for little doodles to sing and dance like this? I feel like I'm used to it because they've always existed in my lifetime but if another group came out like this it would be so bizzare.
As a youth, it was thrilling growing up with The Jackson 5 and their amazing talent.
Jermaine was initially the lead before Michael was formally in the group
They both had such big voices to have been so young 🥺

Love the jacksons. Little mj was adorable.

Michael would stand out anywhere. He probably was gold as a fetus.
MY CHILDHOOD ❤❤❤❤ THE BEST !

Me either! Michael was 5 years older than me, and is a HUGE factor of making my childhood and life so much better! J5 is so amazing and otherworldly!
This quality of musicianship was on tv. Those that grew up with this were in a special time for high talent/skilled entertainers.
@@kali550 Agreed. There was more freedom of expression back then. The industry is much more controlled now.
Michael Jackson is a legend 🙂
In THIS video..Left -Right: Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Michael & Jermaine 😉.
Thanks for posting, SalvoG 😘
Thanks! RIP Tito Jackson.
So heart wrenching.
These young men were so very talented. Many good memories of sitting with my parents, brother and sister watching this very show.

There is a vid on here called “Michael Jackson in concert in Bucharest” the whole concert, great to watch👍🏼🥰
Yes, I always loved Jermaines voice, as much as Michaels. Tito had a great LOW voice.

Michael had bona fide ADULT credentials as a singer. I never felt as if I was hearing a cute "kiddie" singer when he sang!
Proud to remember & say that when Michael sang Who's Lovin You, my mother, grandmother & great grandmother LOVED it.
I love you Michael and thank you for helping so many people with your generous humanitarian efforts. You have healed my world.

Forever Came Today, Moving Violations and Dancing Machine.
I was born a little too late. This seemed like an amazing time!
LJ
I want you back is 🔥
Talented as hell
I saw this Ed Sullivan show live. I'm Michael's age and owned The Jackson 5's Greatest Hits. The best music to grow up with. 💖
They are great. So soulful, man...
I saw the Jackson's at about this time frame Randy had just joined , I grew up in Vegas and my mom was working at the mgm and got tickets for my brother and I and a girl whose mom worked there as well
It was a big deal going to the mgm showroom that was my first concert. I was like 10 or 11
I grew up with Michael, loved him from the beginning till the end ❤️ total talent, voice and dancing.
Mom said there are 9 Jackson kids: Rebe (1st born) Girl), Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, Latoya, Michael, Randy & Janet. ❤️…Such a talented family…mean Dad tho 😱
Rebbie had a hit Centipede produced by Michael.
Legend !
Never heard of the Jackson 5? 😮😉 Michael was adorable.
Never HEARD them lol
You are missing out of the greatest of all time, Michael himself~ then of course the 5, but Michael was the KING!
@@SalvoGHis Off the Wall album is one of his best. I saw them with the Commodores when I was a kid. Check them out, Lionel Ritchie's group before he went solo. Easy and Sail On are two of their hits.
@@RainbwTree He's heard Michael sing several times on Patreon.
In regard to the Jackson 5 , they were amazing and the talent that Michael had was just ridiculous already at that age
Bro are you literally hearing this first time are you kidding I am 12 years old I have heard I want you back and who’s loving many times
IMO, MIchael was the best all around entertainer that there has ever been (with all due respect to Frank, Elvis and others).
