I couldn’t agree more. Journey is now basically a Journey cover band. No offense to the lead singer they have now, but when he joined the band, he sounded very close to Steve’s voice. He was actually in a Journey cover band.
Love the reaction when people realize singers used to really sing without autotune. And then they hear Steve Perry or Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant, live, and can't believe there was a time all of this greatness actually existed! Because music today is dog food! I was at that concert tour, saw it in Columbia SC. He was wearing the same thing. They were absolutely flawless and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!
Because we know we screwed up. Our predecessors got through everything, including world wars, cold wars, etc. And we brought the world to the brink and we'll probably soon go over the edge and we'll all be screwed. The guitarist played with Santana when he was 15-16. this is simply the most uplifting good feeling HOPE FOR THE FUTURE song EVER!!!!

My teen years was in the 80's..all genres of music was incredible..it didn't matter if you listened to rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, dance, soft rock, new wave, all of it was such a blast to listen to on the radio..the garbage that's currently on the air waves cannot compare to what we listened to with 80's music...I love my 80's music!!!! ❤❤

You made your way by pure talent. What you heard on a record, you heard in person. This was rock and roll.

I'm 60 years old now and the greatest concerts I've ever been to have been the four times that I witnessed Journey. By the end of every show Steve Perry was a complete sweat soaked hero. He NEVER missed a note. Not once! What you heard on the radio is what he delivered. You left each concert truly believing that he gave everything he had in the tank

I have a lot of bands from that era that I really like but for me Journey will always be my favorite, the band along with Steve's vocals for me were second to none !!

Music of today has dropped so far down from then! I’m 67, been a music junkie all my life and Steve Perry was one of the best! This is why us older people complain about what music has become. There really is something special about Steve Perry's energy onstage, and you can feel it within the first seconds of hearing his voice, but it's only really communicated when you SEE him sing. I don't know how to describe it other than that it feels like he's just... manifesting connection with everyone there. He's here to see everyone enjoy themselves, and he loves it, and knows how good he is at it, but it comes across as almost... humble, for lack of a better word. The man's voice is a gift, and every line he sings says "This is for you. This is for us."
He once said he was only that good because of the fans. He said he would 'go and get' that best part of him when the audience showed up. He said that without them, he didn't have it. That's super humble and sweet!
Just found this reaction. It is a reality my generation of this time knew consistently. People interacted. It was a matter of honor and true love for those who worked hard to perfect their craft. We saw them. They saw us. We were faces seen and hands touched. Hearts broke and love was sent out. We MISS this. THIS REAL contact. They HAD to be craftsmen with real skill, or we didn't show up. THEY had to be real, so we could be real back. Yes. I got emotional, too, watching and listening to my life in retrospect. We didn't even know what we had....till we suddenly.... didn't.
We older generation can't begin to describe the music and attending rock concerts back in that era. Attending rock concerts in packed stadiums, arenas, etc was down right AWESOME and made you feel alive. I feel sorry for the current generation for not being able to attend live music concerts because the current "professionals" are all computer enhanced if not generated and are unable to present personalize, ad lib lyrics and conversations with each other and audience for the BEST inclusion experiences EVER!

Yep, no tricks, no autotune just pure talent. Clear as water. He was actually nicknamed Steve “ the voice” Perry because of how unbelievable people found his voice to be. This is officially my favorite reaction, one of the only Rock voices in history to both give me chills and tears when I heard him for the first time when I was 11. I’ve never been so proud that my parents raised me on stuff like this instead of all the crap on the radio these days. This is real music, real rock. Listening to Journey is more than just listening to good music, it’s an experience. It never fails to blow people’s minds. I get a surge of endorphins just seeing that face people make when he starts singing. 😄
Take a walk back in time to the 70's and early 80's and enjoy the ride. If this is your first experience with this music you haven't even scratched the surface yet. I was born in 1962 it was a great ride.

This is officially my favorite reaction, one of the only Rock voices in history to both give me chills and tears when I heard him for the first time when I was 11. I’ve never been so proud that my parents raised me on stuff like this instead of all the crap on the radio these days. This is real music, real rock. Listening to Journey is more than just listening to good music, it’s an experience. It never fails to blow people’s minds. I get a surge of endorphins just seeing that face people make when he starts singing. 😄

Take a walk back in time to the 70's and early 80's and enjoy the ride. If this is your first experience with this music you haven't even scratched the surface yet. I was born in 1962 it was a great ride.
I was 16 when this was released, and remember my reaction to hearing it for the first time. MIND BLOWING. It has been on my playlist ever since.
I was a teenager in the height of journey's hits. They dominated all the rock radio stations on every teenager's RADIO! The time of our lives indeed.

One of the greatest concert tours EVER! Steve Perry's voice was always amazing and effortless-he never made mistakes, Neal's guitar...wish you could have been to one of their live shows! Their shows were SO much fun and the band really drew the crowd in. Thanks for taking me back to that time❤

Steve Perry was known as "The Voice". He had amazing energy didn't he! Don't Stop Believing along with Bohemian Rhapsody were inducted into the Library of Congress this year. Well deserved honor for both!
IMO, he's one of the best vocalists EVER!! I don't believe that there ever was a song from Steve Perry that I don't love. Now, I have to listen to tons of his songs......
I believe at one time he held the world record for being able to sing the most octaves.
