I couldn’t agree more. Journey is now basically a Journey cover band. No offense to the lead singer they have now, but when he joined the band, he sounded very close to Steve’s voice. He was actually in a Journey cover band.

Love the reaction when people realize singers used to really sing without autotune. And then they hear Steve Perry or Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant, live, and can't believe there was a time all of this greatness actually existed! Because music today is dog food! I was at that concert tour, saw it in Columbia SC. He was wearing the same thing. They were absolutely flawless and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!

Because we know we screwed up. Our predecessors got through everything, including world wars, cold wars, etc. And we brought the world to the brink and we'll probably soon go over the edge and we'll all be screwed. There won't be any more generations. Unfortunately, "Don't stop believin" won't help anymore, the train has left the station.

this was my first concert in high school. It was a few days in front or back of that show. On the floor with a girl on my shoulders for a while. Welcome to REAL music. REAL musicians with NO AUTOTUNE computer crap. MOTHER FATHER shows Steve's HIGH range at the end. Any Way You Want It. The guitarist played with Santana when he was 15-16.

There really is something special about Steve Perry's energy onstage, and you can feel it within the first seconds of hearing his voice, but it's only really communicated when you SEE him sing. I don't know how to describe it other than that it feels like he's just... manifesting connection with everyone there. He's here to see everyone enjoy themselves, and he loves it, and knows how good he is at it, but it comes across as almost... humble, for lack of a better word. The man's voice is a gift, and every line he sings says "This is for you. This is for us."

Just found this reaction. It is a reality my generation of this time knew consistently. People interacted. It was a matter of honor and true love for those who worked hard to perfect their craft. We saw them. They saw us. We were faces seen and hands touched. Hearts broke and love was sent out. We MISS this. THIS REAL contact. They HAD to be craftsmen with real skill, or we didn't show up. THEY had to be real, so we could be real back. Yes. I got emotional, too, watching and listening to my life in retrospect. We didn't even know what we had....till we suddenly.... didn't.

We older generation can't begin to describe the music and attending rock concerts back in that era. Attending rock concerts in packed stadiums, arenas, etc was down right AWESOME and made you feel alive. I feel sorry for the current generation for not being able to attend live music concerts because the current "professionals" are all computer enhanced if not generated and are unable to present personalize, ad lib lyrics and conversations with each other and audience for the BEST inclusion experiences EVER!

Now you know why we older people say our music is better.
Acts had to have real talent, or they didn't make it. There was no corporate backing, internet, computer aid (autotune, etc). They had talent and worked their asses off to make it.
Dive in in to Journey live. That concert there, front to back, is a great start.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

Yep, no tricks, no autotune just pure talent. Clear as water. He was actually nicknamed Steve “ the voice” Perry because of how unbelievable people found his voice to be. This is officially my favorite reaction, one of the only Rock voices in history to both give me chills and tears when I heard him for the first time when I was 11. I’ve never been so proud that my parents raised me on stuff like this instead of all the crap on the radio these days. This is real music, real rock. Listening to Journey is more than just listening to good music, it’s an experience. It never fails to blow people’s minds. I get a surge of endorphins just seeing that face people make when he starts singing. 😄
