- The Puzzling Life is my new series of shorter videos where I'll be answering viewer questions, sharing my puzzle hauls, and providing mini-reviews of jigsaw puzzles I've been working on. It's a more casual format for all the little things I want to share with y'all that don't fit into one of my main videos. Enjoy!

I’ve now given away my copy of Pieter Bruegel's The Wedding Dance from Pomegranate - keep watching for more puzzle giveaways!

Hi Dan. Went into a thrift store last week for the first time ever and picked up a 1974 puzzle for £4!! Bought another factory sealed Christmas puzzle for £3! Doing the 1974 puzzle right now. The box is in pristine condition as are the pieces. Pretty sure all the pieces will be there.
Awesome 👍 My puzzle collection has changed dramatically since I started thrifting, in size and diversity!
as always a fun video.. loved the pool one.... its always fun to learn about all the different types of puzzles....
Thank you for the puzzle. I worked on it off and on for a week before I finished it. It had 4 pieces missing which didn’t help. I plan to trash it because it was so hard and had so many missing pieces. Thanks again for sending it to me!
👍🏻👍🏻
Omg I can’t even imagine throwing pieces anywhere, but in the pool 😂
What an incredible week of puzzling you had! Good for you for giving that Bruegel puzzle a try! I had a puzzle accident this week too. I was almost done with a puzzle I had really been enjoying (Goliath Games' Scene of the Crime) and as I stood up at 1am to go to bed... bam!... I tipped the corner of the board and down went half the puzzle. I was worried that if I didn't put it back together then and there, I would feel too discouraged to do over it again, so I stayed up and rebuilt it on the floor in the living room. I guess those accidents give you the opportunity to gauge your dedication to a project. I was all in and you were maybe looking for an out... Thanks for sharing that real moment with us. Not every puzzling experience is perfect, but that's the puzzling life!
I think you’re exactly right. I’ve been that person on the floor carefully putting a puzzle back together. But with this one I just thought, “thank goodness that’s over with!”
Hi , I went to the thrift store this week and found a still shrink wrapped puzzle from 1985 . It was called just imagine by Milton bradley I believe it's called a tale of two cities. Really cool image with water in the middle and two cities on either side of it. The second one was from 2004 still sealed and the image was a French chalet. Last week I found a Springbok from 1976 called kindred spirits and a F.x. Schmid puzzle very old not sure of age, but I did find that Ravensburger bought the company in the 90s. Really enjoy your videos, it always makes me happy when you drop a video.
I’ve never seen that Springbok before (Kindred Spirits) - just looked it up, it looks tricky! Good luck 👍
Just thought I would tell you of a company from Canada called Tri-M Specialty products. They are having a sale 50-65% off selected puzzles. I spent a pretty penny. I have purchased from them in the past.
Recent puzzles include the Minions puzzle from Trefl, vintage springbok round puzzle Offering of the coral plants to the emperor 1965 and Antelope puzzle Amsterdam weekend. All of these are from my collection. I like to redo puzzles I like as well as purchase new/used ones.
Thanks. I'm going to search my family home to see if we still have that puzzle. I think it was from the 60's too.
You thrift the most anazing puzzles! I get loads of thrifted puzzles, but they are often recent type puzzles. Rarely, I find something special. I would have a terrible time walking away from puzzles to which I have nostalgic attachment......even if the image seems boring as a puzzle.
I don’t know why the thrifting situation is so good here - I would say because I’m in a big city (New Orleans) but I’ve heard the puzzle thrifting in NYC is not great, so who knows?
Okay...my first comment didn't post??? Anyway, looks like you were able to get several fun and beautiful puzzles. Also, I would love to try the puzzle, The Wedding Dance by Pieter Bruegel.
Just had a quick look at The Puzzled Co.'s offerings. Very cool images available! Also looked at the Influencer Initiative puzzles. Jason Naylor's art work is very reminiscent of Peter Maxx - whose art I've always loved.
You know, I didn’t even make that connection, but you’re right! There’s definitely a lot of similarity
Yay for whimsy pieces
I had exactly the same thing with my Bruegel this week (D-Toys brand). It had been waiting for me for such a long time that I finally decided to do it and then sell it. It was also a kinda dark, brownish picture (The Tax Collector's Office). I did the sorting and the frame, and one window (the easiest part). Then I went to the kitchen just for two minutes and when I came back my cat was munching on the puzzle and was able to do two holes in a puzzle piece! So then I decided to give up ant give away the puzzle for free 😅
The hands of fate have saved us from these dreary puzzles! 😆
I would give this video more than one thumb's up if I could. Loved the bit with the puzzle in the pool. That looks like one I'd like to do even on dry land. 😁 I got out one of the puzzles I bought in a thrift shop YEARS ago to try again. I believe I completed it once back in the day. I have to make room for all the new puzzles I've been buying since I started watching you and Emily, the Casual Puzzler, and others. I started this old one, Jungle Birds by Springbok, got the frame and good part of the scarlet macaw built, and then decided I would rather be working one of my new puzzles. Jungle Birds is going to the library or a thrift shop for someone else to do. As I'm getting older I'm finding the lower piece count puzzles more enticing. (Jungle Birds is only 500 pieces, but Springbok is not my favorite brand to work.)
Jungle Birds is such an iconic puzzle to me. My aunt had Jungle Birds in her games closet when I was a kid. I never attempted it, but I used to love looking at the picture.
@@puzzlephile You want it? I could send it to you. 😊
I’m working on a buffalo games 1000 piece called beach holiday. It’s a little more difficult than i initially thought it would be, but i don’t mind difficult as long as i see some kind of progress.
You seem to do very well with what you find in thrift stores. 👍 Not surprised you didn't want to do the Bruegel jigsaw. I believe quite a number of his paintings are rather dark and therefore difficult to do as jigsaws. I prefer colourful images like Circular Forms by Robert Delaunay and those referred to as nostalgia. Each of us has our preferred types of images and tend to stick to them. Do you have a favourite brand/image or just happy to try whatever comes your way?
I would start that Pokemon puzzle in a heartbeat if I had any space for it. Super jealous here! The max that fits on my table is 2000 pieces.
Your Pomegranate experience makes me laugh. I really want to try one of their puzzles but every time I come across one in a thrift store, I think "mmmmm this looks like a very hard and frustrating puzzle. I'll get one next time I see one". Maybe people only donate the tricky ones!
Yeah I guess because they are using existing art that wasn’t designed to be a puzzle, some are more successful than others. But I love their puzzles, and I have struggled through some very hard ones!
Hi Dan! Rachel Ignotofsky is a wonderful artist, and Potter puzzles are fantastic quality. I wish I had a thrift store by me that carried a great selection of puzzles, but alas, it is not to be. Great haul!
Great video. I also found a copy of The Wedding Dance but it is a 500 piece Ravensburger. I took a look at mine and compared it to yours and my copy has more colour in the puzzle. I'm not sure if there is more than one version of this art piece or if Ravensburger changed the image by adding more colour. I will need to give this puzzle a try now.
Interesting! I wonder. Bumping up the color would definitely make a big difference
@@puzzlephile Now I'm curious about the difficulty level so I've pulled it out and will work on it this week. Hopefully the colours will make a difference.
I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more puzzles this month (I've been on a mini/micro puzzle kick lately).......I just bought two of the Influencer Iniative acrylics and a Puzzled Co mini. Oops lol
I feel you - Mini puzzles are so addictive!
I am swayed by a good bargin, but I would not want to do the Wedding dance either.
im up fot trying the wedding dance
I am working on the same Pokemon Puzzle as you right now. I bought it for myself for finishing up my degree I have been working on for 20+ years. I ordered it and then you posted a video talking about it and I knew I had picked the right puzzle. I am trying to catch up with you now so I can see if I can finish by the time you do. Good luck. Can't wait to see yours when you finish it. 😊
You might beat me to it! And congratulations on your degree!
Painted puzzles just tend to be harder to do in general I think.
Agreed! Unless it’s someone whose style includes sharp color separation, like Mondrian
Great video. In my puzzling life I did a partial sort of puzzle #21 for August, a 1000 piece Aimee Stewart puzzle. Will also be starting a 500 piece Ceaco puzzle for the day as well. 😊
Whoa, you’re fast!
Hilarious! Throwing puzzle pieces into the pool! I hope you filmed a "Mystery Land" vid. It's really exceptional
I should have! it’s so cool. Alas, no video of that one.
Orderd a puzzle from Target. Target wrapped the puzzle is shipping plastic, and the box is a crushed mess. I did reach out to Target about it. They did nothing. Including an Apology. Don't order puzzles from Target. Nice video. Enjoy them all.
Target has put out a Disney puzzle sold in store only.. I have family in 4 states looking for this puzzle and cannot find it.. so yea!! Do not go to Target for puzzles!!
Oh no! Thanks for the tip!
Hello there down in New Orleans - The House of the Endless Fun. Pun intended.
Haha see? We’re not all partying all the time - some of us are puzzling!!
Can you do a video on Zan chalet Yoga puzzle?
Awful Optics looks more like its from the 1960s. YOu got some great puzzles from the thrift store!!! The Night Garden for only a couple bucks?? Score!!!
I couldn’t believe my luck with that one!
