North Carolina ferry Cedar Island to Ocracoke Island $45.00 It was nice it was like being on a cruise ship for 2 1/4 hours and our RV was or own private cabin.
It was like 28$ if memory serves but that was just in a suv. Coming back from the keys got on a toll road all the way to middle of the state and didn’t have a ticket that we we supposed to get so dude charged us maximum amount. I was not a “happy camper” lol
AlliChuck Adventures that is the worst!!! It has happened to us once in our way from Maine to Virginia Beach when Corey was in the Navy. We were warned about the toll roads in Florida and avoided them at all costs! If you haven’t driven through Ocala National Forest above Orlando, definitely check it out! The natural springs there are amazing!
George Washington Bridge and Chesapeake Bay Bridge are the 2 we learned to avoid after we received our EZ Pass statement. Ouch! Spent 5 days at Point Sabago last summer. Now one of our favorite areas we’ve been to and now we drag our boat around the country. We are definitely with you: water = happiness.
i just have to say that I love you guys, makes me happy to see a family travel like y'all are doing, these are going to be the memories the kiddos are going to be telling their kids. keep up the great job.

It was good to be back home , we’ve only been back one time since then, this was about a year and 1/2 ago. They are doing well, morning the recent loss in the play offs by the Patriots 🙈
Finding Our Someday Yeah I have mucho relatives in MA and VT. Try being a Rays fan around Sox crazies! I took my son to see Fenway Park on the. 100th Aniversary and guess they were playing??? The Rays!!! Plus Rays won that day! I think there were 5 Rays fans in the whole place but everyone was cool when we cheered strike-outs. Fernando Rodney pitched the last inning and even the Sox fans were impressed at the speed of his fastball. Yes I love America’s Pastime Spirt!! Keep it, your channel is funny and great!!!👍🏻
i stay on 84 to avoid the tolls....its always nice to see the sign ===ALL MAINE POINTS!!! will be headed up next month hopefully!!! 1st place to park the camper Kittery Trading Post for the 1st night for free;) enjoyed the video!!!
Deer Farm thank so much for watching! We really appreciate it! We love seeing that sign! It welcomes us home! Hope you have an amazing trip up and that you enjoy your time in such a wonderful place!
Thanks for the Great tips avoiding tolls and New Jersey!! We've driven many years along 95 and into New Jersey Turnpike and Garden state parkway to CT. So many tolls, bad roads, and heavy traffic. Because of your video, we actually figured out a way to go inland a bit and by pass D.C., Baltimore, NJ, and more!!! We went around them all and crossed the bridge, that you recommended, that is north of the Tapenzee bridge; it was only $1.50 for us!!! We actually drove it two weeks ago to from NC to Connecticut and back. Wow!!! Not only did we save about $70 in tolls each way, we fell in love with the beautiful and relaxing roads traveling through mountains and farmland; all while bypassing the craziness along the coast. Thanks so much! We love your channel! We've been watching since the beginning. Keep up with creating great videos and content.
Lance McCormick Awesome to read this! Glad to hear it gave you a different perspective! Did it add much time to the trip? $70 is a lot! Did you cross the Hudson on 84 or bear mountain? Try bear mountain one time it’s a stunning drive😃
@@FindingOurSomeday Even though our new route was about 100 miles longer, it took about the same amount of time; since we didn't have all the traffic issues that normally bog us down. We crossed on the 84, it was $1.50 going east, but was ZERO going west. Loved the new drive!!! We'll definitely have to give Bear Mountain a try!
@@FindingOurSomeday Yes, over bridge on 84. dollar fifty toll going, free going south! Will be trying lot of places when we go full time! Thanks for tip!!
You guys were in my neck of the woods! 84 goes through my town. I agree 100% stay out of Jersey if you can. Besides the tolls some roads don’t allow trucks and trailers, just like in NY. You can’t take a trailer on Parkways expect there is one in NJ that you can. Also the drivers are crazy in NJ and near NYC. We unfortunately have to travel through NJ to get down south. Enjoy your time in Maine! That’s on my camping bucket list to visit.
Becca Casseday we try to avoid Jersey even in just a car! Hope you can get to Maine someday soon! We always suggest August through September for the best weather and a chance to see the foliage. Thanks for watching and following along with us!
@@FindingOurSomeday I know I'm a veteran and never missed home till I came back....crazy huh? But we are looking forward to seeing the west and as much of this country as possible. New Hampshire Joe thanks for your service! I was based in Norfolk, VA, in the Navy and felt the same way. You will love the West and I bet going back to Alaska will be a major highlight! Are you guys on the road already?
Lol... our stories are kinda similar, in that we also sold (gave away, threw away) everything we owned. We are from Northern NH (Berlin) and known lake Sabago as well (we are with the Salvation Army, and of course, we have a beautiful camp there). We went the "Skoolie" route, and we left Northern NH in January on a -13° day... that ended up taking us 2 days of 'leaving'. We headed to South Carolina, in where we have been "stalled" here for the last year+ doing the final conversions we needed to do to make this "Skoolie" our home. We are finally about to head out, going to Florida to spend a few month visiting family and friends during the winter season. Maybe we can meet up someday and exchange stories of back home, and our travels... God Speed to you! By the way, we have 3 boys and a girl, and all of us living in this 40ft home.. lol our kids are about the same ages as yours!!!
Eric Catman that’s awesome! We know that camp on Sebago well! Jess and I graduated with a girl whose parents were with Salvation Army and we hung out at the camp the night we graduated from high school! Small world. The Skoolie conversion sounds great! Congratulations on getting close to hitting the road! Safe travels and thanks so much for watching!
Great to see Maine again. Three of the best years I spent in the Navy were there. Absolutely loved it, even the endless winters. A great toll gadget is the EPass Uni, from the Central Florida Express Authority. For an initial $.14.95 outlay, you get a candy bar-sized transponder with suction cups, and it's good for all of the EZ Pass states, as well as the I-Pass in Illinois, the Peach Pass in Georgia, all of the Florida toll roads, and the North Carolina toll roads. That's 18 states in total. It's also good for airport parking at Orlando. I've paired it in my coach with the Pike Pass from OK, which is good for the toll roads in OK, KS, and TX. Great advice on avoiding the tolls, also. Our daughter went to college in New Hampshire, and I would drive hours out of way to avoid I-95, the Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway when we came up to see her. Yahd work? Who does yahd work in Maine? When I lived there my yard was covered in snow nine months of the year . . . or so it seemed. When the snow was gone, the mosquitoes and black flies arrived, so it was much safer to hang out at the O Club at NAS Brunswick. Great episode, as always. Love the drone work. BTW, all those swooshes on the side of RVs are a surrealist representation of highways fading into the distance. That was cool for the first couple of years. Now manufacturers can't think of anything else.
@@FindingOurSomeday I live in Franklin county. Moved out of state after highschool, living in Massachusetts and Colorado, but came back to be closer to family and raise my son.
Coming back from a road trip, there's always that moment when we cross the border on the Piscataqua bridge. Just crossing the state line already feels like home.
Acme Racing it’s funny that you say that, cause we filmed going over the same bridge and explaining your exact sentiments. It means we’re home! We didn’t have it in the video because the film was so dark and I looked miserable in it after driving 13 hours😂 When we are in a car, we always take the Tappan Zee. 👍
I use it too going to VT every year and hope to hit Maine and Acadia, etc. in 2020. Only now they changed the name of the new bridge but I’m sure we will all keep calling it the Tappan Zee. I even used it as a navigation landmark when flying up there.
Next time you are in South East Florida swing by our house. I've got more than enough yard work to keep you busy for a couple of days. LOL Love watching your videos, you do a great job on them. Keep them coming.
We just spent about a month in SE Florida 😂 down in Homestead. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos! I’m in the process of flowing your comment trail, I love it !
We've not had to pay super crazy tolls yet but I think just with a car on road trips we've had a high of about $8. Jess you look very much alike with your sister. So special. I'm sure it was so hard not to have your dad there but you still have each other and I'm sure he would be so happy to see you so happy doing what he couldn't.
Well, I am at Blueberry Pond RV park right now. I have made several trips to Main (live in Texas). Like you we are up here for an family event. Our grandson graduated high school last Sunday. They live in Cumberland. Fun part of the trip up was stopping and seeing his sister graduate from college at Cornell. The EZ-Pass is definitely the way to go. You would waste to much time and energy trying to get around in the NE if you didn't drive some toll roads. Just remember "Friends don't let friends drive the GW bridge". By the way my first and last toll on the GW was $76.00. That is probably my highest.
WILLIAM COOLEY haha! Definitely don’t want any of our friends paying that toll! Where in Texas? My parents live in Corpus Christi now. We have spent a lot of time driving through that big state! 😂 Congrats to your grandson!
@@FindingOurSomeday I live in the Mid cities area near Fort Worth. On the way up we stopped in Ithaca NY at Cornell to see Granddaughter graduate in 3 1/2 years with honors, yes we are proud of them.
What a well produced video! I just discovered your channel and subscribed. My husband and I and our six-year-old are weekend RVers in our Winnebago Micro Minnie. We live in New Jersey and I have to let you know that out here in western New Jersey bordering Pennsylvania there are hardly any tolls at all. Not only that but it’s gorgeous country out here, horse farms, mountains and terrific state parks are all around us. I totally get the toll rip off thing though. Growing up I always heard they collected tolls until the bridge or tunnel was paid for. Then I realized they never stop collecting tolls LOL. So New Jersey closer to New York City for sure is an expensive ride. But out here there are no tolls at all other than the one dollar to get to the Delaware water gap and Poconos in Pennsylvania. Safe travels!
sean808080 thanks for watching and subscribing! We almost went with a Winnebago travel trailer. We love the interiors of the new Winnebagos! I hope we were clear when we discussed avoiding New York and New Jersey that we were referring to the coastal sections of those states and the busier cities in those states. That area near Pennsylvania is beautiful! Thanks so much for clarifying for everyone! Safe travels and hope you guys have a wonderful summer! 😎

LOL............all punts aside, we agree it is relaxing to take pride in keeping up the grounds.
New Beginnings with Budhi and Cyndi 😂 we really do love helping out wherever we are staying! Where is home base for you guys? Are you building on the property? I went to Camp Runoia and they will be having their 115th anniversary next year... so hopefully then. We are headed to BC this summer and will be going through Quebec and then north of Superior this time... time to stand the kiddo on the Plains of Abraham and watch the boats come up the St. Lawrence from the Chateau Frontenac. My kiddo is 14 now and we are reaching the panic of "teaching him everything before he stops listening to us" stage... lol... and I have to agree that watching him start to define his future is making me heart sing. So go sit on a pier and have a lobster for me... looking forward to your next adventure.
Lake Lili that sounds awesome! We still have eastern Canada to explore someday and the Great Lakes. These teen years are definitely more mentally challenging for us as parents than we were thinking it would be, but it really is great to see them grow through these seasons of life. Thanks for watching and supporting us in our journey!
Thanks for the toll information. Unfortunately too late. Our toll down in the Bronx was $84.00!!!! I spent just south of $300.00 on tolls this summer, from Cape Charles, VA, to Cape Cod. UGH! Loved Maine. New York.....not so much. Thanks for sharing.
Ted D. Oh no! I thought I was underestimating that toll. It’s tough to decipher the website toll chart with different classes and times of day... gps loves to take people that route, I think it’s a conspiracy 🧐
Staying out of NJ is a great tip. I-84 is another and staying inland to avoid populated areas are also great tips for coming up here. Awesome video Thanks

Always Changing Life so awesome! We sold our house ourselves and it was the best choice we could have made. Our buyer had a realtor but we negotiated her percentage down to get the price we wanted. It was such an easy process, I don’t know why others don’t do it. The only advice we would offer is not to freak out when the inspection report comes back. You don’t have to do everyone they ask. It is just a point to start negotiations. Also, be ready to say no if it isn’t what you want. The perfect buyer will come along! Best of luck to you guys! 😃
Love this video again Corey. Loved when you visited friends and family and went to a wedding and talked about Maine and your jobs. Corey you do remind me if Tim the tool man Taylor kind of guy. You definitely should get to Maine if you can. We always suggest August and September as the best months to go. That little chapel is at the edge of a cemetery in Portland and it is free to use the church for weddings and events. My sister and one of Corey’s brothers have been married there. It is just beautiful inside and out! More ideas for your trip to Maine in our next episode! 😁
We are starting to have tollshere in Colorado but definitely not like out east. Little overwhelming to think of pulling our rig out east, lots of homework I guess for bridges or tolls
Wells On Wheels there are a few things to think about but it is still so worth it to be able to check out the Northeast. We hope the tips help to encourage you to go see our beautiful home state and to do it spending less and in a safer way! 😁
That was an awesome trick on the SUP. Now I got to to get everyone to try that. How many takes until she figured that out? The photos are always so crisp and amazing. Thank you for showing the beautiful places you have been.
Sue Kelderhouse that place is the best! Our girls love to explore the rocks and cool caves there! It was a stunning wedding. We were missing my Dad, but it was still such a special and precious night for our family. 😊 Thanks so much for watching! - Jessie
We love going up to Two Lights by the Lobster Shack. We find some of the best, most active tidal pools on those rocks. Crabs, starfish, all kinds of creatures. As for tolls, if you use EZPass, don't get a special transponder for your camper/trailer. You don't need it. If you do, they ask you your length, weight, and height. This puts you up into a commercial truck toll class, instead of a class 2-4 axles. Across NY state that more than doubled our tolls from what they should be.
Anthony Fillion we enjoy the Lobster Shack as well. Some friends of ours own it. They are very good people! 😃 Good advice about EZ Pass. Definitely don’t want to be doubling any tolls😳 Thanks for watching!
I had to go to a hospital in NYC and I about choked when they said 30 bucks cash to cross the GW bridge and I agree completely to avoid NJ at all costs ..😁
Dale Lewis definitely a good state to skip if you don’t have to go through it. Corey also can’t stand anyone touching our truck so he naturally steers clear of states (like Jersey) where you can’t pump your own gas! 😂
Our first trip with a rental trailer went really well and we learned a lot, including the fact that we shouldn't just focus on towables so hope to rent a class c in october and your toll discussion about number of axles makes me wonder if driving a towed vehicle separately from a two axle rv would be cheaper on toll roads?
InMyImage so sorry we missed your comment! Technically you might save a little but you would end up spending way more in gas. I wouldn’t recommend making any RV purchasing decisions on tolls. I do think it is a great decision to rent something to really get the feel for how you like to RV. Best way to narrow down your decision! Best of luck to you as you choose a rig! 😃
Taking those swirls and swooshes off of the RV is more trouble than it is worth. Using a heat gun is not great for the surface of the RV walls. They can blister and show where heat was applied markedly. On top of that, the paint has been fading on the rest of the RV but not under the decals. When you get done, you now have the swirls and swooshes but now they are the brighter part of the surrounding area. You saw them when you bought it and you bought it anyway. Don't focus on the exterior graphics. You bought it for its functionality. Enjoy the reasons for which you bought it!
W Carl Hepker you’re right about the fading. I may have missed my window of opportunity. When we first got the RV, I pulled some of the graphics off easily, but at this point the rest of it may have faded more. The best thing to do for graphics is to let the sun heat it up and then peel off, instead of using a heat gun. Thanks so much for watching and for the input!
your sister looks very nice like you . you can ride in a 5th wheel . and if you travel in KY. On i 65 it is a toll road you don't stop and pay they send you a bill . be safe
Yes take off the graphics, if the are not sponsors of y’alls why give them free advertising coast to coast? Y’all are awesome love this channel. Thank y’all for all the time it takes to make and upload these videos.
I agree I don’t like decals on rv’s there all the same looking. Aren’t you the family that spent the summer with “Less Junk, More Journey” last summer in Alaska? Are you going back?
Where in Maine? I live in Washington, Maine. I-84 is the best to the Milford, Pennsylvania-Delaware Gap to Stroud Pennsylvania, I-80 and south or west.

Can I ask your route? I am pulling a trailer from Richmond VA (on I95) to Saint John’s Canada at the end of June. Google maps add an hour to go western routes.
Paddleboy if you’re not stopping at any place on the coast at all, that extra hour will save you a ton on tolls and driving stress. You may actually cut that hour down depending on traffic near big cities. Safe travels on your trip!
Oh my goodness! Tom is always saying how he just doesn’t understand why every single RV manufacturer thought it was a good idea to put swooshes all over the RVs 😂
Hey Cory what do you do to keep the graphics on your RV from oxidizing? On mine it seems the light colours are worst. I keep the RV waxed but it hasn’t helped much.
Jd 338 all graphics will eventually fade over time. The best thing you can do is keep it out of the sun. Park in the shade, have your awning out and park it South facing when you can so your awning can cover the most graphics. Keep it clean. Contaminates heat up more and start bonding and eating into the protective coatings. Wax is your best friend. Specifically a synthetic sealant or ceramic coating. Traditional waxes only offer a couple months of protection. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hey guys! So is there an app or something that helps you figure our what the tolls would be on your route? When I use Google maps to plans the route, I can see there are tolls, but no way to determine how much it is and if I need to avoid it.
Wendy Mayo there is an online toll calculator, but I haven’t had much luck with it. New York, New Jersey and Maryland are the most expensive so avoiding as many toll roads through those states is best. And the George Washington Bridge! 👍
Julie H definitely as much as we can. It isn’t always possible without adding lots of time and miles, so we have to take that into account, but we also avoid bad traffic as much as we can because it creates more opportunities for accidents or stress avoiding the crazies pulling into us or cutting us off.😳 We also adjust the times we travel to fit the traffic schedule, even if it means driving at night. 😃
Great video. Love following your journeys. Please be careful when positioning yourself between the truck and trailer when hitching up. One slip of the foot off the brake pedal could prove hazardous.
Elvis Tam 😂we are all about some manual labor! Honestly though, besides being physical and outside and taking pride in what you have, we also think it is important for the girls to learn how to pitch in on outdoor chores and know how to weed and garden and keep up a property. They have recently been helping weed and remove a rock wall from a family member’s yard. 💪
@@FindingOurSomeday That's great that you install that work ethic into your kids. I am starting to do the same with my kids, although a rock garden might be a little too tough for them at their age haha. Elvis Tam kids are sponges and just having them out with you teaches them so much. Well done on instilling such important character traits in your kids. Spell check got me again!
i stay on 84 to avoid the tolls....its always nice to see the sign ===ALL MAINE POINTS!!! will be headed up next month hopefully!!!
Lance McCormick best of luck to you guys as you move closer to going full-time! 👍
Holland Tunnel NJ: $15 Hit!!
@@FindingOurSomeday Planning Trip to MAINE in October... Acadia Nat'l Park, Fall Folliage, Etc..
Rogue Ranger that’s s decent toll😬
Rogue Ranger we always tell people that we recommend Maine from August to October! Love it that time of year! 👍
Welcome Home guys
New Hampshire Joe thanks so much! It is always such a good feeling to go back home!
@@FindingOurSomeday I know I'm a veteran and never missed home till I came back....crazy huh? But we are looking forward to seeing the west and as much of this country as possible. I was stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks Alaska and envy your trip north ...Be safe and happy and BTW beautiful family
You're footage/drone shots are top notch. From one Mainer to another 👍
Everard Cooper I really appreciate reading this, thank you 🙏 Are you still in Maine, or have you moved away?

Coming back from a road trip, there's always that moment when we cross the border on the Piscataqua bridge. Just crossing the state line already feels like home.
The George Washington Bridge is a zoo at all hours. The Tappan Zee is the way to go even without an RV.
Another visually stunning video. Great job guys!

Hey, NJ is our old stomping ground. But I have to agree it should be avoided at all costs if just passing through. I agree, Sebago Lake is incredible.
Next time you are in South East Florida swing by our house. I've got more than enough yard work to keep you busy for a couple of days. LOL Love watching your videos, you do a great job on them. Keep them coming.

WILLIAM COOLEY we love to be able to go to special events for family members more often now that we are on the road! 👍
GOD has definitely BLESSED you guys you are living our dream for my wife and I to see the our great nation and what it has to offer . You guys ( fos ) crew are truly amazing hope you can make it to southern Ohio someday would love to meet you all
We are having to use the chain saw often in clearing our homebase, and keeping the area that we have cleared mowed, so anytime you want to stay on our property we would greatly accept the opportunity of having you relax by assisting if you want. This parenting thing is such a roller coaster! 😊 We have family near Waterville. Glad you have had the chance to enjoy our beautiful lakes! Will you be able to get back to Maine again soon?

COREY cleans up well
He sure does! 😉 - Jess
I go MA to FL many times with my trailer, always go 84, anything closer to NY is just too much stress.
Ted Staples exactly! FL is a great place to get away from the cold in the Northeast! We have loved our last 2 winters in the sunshine state!😎

@@FindingOurSomeday beautiful ride down through. Long ride from PA through Tennessee.
Finding Our Someday No problem, thx for the extra factors to consider as we think through the process.
InMyImage feel free to message us on Instagram or Facebook at Finding Our Someday if you have any other questions as you narrow down your search!
Finding Our Someday Thx!
On i 65 it is a toll road you don't stop and pay they send you a bill . be safe

was that Hedi (NCSI at the wedding reception?
Was that the Newburgh beacon bridge I 84?
Can I ask your route? I am pulling a trailer from Richmond VA (on I95) to Saint John’s Canada at the end of June. Google maps add an hour to go western routes.
Paddleboy if you’re not stopping at any place on the coast at all, that extra hour will save you a ton on tolls and driving stress. You may actually cut that hour down depending on traffic near big cities. Safe travels on your trip!
Oh my goodness! Tom is always saying how he just doesn’t understand why every single RV manufacturer thought it was a good idea to put swooshes all over the RVs 😂
Live More With Less it really doesn’t make sense to me at all. I would love to have it free of all decals!
Stihl.
Chris Edward 😂😂😂
If you are avoiding those toll roads that you mentioned, are you also staying out of large cities and lots of traffic?
Julie H definitely as much as we can. It isn’t always possible without adding lots of time and miles, so we have to take that into account, but we also avoid bad traffic as much as we can because it creates more opportunities for accidents or stress avoiding the crazies pulling into us or cutting us off.😳 We also adjust the times we travel to fit the traffic schedule, even if it means driving at night. 😃
Great video. Love following your journeys. Please be careful when positioning yourself between the truck and trailer when hitching up. One slip of the foot off the brake pedal could prove hazardous.
Gregg Jarvies good advice! Thanks for watching!
Ohio turnpike and indiana. Ohio i think i paid $140 and indiana about $170
Going into New York you pay a toll across the George Washington coming back you don't pay no toll
Michael Leonard that’s a really good tip. Yeah, you’re right, there are a lot of bridges and tolls like that. Thanks so much for watching!
How do y’all earn money on the road?
You want yard work? I got plenty of it, come on over!
I plan to get an RV in the next year and hopefully one day I can see you on the roads of the north east or where ever :)
Elvis Tam kids are sponges and just having them out with you teaches them so much. Well done on instilling such important character traits in your kids. It makes every job harder at first to have little ones help, but it makes your life (and their future spouse’s life) much easier down the road! Congrats on making plans for your RV and getting on the road! Hoping we can meet up “someday”! 😉
Maine + summer = One of God’s greatest states!! My daughter asked to go to Acadia for a graduation trip last year. Flew from Houston to Boston then rented a car. Stayed at Bar Harbor. So, so amazing! I could live there May-Sept🤗🥰❤️
Julianne Coogler perfect equation! 👌 Looks like she chose a great place to celebrate! We would love to spend late summers in Maine and travel the rest of the year. Someday! 😉
Finding Our Someday I’ll join you! I ❤️ Maine!! Heat index in Houston is forecasted at 110 this weekend!😩🔥 🥴
Julianne Coogler sounds like a plan! My parents live in Corpus Christi and we have driven through Texas in the summer!😅
Planning a Trip to ACADIA come October.. Looking Forward to it..
Rogue Ranger Acadia is spectacular! And October will be great weather!
Welcome back to the "State of Pain" ! Where the governor is spending like a drunken sailor.
Brian Fasulo I heard the money was going fast😳😱
Janet Mills has not read the Maine Constitution lately! If she did we would be a rich State. They should all be taken out & hung for treasonous acts against our citizens...."THE PEOPLE" It's corruption at its finest in Maine!
