We've finally found the one thing Matt Mercent can't do: play Jester.
But oh my goodness, Liam’s jester is spot on though. I could just see Lauras embodiment of jester being channeled through Liam.
@@jamesansell3636 Must have been all that time playing as twins in the previous campaign and now Liam can channel Laura's characters.
Yeah. He can't. It's inching closer, but he doesn't have the same impulsive mind. He only really picked up on her positive outlook.
@@MagizardInternet That's not true, but Jester is pretty unpredictable. She's a surprisingly nuanced character, as her name may suggest. She is both a childlike lover of whimsy and one of the strongest mental and physical members of the party. She is impulsive and intentionally funny and dumb at times, but she has a ton of heart. She also has an incredible amount of denial surrounding her past. Her childhood and past is honestly a pretty negative one, and it probably should have turned her into a different person, but because she is so committed to not realizing the severity of a lot of the things that happened to her in her old life, that's what gives her her positivity.
You can't really predict randomness, and you need to be able to have Jester's sheer inquisitiveness and randomness in order to truly play her. Liam is able to embody Jester very well though.
Honestly taking on the mantle of Jester is a burden only few can carry

She may not be the most powerful, but she is the most noticeably missed player of the group if she's gone this campaign. Laura MVP
She is so perfectly off the wall
You don’t know what you have until you are missing it. I also feel she is much needed comic relief (everyone is funny but she is so off the cuff it’s so refreshing)

Seeing as jester was looking for her father i feel like matt had plans on how to introduce him into the story, but then marisha decided beau went and did that and he thought to himself "hmm i could lay that thread right now"

cj chillax sure, but he’s good with people beaus compliments sound like insults, Caleb is the quiet nerd boi, not many NPCs trust nott as a goblin and his charisma is 5, jester messes with people and cheats in card games, molly says he’s weird himself in character, and Yasha is practically invisible

I did question at the time the wisdom of having the flashy purple DEVIL seen out on the street. And it's not the first time the teiflings were front and center in situations where they would probably prefer not to be remembered.
@@JDub-TV to be fair, Jester could actually disguise self. So her being upfront wasn't an issue, even as a Tiefling.
As for the Molly, I mean that just was not wise at all. Especially when Matt was throwing out massive hints with literally every NPC either being disgusted, distrustful, or at least making note of his heritage. It's like the black/white guy being in a 1950s white/black neighborhood and some heavy shit goes down. Best believe that everyone made note of your presence

@@atomicbuttocks how do you deal with final act being capture everything on 4 different playthroughs. Bc that was honestly my only gripe with the game, it's obvious padding that didn't need to be there or at least that long. It's been a while since I last played but don't you have to recapture like 10 or 15 forts in order to finish it.

Me... I was on speaking terms with people from every possible level, from the lowly nerds to the popular girls, the athletes, band kids, gamers, etc. And at a high school of over 2000 kids, there were maybe 6 or 8 people that I actually liked talking to.
This was so me, except I learned most people are great 1 on 1, but get them into groups and everything goes to shit.
See, I took the opposite approach. I rarely ever made a friend, but when I did, they were a person I could actually, kind of, just about, maybe, almost tolerate in small doses. It was great.
Molly at some point said he was in the carnival for about 2 years, but he also said he had been in the carnival his whole life.

he said he'd been in the carnival "as long as he reasonably could remember" :)

@@lukassnakeman yes, near the end of the zone of truth Fjord ask him if the power he does with his swords is his power and not power in the swords. Molly confirms this and says the prayers he does are not for the swords and that was for show
I love that Laura knew that Liam does the best Jester impression, and decided to message him for all questions and RP decisions.
It was actually a group text, Matt corrected Liam on what Laura said at least once, and Sam represented her at many points. Liam just took on the role of reading aloud

The weirdest thing is it's really more of a child like innocence more than anything but she is like 28 in cannon which makes me feel wierd everytime she talks I love jester and laura but her childish personality combined with her actual age just gives me the hibbie jibbies

After jester casts zone of truth, Molly immediately gets more emotional. He opens up the walls that were up...that's a great way to play out that spells effects.
But didn't like the way Tal chose to play Molly towards Nott at the end. That was just lashing out.

I'm in love with the Fjord-Beau good cop-bad cop routine. You'd think the warlock would play bad cop and the monk would play good cop, but they have the script flipped and it's beautiful to watch. A true masterpiece of comedy and acting
Meh, it just comes off like Beau wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants to call people out for wronging others, especially Nott, when she wrongs people all the time.
She is also like, "you must trust me and be a team" one moment, and then she says "if you run off with my stuff I will beat your ass". Who is supposed to trust who? Beau doesn't trust Nott, but she expects Nott to trust her? Its just backwards logic.
@@shuheihisagi6689 Beau is immature and hot-headed, it's a part of the character, she's hypocritical and contradictory often because she has very few set morals, and usually just wants to piss people off and get her way however that may come. It's intentional, and I think its hard to ignore how comedic that archetype can be when paired with a more "straight man" like Fjord.
@@kubafin1376 I am further down the line now, and I can appericate her growth as a character. Because I feel she was facing tougher choices. Its just really hard to root for someone in the beginning when they have almost no likeble traits for the first 15 episodes.
I disagree that she wasnt very likeable in th3 first 15 episodes. She mightve been a bit gruff but her hypocritical brand of 'no bs' is entertaining to play out to see how it affects the group

@@travisbishop3282 I think it might be the difference between an item he created for the intention of selling, and a commission. I imagine that the school place orders heaps of commissions and he makes most of his money through that. But in store sales may not be as common.

Jester is such a memorable character that even though she wasn't talking in the bar, I could hear her talking the whole time. Lol
Knowing what we know now, Taliesin did a great job of stringing Kree along and got some really good information. It must have driven Matt crazy to hold onto it all for so long.
I do wish I could learn how he was intending to use Lucien with Molly active in the M9.

I think its the funniest shit that last episode Molly and Beau were all up in Nott and Caleb's grill about taking the scrolls and getting everyone caught but this episode The Gentleman is like yo lmao yall know that the purple tiefling and the darkskinned woman were the ones caught on the scene and that just tickles me real good lolololol
I missed that until watching this the second time through. It hadn't occurred to me that Beau has dark skin. Tan, sure, but I didn't realize it was "dark." So when the Gentleman mentioned "tiefling and dark-skinned woman" I was like, "Huh? Who did? Ahh, never mind."

@@benjaminZ20 To be fair though, they got caught while trying to carry out their jobs in the mission. Caleb was making a deliberate choice for personal gain.
@@PwnyGOD which is why they grouped up in the first place. Honestly Matt left them a ton of goodies that they just all left behind. I'm pretty sure the reason the crick assasin had so much platinum was because they left behind the safe filled with platinum earlier. After the carpet incident there was no reason to leave "no trace".

I like to imagine that she would play him for his jacket or something and then try to give the jacket to Caleb or something.
She's so chaotic and random, it's hard to pin down what she'd do but it would've been entertaining.

For all that she's sweet and protective of Caleb, she's still a goblin, and that means she's going to do stupid things and takes stupid risks to acquire shiny things. It's a compulsion. Also, she thought the "test" would kill the Gentleman and they'd have him out of their hair and be blameless in how it happened.

@@betterdeadthanred7410 It's concerning that they keep belittling her the first time around but watching this for the second time it's hilarious how much they underestimate her. Nott's int. is literally 2nd highest in the group.
This is entirely consistent with Beau's philosophy of "I don't care what you do on your time just don't involve the group in your bullshit."

I think my favorite thing about this campaign so far is yasha, and how they incorporated Ashely not always being there in to her character wandering off to do some businesses and just reappearing out of nowhere XD,
Except for Sam, who did not notice that his incessant "but where were you" joke was only funny once.
Personally I love how they still include Ashley even though she couldn’t be there for many weeks because of her schedule. I think for many introverts, it would truly mean a lot when friends still include you. I know it would for me
@@kitten-inside I don't think he was trying to be funny, he was trying to be in character. It's pretty ridiculous that nobody else in the group was that bothered about finding out more about her when she's been extremely mysterious and shady. They've just been involved in some massive political scheme, it makes no sense that they would all just be cool with Yasha hanging around them despite them knowing absolutely nothing about her.
And as nice as Ashley seems, I find it pretty disappointing that she didn't seem to spend any time off camera preparing some explanation of where she had been and what she had been doing during her absence. I think Sam's relentless questioning was a combination of Nott's realistic suspicion/curiosity, and Sam trying to give Ashley some opportunity to actually give her character some depth, but she just completely failed at the improv and seemed to hide behind "Yasha isn't ready to reveal her secrets yet", despite the fact that there's no way the rest of the party would actually let that slide.
I actually think the way they've handled Ashley/Yasha's absence has been pretty lazy and broken a lot of immersion. If I were in Ashley's position I would think the least I could do would be to spend an hour or two deciding what my character would realistically have been doing during those times I wasn't at the table.
@@DOKTORPUSZ As much as I love these guys and this campaign, from where I'm at so far I agree 100%. Hope to see something change a little further on now that Ashley actually came back at this point, but it's definitely been very out of character and frustrating that everyone implicitly trusts Yasha whose been there like, 10% of the time so far and whose PC is lazy about backstory.
@@chuckn4851 I'm up to episode 70 now and we have explored more of Yasha's character, but I feel like most of that has just been down to Matt doing some serious DM'ing. It kinda feels a lot like Yasha is a character that Matt made, and Ashley is just playing as her every couple of months. I'm still enjoying it though and I bear Ashley no ill will at all. I can't exactly expect much more from her end considering she's absent for more sessions than she's present, and I doubt she has the time to have watched the full 4 hour session every week to stay fully in the loop.

I think the implication was pretty clear that they didn't actually have an option there. They would have either been forced to do it, killed outright, or kidnapped.
To be fair, it was pretty clear there wasnt a choice being given. They were taking their blood, either they could give them a small amount willingly, or they take far more then they needed by force.
I think OP's point is that they didn't really even question it at all and also didn't at least ask if they could discuss it as a group first.
It really was a: "Be my slaves" with no desire to reflect on the matter.

Lucien sounds so evil. Poor Molly wanted nothing to do with whatever evil person had a ritual, got creepy eye marks and blood powers, and got buried in the ground.

I don't even think Travis had full knowledge of the mechanics of the card game. 7, 5, 3 is the second best on each roll but did he know to add or was Travis just guessing. I haven't watched in Talking shows so if Travis discuss it then I would like to know. If Travis didn't know then the last bet was amazing.

Travis is such an underrated smart roleplayer. You see him figure stuff out before everyone else at the table ALL THE TIME! Yet because he played Grog some people still think he's just a big funny man. He's brilliant.

I love Taliesin freaking out about the Lucien reveal AND the spread of guns in Exandria at the same time. Every once in a while Matt really knows how to torture a player.
That is how you make player choices have consequences, percy made guns, and they'd get to other places then whitestone thanks to ripley eventually. Taliesin gets to feel what travis did when it came to the herd and the kevdak bs. That shit will come to hit you like it or not.

I am consistently amazed at Liam's level of roleplay in this show, it's as if he treats it just like any other voice acting job... Like he's not here to play a game, he's here to play a character.

I believe in a talks machina taliesin did say he knows nothing about what's happening now; it's all matt's creation. I think he asked for a specific theme (cosmic horror) for lucien's life, which is why he told matt something along the lines of "this is the best gift you've ever given me" during a particularly intense moment in eiselcross, when beau and caleb had the nightmare.
Bandit dude: "There was this big octagonal dome chamber..."

Yeah, it was so funny!!!! Not that long ago, the entire group called a guard a douche because he kept Caleb out of the upper crust area, after Caleb's alter-self was dispelled and the guard made fun of him....but when the gang is the one making fun of some guys that know their limits ... hell, that's f*ing hilarious!!! (smfh that people like it when their group gangs up to make fun of people but hate it when that group is made fun of). Yeah, yeah. I know....it's just a game, but they were really being douchy to the three guys without realizing that they were being major hypocrites.
I was a bit annoyed there. I felt they were stepping on the NPC's lines and not giving him a chance to talk. Like if you want information your going to take some time to actually listen to it. Case in point you missed the bit about a purple glow which was likely their reason for the bandits' apprehension but now it will be a bad surprise.
Then again I was more on Sam's side regarding M9 supposedly knowing Molly's backstory. I thought that would allow them to get more information until Taliesin used the ignorance to have the group ask questions. So maybe I'm just wrong. Unlike that situation however nothing Fjord or Beau did with the bandit changed my mind.
As much as I love Grog, Travis as Fjord is just awesome. The sass towards the Gentleman’s men was perfect.

Probably texting a what's app group, and he was just reading it first. There's points where Sam says what Jesture is doing, and other points where travis and Matt both know what is being said.
Gunnar Eilers also keep in mind Liam is like Laura’s best friend aside from Travis. He might know how to play her character better than Travis would.
