Hi professor, I was hoping you could help me out with an issue I'm having. When I click on the link to claim the whatnot funds, I -for some reason- get told to input a Canadian number and cannot change this to any other country. So I'm stuck being outside of Canada without a Canadian phone number and can't use your link to participate...
I have same issue as @kenihasaj4971 that it shows a Canadian flag with +1 but clicking doesn't allow us to change, so can't use your code rofl. You should've said only works for US/Canada 😕
No joke I know Commander Masters was not a huge success, especially in regards to the box prices, but I really want a second one purely for more of the beautiful full arts. I’ve swapped all of my Sol Rings, Arcane Signets, Command Towers, Jeweled Lotus, and so many more cards because the full arts in the set are so good. Modern Horizons 3 did a good job at continuing this with the full art enemy fetchlands, and now we really need the ally fetchlands with new full arts.
@@TolarianCommunityCollegethey couldn't have hated it too much cuz they still gave you a Doctor Who reveal 🤷 Or was Doctor Who before Christmas? There's too many sets to keep track of....
I don't really see myself getting into modern horizons 3. Even ignoring the price, the set as a whole just does not do anything for me. instead, I might pick up one of the decks I missed out on from another set or something.
I still cant believe so many MTG players gamble their money away so hard. I spent some time organizing my cards recently and every single time I was in a pocket of cards I got from set boosters not a single one was over $1, then I got like 2 scans into a commander precon or some singles I took out a while ago and they were consistently dinging for more than a dollar. Buying packs pretty much only guarantees that your collection of useless cardboard will get heavier, with the possibility of getting something 'valuable', and an even smaller possibility of you getting something you wanted.
@@eewweeppkk My suggestion? take a dive through world history and it'll expand your knowledge of human nature that'll explain everything. I would say that said I had the most luck with as far as boosters was probably murders. but, outlaws definitely comes in second.
After you saved me from the Fallout over priced fiasco and I saved money by getting the commander decks you have become my new favorite MTG guru. Thank you good sir. I still want that Eldrazi deck though
Uhh, what rule is being referenced that says Invert Polarity would get past Allosaurus Shepherd? The Shepherd just says, “Green spells can’t be countered.” The lost-flip text on I. Polarity says you’re Countering target spell…
Fanatic of Rhonas is a must include in any deck with green. Mana dork that can add 4 mana, and if can be eternalized as 4/4 (which already fulfills it's 4 mana add requirement of power 4 or greater).
The new dreamtide whale is great for any proliferate deck, not only it's a threat it's also a proliferation engine on the opponents turn, just awesome.
In the mtg universe do you think baby centaurs nurse their young with the human nipples or the horse ones? I think a lore video exploring this could be a good topic for a video
Is it like a horse where it can stand up from birth but the human half is floppy and can’t stay upright? If so it probably couldn’t reach the horse nipples. You’d likely have to strap the baby half to the horse half to stop it from hurting itself from flailing around when running
not around where I live. Pretty much all of them has given up on cracking then selling singles since the beginning of the year. The values on singles are just not high enough. :(
Yeah nah, There's a single store of like 7? nearby that have singles for sale and their prices are usually at least 5 times the online price (for cheap-ish stuff). I rather just buy boosters than buy singles there. But lets face it, online is the way to go.
The instant I saw "Invert Polarity", my Arena-addled mind immediately thought of Standard Brawl format and putting it in a Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot deck.
The card I'm most excited for is unstable amulet for my Ob Nixilis captive kingpin deck! It literally just gives me card advantage (and commander damage) just for playing card from exiles, which will give me more cards to play from exile and so on and so forth until either I finish my mana or I finish my opponents
This set is so unbelievably pushed lol. Even the commons are extremely good, maybe not commander staples but they outshine anything released in the past 5 months.
Sowing Mycospawn & Urza's Cave both fetch land cards, which is awesome. Mycospawn can occassionaly exile a problematic land, and Cave can be resummoned from grave with all manner of Crucible effects. Notable lands are everywhere, at all budget levels: Mishra's Workshop, Gaea's Craddle, Field of the Dead, Kessig Wolf Run, Cabal Coffers/Urborg, High Market, or just generally fixing your mana. Lovely, lovely additions to many decks that have a handbag of lands they'd like fetched.
I'm thinking of making Ugin's Binding, accompanied by Nulldrifter, Arcane Proxy and Hulking Metamorph a little package I include in every mono-blue deck. All four cards have their base-line value which will almost never amount to a dead draw, but then once the binding is in the graveyard they become 3/4 mana rift effects even without additional cost reduction. That's just crazy value. Elder Deep-Fiend lets you do it at flash speed as well. So good.
i’m glad Prof puts “# sponsored” on the screen when he’s talking about a sponsorship. That way i know exactly when to fast forward and when to stop hitting the fast forward button. Like seriously sponsorships are like a cutscene in a video game that u want to just skip
Cool thing about Ugin’s Binding, too, is (correct me if I’m wrong) that you still get the second effect if your 7 colorless cost spell is countered (etc). Definitely a good choice for the list here.
I really like the tri-cycling Landscape lands and all the new MDFCs! Other than that Wight of the Reliquary is pretty funny. :^) I wanna return to Alara more than any plane!
Accursed Marauder, Consign to Memory, Horrid Shadowspinner, Hydroelectric Specimen, Metastatic Evangel, Proud Pack-Rhino, Planar Genesis, Revitalizing Repast, Sink into Stupor, Strenght of the Harvest, Abstruse Appropriation, Dreamtide Whale, Strix Serenade, and Ocelot Pride all seem interesting to pick up, alongside all of the flares.
As always, here's a little comparison the what costs are like here in Sweden (compared to $260). Most major retailers sell a box of play boosters for $350 (sometimes with shipping included, sometimes not). Absolutely criminal.
Well Prof, i recently started again with MtG with a few precon commander decks, my favorite despite the many other opinions is my Eldrazi Unbound precon. I started to to buy singles to upgrade the Eldrazi precon and "Echoes of Eternity" is one of the few new CM3 cards that caught my eye. I really think that "Echoes of Eternity" is a great addition to my Eldrazi Unbound precon upgrade.
Same! Some of us just want to have fun with it and don't look up charts on "what's the best/most valuable cards" and just enjoy the feeling we get when cracking some packs. If we get something valuable it's great if not oh well. Hell I consider it a win if I just simply think a card looks cool! Lol Besides all these singles they value so much gotta come from somewhere, if they aren't gonna crack packs then someone eventually has to.
@MuppetMan246 just say you're addicted lmao don't put it under the umbrella of having fun as if other people don't like to have fun. You're addicted, it's human behavior to like shiny things and gambling.
I've been so damn excited for Warren Soultrader and Psychic Frog, not only because they're going to work AMAZING in a couple decks but because they were drawn by Pete Venters!!
Shoutout to Strix Serenade. It's Swan Song but instead of Instants/Sorceries/Enchantments, it counters Artifacts/Creatures/Planeswalkers, which means it's way more cracked in EDH
Collective Resistance is easily the best card I can think of buying. It's a mono green Wear//Tear that can also protect your commander or amazing creature that's carrying you at the time. It's an insane value card and I can't wait to put it in every green commander deck I have.
Fanatic of Rhonas is going directly into my green stompy deck. The fact that you can Eternalize it as a creature with 4 power makes it one of the best mana dorks ever printed for this archetype.
There are a lot of good cards in MH3. For mana ramp, I like Fanatic of Rhonas. I also like Lion Umbra and Emrakul's Messenger. Thank you for the video Professor.
Springheart Nantuko gets funky in a Tatyova Steward of Tides + a token doubler. Get enough lands so that a land can become a creature when triggering Tatyova's ability, then bestow a land that comes untapped with Nantuko (a basic Forest will do). When another land hits the field, you pay the 1G to create a copy of the enchanted land. With a token doubler, you'll get two lands instead, which makes double triggers for Nantuko (a bit irrelevant here) and you can pay enough mana to do the combo again, and again, and again. Infinite landfall triggers galore !
harbinger of the seas is a disgusting card and i love it! i bought it as a single as soon as i learned of its existence! great for any islandwalk evasion decks, or even just some blue nonbasic land denial
Not sure if this would apply. But in Arena, if you play a cost reduced card. Its mana value is considered the costs it was cast at. So if you have a trigger that goes off on something played for 4 mana but the card you play had its mana cost reduced to 3, the trigger effect wouldnt happen.
I think there's a slight difference between mana value (cmc) and how much mana you paid for something. Some effects only care about the latter but most of them care about the former.
I’m just going to get the tricky terrain precon. It has estimated $209 worth of reprint value and is excellent for sonic and other decks with the strong lands
Warren soultrader, to me at least, is a clear showcase how much the typeline can matter. Not sure how often goblins go into black but both wizards (alongside party tribal) and especially zombies are both black in edh, most of the time.
You know, Prof, I would buy singles but it's so much more fun to open a $200+ booster box and get thirteen copies each of those eight common cards I'll never use and only get a small percentage of the rare or mythic cards I was actually hoping for. 🙃🤪
While a legendary, Pearl-Ears is my pick for a card to go into my Naya Auras... their cousin, Light-paws, is already in there.. Gives my auras affinity(and technically my enchantment creatures as well), draws cards occasionally AND is a 3/4 for 3 mana with lifelink so that it can get an aura or two as well..
Actually, I just built a new Abzan Rebels Pauper Deck last month. I usually rotate between up grading my already existing Modern, Commander, and Pioneer Decks. And building new Pauper and Commander Decks. I have enough Modern and Pioneer Decks to suit me already, but sometimes new cards come out that I can use to upgrade or substitute for more expensive cards I can't afford.
ocelot pride is getting a lot of buzz because of how it eats ragavan, but i think unlike the monkey, this will be a big add for white decks in commander getting the city’s blessing is stupid easy in this format making the cats act similarly to a one mana anointed procession. it’s only downside really is not being able to double tokens created on your opponent’s turns making it not combo with staples like smothering tithe
I've been testing out springheart nantuko in my loot tKtE edh deck and man does it feel good. Getting that on a circle of dreams druid or sanctum weaver with a bristly bill in play is just nuts. Also, essentially free terror of the peaks/flaming tyrannosaurus can close a game out real quick
I do think that one problem is that winning the flip on Invert Polarity may sometimes actually be worse than losing the flip. If you've got the biggest board and someone casts a boardwipe, better hope you lose that flip.
What am I looking forward to? Well, quite a few! Marionette Apprentice is a pretty good Aristocrat Engine, Ripples of Undeath fuels graveyard decks with a safety net if you mill a key card, Arch of Innovation is neat for my Artifact Decks, Polygoyf let's me smash all the faces equally and Wight of the Reliquary is a great land fetcher. And wanting a fair few copies of some of these, MH3 is looking to be pricey even with buying singles!
The one card I'm the most hyped about out of MH 3 is Evolution Witness for my Mothman deck. A green mutant who gets permanants outta my graveyard whenever it gets a +1/+1 counter? And it's a common so it's (relatively) cheap? Count me in!
I've begun cutting Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse from a lot of decks, but the cycle of 3-color Landscapes has my interest, oddly enough. Serum Visionary looks like it'll be a great role-player in my Inalla and Aminatou decks, since they both focus on ETB value and Aminatou has a topdeck manipulation subtheme.
Really surprised more people don’t seem to be jazzed about Monstrous Vortex. Making every 5-drop creature have Discover 5 Power, without the usual limiter-text to keep what you Discover from setting the Enchantment off again? Given that it’s 1G 3C, literally every deck that’s even base-Green for ramp that has a bunch of big bodies has a use for this.
Off topic: Have you seen the dude open up the Eldrazi collector deck yet? On Wizards article it says all the made for commander cards would be extended art in it and they were all framed. Not sure if production error or article error.
Yeah, even with the new Eldrazi Titans, I'm still gonna Kozilek the Great Distortion as my colorless Eldrazi commander. Zhulodok has its benefits but the interaction of Kozilek is hard to beat, especially at higher power tables.
Harbinger of the Seas for my merfolk deck. Not to forget, Cephalid Coliseum ist receiving a reprint and has dropped more than 80% in price. With all the explore triggers off Hakbal it is not difficult to reach threshold.
Comically, it's the Serum Visionary. I have an Inalla deck, and I am needing wizards like him to dig through my deck. 4 mana to draw 2, scry 4 is amazing.
the non-legendary card from modern commander 3 i am most excited to buy as a single from my local game store is the Strength of the Harvest // Haven of the Harvest to put in the 99 of my aura enchantress deck!
The thing is, I want ALL the commons, rares, and mythics, and most of the uncommons. So this is one of the few sets that I've pre-ordered a box of. Once I've opened all yhe boosters, I'll then buy some of the singles I missed out on.
Null elemental blast is hands down one the card I'm buying single of. That tokens deck is gonna have to try a bit harder when the Mono Green deck counters their Aura Shards or Mirari's Wake
It's not the 99 of a commander deck, but I'm really looking forward to combining the new Basking Broodscale with Sadistic Glee in pauper as an infinite colorless mana+infinitely big creature combo. Once I can find a payoff or two for assembling the combo, I plan to put together the deck.
Man it'd sure be a shame if my Meren deck got a Protean Hulk pile that's completely a win by itself without requiring any other pieces in play. Thanks Warren Soultrader for fulfilling my dreams!
Vexing Bauble about to become the most expensive uncommon of all time. I'm going to put in all of my power level 7 decks. Which means it's going in ALL of my decks!
Fangs of Kalonia is the main single I'm looking for from MH3. It should be great in my 13th Doctor deck. I also want to grab a Detective's Phoenix or two mainly because I like the art, but it is a unique card. I'm not sure if it is good, but it is unique and looks awesome, so I want it

Actually, I just built a new Abzan Rebels Pauper Deck last month. I usually rotate between up grading my already existing Modern, Commander, and Pioneer Decks. And building new Pauper and Commander Decks. I have enough Modern and Pioneer Decks to suit me already, but sometimes new cards come out that I can use to upgrade or substitute for more expensive cards I can't afford.
ocelot pride is getting a lot of buzz because of how it eats ragavan, but i think unlike the monkey, this will be a big add for white decks in commander
getting the city’s blessing is stupid easy in this format making the cats act similarly to a one mana anointed procession. it’s only downside really is not being able to double tokens created on your opponent’s turns making it not combo with staples like smothering tithe
Warren soultrader fits perfectly into my Carmen cruel skymarcher deck. Goes infinite with animation module while Carmen is out too
Still nice to crack a few packs. Not everyone has specific cards for they are targetting.
HAPPY 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS, PROF!
The one card I'm the most hyped about out of MH 3 is Evolution Witness for my Mothman deck. A green mutant who gets permanants outta my graveyard whenever it gets a +1/+1 counter? And it's a common so it's (relatively) cheap? Count me in!
I'm just so happy they finally reprinted modern staples such as the medallions
I’m really excited for the -Commander- Modern Horizons 3 -Modern- Commander format reconstructed decks. Jokes aside, the energy deck looks awesome.
Considering the spokesman for WotC called it Commander Horizons, it's pretty tough not to think of it like that.
Fanatic of Rhonas. That card is nuts.
During that last ad read I thought Prof was going to say “Call Lesko!”
thanks prof always appreciate your analysis
Fingers crossed for a deck tech video on the new bear commander!
Commander Masters 2 is what I call it 😂 hope you soon get those 1 million subscribers
*Dual sided dual lands obviously.* Is basically an upgrade to every single deck I have and ever will have that's not mono colored
The mono colored ones are also fantastic. The only downside is taking a bolt to the face which is nothing in Commander.
Off topic: Have you seen the dude open up the Eldrazi collector deck yet? On Wizards article it says all the made for commander cards would be extended art in it and they were all framed. Not sure if production error or article error.
Guide of souls + any repeatable token producer = Huge Wrath of the Skies
Collector box EV is so good its actually good to open and sell the singles for profit.
Sub 400$ that is.
1:22 correction: If you need cards for commander, proxy them
I was on TCG earlier today and everything I wanted in the printings I wanted was $311 at pre-order pricing, all of which are borderless.
the non-legendary card from modern commander 3 i am most excited to buy as a single from my local game store is the Strength of the Harvest // Haven of the Harvest to put in the 99 of my aura enchantress deck!
Thanks again prof for the advice I love what you do!
"Ugin's binding is not cyclonic rift" yeah, thank Bob for that!
It's not the 99 of a commander deck, but I'm really looking forward to combining the new Basking Broodscale with Sadistic Glee in pauper as an infinite colorless mana+infinitely big creature combo. Once I can find a payoff or two for assembling the combo, I plan to put together the deck.
I definitely would like to hear what you think about mh3s impact on pauper
Man it'd sure be a shame if my Meren deck got a Protean Hulk pile that's completely a win by itself without requiring any other pieces in play. Thanks Warren Soultrader for fulfilling my dreams!
Prof, where did you buy your very nice blue dress shirt? What brand is it? They should sponsor a video for you - it is a very nice shirt.
Homwstly I'm just happy they printed a good Nantuko. Also the Kamigawa Nantuko are so pretty.
I'm looking forward to picking up Basking Broodscale for the MANY infinite combos it enables.
So many infinite Engines in this set....GEEZUS Feezus...
I honestly don't know what to say.
Pretty stoked on vexing bauble for my Glissa the traitor deck!
Me looking at the Cancel in my Obeka deck:
“I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry”.
