Wouldn't it be sweet if they would hold a Legend's Race, fielded with guys that have been retired for at least 5. Bring back Larocco, Ward, Emig, Carmichael, McGrath, Johnson, Barnett, Lusk, and a whole list of legends I've missed. Just do a 10 lap exhibition at the Vegas Race with those guys. It would give true fans the chills!
This is crazy. I just got into watching supercross and this is way cooler to watch. Like the rider with real skill will end up in front cause now days everyone jumps everything where these guys roll a lot more and you see them sliding around. Seems like it took more skill and talent to be good then than now.
Any beginner could roll a supercross track but only a sliver of the best motocross riders can actually jump and link a whole AMA supercross track. They are no joke.
This is a supreme reason why 2 stroke make real supercross. 450 riders couldnt do what they did then. And the racing hasnt ever been as excitng. I know because I have participated and watched since 1979. Even the king would agree.
Each to their own. As unpopular as I will be, i'm a 4t fan who grew up on 2t. but I still love watching the old races and seeing how far the sport has progressed over the years. JM is a beast though, always will be.
@@geoffbeyer1873 He's a living legend, he did say in an interview exactly what this guy said he'd agree with, made for much more exciting races, but I love the sport however much it changes, for over 30 yrs now, I 've got to say though, it takes alot of skill to know how to stay on the pipe, and to do that in supercross...crazy!
@@jamesrobert7155 Agreed! MC changed the sport for ever. I'm not sure RC would've been as good as he was if he didn't have to push/train so hard to topple the king at the end of his career I used to train pretty hard for enduro races and I thought I was fit before I rode a SX styled track (nothing like a pro track) and physically, I got my ass handed to me. I have never wanted for oxygen so much in my life. 2019 is the deepest field of talented fit riders that I have seen in quite a few years. It's going to be a good one indoors and out.
@@geoffbeyer1873 Yeah, RC was the man too, but MC, more style and finesse riding, RC was a bulldog racer, seen them both in Atlanta supercross several times, spectacular! I did ride an arenacross style track, which is basically a really scaled down supercross track, and I agree, crazy hard, that was in the late 90's, none of that for me anymore, some basic woods riding for me now on my old RM 250, I hurt myself bad on a 450, so I stick with what I know.
I remember watching these and always being so frustrated. I wanted to see McGrath riding. But he was usually so far ahead of everyone else, the camera would focus more on the 2nd and 3rd place battle. It seemed like Jeremy McGrath got very little camera time for winning the race so far ahead of everyone else.
They need to bring back these whoops every now and then. Sick of those jump through sections. I get that the new style is 50 x more difficult and dangerous, but the old style looked cool, sounded cool and better riders could still hit them faster!
Houston? I was there a couple times.. when McGrath won like this but I pretty sure he was riding for Yamaha then. Next time was when Carmichael won for Suzuki for the first time in forever
Ther will never be the bruuaop brruaaaop from a 2 stroke again because there is to much money and not enough love for the sport. It was never ment to be easy. But now it has become easy when your in super shape.
Can anybody tell me why the King of Supercross with the most wins and championships rocks the #2. It just doesn't make any sense to always be seen as second best when you WERE the best. Period. Please answer if you know the CORRECT answer not your opinion. Thank you.
Man I remember going and racing amateur Sunday Atlanta supercross as a kid,we would watch McGrath on Saturdays...thanks for sharing this!
Kind of a peculiar question but any relation to Mike and Cody DeWitt in AZ?

Doug Henry
Damon Bradshaw was really good back in the day but I raced motocross and idolized Jeremy McGrath
Still watching this in 2023! Grew up in this era rode in this era! Things were more simpler and forsure a lot more exciting!
Those were the races to watch!!
Ahh, the good ol days.

@@nikolasgibson3438 explains why us mere mortals get motocross tracks and not supercross tracks, haha.
Great video to watch just in case you forgot who the King is!

its time , showtime, jeremy had a reverse gear on his bike, all for the other riders lol
I'm still pissed off Emig beat him at St. Louis that year......
Ezra Lusk 😆 I remember him
Jeremy McGrath's favorite band: better than ezra
You had to work back then. Know its 3rd and bla bla bla brake.
Wow 14 races and finished 2nd the other race.

It's the best permanent number you can choose. Number one is temporary for the championship winner. You can have both.
