When I was a kid, I must have watched this race about 100 times. Each time hoping a different result (obviously rooting for Jeremy to have a perfect season). Back then, my dad would stop in at Happ's Honda in Sarasota and buy the latest VHS of the season races. Man I miss the old days.
I knew nothing about super cross as a kid but I used to watch because of Jeremy McGrath and Art Eckman. Art had me on the edge of my seat the whole race. Legend.
This is the face that brought down Jeremy and started Emig onto a great line,he ran it in first accomplishing many skills over his continued championship victory's
Yeah like a lot of people I was pulling for Mac to get the sweep of the season but he said later pressure was starting bug him a little just enuf he said that he rode a little stiff when you watch this race I have the original taped and he does look a little tight compared to his normal posture on the bike and he rode the whole race the same way...his preferred dirt is that hard pack, and this place was loose dirt and ruts were hard to see but got pretty bad too if I remember correctly...thanks
Underrated by who? Who says that? The record books are the ratings of the past, and they are very accurate. They say he did pretty good. :) No other ratings exist in reality, but maybe in imagine land. The "saying" seems a bit silly now, doesn't it? :) "Reason"
@@EarthSurferUSA I can look at the records, I also witnessed it. He's a multi MX/SX champion, but very few, if anyone, mentions that fact. Therefore, he is without a doubt underrated. You have a simplistic overview.
@die996 You're welcome, but the upload credit should really go to RUclipsr MrMJS1971. He originally uploaded the race in three parts. Just as an experiment, I cabbaged his three parts, combined them into one, and uploaded it. Great old SX action.
they both are pretty cool just back in the day on 2strokes was great the bikes where like trying to ride a bucking horse for 20 laps now away days the bikes are so built its crazy its like riding air

I was fortunate to be at this race...sitting about 15 rows up and in front of the whoop section. I still have my ticket stub.
something about that bike and gear was so iconic
Great three way battle for top positions!!...Emig made no real mistakes & earned this one...Great work, Jeff...👍
David Bailey and art eckman miss those guys announcing
would have love to see this group of guys against the recent champs of the decade... what a race!
Chain Wackx ...on a technical late 90s track of course
Thanks for the video, I was there live for this race and the crowd was going absolutely nuts for a lot of the race.
Mannn. That gear, I remember drooling over the McGrath helmet in the Dennis Kirk catalog on the school bus. What a great time for the sport.
I was lucky enough to attend this race! Was first time they came to the dome. The good ol days

I still have this video on VHS:)
Awesome race - thanks for uploading this classic
I had heard of this race, the end of the streak ... I see why it is legendary.
This is the face that brought down Jeremy and started Emig onto a great line,he ran it in first accomplishing many skills over his continued championship victory's
jermey's gear was so bad ass that year. emig's Thor gear was sweet too
I was there!
Not a KTM or 4 stroke in sight. All carburettor racing and no electric start.
Great racing !!

We all were!
Bailey rode for Honda as well.
I love him to.... but not in a gay way....
I don't think you realize how superior Mcgrath was to everyone at this point.
Bring back the 2strokes
Most underrated driver in Supercross history. Jeff Emig.

This was a great race, corner slams, long whoop sections, big triples, awesome. Didn't realize this was Jeff's first win after the Vegas debacle.
Wow, I miss Dave Dispain calling these....
Thats not Dave Dispain.... Its Art Ekman.

What do we have to do to get Bailey back on the supercross broadcasts??
Back when they were called “whoop de doos”!
I love these old supercross's
this is the first video that shows when you search "Jeff emig fight"
Loved kx that year smooth and fast
SX tracks were so much slower back then compared to today.
This was epic in history.... wow, interesting.
No Doubt, I miss these guys battling too !!
@die996 That was my plan! Thanks for the kind words.

The best thing about these races is Reed isn't around yet lol
What a great race!!
I liked watching Jeremy kick ass during this era, but hated the way he always had excuses on the occasions he didn’t win.
Those two should re-commentate this!

It's like it's in slow motion compared to the bikes of today
My how things have changed. I've forgotten how slow and uncoordinated everyone looked compared to today's supercross. Much better equipment now lol.
Nah it’s the track designs everything now days is to maintain flow back then it was to disrupted flow
Check this out 1985 CR250 smokin off the bikes of today /watch?v=FGUz4ZiMWAQ
