Bamboo tube zither (kong raing) with eight metal strings. The keys are distributed over the upper half of the tube and the strings on one third of its circumference. The lower section is attached a hollow gourd resonator. Some strings are dedicated to the melody, others to the accompaniment. Each one has a specific name. This instrument is used for entertainment. The musician interprets the melodies of the songs repertoire or accompanies his own singing.
Nyel Che is at the same time author, composer, arranger and performer. He died in 2014.
This sequence shows a crossbow, a hunting weapon still used in Cambodia.

Cithare tubulaire (kong raing) en bambou à 8 cordes métalliques. Les chevilles sont réparties sur la moitié supérieure du tube et les cordes sur un tiers de son pourtour. Sur le tronçon inférieur est fixée une calebasse évidée faisant office de résonateur. Certaines cordes sont dédiées à la mélodie, d’autres à l’accompagnement ; chacune possède un nom spécifique. Sur cet instrument de divertissement, le musicien interprète les mélodies du répertoire de chansons ou accompagne son propre chant.
Cette séquence présente également l’arbalète, une arme de chasse toujours utilisée au Cambodge.
Nyel Che était à la fois auteur, compositeur, arrangeur et interprète. Il est mort en 2014.
