When Dji decided to go a completely different direction than the Dji Osmo Action, it wasn't really received that well. The Dji Action 2 is a misunderstood action camera. But its still one of my favorite cameras. Using so Often, ive come up with a bunch of tips and tricks that will help anyone take the Dji Action 2 to the max.. at least until the Dji Osmo Action 3 Comes out.

Do you have any Tips for using the Action 2?
That’s how I use it and works very good.
Keep the shutter speed high in low light to give the EIS a chance to work. Sure, you are getting more noise, but less artifacts. The choice is yours!
After shooting, I re attach the camera to power module and set it to transfer data and it’ll shut down automatically when it’s done. My camera module always has space. This goes without saying, if you have an A2 enable quickshots you’ll never miss a moment.
Ah - you're using the lanyard incorrectly! Put the lanyard under your shirt, and then the camera over your shirt! The shirt will then keep it in place :)

Yes he is using the pendant wrong. It should be inside the shirt with the magnet part and camera outside. It is way better that way but still not perfect
I've been shooting with just the camera a lot too. I don't have over heating because I shoot short clips and in the water a lot. Between shots I reattach the screen mod to transfer footage to the card and charge the battery. I charge the screen mod while shooting with the camera using a USB power pack.

In the beginning overheating was an issue but I learnt to work around it. I now get the shot I need and turn it off. For the pedant to work wear it under your shirt then put the camera and then record at 2.7k 30 with rocksteady on. This has worked in all situations including giving it to my wife who doesn't know what a gimble walk is. The action 2 is the best purchase I made this year all thanks to you. So a coffee is on the way.

@@ItzSKYVlogs I have more footage from action 2 on my channel. I use the A2 a lot, in situations where I cannot use my phone.
To stabilize camera when using the pendent just wear the pendent inside your shirt with the camera on the outside but still attached by the magnet through the material
I bought it just for the fact that it can be used in so many ways... Its just dependa on you how you wanna use it... From shooting yourself working out in gym... To scene transitions where you're wearing it with pendant and scenery changes from city to mountains... Its amazing...

Just got an Action 2, mainly for the FPV discrete filming with the pendant... you are a genius and saved me having to return the camera.
Also finding out that it is much more capable and thinking of making it my main rig, gonna try it against the one R which will still have a place for 360.
P.S Love your presentation style, short, sharp and to the point, great energy too.
04:03 looks to me a jittery footage which happened to me on few times and not sure what to do about it ?? ( I shoot on 1080 because of the small size ) I keep hearing about the jitter firmware issue for action 2
I just got this one in good deal from dji but night videos are not good, it has low brightness compared to my phone any solution or it just my device is not good?

Pendant bounce? I strap mine close to the shirt neckline. I found it reduces the bounce. I wear this every project site visit.

I absolutely love mine, but definitely defer to you for the Gangster tips and Ninja Boss techniques
If I have the shirt in my pants than it doesn’t t shake. Same with the go 2. As it keeps the lanyard in place’ under my t shirt. But never tried it in low light
So having the insta 360one r for the 360 module, as I found is easy to keep it “clean” no marks when using it with ND filter that are the actual protective lens. And now just bought this one, action 2 , obviously after watching your reviews and another guys too 😀 so cheers “gangster”🤜🤛
Hi sku, I just have this major major issue with my DJI action two, I can’t get the right sd card to work with it, can I ask what sd card you use on yours?

Has anyone made the pendant into an actual chest strap you can wear underneath your shirt and then attach the camera over it? That way it won't shake and move around loose like it would on a lanyard. Surely there must be a way to use the magnetic part and affix it on a say gopro chest mount u wear underneath.

@@ItzSKYVlogs I use them in every of my video! They sound FIRE BRO! And if you want to skim through my first video I have some far shots that are impossible to capture audio with a shotgun mic. Honestly I have a rode NTG mic and I don’t even use it anymore

Have you tried putting the pendant on the inside of the shirt? Then attaching the camera outside? Might be more stable with the the shirt helping to hold it

Oh man. That’s good! Honestly the go 2 just didn’t really work for me.. it gave me so many problems.. and to get the best footage you have to process it to get stabilization.. and man.. I HATE that. I hate needed to process cottage just for stabilization and 4/10 image quality.. it just doesn’t work with my workflow :/
But!!! And a biiiigggg butt!!! The go 3 might be ninja boss!!!! Lol so I’m waitin for that!

youre supposed to tighten the pendant/lanyard pretty tight, having it sit right under your collarbone keeps it a LOT more stabler... some say through the shirt helps too
Maan I tried that! It still doesn’t work that well.. when using just the pendant it works the best for me with it sitting at my chest.. but I think I found the best solution.. basically using the a strap. And it’s works great
I see there's another type of pendant on eBay, that looks a bit better supported

Also I use Final Cut Pro :) it’s been the only program I noticed that handles all the footage I work with.

@@ItzSKYVlogs Yeah i saw it if its truth i am not gonna buy it cause its the 1st version of action with some upgrades like the Heros 9 & 10. I like the size of Action 2, but if the Go Pro really gonna put on the market 4 diferrent cameras and one of them will be Hero Session 6 the upgrade of Hero Session 5 (looks like action 2) i am gonna buy also it.
As far as heating issues, I’m ok with if it doesn’t get hot in 4K30fps 10 minutes. I records 5-10 minutes at a time. But I really need that 128gb of internal storage. If I can connect to a Bluetooth mic, that would be awesome.
Ooh man yea I’ve shot my day in a life video on the action 2 a while back and kept it rolling for 30 mins instead of cutting and it was totally fine!
Oh and yea it would be nice to have more space.. but I’m ok with the 22gb too ;)
I recorded for 2.5 hours non stop in 1080 30 indoors handheld and yes it was warm but never cut out because it got hot.
I believe the DJI twin mics are designed for the action 2

my Sky-Wan! you can try to use those mini magnetic plates (like the ones from the rode wireless go) so you can stick a small one on the back on the neck accesory and the other one inside your shirt so that will stick and not move and you won't have the stickiness of the double side tape! hope this helps you my Sauce Jedi!!!!

Hey Sky,
If you’re still using this now that A3 and GP11 is out, I would say use the headband. It gives the best natural look since it follows your eyes. When you use the pendant, it has problems as you’ve shown in the video but also doesn’t follow what your eyes.
As for the overheating, there’s really two easy ways to manage it: 1) use a cooling fan and tie it down with a velcro or a simple rubber band if you don’t have a velcro; and 2) if you use long form shooting, turn off GPS, BT, Wifi, dim the front or back OLED screens as they contribute to the heat generated. Looks like DJI added some passive cooling inside the A3 to improve the thermal heat.
GP seems to ignore both thermal heat and lowlight so if that’s how you shoot, then DJI works better.
But if you need better DR (dynamic range) and higher IQ, then I would go with GP.
Either way, all the 3 brands are really good now so can’t go wrong with whatever you buy.
Looking forward to see you show a detailed video on GP11 and A3 and even the Insta 360 RS 1” or the X3.
Ayye thanks for the tips. To be honest I’ve never had any over heating issues. I only shoot for a long time when filming for my travel channel.. but for the most part.. I’ve film 4k60 until the battery died.. and nothing.. but I was moving :)

Easy solve for the pendant. Put the plate behind the shirt and the magnet outside. But, it still kinda shakes each step. Grrrrrrr….
Yea it still shakes when I do that. So if I try to shoot indoor it had that artifacting sometimes
