Good to hear. I know lots of people that use them but none of them could ever articulate why. They just bought them becuse somebody else had one. I normally carry a single wall stainless bottle, but I will be adding one of these. Thank you for the information!

It’s incredible how many uses they really have due to thier spot on lid seal. Hot water bottle, dehydrated meal pre soak container, very good piece of kit

right on man, i just got myself a 48oz "clear" nalgene for when I'm out biking for those long rides to go out fishing at the local spots. i haaated biking for ~9 miles and not having any water to drink. happy to have one and yes, they feel very rigid. i remember the cloudy "clear" ones from when i was 7 or 8 and i never got to know what they were called until 16-17 years later. very good stuff man. thank you for your service. id join the military if i wasn't out of shape and had lactose intolerancy with ADD. thumbs up from me :)

A tank.... if it survived that I’d be afraid to sleep in the same room as it

A lot of great examples in the video. I recently got a nalgene because of the many points you made: cheap, durable, and can easily keep track of water consumption. I've had a YETI 26oz, RTIC 32oz, and Klean Kanteen 20oz I believe and hope to get a HydroFlask to try out soon, but you just can't beat the Nalgene at its price point, effectiveness, and durability.

When hiking, you can use your Nalgene as a measuring cup and put BOILING water in it and make a dinner with no plastic leeech. You can also drop it full onto jagged rocks or run them over and they refuse to crack. Basically, you buy one and they last forever. I had one 32oz hiking the Appalachian Trail and it was my godsend... saved my ass many times.

@@mario3804 man it’s so fun. Boil 1 cup of water then throw in some ramen instant noodles with the powder packet thing and shake, let that sit for 10 minutes and boom, you have a warm mobile dinner and cleaning the Nalgene is as easy as a quick rinse in water. Great video tho man! We need more EDC reviews like these.

I had a knockoff wide mouth nalgene before I even knew what a nalgene was, dollar general sold them and I used it for a while, but one drop busted it.
Went online looking for a replacement and came across nalgene, decided on the canteen shaped one, the Oasis.
I keep finding them at goodwill for 1 buck or less, I have cleaned and given away so many of these things, I have like 6 personally, Ive had to stop myself from getting them unless its a unique one.

I do agree with most of what you say on your opinions on nalgene water bottle. I would like to find out because both nalgene bottle and both the kidney style canteen are adaptable, what are your opinion of the two styles of bottles (nalgene and/or military canteen)? Which one would you carry and why?

Nalgenes taking hot water well has a great use during cold weather… fill them up with hot water at night, put them in your sleeping bag, and you've got a source of warmth other than you. They're usually still warm to the touch in the morning when I do this.

Wide mouth for carrying extra water and when you are stationary. Narrow or normal for when on the go and moving. I have both.
