    Hey Claire!🤗🤗I haven’t done a declutter in a while. I’ve finally got my collection to a point where everything in my collection excites me and I’m happy with. It’s so good to get rid of fragrances that you nolonger pull for.

    When I'm undecided if I want to keep or toss (but leaning towards toss) I just make a 5-10ml decant and then toss! 😛 Also, I've stopped compromising if the performance is poor: if it's gone after 2 hours - toss! 😁

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 месяца назад +1

      I think decants are a fab idea actually, I've thought a few times about that. And yes, poor performance at that level is a deal breaker, unless it's a travel spray and then I will just finish it and not repurchase! Thanks for watching 🥰

    Go for Pure poison without a doubt. That’s a masterpiece, high quality fragrance, beautiful. Jaipur is like a Pure poison cologne, it’s lighter, it’s great, but discrete. With Pure poison, it’s just chic, longetivity is there, so so so elegant. Bracelet is more clean and fresh. I own both and I wear both.

    Pure Poison is lovely imo.. it took me well into my fragrance journey to fully appreciate it. It’s very “icey” or cold but in a beautiful Snow White way.. some might find it clinical (not medicinal) but to me it’s a bright take on orange blossom but with no gourmand warmth.
    Jaipur Bracelet is also lovely maybe a tad greener with slight powdery freshness to it. It’s my favorite out of the Boucheron’s I’ve bought, Oud De Carthage I gave to my husband because it felt a tad too masculine. And I really couldn’t get on with Fleurs.. something a little musky & bitter with that one.

    It hurts me to see you decluttered Ameer al Oudh Intense Oud. I bought mine in February and have aleady used up at least a third of the bottle. I bathed in it all winter and I'm so looking forward to picking it up again in autumn. I love its campfire vibes and the cosiness it radiates. At the same time this combination of smokiness and sweetness is tremendously sexy in my opinion.
    I also love Pure Poison. It's such an elegant, sexy, feminine, "all purpose" scent that is noticeable but doesn't jump in people's faces. I tend to wear it when I don't know which perfume I should choose for an occasion and I always feel great when I do.

    Oh Claire I put about 10 perfumes in that « come later box » last week because my taste I’ve changed a lot! This summer, I couldn’t stand perfumes such as Hibiscus Palm, Olympea or So Scandal. They all smell so soapy to my nose now. I sold Holidays by Mancera already and when I feel like wearing a solar perfume, Nuda Veritas, Beach Walk or Alien Goddess are my go to. LVEB Soleil is on the butcher block for the moment… still undecided if I want to break my LVEB collection but it’s starting to smell soapy to my nose too… Vanilla by Solinotes, Angel Nova edt and a few others are on their way out too because I never reach for them. I’m tired of forcing myself to wear a fragrance. L’ange ou Demon Le secret is also on its way out because it brings back not so good old memories everytime I wear it! 😅😂 We don’t need that right? Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! 🌞

      @dr.claire.perfume  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Julie! I tried Hibiscus Palm last year because of you! I didn't get on with it and yes! Soapy was the reason. Beach Walk is fab! I am truly shocked that you are considering decluttering a LVEB!!! 😱 I agree a bit with Nova, the last few times I've worn it, I've not been quite as sure about it. We will see what happens. Le Secret will at least sell well because it's loved and people are looking for it.
      I am still in France! It rained all today 😂 back tomorrow though. It's been great 👍 if you've not been, I'd recommend the Loire. I do still love the Dordogne though ❤️

    I hear you! Green Lover & Ameer Al Oud may be in my next declutter (unless I can pawn them off on one of my sons 😉) Oh girl, Pure Poison is absolutely lovely - sorry, I can’t speak to the other one you’re considering in its place.
    …Collecting fragrances has been a journey of discovery in and of itself wherein I went a little wild in purchasing fragrances for a variety of different appealing reasons, over many years - & have now come to a point where I’ve recently noticed myself getting an uneasy feeling when looking at the number of bottles I own.
    In observing & actioning this, I too decided to set a few aside ‘in purgatory’ to see if I could live without them, or not. From this I learned a couple things 1) I didn’t want to go thru the trouble of attempting to resell the ones that were inexpensive to buy in the first place, so I checked-in with one of my son’s girlfriends from way-back and asked if she’d mind me sending her a small (a dozen bottles or so) collection to keep/share (she accepted); and 2) did I have enough shipping boxes to put the others into when I do resell (I did! Now to get with that project). …Only two bottles came back into the collection.
    With those I’m keeping, still liking/loving & learning about, etc, I’ve found I really like storing them in clear acrylic roll-top type organizers on my dresser-tops (no dusting required) and it’s most satisfying to do this by scent category/season.
    I’ll continue to observe changes in what I like and keep a purgatory area, but going thru this initial declutter/organization has been very satisfying & insightful ❤

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 месяца назад +1

      Wow! The dusting is something I need rid of 🤣 what a fab idea to store them like that! And gifting even the cheapies does make people very very happy. I've taken a few to work and people really enjoy trying things. 😊 It really isn't worth listing them for the less expensive ones.
      I've slowed down this year with purchasing. I've found myself sampling and just enjoying that. I don't think I bought anything for at least a month, maybe more and that was not my intention at all!
      Have a fab Sunday 🥰

    Hello Claire, I had Boucheron Jaipur Bracelet in the past. I had enjoyed it for spring and summer. The notes that shined for me were the lemon verbena leaves and a light basil at the top followed by a warm floral in the mid, probably the carnation , lily and hyacinth mix followed by a cypress earthiness then ending with a soft cashmeran/ iris dry down . I tried the Pure poison and found it too similar to other department florals. too me it was boring and synthetic smelling. I also found it had a sharpness which Jaipur bracelet did not. hope this helps.

    Hello Claire, you reminded me that the last fragrance I decluttered was Lattafa Khamra, I gave it to the charity shop immediately, and I had thought it was a safe blind buy, getting such glowing ratings on Fragrantica, it was a woody amber/ambroxan mess on my skin and it discouraged me from middle-eastern fragrances as it is so difficult to test them first. Of my current collection there is only one I fell out of love with, EL TF Youth Dew Amber nude, long discontinued and now expensive secondhand, so I hold on to it. Very wise to have a purgatory system in case you have second thoughts. We share Place Vendôme, not groundbreaking but I'm keeping it😀for now. I can't help on Bracelet as I only have the original Jaïpur, and oh the glory.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 месяца назад

      You are braver than me! I didn't dare try Khamrah, I really thought it likely that I wouldn't enjoy it and I didn't want to spend the hyped up price on it 🙈 I find Lattafa do tend to get a love/ hate split, I assume that some people get bothered by the heavy aromachemicals and others not. For me, the plasticky saffron and really weird artificial oud that can smell like fuel, ambroxan and other things really can put me off Lattafa, Afnan, Swiss Arabian, Ahmed Al Magribi... Many basically. The only brand that I would like to try some more from is Armaf.
      Place Vendome is actually really pretty, if it lasted longer, I'd keep it 😊 it's more wearable than the Elie Saab. Sometimes that's just too much. I think the consensus seems to be Dior Pure Poison, but I am still curious about Jaipur bracelet. 🥰

    Hi Clare, I have both Jaipur bracelet and Pure Poison, they are not similar to me at all. Pure Poison is a 100% white floral with really no sweetness it’s not sparkly either, it’s kind of like a concentrated white floral syrup. Jaipur bracelet is very peachy watery shampoo floral perfume, the bottle is pretty but it’s a bit weak and not living up to its ornate bottle or exotic name, but it’s inexpensive and inoffensive, so work safe.

All the Middle Eastern fragrances I've tried, albeit not many, have failed except for Parisian Corner Khair Pistachio, a nice dupe for Kayali Yum. I don't wear it often; maybe more this winter. This video really hit home for me today. I blind bought so many perfumes this week, I am sitting here this morning feeling guilty. Of course three of them were Lattafa perfumes... I understand I need to let them macerate, but. Why did I do it. I don't think they're going to be that great.
    I have Pure Poison. I don't think I will ever declutter that, it's beautiful. I don't wear it a lot, but the bottle is so pretty and of course it works with all the other Poison bottles there on the shelf lol.
    When you held up the bottle of Bandit I gasped out loud! Vintage Bandit is one of the very best perfumes of all time, I would wear it every day if I could, but you're right. The reformulations are difficult. And chasing a vintage perfume is always a risk! Sometimes you get that great bottle, other times you get one that's turned and what can you do. So I really understand

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 месяца назад +1

      Which 3 Lattafas did you get? I don't know, I think some people must truly love them, my theory is that some people are just more sensitive to certain ingredients than others, other people try them because they are cheap, I was in the latter category. I just decided that three £10-14 fragrances could get me a Dior Privée fragrance secondhand with change and I would use and prefer that.
      I think I will get Pure Poison, that seems to be the consensus view. Bandit was hard! I really wanted to love it. Someone did tell me that it's really nothing like the original, I totally get that the original might be absolutely beautiful, I would love to try it! 🥰

      The Lattafa's! (I originally posted this under your video about maceration, but I realized it would be better suited here).
      Most of these are from Amazon. And they are... um... macerating. They are:
      1. Yara: It's a month old now. Is it old enough? I'm not impressed with the bottle. But I will probably give it a year.
      2. Musamam White Intense: I've had it for two weeks. I'll keep it, because there's a snake on the bottle and it's cool. I think it needs another month to shine.
      3. Bade'ee Al Oud Amethyst: I've had this for ten days. IF IT GETS ANY STRONGER THEY'LL BE ABLE TO SMELL IT IN SPACE. Ho. Lee. Cow.
      4. Oud Mood Concentrated Perfume Oil: I'm confused by this one. But it's a pretty little gold bottle, so I will keep it. I don't think it's truly much like my beloved Lancome Oud Bouquet but I'm willing to wait. So far it's really nice for 2 hours but it's really painfully linear, no glorious dry down.
      5. Mohra Silky Rose: I've had it 4 days. This one needs more time, it's not doing much for me, we'll wait.
      6. Mohra: It's, um, in the mail. I bought it because I thought the bottle would look so nice next to the Silky Rose bottle, don't judge me. I know I have a problem.
      7. Eclair: Also in the mail. I think it's in the box in the living room that I have not opened yet. Did I mention I have a perfume buying problem?
      So we'll see. I have my thoughts on them so far, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt because of the whole "maceration" thing. Also seeing the whole list typed out like this, I can see it, I need to slow down on the Lattafas. What if the months pass and they're still just not amazing or wearable? I'll feel stupid for having bought so damn many. lol stay tuned

      Same Jim! My last lot from my previous declutter in January are not all gone yet! I did actually already free myself of two from this declutter though so not a bad start. I think with trying more fragrances, blind buying is less and less of a viable strategy because I'm getting pickier. Also I think my initial choices from 2020/2021 are on the whole not necessarily what I'd choose now so I guess there will be some more decluttering in the future. It's such a hassle though to try to find some friend who wants them or someone willing to buy them at a half decent price. 🥰

I own three of the ones you mention: RL Woman, Dolce Garden & Green Lover. I think I bought them all pre-loved and they’re all stayin. Just wore Dolce Garden last week and quite enjoyed it. In the UK we are not allowed to send fragrance abroad, so if you are in the UK I guess it would be possible to buy one. I don't tend to advertise when I resell as part of the selling process is that you are required to put your address on the back when posting them, plus usually by the time the video is up (this time a month after filming) they are long gone. How wonderful that you have a network of people and friends who like perfumes and buy them..
      I also often gift perfumes to special people and friends who like them - it's really important to make sure that they like them! (rather than just giving them away).
      and it's a great way to recycle and share the love of perfumes...
      I do live overseas, in Australia, and postage is wayyy too much !
      Take care
      🙏☺

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад

      Yes, this is absolutely important, it's not very environmentally friendly for the fragrances to just sit unused in someone else's home. If I gift them, I want to know that they will be used and enjoyed.
      Reselling is actually a great way to declutter and ultimately I buy most of my fragrances secondhand so I look at it as a cycle and hopefully other people will love the fragrances that I didn't. 🥰

With the price that it costs, I think that so dishonest ! So, for my part, I would keep Ricci Ricci becaus e it's discontinued. And , yes, Jaipur and Dior Pure Poison are very similar, People confused them on me ! And they got me compliments. I would like to work with you to wear fragrances to test longevity. I don't dare asking that to my proper collegues, they always think that I smell so strong and so heavy vanillas !!😂 Have great sunday.

I actually used to wear Dolce Garden mostly in the winter, despite the notes, as I found it a bit cloying in warmer weather, but I'm happy to declutter it now. 🥰

    I have been curious about Ameer Al Oudh. But I purchased quite a few of the Middle Eastern fragrances. I do enjoy them but often I find the ones I like are similar to each other. Often you can always tell a fragrance is Middle Eastern. There’s just something about .

      I think you can with the cheaper ones for sure. Lattafa just haven't been for me really. I will keep trying anything I get a sample of though or find a bottle of in my local shopping centre to try (there's a stall there, I recently tried Oud Tonka). 🥰

    I gave away so much perfume and body spray this year. And then I became possessed and bought a bunch of new stuff. I've been so bad. I JUST ordered a DUA benjoin 19 dupe. I justified it by saying it was a fraction of the original le labo. Lord help...

      Is it the LOTV? I think that bothers a lot of people because it's a bit soapy. J'adore is one that I own but really hardly wear. It was a gift from my dad but it's not something I would choose as I really don't think it suits me. I've smelt it on others and it's smelt much nicer than it does on me. 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for watching 🥰

    I don't blind buy as much as I did in the old days. 125 😱 wow Claire.
    Green Lover sounds ok, I'm not a gin and tonic lover. Tho tictacs ain't so bad 😂.
    Yes that garden one was nice. Weirdly it's ginger that sometimes has a very plasticy smell on me. Utopia is lovely
    Ah yes this Lataffa u did enjoy it. I am not a By the Fireplace lover. Yes Kayali Vanilla is nice isn't it. The sprayer is a tad worrying 😂.
    The bottle is nice for the RL but the fragrance sounds like it wouldn't be a love for me 😂.
    The Boucheron sounds OK apart from the shampoo. Now I'd just go for the Dior Claire, in the end trying to find something like it will probably cost more and it still wouldn't be Pure Poison.
    Ricci Ricci 😂 does it rap with Jay Sean? 😜 Ooo decluttering discontinued ones must be risky.
    Bandit, it's a shame ur getting rid of that one. I can see it's really challenging. Not a work friendly one 😜. "Best Female Marketed for Men to Wear" 🙄 what does that even mean, these fools shud just wear what they want. I think you suit vintage.

      Green Lover had that warm textured vanilla going on, I get that it's interesting and loved but it's not personally for me. I rate it as a decent fragrance though. I'd still recommend it.
      Those Lattafa atomisers all corroded, all three of them... What IS it?!
      You would hate the RL. You would think it quite synthetic feeling. Place Vendome would be acceptable for you I think but not exciting... I agree with you, Pure Poison is the way forward.
      Ricci Ricci you didn't mind did you? It's quite syrupy and 2000s but it's a great one.
