Ah, the hymns of yesteryear that I miss so much. Our churches in America have pretty much gone to praise songs. Some of the praise songs are okay, but I fear most will not be remembered or hummed 20 years from now. It makes me sad that we've robbed the younger generation of our hymn/psalm heritage.

Bom dia!

@@neuzeliasbahrmilke369 That is very encouraging. In my own life, we left our traditional, orthodox church in 2006 for a theological reason and joined a parish that uses mostly contemporary Christian music. Our son didn't care for it and remains to this day at our former church who uses only organ, liturgy and classic hymnody. He loves the ancient ways and I support that, except when he belittles our church's musical style. I remind him that good churches do only orthodox, traditional liturgy and hymns and that good churches do solid Christian contemporary musical style but GREAT CHURCHES find a way to DO BOTH. "Something for everyone" is not a bad concept, even within the church but it IS very heartening to know that, like me, so many yet prefer the hymns and pipe organs of old. Thank you for sharing that.

I am one of the fortunate ones whose American church sings almost all of these hymns on a regular basis. And our organ is a 4 manual 94 rank Casavant of recent vintage.
Our American organist got his degrees from both Yale and Eastman before spending a few years as the first organ scholar at Royal Albert Hall and then on to Canterbury Cathedral as the Assistant Organist. Somebody in our congregation quietly and anonymously ponied up quite a chunk of change to steal him away! But it also shows the cut of cloth we have for a senior pastor that this sort of music is what we desired to have to truly worship God.
The choir consists of multiple music majors from the local University and far more members with music degrees already logged in our backgrounds. We are blessed. And in East Texas we truly are a one-of-a-kind church!
For our Fine Arts Series, we recently had Peter Holder of Westminster Abbey perform. It was heart stopping! Having played at the funerals of both Prince Phillip and then Queen Elizabeth, he next played for Charles’ coronation.
As my 88 year old mother had watched Elizabeth’s coronation live 70 years ago on a tiny black and white TV, and then her funeral services live again now, this concert by Peter was for her the ultimate capstone to mark both ends of that remarkable era of history which she had lived completely through that exceeded even that of Queen Victoria. It’s been weeks now but she’s still floating on air.
As I said, we are blessed. And grateful.

@@judithhardin2783 I’m at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, TX. We have a IV/94 Casavant organ and the church stole our organist from Canterbury Cathedral where he was the First Assistant Organist. He had also been an organ scholar at a couple of other English cathedrals and was in fact the first organ scholar at the Royal Albert Hall. His degrees stateside are from Eastman and Yale after being introduced to the organ at Interlochen. He’s currently also now working on a as DMA in harpsichord at North Texas.

I live in Texas and I have never been in a church building as grand as the one you played the magnificent hymns at. How can anyone not be spiritually awakened and totally committed to Christ in such a Heavenly environment? If I resided near this church, I would attend every service. Already, just after the first two songs played, my voice is going out, from singing along. Never have my ears heard such a stately version of Praise The Lord, The Almighty. One of my favorite songs is Eternal Father, Strong To Save, because I would not had been born, had my father not been saved after a ship he served on sank. Thank you Mr McVeigh for caring enough to preserve our Christian heritage through these amazing videos. May God cause a special blessing come to you for your devotion to Christ and service to His church family around the world.

Watching tonight in Southern Australia - have been unwell, and these pieces, so well known and so much loved, are truly a healing spirit for mind and soul. Thank you Richard - I'd love to be there in some of those remarkable English churches - such amazing heritage!

Your videos are so inspiring, and this one is top notch! These instruments are so very beautiful to hear and to see. I studied about pipe organs when I was younger (1970's) and never dreamed I would ever get to hear and see so many well known and beautiful instruments! Yet, 50 years or so later, here I am, experiencing a dream come true on your channel. Yes, you do make a difference!
Your performances are always a delight to hear and watch (love the PIP pedal work). You put out so many beautiful videos on RUclips... all I can say is
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Two of my favorite All Saints hymns. For All The Saints and I sing a song of the saints of God. Every all saints for 20+ years. They brought tears to my eyes. Thinking about my late wife.

This compilation of favorite hymns on all the different organs in different cathedrals is absolutely incredible❣️I love these hymns we seldom sing anymore❣️ The most meaningful one though is “It is well with my soul”, I’m always sobbing by the end of the first line. That was one of my Mom’s favorite hymns and one the 12 of us sang at her funeral. It will be three years tomorrow since she went to be with her Lord and I can hardly see to type this through my tears. I miss her so much and it will always hurt that she spent her last 11 days alone in the hospital and we weren’t allowed to come and say goodbye.
I’m just so grateful that you are performing and producing these videos, they fill a hole in my soul that’s been there a long time. Thank you and God bless you, Caroline, Hugo and your new baby❣️
And I love your cats, we are a two cat family as well❣️😻😻

My heart goes out to you... May God grant you comfort in knowing that the separation is just for a little while, but the Great Reunion is FOREVER!
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Richard, you are truly a master at recording these magnificent pipe organs. Getting the right balance, volume, and dispersion is most challenging with organs, but your amazing musicianship and recording talents make it all excellent. Thank you.

Wonderful music, playing, recording and videography! All are impressive and am always transfixed especially by How's evocative poetry and Vaughan William's tune Sine Nomine in the hymn "For all the Saints." Basically fascinating to see what appears to be some pedal work done in stocking feet with those amazingly designed footwear! Good to hear the hymns played at a smart pace, not dragged out and on as so often is the situation in actual church services.
