Richard & Caroline, I wonder if you can ever know how much truth, beauty, & good you bring to all of your listeners & our cyber world? I'm eternally grateful...
00:00:02 I vow to thee my country (THAXTED) 00:02:37 How can I sing the majesty that angels do admire (COE FEN) 00:06:26 Love divine, all loves excelling (BLAENWERN) 00:09:57 Dear Lord and Father of all mankind (REPTON) 00:13:25 And did those feet in ancient time (JERUSALEM) 00:16:07 Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven (LAUDA ANIMA) 00:18:53 Come, labor on (ORA LABORA) 00:24:20 Allelujah!, Sing to Jesus! (HYFRODOL) 00:30:17 All creatures of our God and King (LASST UNS ERFREUEN) 00:33:36 Forty days and forty nights (ABERYSTWYTH) 00:36:00 Praise to the Lord!, the Almighty!, the King of Creation (LOBE DEN HERRN) 00:39:02 All my hope on God is founded (MICHAEL) 00:42:18 For all the saints (SINE NOMINE) 00:48:32 O thou that camest from above (HEREFORD) 00:51:21 The day of resurrection (ELACOMBE) 00:54:55 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want (CRIMOND) 00:57:55 Alleluia!, Alleluia!, hearts to heaven (LUX EOI) 01:01:18 Abide with me (EVENTIDE) 01:06:30 God save the King! (NATIONAL ANTHEM) 01:08:37 Oh say can you see (THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER)
12:34 the build up to the "Speak through the Earthquake, wind and fire" ....you really can feel the earthquake and fire in the music, and it calms down immediately. It seems you notice and play according to the lyrics too . Really awesome!
Taking the lyrics into account is very important in hymn playing indeed and it is up to the organist to adapt registrations to suit the words, eg quiet for reflective hymns or even verses, usually not changing the registrations as such in the middle of a verse but for the verse itself
As an American member of the Anglican Church, each of these hymns is special to me & so beautifully, wonderfully, and majestically played & sung. Thank you so much for your talent, time, and skill!
I loved the cat! Ok, Repton was my absolute favorite! Immediately puts my heart and head in a different space, but the cat was a close second! And thank you for the great aerial shots and photography of the gorgeous inside architecture!
You play the ("pipe") organ VERY well, Sir! I love the way you select the stops and registrations. AND your wife sings beautifully! Yes, this is a phenomenal selection of well-known hymns. Although I have a very limited implementation of a 2-manual digital instrument with no pedals, you have been a tremendous inspiration to me. Today is Sunday and these hymns have been my hour of worship. Continue to let God use your talents, young man and young lady.
I will be repeat playing this magnificent post many times over the few weeks, such amazing truths in these hymns that is much needed in these trying times. Thank you so much!!!
I enjoyed the two anthems the most at the end!! Hope you get a chance to play for a service attended by the King! You are a fantastic organist! One of my favourites!!
I’m new’ish to your channel and loving it! Rarely get to tune-in live, but have been listening afterward, especially while I’m working. I work at a crazy Int’l law firm that has me hopping all day long, but if I have your channel on in the background I get a feeling of calm and peace. I find myself humming along with many selections that I would not have even said I remembered until I hear them and my musical memory kicks in. Some of it reminds me of when I played piano (mostly classical) but most of it is that innate, know-what-note-comes next harmony that is such a part of me I didn’t even realize it. I don’t attend a traditional church anymore, but I was raised Lutheran with all the lovely, moving German hymns and (ahh) Bach. My mom and I both sang in the choir and, when we didn’t, we sang alto harmony from the pews. You and your channel are a treasure. Thank you !!
Superb concert, incredibly beautiful! Thank you! It's hard to focus in on a favorite, they were all so beautiful. But I have to say that "O thou who camest from above (Hereford)" (48:32) is one I have had to go back to listen to again. And again. Caroline's voice is absolutely lovely and beautiful, and it's such a nice tune.
Coe Fen is my favourite - I think it's certainly one of the best tunes written in recent years, and arguably ever! It's such an uplifting tune to sing, and matches the beautiful words perfectly. It's sad to think that Ken Naylor didn't live to see how popular it's become in the last 20 years or so (although I'm sure he knew it was well received at the time) and what a staple of the repertoire it is, in so many places of worship.
😂Wow this has made my day Richard and Caroline singing is absolutely wonderful Thanks for sharing this will definitely save this one to watch again Regards Keith 💓
I REALLY REALLY WANT TO SEE YOU PLAY O THE DEEP DEEP LOVE OF JESUS WITH THE BEST ORGAN STOP SELECTION POSSIBLE!! The last verse should be out of this world...
Loved hearing you play at Chichester Cathedral. Time stamp 19:10. I was there last Tuesday for a lunchtime concert. It's Organ is beautiful and is demonstrated by Tim Ravaldy on BIS.
Random question, Richard. Looking at your merchandise. Please explain to me what organist 8 is? Or anyone that knows? Thank you! I will be buying something soon! Best wishes!! -John

The Lord is my shepherd.
Prause my soul, the King of heaven.... vocal and organ... beautiful!!!
1:02:52 through the end of Abide With Me. There's no leaving that with dry eyes. 🥹
6/2/24 5pm when your wife sings and I joined her

I loved and sang along with most of them, but “Jerusalem,” I actually applauded!
Come labor on!!! Absolutely one of my favorites.
I’d never heard it before, and loved text & music!

The Organ, sublime solemn majestic instrument, which takes us up high freeing us from the miseries and baseness of our life !
Yours is such a profound comment, Sir. It took away my breath! Thank you.
How shall praise Thy Majesty
Excellent playing, rather spoiled by RUclips throwing in adverts during the hymns.
Beautiful music, singing and architecture, an excellent combo ❤️🎹🛐
lol lovin' the thunder!
Random question, Richard. Looking at your merchandise. Please explain to me what organist 8 is? Or anyone that knows? Thank you! I will be buying something soon! Best wishes!! -John
