  • After two years of absence due to the Corona pandemic, the Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM) held its annual steam train festival again on the 3rd and 4th of September 2022. It was a great weekend with high temperatures, close to 30 degrees Centigrade.
About two dozens steam trains and a handfull of old diesel locs were actively transporting visitors between Beekbergen, Loenen, Apeldoorn, Eerbeek and Dieren.
Most of VSM's stock consists of the largest steam locomotives built in Germany in the mid 1950's, but there are also some older locs in their collection. You will see locs with 2-6-2 and even 2-10-0 axle arrangements!
The carriages consist of a mix of Dutch ("MAT 34"), Austrian and other stock.
The VSM was established in 1975 and is still going strong.
In this film we see most of the VSM's stock and the huge crowds that participated in this great event. It is an unedited version of a video in 4K, made by me.
These steam locomotives can be seen in this film:
    - "01 1075" from 1940 (2350 hp).
    - "23 023" from 1952 (1750 hp).
    - "23 071" from 1956 (1785 hp).
    - "23 076" from 1956 (1785 hp).
    - "44 1593 1" from 1943 (2100 hp)
    - "50 3654 6" from 1956 (1600 hp).
    - "52 3879" from 1944 (1600 hp).
    - "52 8091 2" from 1943 (1600 hp).
    - "52 8139" from 1943 (1600 hp).
    - "64 415" from 1936 (950 hp).
as well as the diesel locs:
    - "NS 2530" from 1957 and
    - "NS 2459" from 1957.
The "01 1075" and "23 023" are not owned by the VSM but by the Stoom Stichting Nederland, located in Rotterdam. All other locs are the property of the VSM.
Other steam trains that were in operation (but not seen) were the "50 307" and "65 018". Watch other films on RUclips about this VSM event to catch their glimpse.
More information can be found on their respective websites: www.stoomstichting.nl/ and stoomtrein.org/.

*Please don't forget to subscribe to my channel* ! There are already more than 270 videos there.
Compare this video with any video that was made on a mobile phone! This was made on a real 4K prosumer Sony video camcorder and motion-stabilized afterwards. You would think that I used a tripod, but I didn't!.

Wow! To think the 64 415 is as old as it is, but stull running beautifully. Our family also love going to train shows, and museums. If you ever come to the UK, York train museum is fantastic.
Great video as always, to think your video quality transgresses the decades! Many thanks

Het is altijd geweldig om te gaan kijken en meerijden met de stoomtrein van vsm.
Die stom locs zijn heel indrukwekkend.
Ik ga er wel eens kijken in klarenbeek.

Fantastic and thanks for sharing. I could almost smell the hot grease and oil from these engines. I just love the age of steam... Nice filming..

Nice video - who does not love a Steam Engine working away, the smells, sounds and the odd whistle to to keep your attention. Cheers and thanks for sharing.

      @Rick88888888  Год назад +4

This is not colored. It was shot 11 days ago in full 4K (2160p) modern video with a good Sony camcorder (and further motion-stabilized to make it seem as if it was filmed on a tripod).

@@AJCool-wi6gh Thank you for these 3 links. The first two I already knew. As I said the quality is poor. The third is unusable from a historic and copyright perspective. Most of the attack and sinking scenes were done with studio models which is very visible (probably done on a low budget'). Keep searching please!
