This list is based on the show up to season 6 so NO ARYA
Yes Brienne beat the Hound in single combat but keep in mind: the Hound had been travelling for days, was starving and was also suffering from a nasty infection. He still put up a good fight.
Jaime is considered when he had both hands, and Selmy is at 9 because he is old. In his prime he would be at number 2. Brienne beat Jaime and the Hound but Jaime was malnourished and handcuffed. The Hound had a nasty infection and had been exhausted from traveling for days.
This list is based soley on the TV show. Books are not considered.
Yes, Jon Snow has the most on screen kills but that doesn't prove anything, he is a main character who fights, of course it will be high. Jon Snow was beaten by Karl Tanner, Jon is a good fighter but he is not prodigy level. All the fighters on this list will have a very high chance of beating Jon.
This list is not 100% set in stone except maybe Arthur Dayne, the rest can probably be shifted around a bit. There are so many fighters in Game of Thrones it's really hard to make a list putting them in exact order because we do not have absolute information from the show on what the order really is. Everybody has a different opinion about what the list should be, this is one attempt at ordering them. Also, don't think that the characters at the bottom of the list are weak because they definitely are not! They are in the top 10 strongest fighters in the entire Game of Thrones list, there are probably over a hundred characters that I could've chosen from. So please do not dislike the video if you see a character that is not in the exact position you want them to be, or because your favourite character is toward the bottom of the list. Sir Arthur Daynes Fighting Ned and his troup always give me chills. Damn what an epic fighter he was.
Jaime Lannister vs Ned Stark was one of my favorite 1v1 scenes in GoT. I love how Jaime went in all cocky and just thought he was going to toy with Ned and have some fun, but that smirk on his face changes to a more serious/determined look when he realizes that a duel with Ned Stark isn't something you take lightly.
True.. but the series never showed how good Jaimie was. Didn't show he single handedly killed 5 of the norths best knights at the river.. he would be number 2 below Dayne.
Ned Stark was by no means a great or bad fighter. Jamie would have beet him easily.

I think Brienne deserves an honorable mention, but don’t skew the facts. Arya is a skilled fighter, but to go 1v1 in combat against anyone of these guys and she loses easily. Arthur dayne is the greatest fighter and a prime Selmy his second.
In the books, Brienne mentions that even with Jaimie weak, he was still superior and a hard fight. If he wasn't weakened she couldn't have beaten him. Brienne also did not fight the hound in the books, so all of this is just movie or show thoughts, not true cannon

Brienne was in full Armour, healthy, and had a Valyrian sword. The hound was wounded, living off scraps and had been on the road for months.
Briene had all of the advantages and still barely won the fight against the hound…. In fact every major fight she had, was against a weakened wounded starving opponent…
That was a great list, you should have added honorable mention - Ser Jorah Mormont, Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Briene of Tart and most importantly Grey Worm

Considering that Ned fought Jaime Lannister at his age, and managed to hold himself quite well against Ser Arther Dayne, I would say he’s quite a good fighter too.

You are correct, I would had put Eddard Stark just below Jamie Lannister. Eddard would had fought Gregor Clagane if he had to. But if Jamie Lannister had his right hand, he would had gladly fought Gregor Clegane without hesitation. And as you said, Jamie was a bit younger at the peak of his prime where Eddard was still at his prime but just past his peak.
Ned Stark was a fraud, he was living for so long with the credit of having killed Ser Arthur Dayne that he probably started to believe it himself. Poor, tragic character.

I’m surprised Grey Worm and Jon Snow were not on the list. The mountain was extremely strong but he only won the fight against Martell cause Martell got too close. I thought Jorah would get a spot too but I guess there can only be 10.🤗 Totally agree with 1 and 2 spots!!

I think that’s what makes the hound and brianne two of the best. They both worked on their swordplay, the hound training to eventually kill the mountain and, breanne despite her stature wanted to be closer to the men.

I agree. He just be MAYBE 10 on this list. All of the 1 on 1 fights we saw him do he lost. To Oberyn and Loras Tyrell. I think The Mountain was more like an effective interrogator and terrorist. Bronn should be much higher because we saw him fight and win everytime, fighting 1v1 or a group of enemies.
The way ned stark ended his fight by back stabbing Arthur dayne and then ned kills Arthur.....but then in his fight with jaime ned is the one who gets backstabbed but jaime didnt end him....such a cool detail not alot of people thought about
That's because young Ned wanted to win the fight while Jaime Lannister wanted to have the fight. He gains nothing by defeating Ned Stark in that situation. He wants to prove he's better, not simply bypass an obstacle.

@@mistergreengenez Also Arthur was dead at that point, Ned did him a favor by executing him. You could see from Ned's reactions in that fight that he's gotten anxious before the 1vs1, probably knowing he's in big trouble, but part of him felt sorry for Arthur as he shouldn't have lost the fight.
Also kinda ironic he shames Jamie for stabbing the mad king when Arthur only dies bc he got stabbed in the back. He was in a rush to get to his sister so he probably was willing to overlook it but the mad king was literally about to burn everyone alive but he treats Jamie like he's less honorable bc of it.

Dario's move was pure strategy. The calm and cocky way he despatched his opponent was outstanding.
The Hound should be listed above The Mountain. Even the enhanced-immortal version of the Mountain was killed by his younger brother.

Drogo kill an armed man, whilst unarmed. Not only that but he even gave the guy a free slice and mocks him the hole fight before killing him with his own weapon and pulling his tongue out from the neck wound. (anyone who thinks he shouldn't be on the top 10 is clearly an idoit)
Tbh the top 2 are accurate but the rest of the list is fucked.
Good example is sir Bariston Selmey beats 9 to 10 opponents at the age of 70 but is the number 9 pick under the hound and Jamie L. Who both lost to Breanne of Tarth (who's not included in the list). Breanne also bested Loras Tyrell to become Rendlys kings guard, she only really loses a sparring match to Arya (who also isn't included in the list). As much as I love Bron (my favorite character in the hole series) and as badass as he is, I think he would lose to Arya or John tbh.

When asked who would win in a duel, George R.R. Martin said that if Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy fought with equivalent weaponry it would be a very even fight - but if Dayne was armed with his sword Dawn, he would have the advantage over Selmy ==> So basically, if Arthur Dayne is No.01, Barristan Selmy should be, at least, top 5.
+Long Chu Minh The reason Selmy is no. 9 is because he's grown much older. It's impressive that he could even fight like he did in the clip in this video given his age. If I considered Selmy in his prime he would be no. 2 above Drogo and below Dayne.(I considered him in his old age because this list is based on characters in the T.V series)

Bronn showed true honor after his fight when he gave a chance for the queen to pardon Tyrion to spare the knight's life but she refused and allowed a good knight to die in a fight that was clearly over.

He killed one of his blood riders, using the blood riders own weapon.. it is known that khal blood riders are among the fiercest warriors of the horde. Even Robert Baratheon says only a fool would meet them in open combat. The Dothraki are not to be fucked with and Khal Drogo never lost a fight to anyone. And he died from infection not the warrior..

I've never watched GoT, but I get videos about it recommended to me time and time again, 'cause the algorithm picked up I like medieval stuff. The flaming sword caught me off guard lol. Very stupid disadvantage to put yourself into, but at least you have a medieval lightsaber.
Bronn is underated. I think that he's the most dangerous. He's skilled, dirty and knows what it takes to beat his opponents.

@@fzo-b2131 It would be more close. The mountains strength increased a lot more after his death, and while the Mountain was much stronger than even the Hound, the Hound was skilled and just strong enough to fight the mountain in season 1.

Oberyn was stylistically perfect for taking on the mountain. I don’t think anyone else would have been equipped for that on open combat.

The Mountain dominates all within proximity regardless of skill because he can overpower even the most skilled. Oberyn’s style with a poisoned spear gave him the perfect tools to counter him with - it provided him both distance (spear length) and time (poison setting in); which are the Mountain’s greatest weaknesses. His pride is the only reason he lost. Otherwise it was a total combat victory. I maintain that Oberyn was stylistically perfect for taking on the Mountain.

enhanced mountain will probably beat almost anyone at this point. He would've made it into top 10 before, but now he is stronger and more resilient than ever, immune to pain and poison, untiring and unfeeling.
Night King also has some plenty of unnatural strengths, though we do not yet know the extent of them.
Now we know the Night King is weak vs Arya.

Oberyn,Ser Arthur Dayne and Khal Drogo are my 3 faves. It would be good to see all 3 in another series that pre-dates the original just to see them grow as warriors.
My favourite WAS Oberyn but he player too much around The Mountain, he had to kill him when he could, but i think Oberyn was One of the best or even the best in Game Of Thrones

The effects and camera and cgi was amazing.
Just the story was not good.

Top 3 is nice. I think these three beasts match up quite equally. I often think Oberyn might have the edge over the other two, but then I think of how epic Dayne was, and then each time I see Khal Drogo, I say he's the strongest and nobody can match him.
These three are legends. Barristan in his prime is also at this level.

@@Ryan-ge8xq No it isn't, because G.R.R.M confirmed personally that his Nr. 1 pick for a Trial of Combat would be Jaime Lannister, with the second and third I believe being Barristan and Brienne. Jaime was born and raised in Westeros under Westerosi culture, practice and lifestyle, as were they all. Arthur Dayne also would destroy any fighter not from Westeros.
I don't see even Drogo having a fucking chance against someone like The Hound. He's weaker, shorter, just barely quicker, has no armor, doesn't know how to deal with it, fights with a poor weapon for fighting on foot and an even poorer one against armor, has less reach, less versatility, and clearly less of a punishment threshold. The Dothraki were based upon the likes of the Huns, Mongols, Native Americans. Know what happened when such nomadic peoples came up against armored Romans or Europeans on foot? They got fucking annihilated. Mounted archery, kiting guerilla warfare, that's the only way they could win. There's a reason people wore armor, a reason those who did dominated. The fencing of medieval Europeans, whom the Westerosi are based upon, just reigned supreme. Them and the Japanese were masters of fighting arts.
