Toptip: If you have trouble taking the airbag of true the slits on the back (its hard!), take of the black plastic trim on top (behind the wheel) This way you have much better access to the metal clips holding the airbag in. You can actually SEE them this way en unclip them with a screwdriver. (and you dont have to puncture your old wheel)
So stoked right now. I checked and my car 318i LCI 2016 was pre-wired. Installed a new steering wheel and shifters work great. Getting the center bolt off was a struggle though. Thanks Brian for this.
Great video and tutorial. Just finished the retrofit pedal shifter on the G30. The wiring was missing but with this video I did it without any problem. Well done for the quality of the description and the work itself. I'm still following you.
Hi Brian I would like to let you know I have just changed my steering wheel for one with paddles and recode now the paddles work great video’s keep up all the great work 😝Steve Uk
Great video man!! Are all F series Msport cars pre-wired for paddle shifters even if they don’t have them currently? I’ve been checking out a few F10’s and noticed some Msport ones didn’t have the paddles.
Hey Bryan, when retrofitting an M sport steering wheel with paddles to a 2012 sport line F30, is there a specific wheel we need to get? Or will any M sport steering wheel with paddles work?
Hello Bryan, thanks for the Tutorial! I have a qustion, can we Code the extra buttons like M1 and M2, for drive mode change? That's gonna be cool, if we can do that! Regards!
Bryan, thank you for another great video. Quick question regarding removing the battery's negative terminal. Some tuners recommend to keep the key fob away from a certain distance (so the car doesn't detect the key) before removing the negative terminal. Is that necessary? or can we simply remove the negative terminal with the key in our pocket?
So I have verified I am pre-wired for paddles (green/yellow stripe wire, #3 pin on steering wheel connector and #5 pin on the FEM connector). I've installed a MSport wheel with paddles, I've enabled paddles in Bimmercode just as you did in this video, and when I go to test... nothing. What am I missing? Wiring all looks right, wiring hardness to paddles and such in the wheel are all good to go from what I can tell. I am stuck on what to try next.
Great video, very helpful from Mexico I did it watching this, only one question, I changed the steering wheel on my f20 2016 M sport, add a wheel just same as shown on video, do you know how I can code cruise control, old steering wheel only have LIM button, new one have cruise control button and RES
i wish you released this video earlier, about 3 years ago when I purchased my 2015 F36 from the dealership. I paid $$$ for the m performance steering wheel
I feel like some people go way too overboard with it. I have a 2015 BMW 328i xDrive in the middle of an M3 conversion (cliche, but it’s fun af lol) - most people I see delete everything to carbon fiber, and to me that just screams too much. I ended up deleting that wood looking interior to a dry carbon fiber (switching to gloss soon), and the dash trim estriol blue. The middle console is still the blacc, but the trim is the stocc silver, where the shifter is. I also switched my button the the blue start/stop button, and surrounded that with gloss carbon fiber, and all of my handles are carbon fiber, however, I feel like ANY lick more of CF, is way too much for the interior. I feel like stacking a carbon fiber shifter, on a carbon fiber trim, next to another carbon fiber piece, especially already having a CF dash, and steering wheel, is like “dude… you good?” Lol. At least mix it up 🥲. Like my exterior is forged carbon fiber + white body, blue and yellow accents, while my interior is dry carbon fiber + blacc interior and blue accents (and my orange ambient).
Thanks for this video. I just did the m sport steering swap. I was wondering besides paddle shifter coding is there any other coding we should be concerned about like airbag etc.? I did have a "chases stabilization" warning come up on my test drive.
Thank for the content, question, I have a pre LCI 2013 f10 m5 and I am looking to upgrade my steering wheel, I have the old steering wheel, when I buy the new steering wheel do I get the airbag with it.
Morning Bryan , thanks for the Video , in 3 days i get a 535D with the stock wheel and i'm wondering if it's the same wiring check IE terminal 5 for pre-wired paddle shifting . thanks sir great Video once again Jon
Thank you ! I have a 2012 F30 with the base steering wheel but it already has paddle shifters so I’m guessing I just need to change steering wheel without coding ?
Hi I have F30 and I bought the steering wheel paddle shifters but I don't have wire #5. I would appreciate if you send me the link to the wiring Thanks
I just swapped my F30 steering wheel but had a hard time getting it. What I noticed afterwards was, thes white plastic nipples are sitting very tight in the wheel. So keep in mind to pull hard on the airbag. And if u cant finde the metal lashes, you can remove the plastic cover from your steeringcolum and actually see the lashes from behind (recommend to turn the wheel 90°).
If the footwell module has a pin in no. 5 do you also have to check for the no. 3 pin behind the steering wheel? Or if it has one it will have the other? Thanks.
My car has heated steering wheel and lane keep assist which vibrates the wheel if the car is getting out of lane. Will I lose these feature if I get M sport wheel installed?
Just picked up an F26 28i M sport, will this wheel upgrade be direct plug and play? Might pick up an F80 wheel but then need to find airbag, controls, and harness.
Hi Thx for your video, do you maybe know what is metal pin code/number that goes into the passenger side terminal and in steering wheel terminal, is it maybe xh2.54 mm ?
Hey unrelated question. Have you shot a video about injectors on your n55? My 2014 335i with 31k miles just blew the #6 injector. It's a pretty simple install. But there is conflicting info on coding via Esys or INPA. I believe it's possible for both but would like to see a tutorial with an ENET cable.
Just to clarify, if my F30 already has paddles with the basic wheel, I can just swap in the M-Sport steering wheel and be good to go without any coding? No mismatch of airbag plugs, codes, or anything of that sorts?
You seem to be very knowledgeable about your BMS's. As this is one of the very few video's where the Front Electronic Module is mentioned I have a question for you; there is a very strong electric/burning smell coming from mine (BMW F20). Everything works but the smell is quite nauseating... Have you ever encountered such thing before? Thank you and keep up the good work!
I noticed you had the heated steering wheel function in that car. Did the new Msport wheel come with that function as well or did you need to code out that function?
Hi, i did that but my M sport wheel does not have vibration module, my blind spot system is now not working, could we code it to work without vibration but keep the visual warning of the mirrors?
Awsome video brian I plan on doing this to my f30 also , question how about all the other features on the steering wheel like cruise control and volume and next track functions do they not require coding ?
@KiesMotorsports hi dear im going to buy a bmw f30 320i ED n13 engine with 141xxxmiles in it, car already change timing chain alternator sparks, starter ignition radiator and etc, just when test driving the car, i felt a vibration in the car while in gear in traffic is it something expensive or just the engine mount? Thanks for the reply
Hei, super nice video :-) Just 2 questions: is it possible too with a 316d F30? If the car is not prepaired how I get a pin for the number 5? Thanks in advance
Hi Brian and thanks for the video! I have a question, if I buy a steering wheel and then separately airbag from different car, do I need reprogramming for the airbag? The air bag on my car was never deployed, so I am hoping just put everything together and pray that it will work :)
Im going to get a 2016 F30 330E next week, will it let me use the paddle shifters once i install this steering wheel? Really interested since its a deal breaker if i wont be able to use the paddle shifters
Hi. Nice video. I have a question. BMW have two automatic gearboxes. The sport with dual clutch and the one with only one clutch. Will this work for both? Is your car fitted with the one clutch gearbox?
If my gearbox is manual, not automatic, I dont have to check the wires underneath? So I just change steering wheel and connect those wires inside steering wheel and drive?
Can I do this to my new F40 118i automatic? It doesn’t come with paddle shifters but I know there is an m performance steering wheel WITH shifters? I have an automatic soo....
Have they removed the fem module access through bimmercode. Tried coding my paddles like you said here but fem module isn't there. Have an f10 and can't find that paddle option active anywhere.
Nice HD video..anyway explain to all people in here, bimmer code app is limited on coding, you done a basic coding that steering wheel is not fully integrated ... you need to do a VO code, thats the correct way the car will have Sport+ option too
I have a M sport steering wheel already on my 2014 f30 but it doesn’t have the paddle shifters. Can I just order the paddles separately or do I got to buy a whole new steering wherl
Need your help, I purchased an M Sport steering wheel just like the one you installed for my BMW F10 2014 528i. The problem is that the hole on the M sport steering wheel is a little small and it won’t go through . What can I do?
Brian, does this not bring up an error with the airbag after fitment? BTW I'm all the way in South Africa with an F20 but same same. Lol. Love this channel!
TheHoodiman No it wouldn’t because he disconnected the battery while removing the aribag wires and the steering wheel it self. but if you don’t disconnect the battery you will get a airbag light on your dash. plus its not safe, the chances are very low but the airbag might deploy it self. its better to disconnect the battery whenever you are working with electronics on your vehicle.
Okay now the only thing I'm missing is a F30.
Haha
So you bought a steering wheel
Same
We have a e90 320i
Lmao
Why am i watching this, i dont even have a driver license lol
Lol
same
same here lol!
Same im 12
Neither do I but I have a 328I
Bro stop coming out with good mods, we are going to go broke😂
Lol, we're just getting started ;)
I can relate so badly to this comment, evertime I think im done a new mod pops up
You mean... more broke 😅
Hahahahah
More like about to get a loan 😂
It’s so funny how easy it is for you to remove the trim!
Lol
Did this mod today, I saved up and it was totally worth it. This mod changes the feel of the whole car.
TheJungatron just cause u said it changes the feel of the car I’m do it now fam
That trunk idea is pure genius.. I would have totally forgotten that and closed it
This guy knows everything there is to know about bmw's love it
Toptip: If you have trouble taking the airbag of true the slits on the back (its hard!), take of the black plastic trim on top (behind the wheel) This way you have much better access to the metal clips holding the airbag in. Thanks Brian for this.
Couldn't have timed this better. Just got paddles hooked up and got the app to code today
Awesome!
Ur a legend ive learnt so much about f30s from ur channel
oh yeah yeah
Kies, you are just amazing. Don't know how I would have installed my new wheel and wire it for paddles without your help. Thank you so much!
Watching this 2 years later, and just now realizing how clean that transition was
Just bought a 2012 328 after watching videos from your channel
Great video and tutorial. Just finished the retrofit pedal shifter on the G30. The wiring was missing but with this video I did it without any problem. Well done for the quality of the description and the work itself. I'm still following you.
Hey bro was wondering if it worked the same way on the g30, glad you shared that🙏🏽
First of all the quality of the videos is now amazing 👌 Also you should’ve mentioned coding the airbag based on where you have sourced them from
Thanks 🙏🏼 yes, that’s a good point
Can you please explain about the sourcing importance.
Hi Brian
I would like to let you know I have just changed my steering wheel for one with paddles and recode now the paddles work great video’s keep up all the great work 😝Steve Uk
Loving my 15’ 328i w/ 49k so far. Drives amazing, sounds amazing, and looks beautiful. Cant wait to get my hand on this sport steering wheel!
I did this full mod before and it wasn’t that daunting. The worst part is airbag release. Great videos Bryan.
Thanks, Tom!
Awesome !! Is there a video of how to install those lights? The one below the temperature dials ??
The best ever BMW steering wheel !
Haha agreed!
The best is the one with the gear shift indicator on the top in my opinion
Invaluable trunk lockout tip. Thank you.
Jason Domina not really..you can just use physical key and insert under trunk lid is hidden
On the F30, there's no key hole
this is the best looking steering wheel in all the industry
Juš Murnik new amg aluminum and carbon rivals it
Great video man!!
Are all F series Msport cars pre-wired for paddle shifters even if they don’t have them currently?
I’ve been checking out a few F10’s and noticed some Msport ones didn’t have the paddles.
Thanks, not all of the come pre-wired.. but if it doesn't, I can make you a cable to set it up 👍
Will this mod work with an F01 7 series?
Hey Bryan, when retrofitting an M sport steering wheel with paddles to a 2012 sport line F30, is there a specific wheel we need to get? Or will any M sport steering wheel with paddles work?
Your branding is spot on and fantastic!
Hello Bryan, thanks for the Tutorial! I have a qustion, can we Code the extra buttons like M1 and M2, for drive mode change? That's gonna be cool, if we can do that! Regards!

Great video and very helpful, specially about peddle shifts👌
Bro am in Jamaica I have a 2011 bmw 5 series f10 520d from out of Germany I need to installed my paddle shifter can that work on my car?

Great video so want to do this in my F30 wish you lived closer to me here in Midwest!
Remove the steering column cover, turn the wheel 90deg, and the airbag clips are exposed at the back. That is how it should be done.
👍 follower from Malaysia here 😬 going to get 320d F30 soon...
Bro I’m interested to see how you install the wiring hardness on your 320d. Please record video and guide us how to do it if can! Cheers
I paid $$$ for the m performance steering wheel
am I the only one that thinks carbon starts to get old?
Yes, I’m going gloss black on my dark blue f30 build. I feel like it’s unique to be “plain Jane”
@@JulianV800 Gloss/piano black interiors scratch way too easily.

just to understand, was the airbag which you removed from the first steering wheel the one u put into the new one?
If it’s right hand drive the white connector will be at same side or passenger side
When I saw this video being 8 minutes I thought no way in hell! But the man really changed out the wheel just like that wow !
Nice video ! Have a question about airbag, you use the same airbag ??
Thanks for this video. I just did the m sport steering swap. I was wondering besides paddle shifter coding is there any other coding we should be concerned about like airbag etc.? I did have a "chases stabilization" warning come up on my test drive.

Hi man,
What if you don’t have the “Pin nr 5 wire” ?
Awesome vid btw!
Hi
I have F30 and I bought the steering wheel paddle shifters but I don't have wire #5. I would appreciate if you send me the link to the wiring

You just need to get the correct spec on the new one 👍🏼
Excellent video! Please do you know, if is it possible to retrofit the shifter to sport automatic??? Thx for answer.
Very nice!!! can you tell me the App for coding? is it connected by usb only? tks
Just picked up an F26 28i M sport, will this wheel upgrade be direct plug and play? Might pick up an F80 wheel but then need to find airbag, controls, and harness.

Bryan, thank you so much for your vedio but I can't find out the vedio about the F30 not Prewired for Paddle shiters could you help me please
Is it ok to use a cotton towel to stop the trunk from closing or does it have to be micro fibre?
I have a G12 Individual and want to check if my car is pre wired. Any idea where ( what wires) to check in a 2016 750i ??
Hey Brian..can you let me know where did you purchase that steering. Also is it stage 1 or stage 2 (compatible with the codes here or is it from UK)
Hello! Thanks for video. What happens if I don't have the 5th wire on my car?
Hey unrelated question. Have you shot a video about injectors on your n55? My 2014 335i with 31k miles just blew the #6 injector. It's a pretty simple install. My car is manual, too bad man, that steering wheel looks insane !!
Can be done for manual
Hey, do you know if the steps are similar for the F25?
You seem to be very knowledgeable about your BMS's. Do you have to buy the full version of bummercode ?
Awsome video brian I plan on doing this to my f30 also , question how about all the other features on the steering wheel like cruise control and volume and next track functions do they not require coding ?
You should be okay. I didn't have to do anything to get them to work :)
Dear Brian, which adapter do you use (or recommend) with Bimmercode ?
I drive an automatic transmission. If I were to install this steering wheel I can skip the paddle shifters and coding segments of this video correct?
Correct 👍
I installed everything but I can't code. Should I buy the full version for coding?
Hei, super nice video :-)
Just 2 questions: is it possible too with a 316d F30?
If the car is not prepaired how I get a pin for the number 5?
Thanks in advance
So as for the airbag. Since we have airbag recalls. Is it still the same one from bmw (even though it’s retro)? :)
Hi Brian and thanks for the video! I have a question, if I buy a steering wheel and then separately airbag from different car, do I need reprogramming for the airbag? The air bag on my car was never deployed, so I am hoping just put everything together and pray that it will work :)

Hi. Nice video. I have a question. BMW have two automatic gearboxes. The sport with dual clutch and the one with only one clutch. Will this work for both? Is your car fitted with the one clutch gearbox?
Hallo? 😊
Does the limiter still work? Because the original steering wheel doesnt have the button.
I have a bmw f30 without steering wheel buttons. If I change the steering wheel, will the buttons work? Thanks
Hi Brian if I use BimmerCode for the paddles,if I set on do need to check for the wiring
could you do a paddle shifter install and coding for a f15 x5? really need help with it man! love the vids!
Also buddy do you have a step by step Inc coding for retro fitting cruise to an F20?
hi, Great video. Which app you are using to program paddle shift?
If my gearbox is manual, not automatic, I dont have to check the wires underneath? So I just change steering wheel and connect those wires inside steering wheel and drive?
Can I do this to my new F40 118i automatic? It doesn’t come with paddle shifters but I know there is an m performance steering wheel WITH shifters? I have an automatic soo....
Have they removed the fem module access through bimmercode. Tried coding my paddles like you said here but fem module isn't there. Have an f10 and can't find that paddle option active anywhere.
Do you have any information about retrofit Steering Wheel with paddles on e60 lci?
Nice HD video..anyway explain to all people in here, bimmer code app is limited on coding, you done a basic coding that steering wheel is not fully integrated ... you need to do a VO code, thats the correct way the car will have Sport+ option too
Can you do this to a e60 with headed steering wheel?
I have a M sport steering wheel already on my 2014 f30 but it doesn’t have the paddle shifters. Can I just order the paddles separately or do I got to buy a whole new steering wherl
You would need a paddle shifter retrofit kit! Reach out to our team at INFO@KIES.COM
So what do you do if it is not pre-wired? Has there ever been a case of that?
Could you tell me what type (terminal or connector) do you use to connect in PIN3 and PIN5?
Sweet vid. How did you code, and then start the car, with the battery disconnected though? = )
Show Me What I Need To Know lollllll exactly
Can you provide a link to the steering wheel you used?
Good job Bryan👏👏👏
It’s too late for me... how I get rid of the error?
