Hey, looking for some advice! Im planning on doing this steering wheel upgrade to my 1 series as I like the look and want to have cruise (i know I need cruise coding). Most f30 steering wheels seem to have paddles and my car is a manual, I know the paddles wont work which is fine (ill remove them most likely) but will have the paddle version confused the car? Will I HAVE to remove the paddles not to confuse the car?

No some of these cars come pre-wired with the harness. Basically we installed the wheel, hooked up all the connections, and coded the paddles to work, luckily my car had the harness, and so the paddles worked without needing to get a new harness! Which kinda sucks cause now I can't make a video on how to install the harness!

But a local shop that works on BMW's told me the only way to get the paddle shifters to work is if I also buy the airbag coil which I believe is like another $400 did you have to do this to get your shifters to work?

Thanks for this video. I just did the m sport steering swap. I was wondering besides paddle shifter coding is there any other coding we should be concerned about like airbag etc.? I did have a "chases stabilization" warning come up on my test drive.
The problem is when you need to code out airbag and it's only 1 stage - and who knows if it's even working - I mean you'll find it out only in accident lol. In addition if your car had heating or vibro motor in steering wheel - you'll need to code that too and no guarantee it will work. There are so many things
Ara Arutyan my heated steering works, and you know your airbag works when the airbag restraint light isnt on! Lol. Its coded exactly how a European spec f30 would be coded. No reason for it to not work. I didnt have vibro either way.

Orhan Arslan yes that’s pretty much what I did, but you must code it before driving for safety purposes if you got a dual stage airbag for a car that’s coded for single stage, or vice versa. Theoretically you can install the wheel, plug it in and drive but you should atleast code the airbag to work to its proper functionality. Safety first! Thank you so much, greetings from NYC!
To code paddle shifters you need the E-says software. Look on the "bimmerpost.com" website and search for coding paddle shifters as well as E-sys coding. I believe kies motorsports has a video on how to install paddle shifters and the code required to activate them

Germany is fucked up, a lot of cars get jacked, a lot more than in norway. Almost every part which has been stolen, is from a car in Germany
