Honestly Fern your first house was a treasure and beautiful. Yes, you got more money for it, but there are not too many houses like that now.
You may have to pay more to get the same type of a house - Nice garden, balcony with a great view, and a flat ensuite, fruit trees and swimming pool, patios, storage, barbecue area etc. It was a gem, bright light and a lot of positive vibe you had. You both worked so hard to get it almost perfect. Never mind you will find something good.
I did the same with my house in north London. I sold it - Big mistake I must say. I regret it now.
Keep looking you will find a better house. Wish you all the best.
Hi, remember, any work done now on a french property, has to be done according to the RE2020 regulations. This can be more expensive than building from scratch.
Fern if that villa was free and I was a multi millionaire I would pass on it. Location, location, location! I guess I don’t understand why the Tesla has sound effects, really what’s the point? To make people laugh? Seems pointless to me and just another gimmick! I guess I’m too old to get it! Question, when purchasing a house with all those personal possessions are the sellers responsible for emptying it out completely? So much stuff!
Think Ryan mentioned it was an estate sale?? Maybe someone passed on and everything was left as is?? Does need work-like lots…

You’d have to start a chateau renovation channel if you bought this house. It would take a huge chunk out of your life to fix it up. Well actually it would take a lifetime.

Hi Fern and Ryan, it was a lovely home, but would need alot of work and its all big dollars stuff. I purchased a home in Brittany but as typical here in Australia it had to be vacant possession which means the owner has to remove all there possession before settlement could take place. From what I understand this does not always happen. The house had been vacant for 10 years when I purchased it and it and the outbuildings were full of stuff just like what you would be dealing with if you purchased the property. The family cleared the property for the sale and it took them 3 months and many trips to the tip and the charity store. Anyone purchasing in France, be aware, only take a property at vacant possession, fees and charges for clearing a property can run into the thousands. It is a lot of work, this house, Fern! I was looking at the damp stain as well, and what else I didn't like, were the electricity poles so close to the house. I didn't like the view, the flats in the distance, either. Huge space, but a lot and lot of work and money. Please Fern, do something about Ryan's diet, that flatulence is worrying!😂😂😂❤

A massive renovation / modernisation job, which will take a huge amount of money and time. Rather windy in such a location. How far from the children's schools, supermarkets and airport? Of course, you do not want to be overlooked and prefer privacy. What will you decide after a bit of reflection?

I think Fern you are absolutely right to consider the location with close proximity to neighbors as being something to not compromise on. Our house we had bought in France was very beautiful but the location was awful and we so later regretted it. We rushed in and although again the house and grounds were breathtaking we ultimately turned around and sold it just a year later. As Ryan says, the right one in the right time will come along.

Please Ryan do be careful, in the Tesla has a mind of its, it has shifted into reverse into a pond in Texas.The car reversed itself into a pond and 15 feet under water, she drowned. And in CA, one burst into flames. A Tesla crashed through the metal fencing on the Riverside Drive overpass and onto the center divider of the 134 Freeway below in the Griffith Park area late Sunday, March 3, 2024, bursting into flames and burning for an extended period of time. Two men were injured. … A section of the overpass fencing remains stuck to the front of the vehicle’s shell.Happy house hunting! Good talk~Ida

I would move in a nice rent appartment. No big investments, not much work and enough time to plan the next step
The heirs should get trucks or dumpters to the site and clean out the property so it is not so overwhelming for viewers & a better chance of getting it sold fasteril. It is a huge renovation project.
Too big & too much expense to redo. If it was on its own in the open countryside, maybe, but a no from me.
