Girl, 2k for a south Ken studio is a joke. I’ve lived in Kensington and Chelsea for 15 years and trust me as nice as it is, if you can get a proper home for the same price in north or Clapham DO IT!!!!!

@@JustMe-fo4ev I think Taz can afford it. A lot of younger people will inherit money when they are older. As of July 2024, 50% of UK adults own their own home. That's the equivalent of 26.4 million people across the country. 28% of Brits own their home outright, whilst 22% have a mortgage.
I am SHOCKED by the prices and the quality of places you've shown 😫 I left London in July 2022 and our last flat was next door to Victoria Park, 2 bedroom (old but well looked after by the landlord), in a safe, gated group of flats AND had a parking space included for £1800pcm.... You should look on RUclips for London rental/ flats. People show what they get for their money. And a lot of people are literally getting a bedroom and a sink that's about it! It's super crazy! Up here in Yorkshire you get so much for your money being in the country but close to main cities. My ex is paying £1k for a *mortgage* NOT rent, in the main city for a flat with a balcony. I come from the south and it's near impossible to move back down due to the sky rocketed prices! Xx
I REFUTE paying someone else’s mortgage at these prices. Absolutely not, this is disgusting… I am so over the housing crisis in the UK. This is absolute pure greed…
My ex was working full time, 40+ hour weeks and all they could afford was a bedroom in a shared house. It's insane to think that a full time job could have paid a mortgage not long ago.
@natalia6788 is your problem from overseas buyers purchasing second homes? I live in Cornwall, England and a lot of our housing problems are rich people from London buying second homes for holidays.
It's similar, the problem is basically that you need 20% + mortgage costs to buy and most people don't have it because they pay rent, which is higher than what a mortgage would be so they're in a neverending loop. So investors and construction companies with money buy most properties to rent them, normally for tourists as they make a lot more profit. This is a huge problem especially in the islands as there are no places for the locals to rent and they have nowhere to go. Speculating with essential goods such as homes should be forbidden.
Ohhh my days, the first flat in clapham common, the tenant was still living there but the state of his toilet bowl......like he never cleans the toilet and toiley lid was open for all to see, surely he could of out a bit of effort for the people viewing his flat
When I first moved to the UK and was viewing places I was shocked at how the people here don’t care to clean up for viewings or pictures when selling homes. In South Africa it would have been spotless.
These prices and insane and forcing Londoners out. I moved to Vietnam from London 3 years ago and this video made me want to never to move back! When I left I was paying £850 for a small room in a shared house. For £600 pm I now live in a 2 bedroom serviced apartment, in an awesome area with access to outdoor and indoor pools. Thank you for posting. I hope you find something you love at a bargain price.
But that's unfair on Vietnamese people, to see an influx of brits hiking up prices in their lovely neighbourhoods. Brits shouldn't descend into Vietnam like pests, its unfair on the locals, unless you are Vietnamese.
It all depends tbh in London. I have a huge attic studio for £860. Tube & Tesco a 5min walk. High Street is mainly nice restaurants, well lit & safe at night. 25mins to central London.
Depressing part is a lot of people will pay these prices and us normal londoners have to out of desperation, honestly if you renting it's better to find a way to get out of london if you can. I'm currently paying £2k for a run down 3 bed in zone 4, literally we ended up taking it even though all the kitchen cabinents where broken and it was disgusting, needed a deep clean and a paint job before it was livable. I am really tying to leave london, the situation here is dire even as a "high earner" I can't afford it.
As someone from the South East, this makes me cry!! I have friends in 2/3 bedroom houses here who only spend 1k on their mortgage per month. If you have savings behind you Taz, you could look into buying long term. Obviously not for just 3 months though! 😅

To give you an idea my landlord paid 200k for a victorian townhouse that they split into two apartments. These days the same place would be about 650-750k.
South Ken is a VERY posh area, so 2K studio is adequate but not worth it imo. I would advise going further west, i reckon you can get something decent in hammersmith, chiswick or Kew for the same budget
Clapham is amazing. Especially Clapham Junction is so centralised to everything .. you can jump straight to Waterloo or Victoria. Don't snob the south.
Because it's in Liverpool not the capital. People pay to live in London because they prefer to live in London. Don't think they care about trading London for lower rent and more space. Plus the job market is better down there.
2 year ago, We paid £1900 for 2 bedroom flats in Putney (south London), when we moved out, the landlord increased the rent to £2300, and I can foresee that the rent would go up to £2600 next year, so high demand in London.
Good luck! This will be a demanding project but you have a good budget - you will be able to find a nice 1bedroom properties. I just moved to my beloved Southwark. I find in West properties are older and tiny but the neighborhood vibe is great.

But I'm in Leeds now, and the space looks a bit small compared to where you are now, but so far Clapham looks like the best flat. Have you looked at East London? Greenwich and Mudchute.
I live and rent in London, and I am still shocked by the prices of these places you're viewing. I feel lucky that the place we rent is much less than that, and it's still to me unbelievably expensive.
The absolute STATE of all of these with their rental prices is ridiculous! You can literally get a 3/4 possibly even 5 bed house fully renovated for £2.5k a month up north
You could move to Cambridgeshire and it would only be 40-50 mins via train direct to London. If you mainly work from home. Basically you don’t have to live IN London if you look around other closer counties.
my husband and I moved to London from the States last month for his work. our 1 bedroom w/ private garden flat near Ladbroke Grove is £2500/month... trying to navigate such a lightning fast market from a different country was so difficult. also needing the place to be cat friendly really limited our options. while our flat is definitely stretching our budget i'm happy that the place we arrived to is in beautiful condition and our landlords are super thoughtful. i always heard rent was crazy in London, and it definitely lived up to its reputation
This video comes out right exactly when I need to flat-hunt in Bali. My situation with Taz is insanely similar, but thank you so much for making the flat-hunting experience not so scary anymore! I'm looking forward to seeing your new flat!
Not sure you can rule out ‘south London’ when all you’ve looked at is Clapham South which is super overpriced because it’s ‘trendy’ and has the nice common. Try southeast London - much more affordable and very nice places in Greenwich/lewisham
Flat one - Dude needs to clean that toilet 🤢 Flat two - OK but the price. Flat 3 - looks like to front door has spit marks all down it - it looks like a homeless halfway house, carpet under the radiator looks wet, Flat 4 - outdoor space is what sells it. Flats 5, 6 + 7 - Rich student accommodation Flat 8 - looks lovely
You are in a great position Taz, please take advantage of it. I know it's boring but I really would suggest buying somewhere. Even if you end up regretting the place, you get your money back or could rent it out & use that money to rent somewhere else. I hope you don't but you could look back at all the money you put into rent and regret it for the future.
South East all the way! I always lived north of the river but moved south about 5 years ago and never looked back. Cheaper, more green spaces, more of a community feel with lots of stuff going on, lots of nice cafes, bars, restaurants (gentrified in lots of areas but not everywhere if you know where to look). Tbh people diss the transport but the Overground is basically as good as the tube - it's just a little less frequent so you may need to plan your journey a bit more, but it is also way more comfortable (with AC, less noisy, roomier so you basically always get on in rush hour). Plus, when there's a strike, you've got lots of train connections as well.

Taz, if you want to stay in London and can afford 2k-ish, I'd recommend looking for a mortgage (savings permitted) ... if you ever want to move you can rent it out and eventually have an investment. If an investment property sounds good, Croydon (South) and Leytonstone (East) are your best options.
Just move out of London, hastle is worth it. I pay 500 for a 2 bed house with a garden. For 2k up north you would have a 6 bedroom house with 2 garages.

Hackney girl here - I've been living here for nearly 10 years and LOVE the area. Those houses you mean are Georgian houses (build between 1720 and 1840) and look amazing but are suuuuper cold in winter.
@@RiddimKingdom it was shady 30 years ago. Hackney is a borough with BEAUTIFUL areas people travel to from afar. But don’t worry, house prices are like 500k for a one-bed-flat. No one is paying you to move here 🤣
I'm glad you said this. So my landlord keeps putting my rent up. They've owned this place for 25 years and insist they are barely covering the costs and/or they are 'subsidising' me, which I find highly unlikely unless they keep remortgaging to buy other properties, in which case I'm not that clued up on. @@x-starlight-x it depends on the type of mortgage they have - for some people mortgages have shot up over the last couple of years - though some landlords do put the rent up simply knowing they’ll be able to find someone willing to pay it if they out price their current tenants. Come to wembley park! Me and my misses are renting a 3 bedroom, 2 living room, conservatory, separate kitchen, massive garden, 3 car drive and 2 bathrooms for £2200 a month which is a bargain and there is a few houses round this area around that price bracket.

Have you looked at East London? Greenwich and Mudchute.
In Norfolk, you could get a4 bedroom house with a large garden for your price range 😳
But it's not London......
@quantumsystems9382 no place on the planet could have me justify 2000 a month on a 1 bedroom flat that's not even decorated to a high standard.
@@shelleytamara NY is worse
Taz you should do “a day in my life “ video I really like watching those types of videos!
14:01 this property is so beautiful. The energy is really lovely. You can tell the owner has good vibes 💚
At those prices i'd go back to Wales! Or look at tiny home/motor-homes!
Clapham Common its AMAZING! I used to live there, plenty of coffee shops around and good connection to city center. A bit expensive.
Watching Taz moving to new homes has been a journey for me🥺🤌🏻
I live and rent in London, and I am still shocked by the prices of these places you're viewing. I feel lucky that the place we rent is much less than that, and it's still to me unbelievably expensive.
Honestly this makes me love Manchester even more ❤ although our rental market is going in a similar directon as London which is ridiculous
The studio flats had the kitchen in the bedroom area - all the cooking smell will get onto your bedding :/
my husband and I moved to London from the States last month for his work. our 1 bedroom w/ private garden flat near Ladbroke Grove is £2500/month... trying to navigate such a lightning fast market from a different country was so difficult. also needing the place to be cat friendly really limited our options. while our flat is definitely stretching our budget i'm happy that the place we arrived to is in beautiful condition and our landlords are super thoughtful. i always heard rent was crazy in London, and it definitely lived up to its reputation
So happy you got a place Taz! I know prices in London right now are crazy and getting somewhere you like is a lottery
This video comes out right exactly when I need to flat-hunt in Bali. My situation with Taz is insanely similar, but thank you so much for making the flat-hunting experience not so scary anymore! I'm looking forward to seeing your new flat!
I live south of the river and I prefer it so much to the north! X
when u said electricity bills were included that flat was all i could think about lol
this is so anxiety inducing...im heavy breathing as im watching this. idk how she is so calm
Not sure you can rule out ‘south London’ when all you’ve looked at is Clapham South which is super overpriced because it’s ‘trendy’ and has the nice common. Try southeast London - much more affordable and very nice places in Greenwich/lewisham
Agree
I’d either be in South London or East London. Absolutely love those two areas. Like you showing walking around, it is what catches my eyes the most.
Omg you passed my house when you were in east london!! Definitely check out broadway market!
Flat one - Dude needs to clean that toilet 🤢
Flat two - OK but the price.
Flat 3 - looks like to front door has spit marks all down it - it looks like a homeless halfway house, carpet under the radiator looks wet,
Flat 4 - outdoor space is what sells it.
Flats 5, 6 + 7 - Rich student accommodation
Flat 8 - looks lovely
damn you could get such a nice place for that price outside of london, this is insane 😱😱😱😱
One off your best videos ever, so informative…👌🏻
Girl, come south of the river it is very cool in Canada Water / Bermondsey / Greenwich area!
Oh I love that first East End one! I think it's a cool area too
You are in a great position Taz, please take advantage of it. I know it's boring but I really would suggest buying somewhere. Even if you end up regretting the place, you get your money back or could rent it out & use that money to rent somewhere else. I hope you don't but you could look back at all the money you put into rent and regret it for the future.
£2700 for a 2-bed in archway...
it's a massive architect designed flat w a basement and fireplace over 3 floors but still OUCH.
West London seems gorgeous but OMG the prices!
i have been a sub for a long time now, and it's been some time i video of yours haven't popped out on my feed. Honestly i don't know what the algorithm did but it made me go back watch your recent videos.I manifest a Q and A video, so I can catch up with you and see what yo've been up to !!!
You'll probably like her vlog channel for more casual day to day stuff
Taz, if you want to stay in London and can afford 2k-ish, I'd recommend looking for a mortgage (savings permitted) ... if you ever want to move you can rent it out and eventually have an investment.
If an investment property sounds good, Croydon (South) and Leytonstone (East) are your best options.
that last place was GORGEOUS
Just move out of London, hastle is worth it. I pay 500 for a 2 bed house with a garden.
For 2k up north you would have a 6 bedroom house with 2 garages.
A brilliant and real vlogger!
Loved this video! So exciting watching someone else do what I'd like to do! 😅🎉❤
I’m shocked that the basement apartment was the nicest in the video, it kind of sad that these landlord couldn’t even clean the apartments or buildings before viewing .. I’m very shocked especially with those prices . I pay $1335 for a one bedroom downtown Indiana above a restaurant with great night life and a balcony so those prices for that quality is crazy
love the last one!
Hackney girl here - I've been living here for nearly 10 years and LOVE the area. Those houses you mean are Georgian houses (build between 1720 and 1840) and look amazing but are suuuuper cold in winter.
Hackney is shaaaaaaaaady yo. Couldn’t pay me to live there
@@RiddimKingdom it was shady 30 years ago. Hackney is a borough with BEAUTIFUL areas people travel to from afar.
But don’t worry, house prices are like 500k for a one-bed-flat. No one is paying you to move here 🤣
Those rents at three times my mortgage on a four bedroom house 😅😅 so lucky to be in the position to even consider that
I'm glad you said this. So my landlord keeps putting my rent up. They've owned this place for 25 years and insist they are barely covering the costs and/or they are 'subsidising' me, which I find highly unlikely unless they keep remortgaging to buy other properties, in which case I'm not that clued up on. It just infuriates me at how much they lie and how expensive it is
@@x-starlight-x it depends on the type of mortgage they have - for some people mortgages have shot up over the last couple of years - though some landlords do put the rent up simply knowing they’ll be able to find someone willing to pay it if they out price their current tenants. I assume you’re not on one of these “all inclusive” rents and still have council tax and utilities to pay yourself.
Come to wembley park! Me and my misses are renting a 3 bedroom, 2 living room, conservatory, separate kitchen, massive garden, 3 car drive and 2 bathrooms for £2200 a month which is a bargain and there is a few houses round this area around that price bracket.
It’s so funny you showed the Sainsbury and I was like op you gonna like it around here. I used to live here and it was so so amazing, the prices is the reason we moved tho but we still think of our life here as the best we had in London.
Your description with all the links
I live in a very affluent area of London and the prices are insane. I recently bought my first home - a one bed flat - and the prices up north, you get about 4x more for your money. Rent is even more ridiculous in the sense that a lot of mortgages would be less than the rent, even with the base rates still being so high! I wouldn't dream of leaving London though, I love it too much
1 come south, SE london is proper london
2 sarcastic voice over guy is back! so
3 we are blessed!
Richmond, putney near the river, Wimbledon are plenty cheaper than ones you have seen
The last one is so pretty I'm obsessed ❤
HOLY MOLY!!! 😮 N there’s me sat in my large 1 bed ground floor wheelchair accessible flat (it’s in a block of 12 flats) that I only pay just shy of £70 a wk for (I’m not far from London n it’s a pretty nice area) xxxxx
You are the first youtuber i started following and watched your videos
Look in Zone 3 and outwards for 1-bed flats that are less than £1.5k
Oh taz this is such a shame 😞 it honestly feels like you've just moved in to your flat. Sending you the best ❤ x
Edit : commented before watching whole video. So glad you've found somewhere that you like. I love u and your videos ❤️
At least, 2:53 that guy is saving water and has some environmental consciousness.
I’m pretty sure this is the water saving guy from that TLC!
That's how crazy London rental prices are now. Not long before I head out of the city I've called home for the last 17 years ;/
Omg I looooved the last one! Can’t wait to see what you actually got. Very curious!
This video has shocked me, you can get a 6 bed beach house by the sea in Scotland for that, its a disgrace
Or a mortgage on a 4 bed house with a large garden in a rural area in Angus with stunning views for 2k a month.
As a person living in Zürich, Switzerland, I actually didn't know there was a place as expensive to live in as Zürich. Crazy
South London is the connoisseur’s choice 🤌
Was horrified by the prices and quality of flats but then I saw the foxtons car and it all made sense...
I feel like you would’ve loved East Dulwich! Period homes, in south but very cute area with cafes, bars and lots of green!
The red rug and period features of the East London flat swung it for me. But, I'm glad I live up North and paying a quarter of the rent!
London prices scare me. The monthly rent is more than average wages.
I'm gonna miss your old house, but nice too see ypu got somewhere new
I am personally all about ✨️location✨️ I also just generally do not like to have a lot of stuff :p the studio would probably be my go to even though it is a bit much for what you get (then again it was all inclusive)
I loooove that east London first flat it’s so pretty and the area looks nice and green when you were heading to the viewing 🩵
I always LOVE your house hunting videos.
I'm leaving in the south of France and I'm flabbergasted by the price of this apartments, specially seeing how they actually look. I live in a pretty big 3 rooms apartment and I only pay what would be 338 pounds a month. But still, it's great to see the reality of London
Look at putney, southfields, earlsfield! Lovely areas but close to Central
Immediately, i felt east london for the win
I live in Denver USA. We pay about 2000 for a one bed and 2500+ for 2 bed. I have been wondering for so long what it was like in other countries. Thanks for this video. I guess we’re all having the same housing issues. So expensive :(
Just outside of London is cheaper and nicer! I'm halfway between London and Brighton so 30 mins to London Bridge and 30 mins to the coast, am also walking distance to the countryside. You can get a nice 2 bed house for £1600 a month where I am with a proper garden!!
We pay £1500 for a small 1 bedroom apt in Stockwell. Prices are crazy😞
I would think about moving near London at those prices... I live in Stevenage, and for the money you thinking paying, you can get a 3 bed house in here .. best of luck!
