Hello! Quite clear that you like the music of this legend. Thank you for this enjoyable video. Allthough I don't agree with your 7 for 'surf's up' (maybe because I'm dutch, but what is it about ?) or your 4 to 'piece of the action' (a moving song I think). All the best !
@roelanddirker6489 Surf's up is a Steinman written track originaly recorded at the bad for good album. Jim was a bit of a "dirty" guy and the song is (from what i heard hear and there) is what happens when a guy sees a hot girl or guy (depending on ones preferences) in his underwear.
Not sure if you're aware but while Bat Out of Hell is his debut album, it's actually his 4 album release. 1968-Popcorn Blizzard (one 2 sided vinyl). This was his first officially released album under the band name Popcorn Blizzard 1971-Stoney & Meatloaf After working on a production of Hair, he was approached by Motown to do a duet album 1973-75- Rocky Horror Picture Show Meatloaf began performing on Rocky Horror, which led to the film & soundtrack. 1976-Ted Nugent's Free for All After having a fallout with his regular singer, Meatloaf was asked to record the rest of the album. The original singer would later return to re-record the tracks Meatloaf recorded for a re-release 1977- Bat Out of Hell This is where his solo career officially started. After meeting Jim Steinman during one of his stage productions (More Than You Deserve) they began working on this album. My Ranking (I still haven't listened to all of Hang Cool Teddy Bear & Hell in a Handbasket, so those won't be included) 10) Blind Before I Stop Top 3 tracks -Execution Day -Getting Away with Murder -Standing on the Outside 9) Midnight at the Lost & Found Top 3 tracks -Razors Edge -Title Track -Don't You Look at Me Like That 8) Couldn't Have Said It Better Top 3 Tracks -Couldn't Have Said It Better -Man of Steel -Testify 7) Welcome to the Neighborhood Top 3 Tracks -I'd Lie for You (And That's the Truth) -Original Sin (Jim Steinman's Pandora's Box cover) -Not A Dry Eye in the House 6) Braver Then We Are Top 3 Tracks -Going All the Way -Who Needs the Young -Loving You is a Dirty Job (But Someone's Gotta Do It) (Bonnie Tyler cover) 5) Bad Attitude Top 3 Tracks -Nowhere Fast (Jim Steinman's Fire Inc alternate lyrics cover) -Piece of the Action -Sailor to a Siren 4) Dead Ringer Top 3 Tracks -Dead Ringer for Love -More Than You Deserve -I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back 3) Bat Out of Hell 3: The Monster is Loose Top 3 Tracks -It's All Coming Back to Me Now (featuring Marian Raven) (Jim Steinman's Pandora's Box cover) -Alive -Bad for Good (featuring Brian May) (Jim Steinman cover) 2) Bat Out of Hell -Paradise by the Dashboard Light (featuring Patti Russo) -Bat Out of Hell Heaven Can Wait 1) Bat Out of Hell 2: Back into Hell Top 3 Tracks -I'll Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) (featuring Ms Loud) -Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through (Jim Steinman/Rory Dodd cover) -Objects in the Rearview Mirror (May Appear Closer Than They Are As for the other Meatloaf stuff Very Best of Meatloaf Top 3 Tracks (Exclusive to this release) -A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste (featuring Bonnie Tyler) -Is Nothing Sacred -Home by Now/No Matter What Definitely check out his pre-solo career he manages to try out different singing ranges & does great from the Beatles/Flower power sound of Popcorn Blizzard to Zeppelin sound of Ted Nugent's album & his R&B album with Stoney. There's also Kickapoo by Tenacious D featuring Meatloaf & Dio
Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I am familiar with Meatloaf's earlier stuff but for the video, I just concentrated on albums released under the name "Meatloaf". Our lists are similar and we both chose Bat Out Of Hell 2 as our top album. The 1981 Jim Steinman release "Bad For Good" had a lot of tracks that would go on to make it on Bat 2. His version of "Out Of The Frying Pan" is top notch!
@@ThatVinylChannel Bat Out of Hell 2 is the first Meatloaf album I listened to. My father would listen to the original album and I heard some tracks but BOOH2 was the album that got me into Meatloaf and Jim Steinman. I only recently discovered how many covers Meatloaf performed that are considered classics by him. Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through is a cover I love but the more melodic sound of the original was really good too. Funny enough I was completing my Meatloaf collection when the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath box set came out and I was sidetracked & I finally managed to get the Pandora's Box album Original Sin. On Steinman's solo album Stark Raving Love is a great exclusive track. It's hard sometimes to not sing Holding Out for a Hero when the melody is the exact same but it goes to show how masterful Steinman was with repurposing tracks for various projects. The soundtrack for Streets of Fire is great too with Fire Inc, the precursor for Pandora's Box formation. I'll probably go on to get Hang Cool Teddy Bear next and try to complete my Steinman collection with Bonnie Tyler's albums with him and others before getting Hell in a Handbasket and of course those other stuff I mentioned. Have you heard Bat Out of Hell The Musical? It's a terrific album that both Steinman and Meatloaf produced with many classics. I wish we would've gotten Meatloaf singing What Part of My Body Hurts the Most maybe singing with Patti Russo or Ellen Foley.
@@moviereviews4life I heard of the musical but I never listened to the album. Now I am planning on picking it up on CD. Thanx for reminding me about it.
@@ThatVinylChannel no problem, make sure to listen in order as it does tell a great story. I tend to listen to albums the first time in order and then I'll have it on shuffle after I've become familiar with it enough
@@moviereviews4life Oh yeah, that is the only way to listen to Meatloaf albums. Have you ever picked up the Meatloaf Live Around The World album? I think it's his best live album ever produces and sold.
@@ThatVinylChannel Well maybe not officially but the guy sings on it, so for me it is but i guess i probably be the only who thinks like that. Anyway i like the video, great job.

Nice Video, i see all ranking vids talk about 12 albums but shouldn't Stoney and Meatloaf also be on the list?
Stoney & Meatloaf is not really a Meatloaf album. Just albums under the name "Meatloaf".

@@rebusdan Thank you!
Interesting choices.
For me Bat 1, Dead Ringer, Bat 2. The rest are crap.
It's meat loaf and not meatloaf.
