I would guess if there were some way to sort students into different houses, I would say that there is a magical flower stem placed in the center of a room. Upon touching the stem, the type of flower it turned into would determine where the student would be placed. That's how I would want it be.
What if the students wanted to join a particular house/group?? Can they choose just like in Hogwarts?? Where they can tell the Sorting Hat which house they want to join.
Beauxbatons headcanons from a french person : - There is no houses at Beauxbatons, there never was such thing in France. The students are separated by years and classes, and origins for those who aren't french. There is like 25-30 children by classes. The students from the same class shares their schedule the whole year. The classes change every year. There is many teachers that teach the same subjects. Every classes are taught by the same teachers the whole year. - I also believe that there is muggle subjects taught at Beauxbatons, such as French (mainly for the foreigners), Maths (obligatory the 4 first years, facultative the 3 next), History & Geography, English and langue vivante n.2 where you have to choose between Spanish and German, and then langue vivante n.3 (facultative) where you can choose to learn Italian, Russian, Arabic, or Mandarin. You can also ask to take Latin or Ancient Greek classes. There is also many extracurricular activities proposed to the students, like muggle sports, gardening, knitting, dancing, singing, learning to play an instrument, art classes, or class patrimoine, where the teachers take the students all over the country to visit museums and monuments (you have to ask permission from the parents for that class) & others.
The point was to create an atmosphere of rivalry in the film: beauxbatons girls were more elegant and attractive. Durmstrang boys were athletic and military. Hogwarts girls were intimidated by the French girls and the boys were also intimidated by the Scandinavian boys.
@@arasanm.96 Cause even in the book Beauxbaton students are used finery and luxurious living, while Durmstrang students are shown to be coming from a very harsh environment. Which made it easier for producers to make the two schools same sex schools. Even the uniforms: beauxbaton students wore pale blue silk robes in the books.

I’m from the Pyrénées and the part where students only wear light clothes and can’t stand the cold is absurd 🤣 Pyrénées are mountains, with all the cold/snow package (at least the french side idk about the spanish side which face south)
@@Ambigious She's only saying weather depicted is not accurate. Pyrénées are cold, as moutains tend to be, so uniform is actually wrong for the climate; she's also saying this means people living in the region are actually great at standing cold weather.
Fer Morfín As someone who is from northern Sweden and visited the pyrenees, ill tell you that pyranees people are comparably bad at handling the cold. To say that the general public in the pyrenees can handle the cold with that kind of clothes - is just not true.
@@Ambigious I'm just saying it's absurd they wouldn't have really warm clothes, they need it every winter, they aren't from Provence (it's not a "who can stand the cold wearing a skirt" contest ^^ ). But maybe it's less absurd than this debate...
Obviously, the Southern Side is as Cold as the North side of the Pyrenees.... Spain other than the south and mediterranean can be a very cold country, contrary to popular believe, we have tonns of snow and cold wet weather all over the north and center of Spain. The Pyrenees as you said, are mountains so either side is gonna be the same, snowy and cold!
I think the reason why Newell made Beauxbatons into a girls school is pretty self explanatory, in the books the only boys mentioned were the ones who asked Parvati and her sister to dance. Vice versa for Durmstang boys were emphasized more than the girls. Since Newell claimed he didn't read the book, these details would naturally be lost to him, honestly they might be lost to someone who read the book as well. edit 4:20 LOL I think muggle Frenchmen would still be pretty suspicious or freaked to see a headless corpse walking around.
Do a “What if Snape survived” video?! Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how Harry and Snape got on after the battle after learning Snapes true allegiance
No I think they are a strict democracy, monarchy was not a thing in the wizarding Britain. I don't think they care. Remember religious heads and extreme piousness is also missing in the wizarding world. No mention of Sunday church or etc. I think they're not even that religious. They just celebrate the major Christian festivals
@@nikkiparson7113 Actually that is logical. As a Christian I've always disagreed with the thought that established pagan had to be usurped in order to make them 'religious' so that the 'common people' could relate to them. The whole point of the Hebrew nation was to be different so I don't agree with the decisions that were made. Well, that was before my time and above my pay grade so....Happy Christmas anyway everyone! 🎄🎁
I like to imagine that Benjamin Franklin was secretly a founding father of MACUSA and that he attended Beauxbatons as a boy - which explains why he always got along so well with the French. Between the ages of 12 and 15 he supposedly moved from Boston to Philadelphia to apprentice at his uncle's printshop, but maybe that was just a ruse to cover his voyage to France.
I am from a country that sends their students to Beaubatons and I WAS in that castle when I was around 8 or 9 years old. Why. did. they. not. send. me. my. letter. :-(
Beauxbatons lovers, can you help me?💜 I'm writing a meditation set in Beauxbatons during Christmas. The only things that we get to know from the books is that, in the Dining Chamber, Wood Nymphs serenades the students while they eat and the hall is adorned with great, glittering, non-melting ice sculptures. Plus, there's a magnificent fountain in the middle of the school’s park, believed to have healing and beautifying properties, named after Flamel and Peronelle. I imagine Beauxbatons during Christmas like a mesmerizing winter wonderland. My questions for you are: - what spells/type of magic do you associate with Beauxbatons? 🔮 - what do you think the Dining Chambers looks like? - what can you see in the gardens? Animals/flowers/colors? 🦋 - what do students eat/drink for Christmas? - anything else you imagine/associated with "Christmas at Beauxbatons" TIA💜 I have the whole story in mind but I'd love to know what fellow fans imagine about it, since we know so little from the official books!
Drinks : Champagne, hot chocolate, coffee, wine (white for fish and foie gras, red for meat and cheese) and digestives with a ball of icecream after the meal. I don't know about students drinking alcoolic beverages, but teachers would definitely unwind a bit this night.
one thing I like to imagine Beauxbatons having is a open air potions class or at least a potions class that isn’t a dungeon. it would consist of large french doors that would open out to a secluded courtyard where the class set up their cauldrons when they were brewing potions with more putrid smells. in winter I like to see the students learn recipes that require being brewed in cold temperatures or have winter vegetation as ingredients. The teacher would be able to cast spells to change the classroom’s configuration, such as moving the cauldrons and desks between the indoor and outdoor areas. there’s a storage room for ingredients under the class in the style of a french wine cellar. so that’s my idea for Beauxbatons potions class room.
@@-i1007 Thank you so much, this is so creative! 😍 Your writing is so vivid that it made me imagine being there for a minute. I like the idea of winter potions and the french wine cellar for storing ingredients 💜
To be honest J.K. Rowling kind of messed up with Beauxbâtons, like a lot... To summarize that comment (because it's ridiculously lengthy though not the worst I've done) : the castle = stupid ; the clothes = stupid ; the exams = stupid ; and there would be no Houses or Prefects in Beauxbâtons. Why? My thoughts are under the cut if you feel like it. 1. The kind of castle she describes in the books is typical of a Renaissance castle of the North/Center of France, nothing to do with a 13th century or older castle from the South of France, like at all... 2. The lack of warm clothing of the students is ridiculous for two reason : the first is that if Beauxbâtons is in the Pyrénées, well it's the mountains, it's freezing cold in winter, how the hell would they survive? And the second reason is even if by some miracle there's I don't know, spells to counter the cold on the castle's grounds, no french person (except maybe in the north but they're already living in the cold and the rain, so...) would plan to go to Scotland and not bring enough warm clothes to survive in Siberia. We kinda all think of Scotland as this reaaally cold place, even if sometimes it's not. 3. The thing about having the french equivalent of the OWLS in the sixth year instead of the fifth is really weird, because in France we have a really important exam but in the fourth year, to me it sounds like someone told Rowling that and she misunderstood, like someone told her it was a year before (fifth year) and she understood a year before 7th year, I don't know... That's all I can think of right now about what J.K. Rowling messed up... But about the thing you said, about the houses, I think it would be good to remember that house system in schools is a very english thing to do, as is putting students against students for a reward and even the concept of prefects, it's just giving one student punishment and reward rights over other students just because they are deemed "better" than the others, it's dumb and we don't do that in France. Instead, the prefect position would be given to adults, not a part of the teacher body, though we do have students that are elected (by other students based on how trustworthy they are) but only to represent them in front of the teachers and staff, not give punishments. Yeah, there wouldn't be houses or prefects in Beauxbâtons, sorry to disappoint. Anyway, sorry if I wrote things that didn't make any sense or if I spelled things wrong, it's 3 am and I'm french, isn't there like a consensus about how french people are bad at english anyway? I should probably stop writing there because this whole subject has been pissing me off since I read that book what feels like an eternity ago, and I fear I'm only becoming more sarcastic and condescending as the night goes on. Sorry about that I guess...
You did make some very good points though. Especially about the clothing issue. Wouldn't have been nice to also see what kind of beautiful warm clothing that they would wear? When I found out that both schools were co-ed I simply thought that in the competitions that the schools would have had to see who would qualify to go that the Boy's team won at Durmstrang and the Girl's team won at Beauxbatons. Perhaps that is too simplistic?
About the prefect thing they don’t give punishments as far as i know, they just keep the peace in the common rooms and such things only the teachers give punishments
@@tasatort9778 Of course not. None of them are really elements. There are over 100 elements in the periodic table. Assuming, however, we are talking about the metaphysical and mystical, there are 4 elements originating with the Greek philosophers in Western Philosophy. Another (spirit or "aether") was added later. Regardless, J.K. Rowling has confirmed her intention with the elements of the four houses as I listed them above. Some parts of the world even include a 6th element, such as in Indian tradition.
I checked with the goblet of fire - you're right! (It's been a while since I've read the books) "Harry, whose attention had been focused completely upon Madame Maxime, now noticed that about a dozen *boys* and girls, all, by the look of them, in their late teens, had emerged from the carriage and were now standing behind Madame Maxime." I have an idea for their sorting There are 7 test tubes, each has a color of liquid, if a house wants the student, a little droplet of liquid will fall magically, if 2 or more droplets fallen, a portrait of the founders of beauxbattons will be presented and they will pick, but this time the first one to say "I want her/him" gets the student into their house
I feel like beaxbatons would have a giant butterfly and students would sit in it and what ever colour the wings turned would corrospond to the house Just a thought
As a dutchie I would attend Beauxbatons. The more I read and learn about this school the more I love it. I’m not as sad anymore that I can’t attend Hogward as a non-British/Irish student.
The castles use as an illustration for beauxbaton is called Chambord and it's so big that the french king that commanded it died before it was finished, the architect of the castle remains unknown to this day some may say it's DaVinci himself who created the castle plan mainly because he designed a massive double staircase in the castle
The process for sorting beauxbatons students would be that as they first arrive they would be wearing a light blue ring (like the uniform) that when they would be called up to be sorted the ring would shoot a glow in the colour of the house they belong to. The houses would be l’eau (water) blue, feu (fire) orange and vent (wind) white, all of which are elementals. After they were sorted there ring would show a moving gem in it of the colour of their house.
I believe that there is another wizarding school in America that was founded by two Beauxbatons graduates that were a married couple who brought Beauxbatons' education system to the Southeastern United States, based in Louisiana and calling this school the "American" Beauxbatons. The school was founded by Demetrius Devereaux, a half-blood wizard (1685-1801) and his wife Caroline Thibideaux, a quarter-Veela witch (1689-1815) in 1718, calling it Devereaux's School for Magical Youngsters (Fr. École de Devereaux Magique les Jeunes), located deep within the bayou of New Orleans. Devereaux's appears as a somewhat splitting image of Château de Chambord with a touch of French architectural styles of Renaissance, Châteauesque, and French Colonial, but smaller than the original château and large enough to be a university campus. Devereaux's teaches Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts (including Hoodoo and Voodoo), Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration for it's core classes. And for electives, Alchemy, Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Muggle Studies (called "Mundaneology" in America), Ancient Runes, and Technomancy (a branch of alchemy).
Yeah, diffrent word's for the same thing. Holidays like that where just adopted and changed so that people would change religion with less resistance. Other ways where making gods for other religions saints.
3:03 I think it was for simplicity, to easily differentiate (at least that’s what I heard) but I feel like the uniforms would have made it clear anyway
It would be cool if every new student was given a hat upon entry. Everyone starts with a black hat that changes colors based on their year and or abilities. Black>red>gold>blue etc.
I think if made sorting process it would be kinda fairy tale like. When students enter I asked them dreams and perhaps have magical device like the sorting hat to help see what is inside there mind and heart. "Do you dream of valor and adventures of all sorts then come dear Knights to your court. " "Do you dream of discovery and to create things this world has yet to see. Then within a Scholar's court you may be." " Do you dream high society and riches that shine. Then it is the Royal's court that should come to mind." " Do you wish to bring a smiles to many faces, perhaps with love, flora, fauna or food then the Sage's court should suit your mood." I would love fairy tale romantisim kinda theme for the school. The houses would be called courts and called Knight, Scholar, Royal, and Sage.
I love the feel of this school, it would’ve been so cool if they gave us more of an insight into the Beauxbatons though! Especially with Fleur eventually getting together with Bill.
I would sort them in second year so they can express them self and know they are in the right house and the way would be by their marks and the best of there trates so no one is favoured by a teacher
If Anyone was wondering the stairs you at 6:30 is a special stair in the Castle of Chambord. I visited it and the guide said it was probably created by Leonardo Da Vinci. It is a stair that looks exactly like the DNA gene forms ( you know crossing each other). And all the pictures are the outside or the inside if Chambord voilà 😁
Honestly, I felt like they were insulting our intelligence... like it was necessary to make one all girls and one all boys so we could distinguish them. Why would that make any sense in the first place? Where the fuck were French wizards and Bulgarian witches supposed to go to school????
Considering how in touch the French are with art and the consept perfecting ones soul, I believe Beauxbatons, would have factions depending on a student's potential, magical skills, and abilities. They would probably have something similar to a sorting hat, but a different object, like a cup that changes colour when a student drinks from it and each colour would correspond to a different faction. Each faction would be dedicated to push a wizard or witch to reach their predicted potential, there is no true hopeless student, everyone is fitted for something. This means that there isn't a four house system but a more unified one. There is no animosity between the factions like there is in Hogwarts, as it's not something to do with their character or old grudges or one faction endorsing wizard bigotry (c'mon you know it's true about Slytherin). It's not all fun and games mind you, this system isn't perfect, as it supports that a person is ment for something in their life since they are children and there is no room for flexibility, discouraging students from practising something they'll probably like more in their life; for example if the sorting cup finds that your abilities suit you more for studying and working with magical creatures yet you find out in the future you like wand creation more, Beauxbatons will disaprove of you "wasting" your time with something the cup found not to be suitting for your magical abilities.
My idea for the Sorting test was based on the school's apparent affinity for equestrian magical creatures. The emblems of the four Houses of Beauxbatons would be an Abaraxas (called Pegasus to give it a bit of romantic flare), a Unicorn, a Hippogriff, and a Hippocampus. On their first day, students would present themselves to each of these beasts in turn. Whichever seemed to like you best, that would be your House at Beauxbatons.

I would guess if there were some way to sort students into different houses, I would say that there is a magical flower stem placed in the center of a room. Upon touching the stem, the type of flower it turned into would determine where the student would be placed. That's how I would want it be.
Cool idea.. So magical
What if the students wanted to join a particular house/group?? Can they choose just like in Hogwarts?? Where they can tell the Sorting Hat which house they want to join.
@@nirvanalama8493 I like to think the the magical stem would react to the kind of aura you give off.
Something like that was in Tinkerbell. They sorted fairies based on which mushroom will glow when they touch it.
Beauxbatons headcanons from a french person :
- There is no houses at Beauxbatons, there never was such thing in France.
Quote of the year "carriages are, well carriages."
The point was to create an atmosphere of rivalry in the film: beauxbatons girls were more elegant and attractive. Durmstrang boys were athletic and military. Hogwarts girls were intimidated by the French girls and the boys were also intimidated by the Scandinavian boys.
That can easily still be the case if the elegant and attractive team had boys, and the athletic and military team had girls
@@arasanm.96 Yea but the reality is somethings are associated with women, while other elements are associated with men.
The Boys come from Bulgaria not Scandinavia...
@@Alejojojo6 no, Victor Krum is from Bulgaria, the school is somewhere North: either Norway or Sweden, JK Rowling has never confirmed its actual location . It accepts students from all across Europe

I’m from the Pyrénées and the part where students only wear light clothes and can’t stand the cold is absurd 🤣
Pyrénées are mountains, with all the cold/snow package (at least the french side idk about the spanish side which face south)
Anais Montoya
What are you even trying to say?
Why is it absurd that they cant stand the cold in like a skirt?
@@Ambigious She's only saying weather depicted is not accurate. Pyrénées are cold, as moutains tend to be, so uniform is actually wrong for the climate; she's also saying this means people living in the region are actually great at standing cold weather.
Fer Morfín
As someone who is from northern Sweden and visited the pyrenees, ill tell you that pyranees people are comparably bad at handling the cold.
How I wished they showed Beauxbatons in "the Crimes of Grindelwald"

Beauxbatons is so beautiful and elegant 😍
Something I've been wondering. Does the British Wizarding community recognize the royal family.
I'm sure people like the Malfoys don't care if the royals are muggles
No I think they are a strict democracy, monarchy was not a thing in the wizarding Britain. I don't think they care. Remember religious heads and extreme piousness is also missing in the wizarding world. No mention of Sunday church or etc. I think they're not even that religious. They just celebrate the major Christian festivals
@@ahelibiswas3164 Probably because 'major Christian festivals' are of pagan origin; so "magical" origin. ;)
@@nikkiparson7113 Actually that is logical. As a Christian I've always disagreed with the thought that established pagan had to be usurped in order to make them 'religious' so that the 'common people' could relate to them. I like to imagine that Benjamin Franklin was secretly a founding father of MACUSA and that he attended Beauxbatons as a boy - which explains why he always got along so well with the French. Beauxbatons lovers, can you help me?💜
I'm writing a meditation set in Beauxbatons during Christmas.
My questions for you are:
- what spells/type of magic do you associate with Beauxbatons? 🔮
- what do you think the Dining Chambers looks like?
- what can you see in the gardens? Animals/flowers/colors? 🦋
- what do students eat/drink for Christmas?
- anything else you imagine/associated with "Christmas at Beauxbatons"
TIA💜
I have the whole story in mind but I'd love to know what fellow fans imagine about it, since we know so little from the official books!
Drinks : Champagne, hot chocolate, coffee, wine (white for fish and foie gras, red for meat and cheese) and digestives with a ball of icecream after the meal. I don't know about students drinking alcoolic beverages, but teachers would definitely unwind a bit this night.
@@tristanboulet8901 thanks Tristan! Love your suggestions💜
one thing I like to imagine Beauxbatons having is a open air potions class or at least a potions class that isn’t a dungeon. it would consist of large french doors that would open out to a secluded courtyard where the class set up their cauldrons when they were brewing potions with more putrid smells. in winter I like to see the students learn recipes that require being brewed in cold temperatures or have winter vegetation as ingredients.
Your writing is so vivid that it made me imagine being there for a minute.
I would sort the students according to their elemental affinity (Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Spirit).
The Hogwarts houses have elemental connections. Slytherin is Water, Gryffindor Fire, Hufflepuff Earth and Ravenclaw is Wind.
@@nickskuza6036 that isn't all the elements.
I would be fire😂
We are all water
I want a book series on someone that went to that school
How about Grindelwald? He was in the fantastic beasts series which was basically hogwarts before Harry Potter.

I have an idea for their sorting
There are 7 test tubes, each has a color of liquid, if a house wants the student, a little droplet of liquid will fall magically, if 2 or more droplets fallen, a portrait of the founders of beauxbattons will be presented and they will pick, but this time the first one to say "I want her/him" gets the student into their house
The school that most Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff have than in Hogwarts
I said the same shit most all my ravenclaw friends including my self picked beauxbatons rather than hogwarts

The castles use as an illustration for beauxbaton is called Chambord and it's so big that the french king that commanded it died before it was finished, the architect of the castle remains unknown to this day some may say it's DaVinci himself who created the castle plan mainly because he designed a massive double staircase in the castle
Man, you are uploading a lot lately! I almost can't keep up.
I think the movie figured Hogwarts is unisex so have one boy school and one girl school. So there goes the alteration
Genuine question:
Looking at nuclear weapons does the Wizarding World have a means to stop the radiation?
I think one of Gamp's laws of magic prohibit this
I believe that there is another wizarding school in America that was founded by two Beauxbatons graduates that were a married couple who brought Beauxbatons' education system to the Southeastern United States, based in Louisiana and calling this school the "American" Beauxbatons.
I wonder why Wizards celebrate Christmas and not something like Saturnalia?

Yeah, diffrent word's for the same thing. Holidays like that where just adopted and changed so that people would change religion with less resistance. Other ways where making gods for other religions saints.
Jesus was clearly a wizard known to the muggle world; only reason for jk to have them celebrate Christmas and not the Celtic holiday.
Such valuable information! After all these years!!

Fantastic video, very interesting subject and really well discussed. Nicely done!
People in the Potter World honestly didn’t know Madame Maxine was 1/2 giant? I thought she was 100% giant
if she was 100% she would be fugly as hell, just as Hagrids brother (no offense but Hagrid looks ok) and this lady looks very well.
Finally! A video about Beaxbaton!
I would like to see a movies made about the other two prominent schools. I think they would be interesting and perhaps to see.
Hey love the videos keep going it makes my day when I watch your videos
Unlike Hogwarts they are sorted in their second year
Thanks for sharing and i haven´t seen anyone make a video about Beauxbatons before so i like this one.

They probably thought to make it seem that Beauxbatons was an all girls school for the same reason they made Durmstrang into an all boys school
Honestly, I felt like they were insulting our intelligence... like it was necessary to make one all girls and one all boys so we could distinguish them.
Why would that make any sense in the first place? Where the fuck were French wizards and Bulgarian witches supposed to go to school????
Stupidity.
It does makes sense , beauxbatons sounds female and durmstrang sounds masculine

You can visit the castle, it's Château de Chambord, along the Loire river valley. Beautiful place. Love from France!
I love that French hogwart and maybe Québécois and French canadians witches and wizards go there for french magics and French lessons
Felicia Aubin-Francis I feel they would go to Ilvermorny cause it’s less far, but yes that would make sense
Yes I did , it was awesome and interesting. Great job.
Fun fact, Rowling didn't invent Flamel, apparently he's a real life figure I hear.
Indeed he was. Or is...?
Yes, was also a part of the actual Illuminati
Most of them are real life figures^^
He studied alchemy and apparently discovered the sorcerers stone which is the elixir of life and turns any item it touches into gold.
Just imagine if the school was your house. Imagine how many times you would get lost
Where do you get all the information? I don't remember any of it in the Harry Potter books. And, I enjoy your videos. Great work
Have you done one on any of the other schools like the one In japan?
My idea for the Sorting test was based on the school's apparent affinity for equestrian magical creatures. The emblems of the four Houses of Beauxbatons would be an Abaraxas (called Pegasus to give it a bit of romantic flare), a Unicorn, a Hippogriff, and a Hippocampus. On their first day, students would present themselves to each of these beasts in turn. Whichever seemed to like you best, that would be your House at Beauxbatons.
Uh... oh huh
I'll sort them based on their magic skills, magic ability, and their actions of how, and why they use their magic.
How this is an episode and a really awesome episode at that well done my friend
Is Jesus a wizard? Like He was celebrated as like a saint or something like muggles do? Or are saints wizards?
Great video of Chateau de Chambord with your narration.
For how they are sorted I'd say maybe like a leaf of the house color they'll be in or a owl popping up by like a flag or something of one house
Even though I’d prefer to comment about the video itself, I urge that you get some rest Dean. You uploaded at 2 in the morning and I think that you should wait until daytime so that you can properly sleep
