Being an American, and coming from a European tradition that valued independence, bowing the knee to no one, I find that such artifices as class, house divisions, caste systems, etc. are detrimental to moral and ethical development and maturity. The system of dividing the wizarding world into castes of Pure Blood, Half-blood, Muggle born, and Goblin was its greatest weakness and tragedy.
@@Shan_Dalamani Technically, you are correct in that Goblins are apparently a separate species. My assertion is that they are a segregated, disenfranchised, underclass of magical beings. The case _might_ be made that they are a different species of human, like Neanderthal, and therefore ought to have the same legal and social status as wizards.
I believe the director wanted to have Beauxbaton school to be all females while having Durmstrang school to be all male. This allows the director to show Hogwarts to be the coed school compared to the other two.

How I think Students would be sorted at Beauxbaton. The students would one by one approach a burning lamp, with four doors behind it. Next to the lamp on a high table would be a quill and parchment. Written on the parchment would be a single question. "What is your deepest desire." After the student writes their answers the would then burn the parchment in the lamp and a key would appear on the table. The door that the key opens would glow brightly and the student would enter through to the Great hall right behind their house table to be met with thunderous applause. I think the Beauxbaton great hall's walls and ceilings are made complete of glass giving it a very open and light appearance.
Beauty, Poise, Etiquette and Flamboyance are the houses I would divide Beauxbatons into. Each house would be symbolized by a rose. The symbols are based on real world meanings behind colored roses. Beauty - light blue rose; Poise - light pink rose; Etiquette - white rose and Flamboyance - orange rose. Students are presented with a seed and a small gold cauldron adorned with the schools crest. The students are instructed to bring their cauldron up during the sorting ceremony. It sits atop a gold pedestal. A teacher lifts a water pitcher and pours a strange liquid into the cauldron. The students then places the seed in the caldron and it grows immediately and blooms into the color corresponding to their house. Afterwards the rose and the liquid turns to a beautiful show before disappearing. The cauldrons are kept by the students as a keepsake and is an actual tool they can use for homework.
There might be somewhat of a problem with your (nice!) idea because of history: The symbolism of a rose has changed across time. In the medieval period, a rose symbolized "secret". You can see that in castles, etc. which date from that time: Roses were often engraved above the doors that led to a ruler's council chamber. And in a time when most people were illiterate, the use of symbols was highly regulated (just like the colors people were allowed to wear which had to reflect their place in society). So I assume that it is at least unlikely that roses were initially used as symbols when the school was founded. It'd also (at that time) in a way contradict what school is about: Not to keep secrets but to unlock them.
According to a story I once read, in medieval times courtesans would decorate themselves with red roses when having their period to anounce they were not available that particular night or day. Wether that story is true or not I dont know.
I know JK Rowling has said it herself that she isn’t an expert on history (leading to either unexplained mysteries or possible plot holes) but something I’ve always wondered is: If the magical language is based off Latin (and Greek) were there more wizards? More magic? Did the Romans know or care? Did they learn it from Germanic tribes? The Wizarding world has a large history with soooo much mystery throughout:)
@@homanism6438 That would make sense. The English, Germans and USA cast spells in Latin when Slavs cast spells in some Slavic language maybe Old Church Slavonic coz that one is very old
@@karolinakuc4783 why dont hogwarts used Gaelic spell? i've a theory that the founders of Hogwarts were Druids, one of them was Salazar Slytherin. Since the most popular version of Cinderella is French it can be safe to assume glamor charms are taught there. For a sorting process which is far too divisive I think the sorting my respective nationalities could work but a showcase of what their affinity is by year three would be ideal.
Beauxbatons lovers, can you help me?💜 I'm writing a meditation set in Beauxbatons during Christmas. The only things that we get to know from the books is that, in the Dining Chamber, Wood Nymphs serenades the students while they eat and the hall is adorned with great, glittering, non-melting ice sculptures. Plus, there's a magnificent fountain in the middle of the school’s park, believed to have healing and beautifying properties, named after Flamel and Peronelle. I imagine Beauxbatons during Christmas like a mesmerizing winter wonderland. My questions for you are: - what spells/type of magic do you associate with Beauxbatons? 🔮 - what do you think the Dining Chambers looks like? - what can you see in the gardens? Animals/flowers/colors? 🦋 - what do students eat/drink for Christmas? - anything else you imagine/associated with "Christmas at Beauxbatons" TIA💜 I have the whole story in mind but I'd love to know what fellow fans imagine about it, since we know so little from the official books.
I would be a beauxbatons student. Sorted into the Ombrelune house. We value intelligence and pride. (Kinda like a slytherin, ravenclaw mix) Eventually I'd assume I'd go for a job as a professor for Alchemy. To me I associate complex charms or enchantments to be mostly associated Beauxbatons Academy. Stuff like magically enchanted Jewelry or clothing. I always imagined them similar to hogwarts in shape, but water fountains to the left and right of the wall. Large Open windows letting in the breeze and magical birds. The nymphs playing there song to the sound of the flowing water. The interior to be white marble accented in gold ornate French design. In the gardens I'd imagine the horses rest, rare mountain flowers, large trees and hedges, and of course the fountain. I don't know about them but I'd have French style tarts with oolong tea. Personally a favorite of mine currently. It's not necessarily for Christmas tho. My food style won't change for holidays. I honestly didn't imagine holidays too much there. I'd imagine a lot more specific plants around the castle. Plants like Garland, mistletoe, Holly, ivy, and others decorated in pure silver to match the ice sculptures.
@@leonlacroix2638 Hi Leon, thank you so much for your detailed answer! I've always imagined enchanted jewelries, white marbles and magical birds, too! with the rich back story of Beauxbatons, Durmstrang and the other schools, wouldn't it be great of Rowling would allow the HP World get the same treatment that Star Wars and Star Trek got in the way of allowing other authors and fans of HP write other stories in the HP World....maybe not stories of the "Golden Trio"....but there is so much in the HP World that so many novel lines can be written and NEVER once mention the "Golden Trio"....Fantastic Beasts have proven this.
That's what fanfiction is for. I'm currently reading some very long stories (well past novel length, at over 175 chapters). There are some fantastic stories set in the Marauders' era, as well as some creative ways of resurrecting Sirius (or ensuring he doesn't die in the first place).
I think this castle has been built quite later than in the 1200’s. It is one of the biggest Renaissance Castle in the valley of the Loire where a stunning number of castles of this style can be visited, and might be actually called the Chateau de Chambord. I am French and have visited it several times, just for the enjoyment of its beauty and the lushness of its grounds. It is very refined, has an abundance of architectural details and therefore is a perfect choice for the stylish school of BeauBatons!
6:53 perhaps because in England, GCSE are taken in year 11, but for Hogwarts, she put them in year five as they are similar to owls so for the French school, she probably decided that she’ll follow the actual UK curriculum and give them in year 6
To answer questions about language and Beauxbâton, I think the courses are taught in French, but that is probably not a problem for pure bloods and half blood wizards ; French has been a lingua franca and the language of knowledge similarly as Latin, and with seemingly no other school than Hogwarts, Beauxbâton and Durmstrung in Western and Central Europe, there is a good bet that English French and German are the dominating languages in wizarding community.
I honestly think german muggleborns would attend Beauxbatons, since Durmstrang wouldn't accept anything "below" halfblood. That is of course, if there isn't a german school
Why didn’t you look it up Beauxbatons has a unique sorting method. In order to be sorted, you must shoot a silver arrow across the room. The students that are members of this house are lovers of nature with a strong sense of bravery and loyalty to all they hold dear to them.
Segregating kids into social bubbles based on their predominant values is such a fucking brilliant idea :D No sorting at all, like in normal schools, let the kids interact in normal classes created at random... some of the problems in HP world, in Brittain at least are caused by this stupid concept...
I think a sorting ceremony where the students are separated into 4 different groups sort of like old Roman Legions each one has the same number of people but it is basically divided by family history and prestige. The more well known your family is and with perhaps additional letters from other honorable people in the world you can get into the better group. Also beyond that I think they have competitions between the 4 groups perhaps safe duels of sorts between them. At least that's what I think because their crest is 2 wands crossing each other makes me think of duels and how traditional minded and respectful to their headmistress makes me think these things. Like in the book they stayed standing until Madam Maxine sat down herself.
I think that in Beauxbatons the drawing of houses, which there should be either 2 or 3, something should be done with mirrors. Beauxbatons reminds me a lot, from the little description there is, of a palace inside, identical to Versailles, so there should be a corridor with mirrors on the walls - as there is in Versailles, where the first year student walks and the mirror reflects the home or something like that. Due to the theme presented in the films etc, I thought that the houses could be associated with nymphs - naiads, dryads, pleiads or others. So, when the student crosses this corridor, or is facing a selection mirror, the nymph of his house would appear and this would be the selection. IDK ahaha crazy ideas ahaha
I'm still wondering why Dutch children go to Beauxbatons instead of Hogwarts, because most people in the Netherlands can speak Englisch, before we turn 11 we learn the basic in school. Only people in higher education in highschool learn how to speak Franse. Children in lower educations in high school learn German or only Englisch. So it's a bit weird that people who don't speak Franse go to a Franse school...
If wizards all went to Beauxbâton, they would know French and probably teach it to their children, making it the de facto lingua franca in Western Europe. The issue is for muggle borns though.
I always thought it was silly how most schools don't teach the dark arts tbh. The knowledge can be obtained regardless for those who seek it but very unknown by those who don't so might as well introduce it in a structured fashion so everyone could be on an even playing field.
I don't think they want there pupils to grow up to be Evil and you can't even use evil against evil also I'm pretty the dark arts is illegal though they should teach them how to make good dark art

Thank you for the Beauxbaton School story. Not all schools were started by four wizards and witches. So they don't need different uniforms or houses for their students. It can cause alienation between them. But some kind of badge or ribbons to show the different levels of years. maybe okay. like a navy blue badge for seniors and white for first years, Etc.
I personally believe there should be another American wizarding school other than Ilvermorny. It would actually be founded by two Beauxbatons graduate students that are husband and wife. The school would be located in the bayous of New Orleans and it was also built with the help of African wizards and witches with voodoo magic, too.
@@ajrayo Here's my idea of the wizarding school that I call the "American Beauxbatons": *Devereaux's School for Magical Youngsters* . . . (Fr. École de Devereaux Magique les Jeunes) an American wizarding school located in New Orleans, Louisiana founded by Beauxbatons graduate and alumnus Demetrius Devereaux, a half-blood wizard (1685-1801) and his wife Caroline Thibideaux, a quarter-Veela witch (1689-1815) with the help of some West African/Haitian wizards and witches in 1718 at the same time the city of New Orleans was founded. Located deep within the bayou of New Orleans appearing as a somewhat splitting image of Château de Chambord with a blended touch of French architectural styles of Renaissance, Châteauesque, and French Colonial along with antebellum, but smaller than the original château and large enough to be a university campus. A bronze statue of Demetrius and Caroline joined together holding hands and holding up their wands is in the school courtyard representing their establishment of the school.
At ilvermourny, students still take their O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S at 5th year but because the education starts one year before Hogwarts their all 14 when they take them
Thank you for your comment I really think that you the founders of the American School of magic did it right I have always felt Hogwarts has rushed the fifth and seventh year examinations and to know that American School of magic actually Waits a bit longer to give all students the possibility of learning more becoming more competent is an absolutely brilliant idea whether you agree or not thank you for your comment and have a wonderful day my friend.

I don't think so. The reason for the reuploads is because photos in a bunch of his older videos just got copyright claimed, so he's having to change the images or else take them down permanently. So I'd guess it's just non-copyrighted pictures that he found that fit the description enough.
The whole reason I found this video was because I was wondering if The school had any mail students. However I'm guessing the reason they made it at all female school well primarily Lead you to believe it wasn't all female school in the movie it's because a lot of preparatory schools are either all female or all mail when you look at drum string for example it is every let the believe it isn't all maie school. Now that we have an American school established with Iverymore I do believe there should be at least 2 African and 1 Asian school established because the types of magic that are used in there for folklore are vastly different. I mean Chinese magic for example uses a lot of citrus and glyphs that is really cool. And A lot of from what I understand central African magic is what would be considered sympathetic magic using A lot of More potion style I just think that will be really cool to see personally.
I would think a should like Beauxbatons would have a rank system. With some sort of badge give based on your rank. The higher your rank the more you are allowed to do at the school. So on the first day of term you are given a smiple task and ranked on that .

Goblin is not a caste.
Nah. It encourages collaboration and competition, let alone a sense of belonging.
You are one to talk, coming from a country divided in 50 states
@@greyLeicester Yeah. We learned everything we know about political science from the English.
That's thing about America it got rid of the old monarchist caste system and started a new more freer system to work with
I believe the director wanted to have Beauxbaton school to be all females while having Durmstrang school to be all male. This allows the director to show Hogwarts to be the coed school compared to the other two.
I still don’t like how the movie made it look like a Girl’s school.
Like this isn’t the 1800’s!
Well to be fair. There still plenty of all girl and all bot schools around the world. Especially in very traditional countries
Obviously you are American
Brandon, Yes there are but not in France. It's been a long while since we don't have all-girls or all-boys schools anymore here.
It's something you would still find in countries like Japan, but not in France.
How I think Students would be sorted at Beauxbaton.
The students would one by one approach a burning lamp, with four doors behind it. Next to the lamp on a high table would be a quill and parchment. Written on the parchment would be a single question.
"What is your deepest desire."
After the student writes their answers the would then burn the parchment in the lamp and a key would appear on the table. The door that the key opens would glow brightly and the student would enter through to the Great hall right behind their house table to be met with thunderous applause.
I think the Beauxbaton great hall's walls and ceilings are made complete of glass giving it a very open and light appearance.
Another awesome video from HP folklore,
it was really Interesting also now l have got a imaginary portrait on beauxbatons School of magic.
Stylish and long-winded. Very French..
I know JK Rowling has said it herself that she isn’t an expert on history (leading to either unexplained mysteries or possible plot holes)
but something I’ve always wondered is: If the magical language is based off Latin (and Greek) were there more wizards? More magic? Did the Romans know or care? Did they learn it from Germanic tribes? The Wizarding world has a large history with soooo much mystery throughout:)
Since Bill Weasley was doing curse-breaking in Egyptian pyramids, we can assume the wizarding world is thousands of years old.
I heard Krum casting spell and it sounded Germanic or Slavic, i assumed every school teaches different spell based on their Language
I assumed his hatred againts muggle because of Saint Patrick "who drove the snakes" from ireland. Maybe Saint Patrick and his followers commit a genocide againts Salazar's clan
Since the most popular version of Cinderella is French it can be safe to assume glamor charms are taught there. For a sorting process which is far too divisive I think the sorting my respective nationalities could work but a showcase of what their affinity is by year three would be ideal.
Beauxbatons lovers, can you help me?💜
I'm writing a meditation set in Beauxbatons during Christmas.
My questions for you are:
- what spells/type of magic do you associate with Beauxbatons? 🔮
- what do you think the Dining Chambers looks like?
- what can you see in the gardens? Animals/flowers/colors? 🦋
- what do students eat/drink for Christmas?
- anything else you imagine/associated with "Christmas at Beauxbatons"
TIA💜
I have the whole story in mind but I'd love to know what fellow fans imagine about it, since we know so little from the official books.
I would be a beauxbatons student. Sorted into the Ombrelune house.
We value intelligence and pride. (Kinda like a slytherin, ravenclaw mix)
Eventually I'd assume I'd go for a job as a professor for Alchemy.
There aren't many descriptions of Beauxbatons in the goblet of fire but the ice scuptures, nymphs and other little details evoke an ethereal aesthetic that matches sooo well with your ideas 💜
(I think I'd also be a Beauxbatons student, probably sorted into Papillonlisse - I'm a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts)
@@LunarMeditations I too would be ravenclaw if I was to attend hogwarts.

@@leonlacroix2638 ooh yes! Maybe it's a Ravenclaw thing, to be interested in learning something in every possible area. Magical subjects are just sooo fascinating that one wants to learn it all!
I don't know if, in the Wizarding World, school would accept students based solely on geographical location (in that case I think I'd be a Beauxbatons student) but maybe Dumbledore could make an exception for us? 😅
@@LunarMeditations I'm sure it's like any collage if you apply and are willing to relocate then should be fine. Also it's the wizarding world, you may not even NEED to relocate with floo powder, dissapperation, etc
with the rich back story of Beauxbatons, Durmstrang and the other schools, wouldn't it be great of Rowling would allow the HP World get the same treatment that Star Wars and Star Trek got in the way of allowing other authors and fans of HP write other stories in the HP World....maybe not stories of the "Golden Trio"....but there is so much in the HP World that so many novel lines can be written and NEVER once mention the "Golden Trio"....Fantastic Beasts have proven this.
That's what fanfiction is for. I'm currently reading some very long stories (well past novel length, at over 175 chapters). There are some fantastic stories set in the Marauders' era, as well as some creative ways of resurrecting Sirius (or ensuring he doesn't die in the first place).
Fantastic beast was boring at best, third one was mediocre

Cool review about Beauxbatons academy of magic
I think this castle has been built quite later than in the 1200’s. It is one of the biggest Renaissance Castle in the valley of the Loire where a stunning number of castles of this style can be visited, and might be actually called the Chateau de Chambord. I am French and have visited it several times, just for the enjoyment of its beauty and the lushness of its grounds. It is very refined, has an abundance of architectural details and therefore is a perfect choice for the stylish school of BeauBatons!
I love how this channel is only re-uploads at this point
This is my favorite school of the Potter verse.
Thanks for the reuploads!
You are the best keep up the great work
This is great. Keep making videos like this
The director should have read the book and focused on making a great movie from it.
I honestly think german muggleborns would attend Beauxbatons, since Durmstrang wouldn't accept anything "below" halfblood.
That is of course, if there isn't a german school
Another great video Dean
Why didn’t you look it up Beauxbatons has a unique sorting method. In order to be sorted, you must shoot a silver arrow across the room. The students that are members of this house are lovers of nature with a strong sense of bravery and loyalty to all they hold dear to them.
happy to watch it again! keep up the good work:)
i have been waitiinngg to be an early potter head
Amazing video !!!😊
Segregating kids into social bubbles based on their predominant values is such a fucking brilliant idea :D No sorting at all, like in normal schools, let the kids interact in normal classes created at random... some of the problems in HP world, in Brittain at least are caused by this stupid concept...
It is a great video. Nice work!
Indeed
I'm guessing proximity to the school, but that does make sense.
If wizards all went to Beauxbâton, they would know French and probably teach it to their children, making it the de facto lingua franca in Western Europe. The issue is for muggle borns though.

That's actually a very great idea.
@@ajrayo Here's my idea of the wizarding school that I call the "American Beauxbatons":
*Devereaux's School for Magical Youngsters* . . .

Devereaux Estate sounds great, although I think it would be more commonly referred to as the Devereaux Plantation given the time period.
At ilvermourny, students still take their O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S at 5th year but because the education starts one year before Hogwarts their all 14 when they take them

Three
Yasss i luv beaxbatonsss!!🤍✨
There is a sorting proces for beaubattons though? 3 houses or isnt that canon?
That's true
Are the pics and videos we’re being shown canon images of the school?
It's interesting that the supposed school is actually le chateau de Chambord
I would think a should like Beauxbatons would have a rank system. With some sort of badge give based on your rank. The higher your rank the more you are allowed to do at the school. So on the first day of term you are given a smiple task and ranked on that .
Has anyone ever wondered how you get a half giant? I mean, how does that happen? I would guess the father would have to be human cause a human mother....well....good luck!
Fairly sure that's how Hagrid's parental situation happened. Just assume it all happens off-camera and enjoy the characters.
For dividing the wizards in this school i'll make it with Nicolas Flamel's fontaine 🤗maybe the students can put they hands in it and the fontaine will bright of a color that will decided in which house they have to go
And i was wondering about the houses... lot of videos are saying that Beauxbatons have 3 houses and other said 5... what do you think about it ?
Thought that about the fountain too !!! and I was thinking about three houses, because 5 is a little bit too much in my opinion. I find that the castle could look like the castle of Chambord :)
