    I had horrible lower back pain for years and was scheduled for surgery,when I saw a video of a guy using a foam roller tube to lay on the floor and under your back . I did it a few times and something popped,scared the crap out of me,but to my surprise the pain was gone , that was 2 years ago and I have had no back issues sense. Great tips hope you can get some relief.

    My Dad used to put holes in the lid channel as well, however, since the introduction of painters tape, I've been putting painters tape over about a 1/3 of the can's open lid channel and pour at that point or prep my brush on the tape ... in either case, at the end of the task, I just pull off the tape, replace the lid and all is clean and paint free. Cheers and BTW, liked this video so much that I'm a new sub! Cheers ...

    I love a good *tips & tricks & hacks* video! You have some really good ones!!!
    I routinely smash my fingers when wielding a hammer, so have learned to just avoid using fingers at all to hold the nail. Bobby pins, clothes pins, pliers, tweezers... used a fork once because it was closer than anything else.
    I guess the paint can mess is a universal struggle, I've seen many strategies for this problem. I saw one fella sculpt a pour spout from his kid's play-dough! There’s another solution that uses 2 pieces of painters tape to make a V over the can, not sure if it holds up when pouring high volume, or using large brushes.
    Well, keep up the good content! I know this video is from a long time ago, it still adds value to lives. I appreciate your effort!

OMG that was awesome and I'll do that to all my paint cans from now on. Thank you very much for sharing.

    The filter spinner trick really works - IF - you can contain all the dust.
    Best to take it outside, put on a mask, and use compressed air to clean it - that's what I do..

    • @BurkeMakesStuff
      @BurkeMakesStuff  Год назад

      Lol! This whole thing came around from me doing exactly that! I live just outside of NYC and properties are super close together. I went outside to bang mine around and clean it out and ended up covering my neighbor’s yard. Led to a huge argument! 😆 that’s when I thought I should find a “better” way!
      I ended up solving the problems entirely with this next build. Went and made a 2-stage dust collection system implementing HEPA rated filter and dust bag. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/k5GpNyH_FBo/видео.html

    One more simple tip, especially for guys & gals whose shop has a cement floor. Wear a back brace. You can buy them on Amazon for under $30.00. I mean think about it, you are doing a lot of physical activity and putting a lot of stress especially on your lower back when you are working in your shop. I use one whenever I work in my shop. The support the brace offers helps me a lot.

      I used to, but when working with smaller brushes I found the the rubber and would often “splash” paint up because it’s elastic. I find the solid aluminum can better to wipe off extra paint. But if it works for you, rock on! Thanks for checking out the video!

    Open a can of paint and putting holes in the edge for drainage will also make your paint dry out while it is in the can, not a great idea if you have left over paint.

    • @BurkeMakesStuff
      @BurkeMakesStuff  3 года назад +2

      Literally never had paint dry out. I do it all the time for the last 30 years. I think it may be about putting them in the right place. As long as the holes are on the bottom most part of the rim, they are completely covered when the lid is put back on.

    Hi do you think is a good idea to have an air conditioner in a shop or its better a fan or a extractor?

    • @BurkeMakesStuff
      @BurkeMakesStuff  Год назад

      I have no clue why, but this message only just popped up on my channel. I think the major problem with A/C units in the shop is that they usually recirculate the air from inside the shop. so it takes in air from the shop, and shoots out cooler air into the shop, then takes in that cooloer air and makes it colder, over and over until the room is at the tmep you set. in this case, the A/C is also taking in dust, saw dust etc from the air. THAT'S a problem, as iot can harm your A/C if not looked after. There are some A/C that give you the option of the A/C taking fresh air from outside instead of from in the shop. Thats what I have had for years. At this point I run that second type of A/C and a dust extractor in my shop fairly regularly. Seems to work well for what I need to use it for. however, when ventilation is called for, i bust out fans toboth bring in fresh air, and vent out the air that needs removal. It all depends on what your needs are.

    why would you introduce salt between to pieces of woods that you are trying to glue together? Defeats the purpose of cleaning dust off of parts to introduce bigger granules of salt.

    • @BurkeMakesStuff
      @BurkeMakesStuff  3 года назад +2

      Actually it doesn’t work like dust at all. You aren’t covering the glue in salt, you’re using I tiny bit. Salt simply adds friction, allowing the pieces to more easily be aligned, before devolving due to the water content of wood glue. Where dust is not water soluble at all, and often covers the entire area of not cleaned off first. This trick is used by so many professionals and is so ubiquitous in the woodworking world that almost didn’t include it because it figured everyone must already know it. I didn't like the trick in the paint can. It won't seal when you put the lid back. It's better to put a string across, held by tape on every side. Yo pass the brush against it to shed the excess paint.

    • @BurkeMakesStuff
      @BurkeMakesStuff  4 года назад

      I was stake a back when you said that. I’ve gotten more positive feedback on that hack than all the other combined. I’ve never had issue with the lid fitting afterwards. Where exactly did you put the holes? It’s possible that they were made too large, I suppose. Forcing a wedge in too far def could have caused deformation of the can.
