For both pliers and wrenches I use 8 gauge solid copper wire coiled up. It's cheaper and very adjustable, plus it takes up less space.

All great tips and ideas sir👍🏻
My grandfather always taught me from my earliest memories of watching him work, then as I got old enough to start helping always stressed, a clean tool and neatly organized work bench and tool storage boxes are happy tools.
I’m proud to admit that in my 60+ years now I’ve always followed those words of wisdom.
Always enjoy your videos so much too and thank you till next time.
Take care and have a good day.

      I follow the same
Philosophy. Taught my kids the same thing. In the end, you will save time if you clean your tools and put them away. The next time you start wrenching, it will go much faster because you know where everything is.

I just spent the other day vinegar and peroxide dipping an entire bucket full of rusted (reeeaaaalllllly rusted) tools I'd found out and about, and then zinc electroplating them all again. (Some were kids stealing wm and leaving them out in the yard for god knows what) im So busy. So Many projects working late into the night, alot gets left around. Have multiple project cars, motor builds, home maintenance and upgrades, 40 chickens I had to build a big nice coop and run for recently, plus a never ending list of big projects. My garage is a MESS. I've been a mechanic (classic restoration and performance mods) for a living. Been an Ironworker for a living. Done construction for a living. I have alllllllllllll the tools. Probably 10 of each socket at least lol. Plus a big 5'×7' high power C02 cnc laser cutter/engraver in my garage. It's a MESS. My project today is to tame it and get it back to how I used to operate. Besides the never ending honey-do and must do list. The garage and my projects wad my happy place. And it's been unusable for a while. One car Parked in there and a billion other things and tools all helter skelter from late night project after late night project. It's a really large 2 car detached garage. Have a workbench with low cabinets that runs 100% of the width of the garage and I still (if it was clean) have enough space to park 2 cars in there with enough left over room to easily pull a motor and transmission with an engine hoist without being cramped. Thanks for the ideas

gotta say, Taiwan ain't china for purposes of manufacturing identification. Virtually everything i have gotten from Taiwan over the years has been technically good; actually, i prefer Taiwanese tools, if i can get them. i'm not a professional anything, however. Heck, i've had the same potato peeler for over twenty years, made in Taiwan, and i'll fight you if you try to take it from me, lol.

    • @diesel09
      @diesel09 10 месяцев назад

I also have supported them cus they are the closest to being like the USA than any other Asian country. Plus china hates them so that means something lol. They do manufacture good tools.

China gets a bad reputation for what we spec out. If you dont want lead in your children spoons tell them you dont want lead. Or just dont cry when you need to do the recall. For higher quality, what ends up happening is as you spec higher tolerence the lack of expertise in china makes their price go up. They know they can make your HF mini lathe but as you want a nicer version the chinese cannot do it in bulk cheap. Then Taiwan is better then German then US. We can do high end for $$$$ china can do low end for $ taiwan is mid range for $$

Thanks for the ideas for organization. I'm a diesel mechanic (have been for going on 35 years) and I learned early on about keeping organized in your box. At a glance I can tell if something is MIA and can pretty much walk up to either of my boxes, open a drawer and blindly grab the proper tool, or when someone wants to borrow something, tell them which drawer and what position it's in. Thanks for some great ideas.

Just bought one of those bit holders. Thought it was cool. I had a remote outside job where I took it and stuck it to my tractor bucket because I was doing a mailbox install. The little SOB fell off the bucket and the bits stuck in it popped out and went everywhere. That sucked. So that thing will stay in the shop and not get used like that again. These are good just don't expect the bits to stay put if you ever drop it. Too bad the magnet on the back is not stronger. Oh well. I did buy some of these HF strip magnets and do use those to hold and organize bits works good. Last time those went on sale I bought a bunch of em.

However, Fishin N Stuff drew me in with excellent video editing to back his steady stream of valuable examples. The best socket holders that work for me are the us general magnetic rail. Sockets stay on tight the rail can be placed upside down and on it side without a single socket falling out. You can also customize them by cutting them short and adding or deleting clips. I replaced all of mine. I got them with coupons. I have extra clips and rails just in case.

I worked at a auto dealership for a while & a few months after I was hired in, there was a scandal. Apparently, the local snap-on rep was selling boxes to the techs in the area, but he was buying them from HF and replacing the logo, pocketing the $ and handling the warranty swaps himself. When he was promoted and one of the techs needed a bigger box, his replacement offered the tech $20 for trade value on his HF box with a snap on logo glued on, which brought the scam to light. The scammer ended up getting fired, but what I find most interesting is that none of the technicians who got these HF tool boxes with the snap-on logo had any idea that they were using something from Harbor Freight instead of snap on before it became public. Afterward, a couple of them who had actual snap on boxes insisted that they had been given HF boxes. Really makes one question if there really is an appreciable difference between the brands. 🤔
Here's a couple hacks for stuff in this video:
For your welding table, pick up some of those cheap plastic plug covers they sell to keep babies from sticking their fingers in outlets. Put them in your unused power strip plugs to keep dirt & debris out.
STOP buying button cell batteries in single packs! Go on amazon or fleabay to get a package of 50-100 of the same size for the cost of a couple of the name brand batteries that last just as long. Even if you don't use all of them, you're still money ahead.

I'm a DIY Guy so I liked the drawer mat for your socket wrenches
Cut a strip off and put cuts in it and
You've got screwdriver/wrench holders a lot of good ideas to make tools holder for myself I'm way to cheap to pay $20 for a socket holder&bit holder

This gave me some ideas for tool organizers I may be able to make with my 3d printer for even less than harbor freight! Gonna try to make some insert organizers for my kobalt case stack tool boxes!

When are you gonna take us on a fishin' trip Keith? The sweltering heat of summer might not be the best time, but maybe in the fall? Take us fishin'!!! 🙂

You should slide the power organizer towards the side with your long wrenches and use it to organize those as well

Happy birthday! These are terrific ideas. I'll be going to Harbor Freight Tools to buy some of those organizers for my tools and my husband's tools. Also, that cord holde will work well on his smoker. I'm paranoid about tripping on the cord in the garage.

This was a great video! I am gonna have to go to harbor freight with like 100 bucks and just get all the organizers, they'll be very useful

You can use the lid with the magnet holders to add space.

Great video. I have very few boxes. I do have five ammo cans, but each can is for very specific things. Cut off wheels, etc. Each can has a large label. I hung concrete reinforce wire on all my shop walls. I use dollar store hooks. 90 percent of my stuff is hung and I can see almost all my tools at a glance. Even stuff inside the box it came in. Ratchets, heat gun, drills, etc. I gotta get the cordless drill organizer that you showed. That would free up work bench space. I also use a lot of dollar store super magnets. I love being organized. Great video. Thank you.

I don't doubt that a bit . Ive watched alot of your tool videos in the past I agree . The best part about the Harbor Freight organization systems is , they are cheaper than most .
