Crossfire/SLK: TCM Reset without Mercedes Star Diagnostic Tool

- If your CrossFire is in limp mode and you have changed out the conductor plate you must rest the internally stored code in the TCM. To do this you need access to Mercedes' STAR software however, I have found a cheap alternative that will erase the stored code thus taking the car out of limp mode.

Followed all the steps after replacing the plate and scanner does not clear my code... Still have a P2100 :(
UPDATE!! I forgot to plug the TCU back from the passenger footwell. When i plugged it in, it worked like a charm!

Do you know if the Autel MD802 will clear or relearn the tire sensors on my 2005 cross fire?
I’m having the same issue.. exactly same. No mechanics want to fix my car so I’m gonna have to do it myself. What’s the model number of your scan tool

No problem just trying to help out where I can. You will have to download the Mercedes software through the Autel website/device manager. It gives you 1 free manufacture download if you want to add additional manufacturers it's $10 so after you claim your 1st free one you have to pay $10 say if you wanted the device to support Ford vehicles. Once you get the device you will have to connect it to a PC and install the device manager its called something link you can download it from the Autel website and then you will have to register your device. After all that you can go into the PC program something link and claim your 1 free manufacture download. If you have any trouble I am always here.

Why did your have to replace plate twice,?
The first one was damaged.

Everything that mine is doing or has done. Mechanic has hooked up his scanner, but it says that it cannot connect to the transmission. Might be the scanner that he is using (Snap-on).
I gotcha I tired the autel and it worked perfectly I had to manually put in the vehicle as a Mercedes SLK instead of having it identifying by the vin

@@judgedredd781 that could be it because I tries and others on the crossfire forum has tries to reset or clear codes in the tcm with the same autel scanner and it would not ease the codes, but it will if you identify the vehicle as a Mercedes slk of the same year. The autel model number is md802

@@justastreetcar4273 Thanks for the advice, talked with the mechanic and he has run it as both Chrysler and Mercedes both with similar results. Back at square 1. Ordered a used TCM and will try to reprogram that and see if that works, If not, I guess we go through the painstaking process of checking each and every circuit. Thanks again
@@judgedredd781 glad I could help, and give changing out the TCM a shot that should hopefully fix the issue. There is some information on the forums about this issue I know some otherss have tried different scan tools and had no success but for some weird reason, other scanners worked. So if you are in the market or need a scanner it wouldn't hurt to try the autel as it is the cheapest one that has had steady success with this issue.
