Car stalls out twice then on the 3rd attempt, nothing? This video will show you how to replace and what the actual symptom of a failed SKREEM (Sentry Key Remote Module) No special tool required and takes about 30-60 min at most. Be advised this part should be purchased and kept in the trunk of your car in case it does fail and you are far away from home like it happened to me. Dealership will charge you over $1000 to replaced this module (VIN specific to your car)

Wow Paul your a wealth of knowledge , what causes this to happen, As u may remember I just just bought a high mileage Crossfire 143,000 . this is kinda scary with this car all the electronics. I guess this isn't something you can buy at your local auto parts store. and Im sure because it is pricey because it is a Mercedes.. but I still love this car, its my first Mercedes and Chrysler car I never owned either till I got this car mostly owned Ford but im done with Ford its Long story..
Oh I finally found out how to open the rear hatch , the rear latch had broken the spring Mechanism ( I bought another off Ebay $40 must have lost its tension and because the latch had stuck in the lock position and the hatch seal had stuck to the hatch so I pulled the latch in the in the open position and reopened it and I lifted it with some muscle and the rubber seal finally let go and it opened, it perhaps hadn't been opened in many many many years . the rubber seal looked ok so Im gonna spray silicone on the rubber seal next chance I get., but now I gotta figure out why the remotes don't work only the parking lights only flash , and gotta figure why the radiator fan don't come on at all even when at engine temp. im sure I will find out in time . like where ur from Beautiful Canada its cold here and I have no Garage to work in so guess this is a spring summer project. The crossfire is a never ending money pit. So far on mine I have had to put in a new ignition switch and key fob, fix the ignition solenoid, fix poor electronic connections. Now I'm underneath trying to remove the starter. To do that you need to remove the exhaust from the engine to make room to get the starter out. A thousand dollar job if you take it in to a dealer. It has stalled four times so far. Mine is an 05.

I have a 2005 Supercharged Chrysler Crossfire. It runs great but every 50 miles or so, it starts idling rought for about 10 minutes but then it clears up.
I check oil like comes on intermittently but I already had the oil changed but still have rough idle and oil light still coming on.
Just got my skreem work done by Mercedes swap shop in cali. Put everything back in and key turns the engine but it doesnt start the car. Also noticed after cranking the car the key doesnt bounce back to on position. Any help ?

When you replace the skreem will anything happen to the key? Bc it unlocks the car now, will it reset anything??
Got the SKREEM repaired, put everything back into place, now I can’t get it to even crank (before it would crank and almost start, then die)

Hello Paul - I appreciate your video very much. I have taking my 2006 CROSSFIRE to the Chrysler- Hyundai dealer in Seattle twice to replace the skreem module, the second time they replace the battery too. now the car is running, however there is a constant rattle when in rides on rough highways that was not there before. I have taking the car twice for that reason and still the same - I am afraid they are on the incompetent side so I do not want to take it there anymore before the screw something else up. Can you recommend a capable individual or a shop in Seattle that can fix it for me. I have a video I can send you of the noise if you send me a phone # to transmit. Thank you.

ok got the Skreem Module and it did start up as shown above. So again thank you for this video very helpful and I avoided a tow to a dealer and who know how much they would have charged me once they were finished with me. One thing now is those plastic trim bezels scratch very very easily. I want to repaint it . so any ideas how how to find a paint match for the black bezel and I also have a lighter gray part to paint as well..

could be a bad battery in the siren charging unit under the front cowl wiper section. @@dejoh778

Hi Paul . Very informative video. these symptoms are exactly what I am experiencing on my 2004 crossfire. So , I guess it is the fix.
I was wondering if, when you put in your old unit to demonstrate, If it was necessary to resynch the key to actually test it? Is it possible my current key just needs resynching? Didn't try that yet.
I seen elsewhere the suggestion that i consider changing the crank position sensor before ordering a Skeem, do you think it is good idea to try that first?

key needs re-syncing and I highly suggest to everyone to change out the CPS now as it is highly prone to fail. I kept my old CPS as a spare to the new one.
ok , i tried the key reynch, that did not change anything on my car. So, Are you saying that a bad CPS can also cause the same symptoms as well, so therefore change the CPS first then if necessary change the SKREEM?

a bad CPS will give you a crank but no start symptoms with no limits on how many times you try to crank the car, the SKREEM will give you 2-3 attempts at cranking then the next one will have nothing meaning it will no longer crank.
So I'm getting the crank system and the skreem replaced.
Good Video, I did the Skreem Repair, and put everything back together, but now I have no turn signals, High beam lights or Dash lights? - I do have low beams, parking lights, flashers, wipers. ... any ideas what I did wrong ? All the fuses are fine, and I had the negative disconnected from the battery.

Can they actual key itself be the problem, I’m having similar problems but my key always seemed to be loose/broken housing and the chip looks beat up. Maybe a new chip? Thanks for your help!
you may need a new key, but the key getting stuck in the ignition switch is a different issue
Paul, My Wife's 2005 Crossfire has twice now in the last few months started, normally, then drove for 10 minutes without issues, then completely died, and would not start.
We have a loose key ignition which sometimes sticks, and is difficult to remove. Have you zeroed in on any electrical issues that kill the car specifically when raining?

Is it possible if the skreem fails would it cause a parasitic draw? I have a 2004 Crossfire with a parasitic draw and codes for no CAN communication with SKREEM and central locking pump. BCM over voltage and BCM under voltage. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What is solution when the wire from the imob antenna ring breaks? It is shielded wire so is almost impossible to repair without shorting. Can a new antenna ring be installed without any programming or is each component that follows now blown out as well.
I ask after months of trouble and multiple keys only to learn that I had a frayed immobilizer antenna cord the entire time...once the wire is cut...it shorts on ground causing start error!

My crossfire has problems moving the seat back and forth can you do a video on that ?
The crossfire has a annoying setup.... where you have to be stopped and one driver or passenger door has to be open ....then it will allow you to move the seats.
Im not get anything no starting and cutting off... i disconnect battery wait awhile sometimes overnight then reconnect and it starts...my ? Is that still skreem especially if it happens again after driving car ... i have an 05 limited...just happend to me again this week...any thoughts?
you need to give me more information, Does it "no crank no start"? if so check your RCM and resolder the 3 pins (see my video on this) does it crank 3 times then no more and if you disconnect the battery you can crank it 3 more times? if so that is the SKREEM...
Thanks for the video. I have a 2005 srt roadster and i have soldered the rcm a few times and i just purchased a new one and the car will start good 4 or 5 times and then it will all of a sudden crank over and it will try to fire however it will not start. After trying 4 or 5 times then it will start. I have changed the camshaft sensor as well as the crankshaft sensor. All of the parts have been purchased from Rob at needswings. Anyone have any suggestions what i need to do to fix this problem. Thanks Murray

Hello, i have this problem, car was in the workshop, and they told me that Engine unit is gone. So i ordered unit with skreem and key from other car . So i hope it will make my car alive again . Im just wondering, if i can let locks in the car the same . So i will change unit, skreem and key (only that metal part)

I am starting to think these cars are not very reliable and I should sell mine and buy something else. I am scared to go on a road trip after watching all the potential problems seems like a whole lot of bad electronics. My hondas never gave me any concerns. Any body want to buy mine??

@@qashas5780 Hello you should read on the Chrysler Crossfire forum. These parts may not be made any longer and those with failed Skreem modules are up in arms against Chrysler and Mercedes for lack of supplying parts. Seems no one can get past the over kill security on such an old car that's what is killing the value on these cars . These Cars are so cheap now because no one can seem to fix this severe problem. If this had a Mercedes vin # you can get parts but because it is a Chrysler , Mercedes will not supply parts since Mercedes killed this car. I love my Crossfire. Good luck they keep putting the ETA on parts further and further back which does not look good. But who knows what will happen but these cars will need to have a whole rebuild with a more reliable electronic . There is a guy on youtube ( DRIVEWAY ) who built his Crossfire to a Chevy LS engine . We may have to do this to keep these cool cars alive . Best of luck to you
