Thank you! Your easy-to-follow instructions made this repair simple. Within 10 minutes the machine was back up and running. I was hero of the house (at least for another 10 minutes!).
My mom just called me over upset her washer died. Crying that she will have to buy a new one. I got on RUclips and looked up the code, found your video and followed along. And sure enough it fixed it. You sir are a hero and this lady thanks you.
I had taken the switch apart earlier looking for the problem to jump out at me. Figured I needed a new switch and ordered one for about $18. Then found your video and the obvious knocked me in the forehead! I immediatly removed, fixed and reinstalled switch and voila! It worked! I cancelled the order and saved $18! Thanks!!!!
Thank you so much! Instead of having laundry pile up while we wait a week for the part, we used your ten-minute fix and the machine is up and running! Awesome!
I wanted to thank you, I had looked at so many videos took door lock off 4 times and about to throw in the towel when I found this video. I fixed issue just like in video and now we are washing. I appreciate your time.
Well done; it's always a pleasure to find someone who wants to preserve rather than just replace. I have a slightly different contact assembly in my LG WM3360, and the case is a little different, first removing the black latch assembly from the electrical portion, then carefully removing the blue cover from the white body. Inside, I noticed that the electrical contacts activated by the latch were a little black from the current arcs. I burnished them with a few back-blading strokes from a small pocket knife (being careful not to bend the movable contact very far), until they were shiny again, and reassembled the unit. The first thing I noticed was that while the unit was beginning to fail, it always took TWO clicks before it showed the door locked. Now, it takes only ONE, but then TWO to unlock. Ingenious design, as each time the solenoid is powered, it advances the mechanism one step: Lock, lock, then unlock. That gives the contacts two chances to make a good connection, before the washer gives up and flashes dE. The take-away? If the washer consistently locks on the first click, the switch is OK. If it frequently, or always, takes two clicks to lock, it is failing. My habit is: first, fix the part, then order a backup just in case.
Thank you so much for you easy step by step instructions. I am a widowed senior citizen. And, I was able to do this myself. Saving me the cost of a repair person. God Bless you!
Sir, you are basically a Saint. Thank you VERY much for this DIY fix, even I could do it! However ... I got your fix done, closed the door, and immediately the door wouldn't open again, yikes -- then I realised that I hadn't plugged the washer power cord back into the wall, thankfully once I got it plugged in the door opened just fine and the washer worked as you described!
You saved me a lot of money. I fixed the door switch - washer is working like a charm. Best mothers day gift for my wife. Thank you for posting this video. Otherwise I would have gone and ordered the part.
This video Was helpful. Me and Mr Tammie followed the steps and we were successful in fixing our washer. Big Thanks to you. Please continue sharing videos. Life saver.
Thanks. Worked has explained. Took me about 10 min. Removed the dryer top, disconnected the door lock switch cable, 2 screws. Followed your instructions and magic, family is washing clothes again. Watch the pins, use a flat blade like a fingernail file or knife vs flat screw driver. They are delicate.
Same here, was outside working in the garden and wife came to complain. Pulled the switch cleaned the contacts and bent back. Works like a charm now. Thanks for your help, time and consideration of making this video!
DUDE -- thank you mucho for taking the time to post this. Mine looked quite a bit different inside, but the same basic principle applied, and I'm back in business without having to use feet and hips to contort the door over and over until it locked. Thank you, thank you!
Thank you. Fixed the problem. Saved me the trouble if paying for a new switch and a service call. Did it myself in a few minutes. Washer is up and running!
Great vid. I did this and fixed the DE error. However, the door would not open after the cycle. Probably needs to be replaced. Getting to the release tab for the door lock was a pain. It is behind the springed hatch on the door lock. Love to see a vid that shows a close-up of how to release this latch.
You are the MAN!! It worked on my LG TROMM. You save me time, money and nagging from my wife. Thanks again for making this wonderful video. Really really appreciated.
Thanks Reggie . i am the grandson of the maytag repairman. i spent summers going on service calls with him but back then they were all top loaders with mechanical timers . These front loaders , all electronic , are a new kind of animal 😀
This might be the most helpful yt video i've ever seen. Not only saved me a few dollars on a new lock, the washer was only down for a couple hours. Thank you!!
Awesome. Thank you. My switch was a little different, and I didn't see anything wrong with it on the inside. Seemed like everything was connecting just fine. I took it apart, made sure it looked like everything was in its place (it seemed to be), and put it back together again. Re-installed it, and it's working like a champ. Who knows what it was, but I'm grateful it's working again!
Thanks, our washing machine presented the problem with the error code DE2, it is a newer LG washing machine, and the door lock is a little different but it does the same function, this video helped me and I was able to start the washing machine again, Later I will buy the new insurance to make the change, again thanks for this video.
@@inzombnia616 Remove the safety, and the cover I only put a rubber to join the two sheets so that they would make contact, I assembled it again and it worked perfectly, but it is only for emergency, because if there are children they can open the door, as was the end of week and on Monday I bought it in a store that sells spare parts for washing machines, I bought the original spare part, it is not very expensive, it is easy to change it, you just have to remove the ring that secures the round rubber on the outside and voila, just remove the two screws that hold it, remove the patch with the cables and that's it. assemble everything in reverse.
Thank you so much!!! It worked! We have been having problems for 3 yrs with our washer. I found your video, repaired the door lock, and it was successful. I'm so happy.
Thanks a million!!! You just saved me from having to haul all our dirty clothes to the washateria...this totally fixed my washer! I also appreciate you going straight to the point and showing how to fix it. Oh and Blue is beautiful!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! You saved me so much time and money! Addon.. a closer look at the second contact underneath the one I had to bend up to make the connection, there was a round puck covered in some black stuff. I had to clean that puck and the bar holding it in. I've lived with this error for years and now it's fixed! Thanks to you!
Thank you for posting this very instructive and easy to follow video. Yours is truly the best! I was able to fix my washer in no time thanks to you. thumbs way up!!
Fixed it! The contact was MIA, so I bent it back. Perfect, saved 30 bucks on the part. It's hard to imagine 40 thumbs down on this video. Obviously, those DIYers are clueless. Well done!
Reggie, thank you for your post!! Saved me money, more importantly momma can wash her clothes!! Wasn’t the same switch but your post helped me sort it out and getting it working!
My Samsung front load dryer is a different model and 10 years old. The controls and display is on the front. My dryer has EXACT same problem. Logically, it should work if dryer has same symptoms. Took the lid off (2 screws). Controller board is located front left side. Removed and reconnected all connectors, tapped on the 2 black relay switches, closed everything backup, crossed my fingers and plugged it back in. Tested the display buttons and the door. IT WORKS NORMAL AGAIN! Problem solved. Will see how long it lasts. If it continues to fail then I will consider new circuit board. Thank you so much! Either it had loose/bad connector or relay gets worn and hung up.
Hi there what should I do. my LG washer machine gave me DE code I raplace the door switch .I did fixed the original like you explained in you video I don't know what else should I do ?
You’re amazing, thank you!!!! Ours wasn’t exactly like this one, but my husband figured it out. Ours has been acting up for a long time and finally just stopped working. Now it works like a charm! Take care and thanks so much again!
Because it's Friday, and the door lock failed in the middle of a load of laundry, I went ahead and bought a new switch. Can't have the washing machine down for the weekend. After completing the replacement, I took the old switch apart and no bounce whatsoever. Just as you said. Fixed it and now we have a spare in case the new lock mechanism ever fails.
Thank you that’s pretty crafty! I think I might do a video on the door seal...after putting in a drain pump and completely reassembly the door switch goes out! I’m like NASCAR with the door seal 😬
Thank you so much for making this video! At 1st I didn't see this video and I ordered a new switch from amazon. I installed the new switch and still nothing. So i figured I'd have to replace the board or something. As I was searching how to do that, I stumbled across this...am wamm this worked!
I took my lg front loader washer apart to clean the seal, hose and filter/drain. When I put it back together I get a "de1" error code. It worked great before I took it apart. It doesn't make any noise like it's trying to lock when I try to start it. Do you think the door lock is still my issue??
Hey man I found your video interesting, since I had a próblem with my LG washer, I took that part out and took the black pieces apart and now idk how to put it back together
You make this look so easy.....I have a front loading machine, and i think the mechanism is behind the grey rubber seal, but I don't know how to remove it. Can you tell me how? Thanks, lots of dirty clothes here in RI :)
Thanks for the video. I have a Kenmore Elite 796-41029900. dE code popped up. Replaced the switch and the code is still being displayed. I checked the contacts to the switch and everything is correct. Could there be something else here? Additional info: we had a power surge from the power company. It hit us pretty hard - blew out lights, burned transformers, wall plugs and light switches. Could it have inflicted more damage to the washer and the dE code is a reflection of greater damage? If so, how do I check to confirm? Thanks
We changed the rollers and now I get a de warning. It looks like a short wire with a wide connector is not hooked up. I can’t find where it plugs into. My friend that changed the rollers said it was unplugged already. It was working prior to changing the rollers. I suspect it became disconnected when he took the lid off. I wish I could post a photo of the wire, but I can’t. This wire is tied to the set hooked to the motherboard, but it shorter. Should this wire be connected to something?
Thank you very much sir,,,, May I know. Water coming inside but not rooted ( it's try to rooted but .. a little noise is coming ) Clean censer hose every thing, Please can you tell me what I have to do next

Thank you! I removed my door lock and fixed it in about 5 minutes using your video. A great fix, much appreciated!
Genius! I had pulled it apart and ordered a new part. I thought maybe the wiring in the magneto went bad. This fixed it right away!

Super helpful. Ordered the switch, which is a week out for delivery. Was able to fix the old switch, using this technique.

Wow, thanks for your advice, that's revive my washer machine. Thanks!!!!

Thank you so much for making this video, you made my day. Thanks again.
Is there anyway to just bypass the 6 wire types found in the Samsung Aqua jets models?
Bro you are the best.
😁
But....should contact be open or closed before reinstalling... looks like you show closed in video when reassembling switch??
Thanks! It worked!
WOW! Thanks a buzillion.
Does this work for front loader LG's?
great video; just saved me $50. thanks!
This fixed my washer!! It was acting strange and kept giving the dE error even when it locked the door.
It worked perfectly, thank you very much

Very helpful. Thank you.
I have a Whirlpool wfw3090jw0 washer for few months and today it gives me dEn error and stop working. Do you think it is the door problem?
