- Welcome back to Tangents and this time it is all about the Detomaso Pantera. In this video I introduce the car and work to get it back on the road. This car has sat for the majority of the last 5 years and due to that needs a lot of help to be brought back to life.
Ultrasonic cleaning chemical is from KM Carburetor made by Sharpertek. If you need a 5 gallon qualtity simply contact Kurt at KMCarburetor and he can help you out. www.kmcarburet...

Love the look of this car. I have always loved the lines way back when I laid eyes on it first time. Today it's still beautiful to look at and has now a hint of nostalgia to as it is getting on in the years, aren't we all.
Hope you NEVER sell it and I will watch every video on this car, that's for sure.
The other car that I look forward to seeing on this channel is that cruise ship on wheels. Can't remember what it was a Cadillac or a Chevy but it was BIG and beautiful as well.
Keep up the good work
I definitely agree on the lines. The Panteras have such a simple uncluttered set of lines.
Hahaha the caddy is definitely a cruise ship. It needs work and id say I'll get it moved over to the shop before winter
I could watch that gated shifter all day!!
I plan to make a dedicated driving video with focus on that shifter. It's gesr head ASMR
The best part about Holley carbs is they are infinitely adjustable. The worst part about Holley carbs is they are infinitely adjustable.
🤣🤣🤣 got a belly laugh out of that one!
Watching the drive, I started thinking "Man that thing is nice. I don't hear any rattles, clunks or any unwanted noise, steering and shifting is crisp..." and just then you started talking about how tight and smooth it is. LOL.
That is one sweet collector car, and it's so good to see it driven as it's meant to be.
It really drives exceptionally well. The car itself has over 60,000 miles on it and is unrestored. It has just been enjoyed and well cared for. Vehicles that sit forever never feel this good.
a rare car in the UK...i have never seen one but seen a mangusta which was an event! beautiful car BJ.
I've yet to see a Mangusta actually!
@@tangentsbhb this was back in 1970's Lincoln in the UK...a friend of a family member brought it over to show me as I was about 7 or 8 at the time. proper wow moment once it was struck up.
Reminds me of the car i owned a Lotus Europa jps i think its the front end, what a lovely car!
That would be a great car!
The DeTomaso Pantera is such a rare care here in the UK. I think i have seen two examples out in the wild, in all my life, and i am old😂. But what a beautiful car. Really awesome to watch and follow someone equally passionate about two wheels as four.
Keep up the great work.
It is greatly appreciated.
Well thank you! My passion definitely extends past motorcycles into many avenues
I know some of those roads!!!! Haha sick video. This car is mint
I wish it was running well when you were here. Would have been fun to take you for a ride in it
This is a very beautiful example of how a car should be cared for it is immaculate your dad must have taken very good care of it ,I know if I’d been him I’d be looking down saying yeah I taught my son well ,good lad 👍❤️❤️🔧🔧🔧👌 awesome BJ lovely video mate ❤️❤️
❤️❤️ thanks for that
@@tangentsbhb your welcome BJ you done an awesome job on the carb looks brand new
You can tell it’s the next day because I’ve changed my clothes and hat.
What a nice ride. Can’t wait to see it in motion. I’m thinking I may also make an appearance at an auto-x now that I have a car again. Needs some tires first though.
That would be rad! Once this is running how it should I'll definitely take you for a spin. Auto x day would be rad!
@@tangentsbhb I did a whole season of autox back in 2007 with my 3cyl metro. I didn’t take it too seriously. I did win one event the national ranked mini guys didn’t show up.
Impressed when you tried to start a v8 with a bike battery, 😮 💪 even small blocks need big cranking amps. Love the Pantera dude 😎
Well this battery has cranked over a bunch of larger vehicles so I was semi confident. It didn't like 11:1 compression though lol
still my favourite supercar from Top Trumps as a kid, and always will be - fascinating watching you get into the bowels of the thing, you can add contortionist to your CV, for sure
I wish I had a camera angle further away while I was "in" the car as it was pretty funny looking lol
BJ - Really enjoying Tangents...as well as the bike videos!!
Glad you have enjoyed!
A friend of mine bought new one early 70s… Sales people didn’t want to help him cause he had jeans a white t shirt….. they changed their tune when they found out he was paying cash (from accident)… awesome car I drove it a few times loved it… but wasn’t made for family of four lol
I've heard many stories like that about salesman and unsuspecting customers
Beautiful car. Nice video, BJ. 👏👏👏
Thank ya. I definitely want to make some fun videos on this since it's not so common
So clean, incredible, superb quality, ,never see an original pantera like this !!!👍👍👍😎
It's definitely a great example of an original car
Love this De Tomaso Pantera. Great Italian design in combination with the robust American drivetrain - fantastic!
A really great combination indeed
Man looks like such a fun car...to drive not to work on lol. I'm enjoying the new channel, interested to see that Porsche evolve over time.
I was definitely salty at the hatch making the work difficult lol. At least is an old school v8 and not a complex and fragile Italian engine. Very excited to bring Porsche content 🤘
loving the new channel, can't wait to see more of the cars!
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the videos!
Wicked car!
Officially the world’s longest dipstick, it may even be dipping a well under the garage floor!.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 It's aggressive with the sound it makes too.
It’s a Beast!
Great vid, keep them coming.
Glad you enjoyed!
For the record, I prefer this content to the motorcycle stuff :) Also the framerate when you go handheld takes a dive.
Well this is the place for it!
I think the slant seating is just a mid engine thing. My Fiat X1/9 is the same way. Pedals crowded inboard and a wheel well rubbing on your left ankle.
Agreed! Also, those Fiat X1/9 are mega cool cars! There is one locally I see at cars and coffee that has a Honda K swap in it with lots of quality work done throughout the car. It's beyond cool.
Nice car and nice work. The easiest way to check for a battery drain is to switch everything off and remove the main battery terminal and just tap the lead on the battery post. If you see a spark then you have an issue.
Well I know there is a drain so I've been checking current across the fuses to try to narrow it down. I need more time with it
Cool carriole
👍👍
Have the brakes been updated to the 4 piston system yet? The one I worked on had a 1 piston system on it and the owner opted for the 4. This was after it almost ended up in a lake after adding a roller system to the engine. Just curious.
Hmm, I actually do not know 100% on that. Going by feel I would say they have been upgraded as I feel very confident using them. They seem powerful
Beautiful car. Do you think it should be running 15W-40? 10W'-30 seems a bit thin for an old school engine
Well with the 10-30 the oil pressure is over 70 at idle even warmed up so per the gauge in the car it doesnt need anything heavier. I will go throught the engine builder notes and see if they used something specific.
Where did you buy the carb cleaner at? I’d like to get some of that for my next project
It's linked in the description
@@tangentsbhbmy bad always forget to look in there. Im an idiot 😅. Thanks though that carb looked super nice
I may have asked this before on the other channel.. how big is your ultrasonic cleaner? Thanks.
It is a 30l. I have it linked in my Amazon Storefront over on the other channel
@@tangentsbhb Thanks brother.
Hi buddy
👋
I can't believe that you used a ratchet to put the carburetor on. Come on man! I would have used an impact driver 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Nice!!, don't ever sell it!!!
It will be around at least until I finish my Benelli build 😎
