Porsche VDO Clock Repair
Repairing the VDO analog clock on my Porsche 924. This was a simple fix using two new capacitors soldered in for a solid connection. I am happy to report that after 4 months the clock is still perfectly in time. With the clock functioning and the new LED dash lights installed I feel the interior has really taken a leap forward as far as quality. There are a TON of interior changes coming so stay tuned!
For this you will need two 100 uF 16V capacitors. The ones I used are listed below:

    A tool I use for desoldering was a gift from a friend who used to do circuit board work. Go look for a “solder sucker”. Once the solder melts you put the tip next to it and press a trigger that releases a pre-sprung plunger inside and POOF solder is cleared from the surface and the component will come out easily. That’s for the episode BJ, we know how busy you are 😁👍🏻

    I hope that ramp is anchored, welded or pinned and not just sitting in place. I know what you mean about the cost of storage, Most people do not realize the cost incurred by a car just sitting inside and not being used, Things still malfunction even though it just sits, insurance still needs to be paid, and things get bumped into and scratched in a crowded shop. That is not a cheap car and will be loved by whoever owns it.

    Thank you so much for sharing! It is pitty that you did not explain how to unplug the "upper left" plug. That cost me two hours yesterday, to find out.😀 I did have to remove the insturments first and I am wondering how you did it without this. That would heva been impossible for me. 😲 Anyway, is it possible to replace these LEDs with yomething brighter or with a different color? Thank you! 🙂

    • @tangentsbhb
      @tangentsbhb 2 месяца назад

      I guess I am not sure what plug you are referring to. The speedometer cable was the most difficult for me. The method I showed is pretty much the standard for removal so Im sorry if it wasn't helpful. You should be able to get any color you want but there won't be a kit for it. You would have to source them individually.

    • @KalleTheodor
      @KalleTheodor 2 месяца назад

      @@tangentsbhb Don't be sorry, your video helped me a lot! 😀I was referring to the plug that you are mentioning at 03:13 The one for the high beam switch. The cable was so short and the plug so tight... Anyway, I finally managed to pull this one as well; and in the meantime I have replaced the lighting with LEDs. I did not use LEDs for the turn signal as I guess LEDs are not built for this constantly on and off. And of course I did replace that single bulb by a new bulb and not an LED. 🙂 I ordered a lot of different LEDs until I found the perfect combination of the two different kinds of plugs. I found out that all coloured LEDs are too dark, as it seems that they only put some little paint on the original white LEDs 😞. So now everything is shining in cold bright white. Not the color I was originally going for, but I can now match it to my radio's lighting. Still have to replace everything in the center console though... Would love to show a picture but that is not possible here. 🙂 Again, thank you very very much for sharing!

    Hi awesome video, i kinda have lil similar problems on my "brand new" 924/944... the temp gauce works kinda bad (it raise very very quickly to the danger zone...but everything works soo it's probably the gauge or dirt problem?). the temp gauge and fuel gauce "dances" if i put the headlights on and off...soo maybe some grounding problems idk?? And the last one problem, the AC switch like yours doesn't work :( I checked behind ofc it has replaced in the past but maybe again some wiring problems maybe not into the switch, but into the AC motor?
