One of the songs my dad used to sing back when I was a kid. Every weekend he grab the guitar and we set in living room. He sing Bare, Cash, Tubbs, Twitty songs. Great memories
I just recently discovered Bobby Bare and I realized I almost missed an important part of my life. :) I was born in 1987 here in The Philippines. My Father worked in Saudi Arabia all his life and he used to send us cassettes of records which really became the soundtrack of my Life. From Peter Paul And Mary, Jim Reeves, Joan Baez, The Beatles, Abba, and many more, I had a different music compared to my peers growing up. My classmates used to call me “the old soul” because I love my “oldies” music. Fast forward to the present, I decided to create a playlist in spotify for a legendary country music and The Streets of Baltimore was suggested and I couldn’t stop listening since then. Sorry for this long post but I really wish you good health and a happy comfortable life and thank you very much for your music. I’m 34 years old now and I can’t wait to introduce your music to my kids in the future! God bless you, Sir Bobby Bare. Much love from The Philippines. :)
I love 80's Bobby. The smile and the random eye blinking. 60's Bobby is cool too, very different but yea comes with the decades. 80's outlaw Bare is my favorite ( I did take into consideration 90's and 2000's Bobby, but makes me sad.) Charisma... this man has it!
Interesting. Actually I'm 66. I grew up at Eglin AFB, on the beach, bee married twice, no kids, lived in NJ for a few years before landing in Tampa Bay. I've spent a lifetime in manufacturing, construction, services and businesses in marketing and writing proposals. Had a couple of small businesses but they were mostly for fun money. My favorite was making homemade dog treats. Now I'm working from home writing proposals for an accessibility auditing company that assesses businesses' web sites, and helps them make their sites more accessible by the blind, deaf and all levels of partial. Best job ever. Life is good. ::)
lol ya got to love and respect this guy from the start he was destin to be great and the songs he sang was down home and funny WTG and this song is a great song to do on a gig deff in some small town bar deff makes the drunks mellow out :D
This was on the double album of songs written by Shel Silverstein for Bobby Bare including Marie Lavaux, The Winner, and The Mermaid Song. Shel also wrote A Boy Named Sue and One Piece At A Time for Johnny Cash
When i was a kid in the 80s i got woke up to my uncle harry singing this drunk as a scunk down my stairs dad &mum was having a party then he sung bobby bare songs in as he drove his lorry.I loved harry so much, he looked a bit like bobby but one sunny morning harry went to get in his lorry and the ira murdered him for absolutely nothing. This breaks my heart 35 years later 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Indeed, Hoyt Axton had a hit song called 'Ravishing Ruby' , and Waylon Jennings sang 'Donna on my Mind', and 'Virginia, there is another Woman'...all exceptional songs.
Great song. I'm betting this is also from the pen of the late great Shel Silverstein. Checked, and I was wrong. Eddie Rabbit wrote it with two other guys, neither of them named Shel.
I hate this. So glad Mac Davis sang the song himself. Mac doesn't get enough credit for writing this song. His version has a better vibe than this sorry assed performance.

This song brings back a lot of nice memories.
If today's country music sounded like this, I'd actually listen to it.
You're in my old neck of the woods. From FWB - raised on Okaloosa Island. Go Emerald Coast!
I thought Bushnell was up in my old neck of the woods, near FWB. I see you're closer to Tampa Bay. Stay dry today!!!
I arrived late one night in '81 and I'm still here LOL Where's the tequila? :)

At least she's got a song with her name in it. Some people never get that.
Indeed, Hoyt Axton had a hit song called 'Ravishing Ruby' , and Waylon Jennings sang 'Donna on my Mind', and 'Virginia, there is another Woman'...all exceptional songs.
