Brooke, I really enjoyed this and what was so cool is I am like yes tell him about that thing. Okay like I maybe in Oklahoma, but my heart is with you in every adventure. ….speaking of daughters & coffee 👍
Your story is so crazy, interesting, adventurous!! I love hearing about how you got from Michigan to Alaska. You need to write a book (if you haven't already)!!
My youngest granddaughter took a job in Montana this summer clearing brush. Living in a tent . Fire prevention. We are all amazed and so proud. What will she do from here. 😊 She just turned 22 up there. One of her coworkers give her a cake. She sends me pictures. 🏕️🪓🪚
No high horses for Brooke or Dave, they walk the walk and talk the talk. Thanks Brooke and Jim.Anytime I think of Brooke,I see her stripping bark off logs and cutting and trimming trees. What a mate.I'll always remember Brooke and Dave driving all the way up into upper Michigan and helping U Tube family try to put a water well in.That was heart all the way .
It seems to me that you guys possess a very important quality that very few people have…. On top of your passions and motivations you have perseverance!
Awesome podcast Jim. I follow Brooke and Dave on a regular basis. She has some great stories and experiences to share. You all are awesome wilderness adventurers.
Im addicted to these podcasts while commuting. I’m a middle aged woman who’s a wanna be Tori or Brooke! So I really enjoy the conversations with other Adventurers
Nice interview with valuable information and not just for women but anyone seeking something different. I'm older but it hasn't stopped me from trying something new, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks---yes you can, the difference is, does the dog want to learn?" I'm anticipating the log cabin video from Brooke, everything she does she sticks with it with determination.
Brooke is a truly amazing woman and such an inspiration! I love watching her channel. Most importantly from what I see and hear from her she is nice and kind. Love her.
Jim, that was wonderful as are you. I have watched your(and Ted’s) channel and enjoyed your content! I only follow a few wilderness channels. You guys and Tori and Heather are awesome. Brooke is my girl. I have immense love and respect for her love of nature and for her fun loving yet audacious spirit in tackling projects that would take some several men to compete. To me, you are all wilderness legends. Thank you all.
She is an amazing woman….I’m a 70 year old woman, who never had the confidence to step out of that comfort zone and have always been afraid to try things…Love her videos and so enjoy putting myself in them….
Thanks for two wonderful hours. I have also enjoyed watching Girl In The Woods. It brings back personal memories of my wife and I building our own house in the country in 1977.
Yep, Two superstars. No doubt about it. Just in awe of all that you both do (and then share) for the rest of the world! Yep, Two superstars. No doubt about it. Yep. Oh yea. 〰💥👍💥〰
Brook, you filmed one of my favorite videos. So much so, I shared it with my husband. Which one? The A frame when you couldn’t get the window/side to close. You tried and tried and tried to close it, adjust this, unscrewing that. You forgot you tied a rope to hold it up. It’s my favorite because it’s something any of us could easily have done and have! Thanks a bunch Jim, Brooke and Dave….love your channels!
That was a fantastic podcast. Both of you are so much more adventurous than I ever will be, but I find you also very inspiring to live the life you want to live. I love listening to you.
Great interview Brooke! Thanks for mentioning The Caretaker Gazette at 24:17. We are now in our 42nd year of publication and have received many new subscribers thanks to your interview. Best regards, Gary C. Dunn, Publisher, The Caretaker Gazette.
My youngest grandkid that just turned 22 years old. Took a job in Montana work in the woods. We are still amazed. She graduated out of college and wanted something different.
Jim, you are a great interviewer. You guests know exactly how to answer you simply due to the way that you frame your questions. Th are not simple questions. They pull so much information from your guests. Nicely done!!
Yes this was the interview I was waiting for, Brooke is such an inspiration for women been following her since Alone just the same way I came to follow you Jim.Your both setting good examples of what following your dreams means.🙂🇨🇦❤👍
I came across this on utube, love girl on the woods. You are an awesome lady and so talented. I loved hearing you go back to the beginning. Loved this video!!!!
I love this freaking podcast! Girl in the Woods is a huge inspiration to my wife! I can't watch now but wanted to get my comment and like on this video ASAP!
Thanks Jim,,,,,,,the Bairds and the Whipples are such shining examples of how to live an adventurous life. Taking the time and effort to share the Keys with us. Overcoming our doubts and fears with vision and inspiration like you guys share. Add an attitude of gratitude with a great love for Nature and you've got the Keys. Thanks again,,,YAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Great video with Brooke Whipple! I've watched her for years and admired her fortitude. It was interesting hearing about her start in Alaska. I've subscribed to your channel as well. Thank you!
So excited to listen to my 2 favorite RUclips channels in one podcast. This is my second time tuning into this video. The Whipples are good people. The real deal. I just met them yesterday here in Michigan💙
Two of my favorite youtubers. I remember watching the alone show you were on, comparing your experience but wanting you to both win. Brook should of stayed in her first shelter and the Baird bros didn't have a good shelter at all. So good to hear Brooke's adventures. I think Brooks raft trip is on RUclips, I have watched it. Every kid that liked Huckleberry finn always wanted to build a raft...cheers
Love these podcasts and adventure stories, so inspiring. What would be cool Jimbo is if you asked your guest to bring pics of their adventures and include them in the video. Like a pic of Brooke on that river raft or of her and Mike in the Aleutian Islands.
Hearing you talk with Jim reminds me of my husband and I lived. We worked very hard for what what we had. Wouldn't change any of our lives. 38 years knowing it will be hard. He developed Rumatoid arthritis, early on. But we made it worth living. Went through three power chairs. We lived in a convered school bus with three little girles. They talk about the memories. We did a lot of working for others. But that was ok. We played with others peaple toys.😊
That was a great interview! I love Brooke's 'Girl in the Woods' RUclips Channel. I think I have watched all her videos, some even more then once. I live in Michigan and love her Upper Peninsula videos. Her passion for nature is contagious. I have loved nature my whole life and she inspires me to love it even more. I say, 'Get outside and get happy' often.
Loved watching this-rewatched your season to re- fresh memory of it all. Would be amazing if you had the father and son team's from your season ( or the other bro to bro teams) on your podcast to compare familial experience. They were so humble and sincere. Would love to hear their after story. Feel like it would be important to hear.
So on "A Lone" the film company has all that cut out film, all those clips that they didn't use. They could go back into the unused clips and make a WHOLE NEW program of the same season but with all new footage that know one has seen. THEY SHOULD DO THAT!!!
Brooke, it's God-given energy! I am the same as you. I love projects. While in the middle of one, I'll be thinking about what's next. All my energy is focused on my home. ❤
Hey Brook Love your channel and content .your such an inspiration hAve so much experience, I also wish they had various outdoor courses in the curriculum as well. One being a conservation officer , Trail guide, forest management.. for those who want that , You and Dave have lived such an awesome interesting life to date and still. I love pike , Just not the bones. walleye are my fav. though. love that why of thinking build it like it has always been there . Thanks so much Jim loved this
Brooke put your Yurt on your U.P. property. It belongs in a setting like that. I know that land. Some wonderful values are waiting along the river after the fire. It truly is paradise.
... Good podcast Jim ... Brooke is a treasure to the outdoors community ,, But for a moment now ,, She's Gone .... Love her "Git-r-Done" attitude ,, wish I had it ,,, many projects , although important ,, waiting for next step ... will happen ,, but no motivation .. low energy ...
Love, listening to prep this guy’s interviewing himself more than he is her his story is bounced around from place to place to place. I just want to hear Brooke story.
Brooke so sorry. When you talk about that property in Alaska. I still can not let go of what to do with the Bunker. Just me. I know. No big deal. But I would still say that the Bunker is such a huge asset there. I get it. Not in your plans. Sorry can't help it. Take along some 6ml greenhouse grade (high carbon) plastic, frame a 12 pitch roof - just rafters - with left over logs ~ smooth all the surfaces then cover that with the plastic and you'd at least have a greenhouse kind of setup. It might be cold in the winter but the 12 pitch roof would shed the snow. Just saying. 😜
What is HARD though?? You have to PICK your hard! Is it easier to have a big amenity filled house that you have to work your ars off to have but never get to actually enjoy life around it because you owe so much on, or doing the "hard" physical labor to make your own place in life enjoying the whole story line getting there?? You, Brooke, have lived the life I actually wanted to do! With the wild fire fighting, leaving and finding a way to live off the land, meeting a guy who compliments that and has the same dreams, etc! To constantly be told "you can't do that(cuz you're a girl)..." yeah....GOOD JOB!!! YOU ARE my adventurous side of me I never got to realize. HOWEVER! I am finally starting to rethink about actually doing these things!! Thanks for the idea of "caretakers gazette" I'm going to check that out!!

Brooke, I really enjoyed this and what was so cool is I am like yes tell him about that thing. Okay like I maybe in Oklahoma, but my heart is with you in every adventure.
….speaking of daughters & coffee 👍
This was great Brooke
Your story is so crazy, interesting, adventurous!! I love hearing about how you got from Michigan to Alaska. You need to write a book (if you haven't already)!!
@@cheriecoffee336apparently she has. It was mentioned in the beginning but never said what the name was. I'd like to read it myself.
My youngest granddaughter took a job in Montana this summer clearing brush. Living in a tent . Fire prevention.
We are all amazed and so proud. What will she do from here. 😊 She just turned 22 up there. One of her coworkers give her a cake. She sends me pictures. 🏕️🪓🪚
The Whipple family is awesome for sure
Yes! The Whippire!
Brooke’s tiny A-frame video was invaluable in my own tiny A-frame build. I’ve now built 2. All with zero experience. Thanks Brooke!
Brooke: "I was cutting classes to play ping pong"
Jim: "cool".
😂😂
Another great podcast!

Yes, only lately have we been introduced to Jim’s family- his Mom. These people are just fascinating!
Nice interview with valuable information and not just for women but anyone seeking something different. I'm older but it hasn't stopped me from trying something new, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks---yes you can, the difference is, does the dog want to learn?"

👋Most enjoyable interview and informative, how it all started for Brooke and her hubby. 💯👍
Yes it was!

Loved this interview but i gotta say that it eats me up inside as a suburbanite longing for the wild
Jim & Brooke , loved the show…but who am I kidding? I watch the Baird’s & Whipple’s like an addict. So I might be a little biased. 😁

I like the looks of that property too.
Way Cool....
Nice Jim.👍👋🎣
I remember that raft show Brooke was on. Looked like fun.
Very cool, I still haven’t seen it.
Haha, Jim. When you talk about your earlier filming without the tripod, my hubby and I refer to that as your Blair Witch era. Lol.
Jim is the one of the OG's forsure. So many just followed suite imho
Love this! I wish I could convince my husband to sell the house and move to a cabin in the woods but he’s not as crazy as me haha
I quit watching this podcast because of him Brooke is stellar
She is amazing. Are you saying you don’t like me on the podcast? What do you not like? Honest question. I may be able to improve moving forward.
Hi broke 👋 wish you could’ve made it to oscoda this year 😢
I want a girl in woods the song 🤩
