Another great video of you explaining what was going on with Bubba and then getting right into taking things apart . Sometimes it takes patience and determination to get to the bottom of what was going on with the different things and then having common mechanical sense to fix things right and having pride in your work, doing it right and not cobbling it up. I have over the years, ran into lots of people that were never learned how to really do things right and they think that what their doing is just okay and that there is nothing wrong with how their doing things and I run into that so much doing electrical work, especially . I had several great electrical teachers and I have always got good complements from all of the electrical inspectors that I have dealt with on my jobs over the years . So many people anymore don't care, just get er done, whether it's right or not or how long it lasts. So thanks Michael for taking the time to show us what was wrong, how that you figured it out and what needed to be done to fix it and then fixing it right or ordering new parts and will fix it right . So thanks going out to Mike and Matt and Bill for this video . Take care and stay safe and getting the equipment repaired and back to work, while joking, laughing . 🤗👍💖💫
The service and maintenance videos is very enjoyable to watch from a viewer that is interested in stuff like trucks, excavators, locomotives from a more general perspective. Enjoy very much your uploads of buying equipment, servicing, auctions etc. Thanks for your uploads.
This kind of stuff is what I started watching your channel for, honest attempts to fix stuff, where it doesn't always work on the first try, like the "real world" instead of some of these channels where they edit everything to look like it's all done perfectly, on the first try, in a few minutes. Plus, coming from the old school where I expect my co-workers to give me a running, smart-aleck commentary while working, it kind of feels familiar. Thanks for sharing.
Had a good one the other day, friend had just got a old motorcycle working and was about to go for a test drive, "So you gonna toss on a seat or ride her bareback?" Que his wife snorting and giggling like a school girl. Sadly the test ride reviled he needed another set of forks to make the front end correct (~2 hours of trying different spacer combos), and last I seen he was rewiring the hand controls =/
You are a genius! Truly, a man with common sense is worth 10 men with none! I am always amazed how you will not stop on anything until it is right. Very impressive Mike! Well done sir!
As someone who has worked on a massive range of machinery over the years, (from lawnmowers to marine steam turbines to automotive from 1937 to current, to liquid gas generation et al), I fully understand the "figure it out and make it work" approach and the joys of trying to fit a mirror, light, tools, hands and the part into the space made to barely fit the part.
Mike I gotta admit watching you fix things or should I say trying to attempt to fix tix is so satisfying to watch but DP your one very cluie.thanks to bill for his help
I work in a totally different industry but troubleshooting is the way I have learned so many valuable lessons. It may not be the fastest but in the end you now have a new skill to put in your bucket. Really enjoy these kind of videos. Just shows there are guys that still enjoy tearing stuff apart, save a few bucks and fix it themselves. Well done!
I love to watch owners figure out/troubleshoot and repair their own equipment. Mike, you have surrounded yourself with good help and like you, aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.
Oh Boy... Mike!! What can i say lol. what an awesome entertaining video. You and Matt are just awesome working together. Love these workshop videos and seeing how things are reverse-fault found in order to fix when a manual is not available. Thanks as always for sharing and Bubba should hopefully be fixed and a running soon!
Best word to describe this video would be "Tenacity". Before you picked up this machine, someone hired a Sub Par mechanic who decided to button it all up, sell it and hope no one figures out who made all the mistakes and hid them. You're an awesome guy Mike.
Y'all do an amazing job explaining what you are doing while working through the thought process. I don't know how you edit out all the cussing??? I know my hands were cramping up while just watching you twist and turn parts in those tight spaces. OUCH! Good work gentleman. Cheers
A little dirt in my coffee this morning is always a good thing... I'm sure having a shop manual would help, but having the ability to look at parts and being able to figure out how they are supposed to work is priceless when doing repairs like this... I thought I was pretty good at things like that but... I bow down to the king Mike... Hahaha!! Excellent video!! Great job guys!!
Wow, there's a whole lot going on down there on Bubba Dump! Way above my head, which makes the video all the more interesting. Thanks Mike and Matt! Lee
Great diagnosis and great team work to get the locker back together hopefully new parts will sort the other one and second hand callipers will fix the worn down ones then you will have brakes and lockers and she will be unstoppable again :)
Great job Mike, Matt and Bill. Old Bubba will be styling and profiling before you know it. Love the way you don't let crap get you down just always moving forward.
As other have said . . . This was an epic episode. I appreciate you DIY maintenance work. I was 36 years in the military and often found myself doing whatever it takes to get my vehicles back on the road. While computers aren't for everybody, you do have one in the shop and a lifetime subscription to an electronic version of the service/repair/maintenance manuals for Bubba Dump can be had for under $50. Keep up the great work (even if you did put the caliper pistons in backward).
I like the way you work.... Take things figure out how they work, fix them and then figure out how to put it back to together. I did the same with my dozer transmission. But now I have a very good understanding of how it works and if there are problems later I'll know. Same with you. Now you know how your truck works. And just think what that would have costed if you just dropped it off a Volvo or had a mechanic come out onsite. You could have exceeded what the truck is worth in repairs pretty quick. I had CAT work on my dozer one time and learned that lesson quickly.
Poor Bubba ! He has not been treated well in the past. It was very satisfying watching how you troubleshooted and corrected the problems just using your knowledge on how it should work and how to test it. Kudos to you
It is amazing when you realize the theory and application of a device when there's no manual (or supporting documentation) and you understand it as it goes back together and works. Great diagnostics and attaining the understanding of it's operation. Lot's of help doesn't hurt and field R&R is part of the process. Fun video! Big grin for ya😁
I really enjoy these kind of videos on your channel. I appreciate how you show when things don't always go right. I know its definitely not a priority but I would like to see this truck get a paint job once its all fixed and working correctly. I think it would look great in the military green but I am partial to that color lol. Keep up the great videos amigo, I always look forward to them even though I don't comment very often.
I would love to be there to work with you on baba dumper, that kind of troubleshooting is right up my alley, there are so many variables as one thing effects another and so on. I love that kind of thing, that tickles my Timbers man. I also know that to give advice isn’t really going to help much because it’s impossible to give enough info in a short vid to give continuity to the project. Still love to try and process it out for my self. Thanks for the ride along sir.
Your ability to diagnose when missing the manuals is very good. Whoever worked on that before is the reason that truck got sold. Overall, you got a good deal because of them. (even with it being annoying as heck to put it back together right)
Definitely agree that it was not a bad idea to take the drive-the-back-axle-locker-doodad all apart because it's interesting to see the mechanism AND you'll remember how it works! Or at least the video footage will be here! Double win! 😊👍
Great video and love the way you just go for it and manage to fix the problems instead of sending it into a garage to be fixed money saving everytime keep great work up guys love watching these type of videos just shows take a look at it doesn't cost anything to do it and as you did you fixed it top marks from me 👌👌👍👍👍
That is a very well made dump truck that has been very much let down by someone that I wouldn't let service a bicycle 😆 they are brilliant dumpers and I am sure you will be very happy with it when it's sorted Mike 👌👍👍
Best video yet I was so disappointed when the video was over and I was thinking now what do I do feeling came over me. Glad you used Billy’s knowledge and never give up attitude we need these older more experienced gentlemen’s knowledge passed down before it’s to late. I’m sure when your son gets a little older he’ll be with you sucking up your years of experience and he will be much better off for it. Absolutely enjoy the friendly banter between you guys. I miss working around the shop with guys like you two it would be a privilege working with you. Your character shows why you have such good friends.
It’s a good thing you pulled that last casing off. That bearing being out could have caused a major breakdown before long. You just as well fix it all right while it’s in the shop.
@@DirtPerfect when buying well used equipment i prefer to order a batch of gaskets and re-pack it in winter time. At best, you will have a leak free piece of equipment for the next decade. At worst, you'll find some wear and tear on internals that need attention while youre inside. Either way, when youre done, youre good to go another 10 years.
There's another RUclipsr called Jpaydirt, seems to me that every time he gets another used machine he undoes every nut and bolt on the thing and fixes everything!
My son has a camera that is on the end of a wire, the whole thing is about the size around of # 14 gauge wire and 50 feet long and just plugs into a laptop computer, often thought it would be handy for you as it fits into very small places. The camera supplies its own lite.
You have the patience of a Saint. To find all that was wrong going piece by piece to ensure all was right would have made find butcher who had done this. He knew the work was not right. My hats off to you all to follow each and every step to fix it.Great job guys.
Good stuff, found the channel by accident. Love to see real world mechanics working on real world equipment. Not instragram mechanics where everything is perfect. Cool stuff. Anxious to see how Bubba Dump turns out. Keep up the good work. Very cool stuff here...
Impressive work for couple good old boys, amazing how others try to repair machinery and have no idea how, kinda like you two Lol.keep doing what your doing and carry on 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Great workshop skills there boys ,makes it worth watching . Knowing how your machines work is good knowledge to have , probably not the process you needed , but a win is a win . It all makes me wonder what else that earlier "mechanic" has " fixed". Well done all of you , for your work ingenuity and video making.
Good luck fixing bubba dump Mr Dirt Perfect
You just never know until you get in there. Great job guys.
Totally enjoy the knowledge and hard work you guys do to repair these machines...Mike...Matt..and Aaron are a fantastic team...

Glad you decided to take it apart DP because it will save you a lot of headaches down the road
Thanks heaps glad Matt turned up you pair make me laugh thanks for that I don't laugh hardly at all ever cheers

I learned it the hard way in the 90's.
In addition to road construction, there may be deep mud.
Then I always drove with these connected, except on the road.
Definite progress on Bubba Dump.

Amasing to see you and your Imagination at Work on such complex things really well done and Thank You .
Good morning guys from Siesta Key Florida
The impossible you do immediately miracles take a little longer. Good video, as usual.😁
And the possible...that with them can be an interesting video too. They can figure out a hard way to do easy!
nice of bill to come thru for ya. now the new train reck. hope you can get needed parts. nice job. cheers

At least you seem to have fun at it!
Love it

Loved the vedio and I have faith that you will have Bubba like new and ready to go to work in no time ❤️
nice to now know what and how to be able to fix but not so much fixing some one's bad repair . Well done so far you can dowit
Hey Mike, really interesting subject today. I reckon the brass/bronze block may have fell out as you removes the top gear assembly from the housing. Check your video at 19:35. I heard what I initially thought was a ball bearing but watching it again looks like it might be the brass rubbing block falling out of the fork down into the case..
It’s in there
Well done . You all keep on impressing me. Good to see a job done right. Once you finished s he be like a new one at hha lf the price. Great work men
Thanks
