My mom has been a nurse for her entire adult life, now retired after 45 years in nursing. She was really worried when she saw how dangly the hoodie drawstrings were while you were working on the big machinery. She has seen the results of them being caught in machinery many times over the years. A broken neck is a likely outcome. Tuck those drawstrings inside the neck of the hoodie, don't let them dangle. She wishes you good luck!

    • @gullreefclub

Personally have had to cut a friend loose when his drawstring got caught in the fan blade of a car fortunately it was a clutch fan and he didn’t get sucked fully into fan blade and had the presence of mind to pull the coil wire which gave him a nice shock but killed the engine before anything seriously bad did happen besides needing to change his shorts) Myself when I had long hair and was leaving work so I didn’t have in a ponytail got my hair caught in a fan belt when I stopped to listen to a noise on a car another mechanic was working on. Let’s just say that is a painful way they to get bad haircut. Lastly wrist watches and rings of any kind are also definite no no’s as is pens, pencils cigarette lighters in shirt pockets, I have stories about all of the above and none of them good and all causing physical injuries and some serious and permanent.

    • @localcrew
      @localcrew Год назад +13

Yep. I wear hoodies almost exclusively to work in when it’s cold. First thing I do with a new one is pull the drawstring out or cut it off if it’s sewn in place. And don’t let neck scarves dangle. I did sawmill work for an older guy whose dad worked at a circle mill. The wife gave him a silk scarf for Christmas and it wrapped around a shaft and decapitated him. Silk is virtually unbreakable. Gotta be careful.

Now that there are rubber wedding bands I hope there are fewer ring fingers being DE-stripped!! 🤔 Anyone working around machinery should either remove their rings or use rubber ones; hopefully the first time you snap your ring will be the only "experience" you need to learn from. 😳 👍

Mike-Captain Kleeman just gave us all a peek into your shop while checking to see if the wheels & tires from Sgt. Dan would bolt-onto the Big Red GMC dump truck, so I am thinking that you have already installed some custom wheels & tires on Sgt. Dan and it will soon be revealed to your fans.
We were able to see the fresh paint on a small section of Sgt. Dan's front-end - I don't know how you were able to keep a new paint job secret, given that it is a time-consuming job to clean, prep and paint anything so large. I'm going to guess that you may have engaged a professional to paint it off-site in a clean facility with a filtered make-up air system.
I am still amazed with your successful DIY Plow-Build Project too and am looking forward to watching you use it on that extra-large tile job that originally inspired you to build it.
    QUESTIONS:
    (1) When will that big tile project's video post?
    (2) Have you ever considered including the date/time on your videos to let us know when it was done for historical reference?
That would help clarify the situation when you mention the weather being unusual for the time of year.
    (3) Can we *please* see more drone footage that shows the "big picture" perspective when appropriate on larger jobs?
Thanks, take care, be safe - because a lot of people depend on you - locally/regionally as a unique and reliable service people depend on, as well as your global YT fans who depend on you for their "fix" of excavation projects that are punctuated by the witty observations and discourse between yourself and Matthew, Aaron, Farmer Chris, Clint from C&C and everyone else.
BTW, this is the second time I've watched you call Matt "Aaron" while working in the shop. Are you just missing him badly, or is there something else about Aaron that you are obsessing about that you wish to share with us? Careful, your "bromance" may make the wife jealous!

Well, you have documented my weekly jobs ;-) Can assure you have figured out the same way to do things that we figured. When doing a hub seal, plenty of grease is the key!! And one more hefty grunt without the torque wrench and you will be good. As said we look after 14 of them, yours looks a little older. Check on the condition of the steering ram bushes into the back yoke, when they go they make a mess, couple of hours and very few $ saves loads of pain. I heard your comment working under the skip on the hand brake disc LOL . Stay safe

Free tip , (when handling big and heavy tires) cut a couple pieces of plywood into 3 foot squares, lay one piece of plywood on the ground where the tire goes, coat with cheap grease. Then lay the other piece of plywood halfway on the first piece of plywood. Now roll the tire onto the plywood and slide into position.

Nice job! Damn those parts are stout! Which of course means heavy.

Wow that was a fun feel good video! You and Matt work so well together and get stuff done. As silly as it sounds, I was talking at you when you were installing the drive shafts. While they were out on the floor, you should have replaced and tested the grease nipples before installing them. I think a couple of them looked like they were not functional but overall you did a good job. I'll be sharing this with my Son and grandsons for their nightly "Fun with Mike and Matt " video. Cheers from Canada.
