It really depends on the environment the range extender is deployed in and the strength of the router's wireless signal. This is why we suggest placing the extender where there is strong signal and is between where the router is at and where the service is needed.

Nope. I followed these steps, but as with other "how to" videos you skipped the problematic step. The password. I've tried on several devices to use our router password and it doesn't accept it. So I went ahead and downloaded the app (shouldn't be necessary, so I'm annoyed). When I went to the App, I had two different places to create passwords. Always I used my router password. When I got to the review of the extender network attributes, I found that the extender had created its own password with about four lines of random characters it created. Nothing about the WPS button process lets me know what password TP-link has decided to assign to the extender. I could copy the password-from-hell down, and tell people this is the second password (from hell) that they must use to access the extender. Not OK.
Exactly. Ridiculous! This should be a slam dunk by just pressing the WPS button and having seamless set up, like everything else using WPS. No thanks. Boxed back up within 10 minutes and sent back. Will buy something that actually works like it should.
The extender does not create its own password. That is impossible. The extender under default settings is an open network. Once you have matched the extender to your Host network it will be connecting via that network and its password. If the password if not accepted you will see a notification as to why, such as not correct. When using the WPS method its even simpler it copies everything with the push of a button, if your router does WPS. What could be the concern is that your router is blocking the MAC of the extender, which is not something a how to video is going to cover. We would suggest contacting support if you are still having issues.

Range Extenders don't improve speed. They improve range. In most cases due to the nature of how they communicate in the network you actually should see a slightly reduced speed so for the speed to be the same that is actually good.
We actually recommend a full 30 count. This is because often when a person counts 10 seconds its not actually 10 seconds. If that does not apply to you then we would also suggest making sure you feel the button in the reset hole depress. Another common occurrence of failure to reset is that a user is using a reset tool to large and the button inside does not depress. We suggest using a paperclip or tooth pick.

that would either be the TL-WA850RE or TL-WA855RE and yes it would work for both.
I have tried using the app on my android for TP RE300. I have four lights, the router is linked to the extender, but my app says "The current main router does not support OneMesh." I know my deadzone is still dead. Do I need to make my router support OneMesh in order to make the extender work?
Only TP-Link routers are compatible with OneMesh, and then only specific routers. www.tp-link.com/us/onemesh/product-list/ If you do have a router that supports OneMesh you need to enable the feature.

What Is The Maximum Distance The Range Extender Can Be From The Router When Connecting It (The Connecting Process)?
It really depends on the environment the range extender is deployed in and the strength of the router's wireless signal. This is why we suggest placing the extender where there is strong signal and is between where the router is at and where the service is needed.

If its disabled in the Range Extender holding the reset for 30 seconds will default it and resolve that, but likely this means your router's WPS function is disabled.
@@TPLINKTECH Yes, I checked that when I press the WPS button at the back of the router, the LED did not turn on. Before changing my wifi password however, the wifi extender works. A range extender would not show up in your device manager because it is not an network or USB adapter. The Range extender is a hardware extension of your router's wireless signal. If you are having issues that this video does not help with please contact support.
Can you change the wa850re to 5ghz
No the WA850RE is only a 2.4GHz device
@@TPLINKTECHit comes up as the same name but with ext next to it but the password isn’t correct?
@@drewmccosh7521 Range Extenders after configuration will use the same network password as the host network, regardless of what the SSID is. Check to see what the RE light is doing. How many lights in the extender should be lit up for a solid connection, all 4, or 5?

Haha Semper Fi those terms stick with us forever. No sneakers on Paris Island! Thank you for the information. I will do it twice. I wanted his Xbox to pick up the 5g and our cameras to pick up the 2.4Ghz. @@TPLINKTECH
Hello Thankyou for the helpful video. How do you reset that password for the tp link WiFi extender
The only password that should be related to the extender is the network password. This password would be the same password that your host router uses. So if you change that password you would just need to reset the extender and then reconfigure it to update the password.
I have this and it seems to be configured correctly. It has done nothing to speed up my wi-fi! My speed results are the same with this and without it being plugged in! Any advice?
Range Extenders don't improve speed. They improve range. In most cases due to the nature of how they communicate in the network you actually should see a slightly reduced speed so for the speed to be the same that is actually good.
Hi my route password is not accepted on the device yet I’ve checked to make sure it’s correct. What do I do

WPS maybe disabled. You can try to setup via the Web UI or Tether in that case.
how to connect TP link to new Wifi...I resetted ..kept the reset button pressed for 10 sec...but it stills remmebers the old wifi...help...
No matter how far or how close I plug the RE220 in from the AC1200 router I get the "too far (red)" light.
That is not an indicator of how far you are from the extender. That is an indicator that the extender is too far from your router.
beg pardon? Isn't that what I said?

Hi it says for me connect but no Internet. Other times its fine
That is usually a result of the router having a MAC filtering or ACL enabled. I would suggest checking the router to allow the MAC of the RE
