Is it possible to connected another TP-link repeater after an TP-link repeater connected to AP, by only the WPS function? if yes, how? for example, Router→ Repeater A → Repeater B → Mobile phone thanks for answering
Possible but the internet through the 2nd repeater would not be usable. This is because of how extenders work. They are a half duplex device that can only talk one way at a time. To the router or to the client traditionally. Add another extender and it just furthers this chain. Also extenders by nature because of this half duplex backhaul generally cut your speed up to half. Add another extender and you double that reduction. What you would want in an event like this is a Mesh system.

They could be interfering with each other. I would suggest resetting the extender and reconfiguring it. Remember two its. 1. Make sure the extender is being linked to the router and not your mate's extender. 2. Give your extender a different name than the Router or Mate's. Additionally if at all possible have the extenders on opposite side of the router. If that doesn't help I would suggest that you consider switching out the router and extenders for a Mesh system.
It depends entirely on if its communicating with the host network or not. It should be relatively quick if the communication handshake completes. If it doesn't you may have to look at the settings or try the Tether or Web UI setup methods.
I bought tve re550 and it will arive in 2 days. I want to plug a lan kable for my ps5 with the re550 but is the signal stronger with the lan kable or not?

Only TP-Link routers are compatible with OneMesh, and then only specific routers. www.tp-link.com/us/onemesh/product-list/ If you do have a router that supports OneMesh you need to enable the feature.
Does this just put the same ssid name at the repeater (with the user having to log in at both router and repeater wifi ssid) or it also allow to just connect at router (or repeater) ssid wifi and with it be conected at both?
An extender can do both. You can configure it to use the same SSID or you can give it a unique SSID. It act as an extension of the router and your clients will connect to either or. Which ever is the closest and or strongest signal.
@@TPLINKTECH So this means if the router has the ssid name routerabc with password abcabc and the extender has also the ssid name routerabc with password abcabc, I can just conect to router or extender ssid (and write the password) and I wont need to write the password again (for the first time) when near the other equipment. thanks for answering
@@TPLINKTECH TP-Link thanks for answering. One more question, is the second repeater can be connected to the first one by simply using the same WPS button on the first repeater ? Or I have to connect it to the first repeater by computer setting ?
(I've already bought one of the repeater but the WIFI signal at my top floor (4th floor, concrete) is still extremely unstable and I'm thinking if I should buy one more as the second repeater to improve the signal, since it Sims like its the easiest way to just buy one more and extend the signal.)
Thanks again for your answer anyway
@@piglauhk1 Honestly we aren't sure. We would recommend to use Powerline instead. This will provide you a better reception. IF you absolutely want to do double REs we would ask that you contact support@tp-link.com and request assistance.
@@TPLINKTECH !!!!!! I actually forget the line option...after connecting the first repeater to AP by network cable and relocate the repeater ,the problem is solved, thanks
It’s been working perfect for me out now that I received a new router it won’t connect to my device
You will need to factory default it by holding the Reset button for about 30 seconds. Then try the WPS method again. If that does not work make sure WPS is enabled on the router or try one of our other videos that show how to setup via the Web or Tether app.
My TP link connector won’t connect to internet. I will successfully connect to the router using the tether app. However when I click on the device it says that there isn’t any connection
You will want to check your router to make sure there is no feature like MAC filtering that is blocking it.
@@TPLINKTECH thank you for replying. I figured out I needed to restart my router. Quite annoying having to do this every month or so but it’s not too much of an inconvenience.
When I bought the extender and a new network popped up same name as mine but with _EXT at the end should I connect to that one?
That would be the SSID for the extender. When you want to connect to the extender use that SSID and the password of the main network.
@@TPLINKTECH thanks
Is the WPS setup just for once? Because during night time the power of modem & router is all off, then at morning when it turn on will the extender auto connected?
WPS configures the extender so as long as the reset button is not pushed the extender should reconnect without any issues when repowered.
@@TPLINKTECH Thanks for the info.
@@TPLINKTECH, I have a bizarre question. I didn't have to press anything on my router at all. I downloaded the app and went through the steps that way and it's working. Is that because my router is Wireless? Like it just picked up on the tp-link extender without needing to press a wps button. Just trying to make sure it's good, lol. Thanks in advance! Also will my other devices such as my Smart TV'S and Alexa devices automatically connect for a stronger signal or? Cheers
Very helpful, Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi I’ve got a question, my housemate has installed his own extender(from another brand) and mine doesn’t work anymore, what can I do??
They could be interfering with each other. I would suggest resetting the extender and reconfiguring it. Remember two its. 1. Make sure the extender is being linked to the router and not your mate's extender. 2. Give your extender a different name than the Router or Mate's. Additionally if at all possible have the extenders on opposite side of the router. If that doesn't help I would suggest that you consider switching out the router and extenders for a Mesh system.
How long does the extender take to turn Solid on ?
It depends entirely on if its communicating with the host network or not. It should be relatively quick if the communication handshake completes. If it doesn't you may have to look at the settings or try the Tether or Web UI setup methods.
I bought tve re550 and it will arive in 2 days.
I want to plug a lan kable for my ps5 with the re550 but is the signal stronger with the lan kable or not?
That all depends on the environment and placement. Make sure the extender is placed in an open and unobstructed area where there is a strong signal.
So once I connect everything do I connect to the top link extender or my normal WiFi?
The WPS method should set the extender to the same network name as your host network. If it does not and created an extended version of it you would simply need to switch when needed.
I have tried using the app on my android for TP RE300. I have four lights, the router is linked to the extender, but my app says "The current main router does not support OneMesh." I know my deadzone is still dead. Do I need to make my router support OneMesh in order to make the extender work?
Only TP-Link routers are compatible with OneMesh, and then only specific routers. www.tp-link.com/us/onemesh/product-list/ If you do have a router that supports OneMesh you need to enable the feature.
If I use this WPS method which wifi connection and password do I connect to? Will it be my usual one?
WPS is a 1-1 handshake between the client and you don't have to worry about inputting the password.
Thanks for the information.
@@exedeath Yes the extender can clone the SSID of the router. Or it can use a inquire SSID. The password will always be the same the host network from the router though.
Have replaced my router and now my TLWA850RE extender does not produce a signal- power and wireless lights are lit, but RE light blinks on and off if button is pressed. What to do? Reset button? WPS reset from router? Thanks.
Yes you need to reset the range extender and reconfigure it, as the source device has changed.

How do I connect the powerline adapter to my modem without the WPS setup?
This is not for a powerline. Wired Powerline: ruclips.net/video/8ozUiXnbUl4/видео.html Wireless Powerline: ruclips.net/video/PDLC6Ehai-c/видео.html
Something I hate about these things is that if you decided to change your internet plan or something you can’t switch it to the new connection which sucks
Range Extenders are connected to a wireless network not an ISP or ISP service plan. As long as the SSID and Password of the linked network do not change the extender will remain connected. However if you do change those items then you will need to reset the extender and reconfigure it.
Is it possible to connect clients do RE via WPS? How to do it?
It may differ by your extender but the information is available in the RE's UG found on TP-Link.com

What Is The Maximum Distance The Range Extender Can Be From The Router When Connecting It (The Connecting Process)?
It really depends on the environment the range extender is deployed in and the strength of the router's wireless signal. This is why we suggest placing the extender where there is strong signal and is between where the router is at and where the service is needed.

Okay so then when 2 networks of wifi show how do I know the password ? I don’t understand
I’ve got all the lights showing but that extender doesn’t show up when i try to connect to it in settings.
If you used the WPS method the extender will likely not show up. In most cases it means the extender copied the router's ssid
@@TPLINKTECH so, how to fix that?
@@rifqyzainul1019 there really isn't a need to. You should just jump between the extender and router as needed without any manual interference. If you want to you just need to log into the extender and change the extender's SSID. Support can help you with that.
How do I connect the extender to the router if the router does not have WPS button but has numbers instead
In that case you would not be able to use the WPS option. You will need to use the setup via our Tether App or Web UI. Both setup options have videos on this channel as well.
i have tp link wa-855 re, my tp link light are on and not blinking, but didn't show on wifi list. i restart many times but still doesnt show on wifi list
After it is setup it may not show up on the Wifi list. If it's cloned your router's SSID that is all you are going to see that one SSID
I don't understand why but it doesn't show up in my wifi laptop settings? The lights are on,but the net still keeps breaking off
WPS method assigns the same SSID as your router so it would not show up as a separate network in your laptop settings.
My tp link ac1200 says "Your WPS functions is disabled". I cant use the push button to connect my wifi extender to it please help.
If its disabled in the Range Extender holding the reset for 30 seconds will default it and resolve that, but likely this means your router's WPS function is disabled.
@@TPLINKTECH Yes, I checked that when I press the WPS button at the back of the router, the LED did not turn on. Before changing my wifi password however, the wifi extender works. So it shouldn't be the the extender problem. Also, I did not research how to properly use the WPS button at the back of the router so the first time I tried to connect the extender, I held down the WPS button for a long time. I think I might have accidentally reset it. Is there a way to change it back? Thanks.
@@s34n2 If the WPS function is disabled in the router then the button will not work. The light should come on if the button is pressed. If you changed your WiFi password the extender will lose connection. If WPS is not working or is disabled on the router you will need to turn it back on or use one of the other methods to set up the extender. As for resetting the router by holding the WPS button too long. That can only happen if the WPS is also your Reset.
I have connected to the extender to the router but now the extender is prompting me for a password from my devices. I never even set up a password. What am I supposed to do here?
Once the extender is connected to a host router the password of the host network will be the password for the extender's network
Does these work with any routers
Yes, depending on the model of extender your router will need support for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or both.

how to connect TP link to new Wifi...I resetted ..kept the reset button pressed for 10 sec...but it stills remmebers the old wifi...help...
We actually recommend a full 30 count. This is because often when a person counts 10 seconds its not actually 10 seconds. If that does not apply to you then we would also suggest making sure you feel the button in the reset hole depress. Another common occurrence of failure to reset is that a user is using a reset tool to large and the button inside does not depress. We suggest using a paperclip or tooth pick.
