    Thanks for the information. I was frustrated with my network connection for my game console while I am browsing through the PS store streaming trailers, streaming PS Plus games or watching movies on a streaming service, so I thought about looking into a wifi extender, and luckily I found some at a good price, so I recommend TP-Link AC750 Wifi range extender to anyone. Many thanks.

      Btw, I actually skipped the 5GHz setup because I didn't think it was available for me, but it was after all and the device set it up for me automatically using the same info I put in for the 2.4 setup, so that was cool. Also, I should mention that on my second speed test I actually saw the needle get up to 43 mbps for download (on my erratic, premium hotspot account). In the past it rarely got above 30. Upload speed so far is below 8. At times in the past, upload speed was regularly above 20 while download speed was between 4 and 15. I never know what it will be. Speeds are higher late at night so I'll test it again tonight.

    • @nickscomputerfix
      @nickscomputerfix  3 года назад

      Thanks. Glad you liked it. Extender location is the primary key to getting the best signal quality and most distance out of any extender not just this one. You might experience interference problems, cut offs, signal drops, or no signal at all, for example: thick walls or floors, other electronic equipment or extender might be to far away from router...etc. Test until you find the best sweet spot somewhere mid way between your Primary Router and your Wifi device connecting to the extender, then plug it into an AC outlet and test signal quality. This will give you the best consistently solid and strongest signal quality from the extender to your wifi device.

      Best location for the Extender is about mid way between your WiFi device and your primary wireless router. With dual bands you get a choice. 5GHz will give you faster data rate speeds for shorter distances and 2.4GHz will give you farther distances at slower data rate speeds.

    Hello. I never thought of looking for the item by hitting the internet icon button.
    Anyway to backtrack a bit.
    I bought a tp-link extender yesterday. I bought it to see if it would make good internet speed more consistent. I have been using a repeater. That and my computer are upstairs. The router and a booster that came with the router are downstairs.
    I have no wi-fi built into the computer. So I use a Usb thingie instead.
    If I plug out the repeater, and just the use wi-fi "dongle," I see the name of my internet provider and tp-link extender when i press internet icon at the bottom right of my screen. If I click the tp-extender link, it won't connect.
    If I plug in the repeater as well as the extender in , I get an additional option ie. the name of my provider-ext. Clicking that does give me a connection.
    Both the repeater and the extender have slots for an ethernet connection.
    If I connect my computer to the repeater through an ethernet cable. the computer recognises it as ethernet. Although the no wire going directly from the computer to the downstairs router. 3 lights are powered on
    If i I leave the repeater plugged in, but connect the ethernet cable to the extender, a second light comes on the extender. But the computer only recognises it as Wi-Fi.
    Only two lights are powered on.
    But although I see the internet as being on, It won't even connect to speedtest.net.
    When I try to acess tplinkrepeater.net, i get an error message.
    Sorry it's all very complicated. ☺
    Trying to boil it down.
    Using extender and wif dongle only. I can test not out the extender, although one light is dispaying.

    This might be a stupid question. I'm trying to extend the range for one device, a wireless security camera that is far from my router. I just want to extend the signal to that camera. Does the TP-link act as a "dumb Terminal"? Meaning, not having to connect to the "_EXT" wifi?

    • @nickscomputerfix
      @nickscomputerfix  4 года назад

      For security you should connect it up to _EXT wifi with a password. If the security camera has a Ethernet port you can use CAT5 cable and connect it up to the Extenders LAN port.

    I just got this new TP-Link AC1200 model that looks exactly like this one in your video. At first, I set it up using Option TWO with WPS buttons. It showed blue indicator lights, but shorty I realized that my laptop doesn't have a good internet connection even though it's right beside the Extender. Now, watching your video I realized that once it's plugged I should see both SSID bends so I can set it up on my computer. I CAN'T SEE any SSID from extender! What am I doing wrong? Now, I am not sure if my Extender is doing any good at all even though all the indicator, lights that should be on, are BLUE. Any help would be appreciated!

      I suggest trying a Extender reset and then going through my video steps again: 1) Locate the Extender closer to your Router. 2) Perform a repeater reset by using the RESET button (press/push and hold for a real 12-14 seconds) while it's plugged into a wall outlet and power is on, then release the RESET button and after 10 seconds go through the setup steps again as shown in my video.

    • @nickscomputerfix
      @nickscomputerfix  4 года назад +1

      Extender location is the primary key to getting the best signal quality and most distance out of any extender. You might experience interference problems, for example: thick walls or floors, other electronic equipment or extender might be to far away from router...etc. Test until you find the best sweet spot somewhere mid way between your Primary Router and your Wifi device connecting to the extender. This will give you the best consistently solid and strongest signal quality from the extender to your wifi device.
