I don't think resin Fulgrim means we won't get a plastic one, the forge world character series are a lot more "realistic" than the 40k plastic ones as they tend to be more cartoonish you can see this especially with Angrons new model

We got two Lion in FW Resin and GW Plastic. They were only about a year or so apart. I'm also fully expecting resin Magnus, Mortarian, Angron and maybe Perty in the new run of "Ascended" Primarchs. So this doesn't exclude the 40k option.

    • @Gabdube
      @Gabdube Год назад +2

As far as this fiscal year is concerned, we might get 40k rules for the FW model. But we are certainly not going to get a second Fulgrim SKU release from GW until next year, or else it'd cannibalize sales for this FW product launch (which needs to recoup its costs before the next report to shareholders).

@@Gabdube I don't know why anyone would be expecting him now anyways. Look at the gaps between Magnus/Mortarian/Angron. We just got Angron months ago. So apply the Morty>Angron gap and were not getting another traitor Primarch until late 2025 at the earliest.

@@demonic_myst4503 Agreed, in fact being very cynical, this is a model to 'test the waters' and see how popular a plastic Fulgrim would be and whether they should release a 'Codex: Emperor's Children'. Slaanesh has always been the 'red headed stepchild' of the Chaos Gods with often getting the least amount of focus due to the sexual nature of the themes surrounding it. Even in the Warhammer MMO they almost completely removed anything Slaanesh related beyond including Daemonettes...
Heck remember when, for a period, GW basically tried to completely bury Slaanesh as a thing? Like for a while they tried to be a more 'kid focused' (like releasing 'kid friendly' novel series etc.), they completely removed Slaanesh as an entity from Age of Sigmar etc. It was only after a change in leadership that they bought them back and we've seen them switch to a more 'adult collectors' focus.

What’s going to inform 40K Fulgrim design more is how Ascended Angron, Magnus and Mortarion come out. If there’s a blend of 30k aesthetics with the pure daemonic mutations (ie wings) in their design then 40K Fulgrim could be radically different from even the Daemonic 30k sculpt. I wouldn’t be deflated, just patient. I can honestly see EC coming in 10th, TS came in late 7th, DG came in 8th and WE came in late 9th. Late 10th seems ideal for them.

Can't deny that fan expectations were a big problem here. GW said a Primarch was coming for 30K, and there's never been confirmation of a plastic EC range happening, just one or two allusions to Fulgrim in-lore, the same old rumours that people have been parroting since 2016, and people seeing a pattern when GW doesn't always follow through with those anyway (remember Codex: Alien Hunters? Me neither). But here we are.
And I'm glad Fulgrim's in resin/by FW, honestly, for all the medium's issues (which are mostly - but not entirely - FW quality control issues, not resin issues, honestly). There'd just be too many design compromises to make him work in plastic, and he'd probably end up looking way more cartoonish if he had been. IMO, the plastic daemon primarchs look like they stepped out of a comic book, thanks to the sculpting style GW has moved towards since they started doing all their stuff in CAD-designed plastic (which I'm sure has a lot to do with it working better in plastic than more organic styles). Fulgrim, on the other hand, looks like he slithered out of a Renaissance painting made by someone who was way too fond of hallucinogens, since they can sculpt without having to worry about whether an overhanging detail will snag on the mould and break off.

I don't understand the point of this video. The model is clearly for the Horus Heresy and is part of a new range of Primarch models for the game, of course it was going to be resin. When the Emperor's Children come to 40k there will certainly be a plastic model.
Fulgrim being in resin was a pleasant surprise for many Heresy players, because it means we will be getting resin sculpts for each of the demon primarchs which fit the aesthetic of the game better than the 40k plastics.

People assume a corporation is a singular being, able to respond as things change, like a person. In reality, it's a multi-part monolith, not always aware of what one part is doing, and making decisions off of slices of input. This latest release is likely a result of one part not looking at what the other parts were doing.

    Cons:
    - Not for 40k
    - Resin
    - He wing too big he gonna break
    Pros:
The door is open to make an even more twisted and daemonic Fulgrim in the future
This is Fulgrim at the end of the Heresy, so 10,000 years is plenty of time for him to transform into something even more hideously beautiful
I wanna see something absolutely over the top and extreme
Give him a gorgeous, perfectly sculpted face, or a mask reflective of that former appearance, on a demented, hideous Keeper of Secrets body with an enormous coiled Naga tail
Make his model ripe with intricately sculpted fine detail, while simultaneously being something genuinely unsettling to look at
    Just as Slaanesh would want

I honestly don't feel like this release conflicts with plastic fulgrim. I wouldn't expect the EC range to get released before 2025, or more likely 2026 anyways. Until then they're going to release multiple Ascended models. I don't know how many ascended primarchs there are going to be, i assumed its only going to be chaos primarchs, that ascended during the heresy. But that might be wrong.
So i feel like, it might actually make sense to do fulgrim first, to get the maximum time inbetween of plastic and resin fulgrim. When fulgrim comes out, this model might be 2 or 3 years old.
Also on a design-perspective, it would make sense to start working on plastic fulgrim at the end of the design-process of resin fulgrim. They now have a design to build upon.

I have a feeling that 2025 is going to see a big release for Aldari, Drukari and Slanesh in 40K in some sort of big story line. The Earliest any of these will be out is summer 24 but I think they will hold off a bit longer as a lot of minis are needed for all 3 factions. No proof of this just my gut feeling is all.

  • @Meuduso1

I honestly don't think that the EC as a faction are dead, not at all. I strongly believe that even GW in all their....interesting ways of thinking at times won't just abandon a clearly established pattern with the main four Chaos Legions, started off by the Thousand Sons in 7th, continued by the Death Guard in 8th and last updated with the World Eaters at the end of 9th so making EC the thing at the end of 10th only makes sense.
That being said the Fulgrim reveal was incredibly surprising, them saying that it's only HH makes me think that there's no reason why there shouldn't be a model in 40k but more importantly, what the hell is it gonna look like now? The 40k Fulgrim would be a daemon Primarch 10 thousand years later, to be fair most of that time he spent in the warp where there is no time, on his own personal pleasure planet but still, maybe the model he will get in 40k differs from the 30k one a lot. The 30k Fulgrim is how I think most people imagine Daemon Primarch Fulgrim to look like so what if they go and turn up the daemon WAY more with him, higher levels than Angron

Okay I want to be blunt: if you want to establish the rule of the demon primarchs and their respective legions being remade, Magnus is the exception, as he came long before the rework of his thousand sons.
But lets face what we have: Mortarion and the Death Guard kicking of 8th. In 9th we got ne thousand sons and end of 9th we got the World Eater rework.
So its probably safe to assume that Emperors Children will be getting their new stuff about 2/3 into 10th.
So about the time players usually get less new stuff, because they know the next edition is lurking around the corner the upcoming months.
Also this Fulgrim model pretty much breaks it to even the last of us, that HH is a completly different game.

It definitely wouldn’t have been as bad if they went with any of the other Primarchs, especially if it’s the one that I think should have been next, Lorgar. He has rules for his ascended form (I think, but I’ve been wrong before), he isn’t one of the 4 monogod Primarchs, and he isn’t the only monogod Primarch that hasn’t gotten a plastic release alongside his legion. GW should have realized that releasing Daemon Fulgrim in 40k takes priority over releasing him in 30k for just about everyone.
Also, as an extra note, I say this as someone who dislikes Word Bearers quite a bit.

Going to be honest, I thought Fulgrim already had a model, so when I saw the announcement a few days ago I thought they just updated it. I had no idea there was so much controversy over it until this informative video. Please note that my ignorance comes from the fact that I only pay attention to the model ranges for factions I care about (such as Tyranids, Tau and Chaos Knight) and ignore the rest as they don't interest me.

I feel like anything in resin from Forgeworld should either be a display model or something massive like the Titans. Plastics should always be your tabletop standard for play pieces. I suppose I don't have a dog in this fight, as I don't play Chaos. But I dream of a return of Corvus from the warp. And I'd rather he return in plastic for play and resin for display. Give us a choice to play. But ultimately I also don't play tournaments. And I have 3D ptinters. So maybe I'll find decent proxies I can print or buy and just move on.

A new Primarch model from FW has been in the roapmap for Horus Heresy for a long time. This was no surprise, and for me it's the correct choice. 30k is moving into a new era, and with the setting being set more in the later stages of the heresy now it makes sense to release the Daemon Primarchs.
I might also be biased since I prefer 30k over 40k, but a lot of 40k players in this case are acting like spoiled brats. God forbid that GW gives some love to other games than 40k for once...

The decision makes total sense to me - a plastic Fulgrim would only accompany a full Emperor's Children release with a codex, multiple plastic kits and a ton of lore upheaval. The main studio already has its work cut out with every single codex needing an update for 10th ed and a full range reboot for the Nids. FW meanwhile has a full plastic core Heresy range with plenty of resin upgrades for EC and is focusing in on the Seige. Of the major protagonists daemon Fulgrim is the only one not covered by an existing mini except for the Emperor himself. Bottom line is this was exactly the right time for Heresy Fulgrim and exactly the wrong time for him in 40k

I liked your recap of the rumor and trends, I am a little let down he wasn't for 40k, we had a similar release with Lion el johnson, I remember almost the same disappointment when the horus heresy model was released. I felt the excitement in the community when Lion El Johnson reached 40k, I think they are missing out on a lot by not releasing more of these kits. If they want to justify the price of these kits, there should be more of an aggressive release cycle. They can afford to take the hit at this point. I'm going to focus on my hobby projects and keep on keeping on.
