      One retired aircraft that cannot be missed would be the A-6 Intruder. Along with that, the A4 Skyhawk had a very noteworthy career. If you do an "Experimental" section, you could include aircraft such as the A2D, F5D, XF10F, XF8U-3, and of course the F2Y. But do whatever you want, don't overwork yourself. And thanks for the great vids.

    A couple years ago my dad, some of the people who he knew on base, and I got to privately tour a C-5M Super Galaxy while I was at Westover AFB in Massachusetts. It was in the hangar being prepared for upgrades, which were confidential. It was one that hadn't been fitted with whatever new technology that was going on it, and so we were able to check it out. This video doesn't do it justice for how big that thing really is. I got to sit in the pilot seat and check out lots of the interior. We were probably in there for an hour and a half exploring it. Later, we got to stand on the side of the runway as one took off. That was really awesome, aside from the 90-some degree heat that day.

    B-52 has been in service for over 60 years -- the grandsons are flying the B-52's their grandfathers flew. The KC-135 and the other variants, C-135, E-3, E-6 (EC-135), E-8 , and many others are based off the Boeing 707. Three planes that will never "die" KC-135 (family), B-52, and the C-130 (family).

      Actually, it's more correct for a T-38 than an F-5. It's incorrectly shown here with only a single seat cockpit, but everything else about the model, the wings, wingtips, lack of leading edge extensions, shape of the intake duct, shape where the front of the tail meets the fuselage, etc., are all correct for a T-38 vs F-5.

    Someone's gonna have to explain to me why U2's are still in action rather than SR-71's...

    • @TheJBerg
      @TheJBerg 4 года назад +6

      Cost vs results.
      SR-71 was a U-2 that was immune to AA missiles. SR-71 got replaced with Satilite imagery. U-2 still in use getting custom high resolution shots, but where manned flight still a requirement vs a drone.

    • @MericanAdventures
      @MericanAdventures 4 года назад

      SR-71's were expensive to fly/maintain and U2's are much cheaper to fly/maintain, this is pretty much the number 1 reason. I worked them for 10 years (91 to 96 and 02 to 07) and they're more capable than you know and can do things you'd never expect. UAV's (aka Drones) are not capable of doing the U2's primary mission yet.

    • @Locutus494

      Actually, it's more correct for a T-38 than an F-5. It's incorrectly shown here with only a single seat cockpit, but everything else about the model, the wings, wingtips, lack of leading edge extensions, shape of the intake duct, shape where the front of the tail meets the fuselage, etc., are all correct for a T-38 vs F-5.
