Actually, you can get a tornado/hurricane/ rider. I have one with my insurance. It's not expensive where I live (AZ) because tornadoes are rare, but we do get them. In Tornado Alley, this type of rider is probably more expensive, but definitely worth it.

Crazy how in matter of seconds you can loose everything you worked hard for. I hope there were no casualties.

Seems like we would have the technology to design "tornado proof" homes.

Arizona We do have the materials to build tornado proof homes.

Especially since they have the technology to make tornados.

Um, tornadoes are made from Nature, not man nor technology.

I agree too. I see mostly EF3, but I saw other pics elsewhere that left shallow rubble on concrete foundations. They weren't wiped clean but dang close. I also observed the tornado looking very capable of EF4 at one point, but I have no clue if it damaged structures at that time.

Yep. I have it, and don't live in a tornado-prone area. It's good to have, because you never know.

Not trying to bring in this topic but I hate when people say they thank God and prayed for protection and he protected them. What about the others who prayed and died? They don't get to tell us how they prayed but God let them die. But hey, there's worse things than thanking God right? Just glad to see survivors

And they will just rebuild crappy housing instead of tornado proof homes for about the same cost and Texas is the home of the institute that teaches how to build tornado proof houses for the same cost as crappy houses.

The type of home you build is dependent on how much insurance you have, and how much you can afford. If these people don't have or have very little insurance, they're SOL. Many people drop their insurance when their mortgage is paid off. It's stupid, but they do it, and something like this comes along they're F'd.

no such thing as a tornado proof home. take any one of them in the path of a wedge like the 2 that did this damage (among multiple weaker tornadoes) and *poof* they're just as gone. only thing that will save you here is shelter underground

He is right, prayer does bring God's protection over you. God says, "When two or more come together in His name He is amidst thee" (Matthew 18:20). That happened to my family when I was a little girl. It was very early in the morning when a massive tornado hit our community, turning daylight pitch dark. We prayed while others were taking photographs of it because it was so huge. However, the tornado appeared to have paused for a few seconds and then started moving in a different direction, but the most shocking thing came after the tornado. Back when I was a little girl, there were no computers or cellular phones. When you took photos you had to remove the film from the camera, put it in the little container that comes with the film, drop off the film to be developed and wait until they call you when the photographs are ready to be picked up. Well, when my mother brought the photographs home we were all shocked after what we saw in the middle of that tornado. I remember bringing one of the photographs to school for show and tell. The look on my teacher's face and everyone else who saw it was just as shocking as was my family. The photo is on my personal Facebook wall cover under my name, as well as on my business page cover and my group page cover under "Angel Christian Needs", if you wish to send me a friend request and/or join my group to see it.
