Wait, so Andrew has a brother named Ben? So, if he ever has a kid, that kid will have a Spider-Man for a father and an uncle Ben? Brilliant.
Hahaha!
in the comic book Peter Parker has a clone, which he considers as a brother, also named Ben
I think this comment was one of your glorious purposes. Wasn't it? 💙❤
@@skstar3475 yup! Of course it was! 😂❤️
Congratulations, you have won the entire comments section!
I don't know why the heck I shed a tear when Andrew gave his brother a major shout out and gave him a standing ovation from everyone in the room. I guess it was just his genuine kindness. He's a very charming and down to Earth person, I can sense that from him. He deserve all the recognition and success he has, and even more.
I'm crying too lol it's so heartwarming to see people give credit to the incredible medical staff that have been trying to keep this country alive whilst a far-too-large chunk of people who spit on him.
oh no, i thought i am being the melodrama here, but yes i shed the tears indeed, its amazing how he truly values what his brother done to the people who needs. He is a true hero man. Always appreciate the family who radiates comfortt
me too :')
same, bro!
Me too 🥺🥺🥺
“he’s a pulmonary- he’s a lung doctor” i love how Andrew chose simpler word to describe it

i was like “what’s that? Oh ok!” XD
Cause he realized his audience.... americans lol
He's right, a lot of people don't know what that means. I do but it was sweet of him to explain. He's very aware of people around him in general which is getting more and more rare these days. It's lovely to see.
I just find it funny that American medicine chose pulmonology and not pneumology
Seriously cannot believe he is 38 years old. He has aged like fine wine.
I'm the same age and probably look it. But he is so much more poised it seems like hes much older than me.
he looks like in late 20s or early 30s
@@har5814 Its funny. As you age, people look young and younger
He has one of those lean, boyish figures that hold up well into middle age (if not longer). And he seems like a very earnest, wholesome guy, which helps your face stay youthful (like Anne Hathaway)
because 38 is aged?? lol
Now _this_ speaks to the character of Stephen as a host. He _interviewed_ an actor, but he and his audience gave a _pulmonologist_ a standing ovation.
They gave Andrew a standing ovation, too.
@@47imagine It’s a show to laugh on, get over yourself I’m sure Andrews brother enjoyed himself
@@47imagine I'm sorry you don't understand late night shows.
@@47imagine Well said. Now I heart Andrew Garfield
@@trutle88 For f**k's sake, I don't care that Stephen was making jokes. I was responding to the original comment that was praising Stephen's character when I felt Andrew Garfield deserved more credit for leading everyone to cheer for his brother. That's all.
I have to say that I was surprised Colbert teased Andrew's brother about being bald, but I loved how Andrew turned it all around on a dime and reminded everyone of what's important: saving lives, not acting or late-night hosting.
Yes, Stephen really stepped in it. I wished he had just moved on but he kept going with it. I was really turned off by it.
Relax guys it's all discussed first hand. They wouldn't go into that deep if his family didn't allow Stephen to do so.
@@JoustingJosie Don't worry. What can and can't be said is all discussed beforehand. Besides, it was perfect set-up for mention he is a doctor. Otherwise, how would you have fit that into the conversation?
3:58 Andrew told his brother that it wasn't planned for them to joke about his brother's baldness though.

I laughed hysterically when Benjamin Garfield merely pointed to his father to explain how he lost his hair. lol
Andrew looks like he’s about to wet his rust velvet pants!
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Andrew is actually wearing Tom’s suit jacket and pants.

“My brother is a doctor, I’m just an actor.” Thanks Andrew. We all need to get things straight, I love movies as much as anybody else, but in real life there are a lot of people who are so much more important. It’s great that he can recognize it so simply and humbly.
"If doctors are so smart, why are there so many of them?" -the tiny man i see when i take enough pills
Everybody is important. Everybody has his role. Without art, society is dead. It is true that there is an artist worship that sometimes is too much in detriment of others, but lets not overcompensate by making the same mistake with a different name. Of course this is what happens when one of the fundamental pillars of culture is treated like just entertainment.
@@Dacre1000 life can go on without art. Life can't go on, in a pandemic of a virus that attacks your lungs, without a doctor to look after your fucking lungs.
Get perspective.
@@Dacre1000 believe me I agree art is important, I myself am a musician and an artist. But I have humility enough to understand that in matters of life and death, other professions and skills have precedence. Doesn’t mean art is useless, just that we give credit where it is due. Too often in our society we praise artists (that part is ok) and we forget so many other people with a lower profile who are so essential to our lives. I feel like the pandemic reminded us of that a little bit.
@@peachesandpoets yeah because when you were in lockdown you had medecine and science books to entertain you and get you out of your boredom.
So you're telling me that, somewhere in this world, there is an actual "Doctor Garfield"? Truly, this is the best timeline.
Technically... no. His actual name is Garfinkle not Garfield so that would be Dr. Garfinkle...
ruclips.net/video/J8ZOttyAs9Y/видео.html
@@jooginz I think Andrew was saying his family’s name was originally Garfinkle and at some point, a few generations before Andrew and his brother, it was changed to Garfield. Not that Andrew changed it to Garfield for a stage name or something. He calls his brother Benjamin Garfield.

COVID is not the best timeline.
I don't know if it was rude for Stephen to point out the age difference between Andrew and his brother based on physical appearance, but he did address probably what was all on our minds. Andrew then took, what felt like an embarrassing moment for the dude, and turns it into standing ovation praise from everyone in the studio for his brother and his work. I don't want to call it improv or a performance, but whatever that was, that was the best I've ever seen. It just shows how quick Andrew is and how much he loves his brother, bravo!
The love he has for his family is so beautiful! And his tribute to his mother just blew me away! 😭❤️
I get that some people don’t mind, and like to laugh at themselves, but to point out someone’s hair or balding just seems like a social faux pas. Imagine how awkward it would’ve been if his brother had a complex or didn’t like the comparisons being made with Andrew?
It’s usually discussed beforehand what’s going to be discussed on a late night show, and Andrew and his brother have probably come across this kind of joke before, like prince William and prince Harry. Not that serious.
@@zthetajulietta8184 yeah, imagine if he had cancer, that would make everyone sooo embarrassed so quickly
@@zthetajulietta8184 Yeah I truly hope Stephen got his permission to make that joke beforehand. It was surprisingly harsh of him lol (he would never say that to a female audience member, either).
And Andrew has such a considerate, empathetic soul, instead of seeing someone’s physical appearance, he sees the hard work they’re doing and how selfless they are. What a sweet guy.
It's so sweet how Andrew complimented his brother for being a hero while everybody was laughing at his baldness
Just met Andrew's brother, he saved my father's life in the ICU. Dr. Garfield looks nothing like Andrew but speaks in a very similar way. I cannot stress enough how fantastic a doctor he is
Yeah bro he saved my donkey 2 . Sweet guy
@@turkishwhiteout Haha I don't blame your scepticism mate. It is pretty unbelievable, was for me too. But for real, the Brompton heart hospital in London is where I met him. Was struck by how both brothers save lives - one in fiction and the other in reality and just felt compelled to come back to this vid and post. Didn't dare mention Andrew to him given the seriousness of his job, but I can confirm he's a good bit balder than Andrew :P
@@woody10198 ah fair enough! Ya seem like a decent bloke! Still skeptical but cheers mate !

@@turkishwhiteout Dw at all it's a good quality to have in life tbh haha. All the best to you mate, and I hope you and your loved ones won't ever need Andrew's bro 😆
It’s not often I’m caught by surprise by a late night interview, but this was not only so lovely and endearing, I actually learned something: Andrew Garfield is smart as hell and has a beautiful language, and his family are equally, if not more, endearing and impressive.
Agreed!
Colbert's interviews with Garfield are great every time
I stood up and clapped his brother as well
Oh yeah man. I don't typically watch many of Stephen's guests but Andrew Garfield is always a delight!
He has a beautiful language?
"He's a doctor and I'm merely an actor"
That's why I love Andrew❤
Kinda stung me to even watch his brother be called out for his hair loss. Hope it didn’t hurt him! So proud of Andrew for turning it around and praising his brother. What a cool dude. It’s no small feat to be a pulmonologist during covid.
We can look at it that way, or we can realize that most people were thinking in their heads, “oh that’s great. He must have been adopted because he looks nothing like his brother or father.” I personally love how Andrew literally jumped in to point out what his brother does and who he is. This man really loves his family 💯💯❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉
come on he wasn't "called out" people were just surprised bc they don't seem to look alike (masks don't help) and so it created an awkward pause, when Andrew pointed out the pause Colbert had no choice but to address it. But as you said Andrew saved the moment fast, so it's all good in the end
It's a comedy show. Lighten up!
Andrew did point out that being a doctor made his brother loose his hair... So basically Andrew is proud of his brother and doesn't care about appearances.
Why would it hurt?, especially when the culprit (Dad) was sitting next to him.
Genetics can sometimes be a bummer, but saying that he has a brilliant brain and character too, so swings and roundabouts i guess.
Andrew Garfield is 38 and still looks like he's in his 20s damn

Why everything Andrew Garfield is involved, becomes heartfelt and wholesome?

@Christina Solano , A *thousand* times, "yes!!"
Anyone else tear up when Andrew shouted out his brother and the audience gave him a standing ovation?
even when they were making fun of his brother for his baldness, he manages to turn it around and make the entire room give a standing ovation for his brother. i love this man.
Andrew is always the most relaxed on Stephen’s show.. it’s clear they enjoy each other’s company..
It's the kissing! ;)
...but also, Graham Norton.
Lol Stephen looked annoyed after Andrew called him out for the jacket touching
I got the opposite vibes, that they don't like each other or at least they didn't by the end of the clip.
i love how andrew keeps talking about his brother at so many places he goes and acknowledges how great work he does
andrew is clearly so proud of his brother and it warmed my heart that the audience gave benjamin a standing ovation even tho they had just laughed at him seconds earlier lol
His poor brother been through hell the last two years
Wow, his brother is a doctor. One son is a great actor that entertains us and makes us smile the other is a doctor saving lives and looking after us.
their parents must be so proud, in fact his father in the audience must be so happy watching andrew here
Both of the bothers save us. Andrew helps us smile, and helps us mentally. Ben saves us physically. and I thank both of them for saving us.
My favorite part is at 3:26 when the camera cuts to the brother we can see the father holding his hand almost comforting him under all this attention. Even though he’s a grown man his father is showing him this affection publicly is just so heartwarming. They were laughing at him until that point so it looks like the father assures him that it’s just a joke.
Dude, the comments on his brother's appearance are uncalled for. Why does he think this is okay? I'm so glad Andrew turned that around and commended his brother.
Was in poor taste!
It was very rude.
People hate fake hosts and then this happens and they think it’s “of poor taste”
It was just jolly good fun, lighten up.

Andrew's face when everyone gave his brother standing ovation was so wholesome... I love this man
I love this, Andrew bigging up his big bro! Making us all realise that doctors and nurses and worked tirelessly during this pandemic and are amazing!
This was lovely all around, from Andrew's genuine, giggly delight in being with Stephen, to the paeon to his brother and anecdotes about his family.
I love how he spoke up for his brother. He must have been saving so many lives through the pandemic, risking his own life to do so. That's a real hero.
The more I listen to this guy talk, the more convinced I am that he is a unicorn. he is just fantastic in tick tick boom.
The fact Andrew mentioned so much about his brother. Is so beautiful and Andrew 🥺
Not going to lie, I got a little choked up when Andrew gave such a lovely shout out to the work his older brother does as a pulmonary doctor. My older brother works in infectious diseases and has also been waist deep in saving lives these last few years, so that really pulled at my heart strings. Thank you, Andrew, for reminding us all of who and what is really important.
so your brother is like House M.D.
Honestly this was one of the best interviews/ videos I’ve ever seen. Funny, informative, emotional.
How exactly was this “one of the best interviews you’ve ever seen”? It was merely silly talk. Go watch many many more interview videos and you’ll be able to discern actual really good interviews vs. just patter for the camera.

How Andrew completely changed the mood of the audience and the host about his brother, to show his strengths and contribution by being a doctor is extremely supportive and wholesome as brother👏🏼❤️

Andrew Garfield is a great actor in films and stage. Honestly, this guy is already a legend in his own right.
Stephen just pointed out that he has acted with several A-listers. But that was nothing compared to how damn proud he is of his brother ♥️
the AFFECTION that he shows to his family, the audience, and stephen is so refreshing and lovely. such secure masculinity. it’s beautiful to witness 🥲
Why is no one talking about 0:35 when he points at his dad and brother and mouths „I love you“ twice? 🥺
I keep coming back to this interview because of the sweet moment they hold hands. Rarely seen on a talk show, so natural and caring. This is the kind of masculinity I look up to xx
I freaking love Andrew Garfield. What an absolute class act.
I like that while Andrew initially hesitated in the greeting part, like, "Are we hugging? ...Do I hug you?", when Stephen took the lead and embraced him Andrew gave him a _real_ , proper, tight hug back - none of this nonsense, 3-seconds-from-reach-to-release-&-then-pat-pat Man Hug[tm] business.
