      if a space is well designed as these tiny houses seem, to naturally gravitate towards you eliminate the superfluous trappings of the need for "more stuff" and focus on exactly
      what you need,,, this is the type of studio space i would love to have for writing and for art.

      Seeker Stories I believe envious is the word you are looking for. Jealous wouldnt make much sense at all used this way. Btw it would have been cool to get a rough estimate of the total cost of the project as well. I lve near Truckee, CA, and while it sits on 40 acres, im wondering the house, property, chairlift, and any other bills Mike has. Other than my nitpicking awesome video. Mr. Basich was raised well by his parents. He is very wise beyond his years and an inspiration for a young guy like myself. Thanks to mike and your crew for sharing. Ill see to it that this video goes viral within the next 48 hours. :) -T

      Travis Thoeni Dude I live near Truckee as well, we should see if he is on air bnb. This dude is on the right path. As your question about costs it sounds like he has taken a smart route with his earnings from snow boarding and probably has solid connections in the snow world. His photo skills are on point also, so I would bet he makes good money with that. Living a good exhistance.

    A few years ago I moved from a big city, into a tiny house..planted fruit trees and got rid of all debt. It's an amazing feeling to realize 'stuff and possessions' don't make you happy... but freedom from it does.

      I have access to a cabin on a few acres, and what I didn't hear in the interview is how the dream of living isolated kinda fades after a few days and weeks. We as people need interaction-which is probably why he built a ski-lift! haha so cool.

    • @dawni1861
      @dawni1861 9 лет назад +1

      D Armon true! I'm sure he has tons of friends who 'visit' often if not to just use the ski lift. Wonder what a gf would think of living there?
      I love to see people build things like this.. the creativity involved is fascinating to me.

    • @steamengineer100
      @steamengineer100 9 лет назад +2

      I've met many people living this life style. I can tell you exactly how they feel. People need more social interaction with just friends and such. But its awesome for a weekends and sabbatical. Building small-nice cabins is a sweet idea, And it really is fun as it seems, to build. the reason its not more popular now is because contractors make very little profit from small structures. Their are lots of forest service cabins a person can rent cheap here to get a taste of the wilderness here! You can reserve it on-line.

    Only an extreme egomaniac wouldn't enjoy living in this house. Big houses are OVERRATED by a wide margin. (I can afford to live however I want, so it's not sour grapes about finances).
    Fair warning, though. The establishment that depends on people being in extreme debt all the time is going to start having an extreme hard-on for this off-grid, micro-house movement if it gains much more momentum. This guy will be OK because he owns a lot of land and he can pretty much do as he pleases. In wealthier, more heavily populated areas they will take extreme zoning measures to make sure this tiny house movement doesn't catch on any more than it has. The potential for declining tax bases scares the establishment shitless not to mention mortgage lenders, insurance companies, etc, etc, etc.

    • @id104335409

    • @ImAChristianFirst
      @ImAChristianFirst 8 лет назад

      That is my concern is the ridiculous zoning measures and minimum square ft requirements of building. That basically forces people to spend a certain amount on housing. It doesn't help anyone but the people seeking money and power.

    • @YurimoHikashi
      @YurimoHikashi 7 лет назад +1

      Sorry but that's kinda rude. I'm not an egomaniac but I get extremely uncomfortable in small spaces, idk maybe I have a phobia of small spaces!? And my lifestyle and job requires space and lots of it. Please educate yourself and think before you say this sort of thing. People have many different preferences and requirements so please don't just blatantly judge them thanks.

    Usually you see celebs with big mansions and luxury sports cars and you become envious of their possessions. This envy I feel now feels a little healthier. I am envious of his lifestyle as opposed to his possessions (well, besides the little house). I remember feeling in sync with the Earth as a kid because I was always out in the woods exploring, pretending to be out surviving on my own and building a "home" with branches and stuff. I felt free. It was just me and the Earth out there. There was a beautiful telepathic connection. Now, my life is run by a clock, surrounded by people racing from one thing to the next, and I am lucky to have sunlight touch my skin during the week. This video is inspiring. I realize I have been dreaming of the wrong things this whole time. And this, to a lesser extent than he has here, seems to be a more realistic goal to strive for. To reclaim my soul that I left out in those woods as a kid.

      Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this The video is misleading and I no longer think what this guy is doing is cool. But what I thought was going on, living off the grid, still appeals to me.

    This guy is an inspiration to me. He has reached his apex of his skillset within the sport that he has loved to practice and do since being a tike. He has experienced the very definition of renown, and has managed to keep a transparent sight of what actually matters in his world.

    Exactly what I would do if I could afford it. That's besides the snowboarding because I can't snowboard nor ski. But snowshoeing would become my thing for sure, Thanks a lot for this fantastic video so now I know what to do in my next life.i do wonder about accidents or illness. How accessible are medical facilities, like hospital for example in case of bad luck. How is the loneliness? I am a dog person so I know how much a dog can fill that gap, but there is always a yearning for human companionship. I suppose friends are dying to visit often, so you are only alone if you choose to be. Great life!!!!!!!!!! I commend your parents who were obviously very special people.

    This is somewhat similar to a dream I have. I want to live in a house like that, on the side of a cliff or mountain in nature but looking over a small city or town. trees all around but a road heading down to said town or city.

    I like the pentagram design and the dog, but I've seen so many horror films that I would be scared to live out there so secluded by myself. On top of that, I'd get tired really quick of having to go outside every time I had to go potty.
