During Christmas 1983, I was in the 5th grade, and my cousins from France and Belgium came to visit us in NYC for two weeks. They knew more about breakdancing than me and this footage is maybe why (believe it or not, it was still rare to see footage of hip hop culture on television.) During the whole vacation I practiced with them in our families tiny apartment living room (we broke two lamps!!) but by first day of school after New Years, I was battling and crushing everyone in my Catholic school schoolyard!!
Yeah because This is a black dance but blacks got mad love for latinos especially in NYC. but rock steady taking out all those toys. Rip glidemaster. Nyc breakers
@@killerpretty not a black dance, a "street dance", many ethnic groups contributed, blacks dominated mcing, Hispanics dominated breaking and graffitti had a good mix, even a bunch of talented white kids (mr.freeze, seen, Tracy 168, etc.), It was never only a black thing...
Arthur Baker... Breakers Revenge circa 1984... British producer that started off in the Brit Jazz Funk scene then moved on to Electro and moved state side to produce on that scene for people like Afrika Bambata Necleus Warp 9 as examples.
Hot take but NYC Breakers were all one trick ponies. They all do the same moves in every video I've ever seen them in. This is why RSC was the superior group.
Color tv's were crazy expensive in Europe at that time. My cousins lived in Belgium and they didn't get a color tv until the late 80s. Hell, my family lived in NYC and we didn't get a color tv until 1985!!
In the song from Dire Straits- Money For Nothing during the chorus you hear them talkin about colored TV's like it's something luxurious and that was 1985
Super fresh! Glad this classic footage made it's way to the Internet!
Wow felt like 15 watching this video. Thanks for sharing greetings from a Venezuelan living in Canadá

Icy Ice was taking it to the next level. I never liked Kid Nice despite he was one of the founding members.
