CascaLonginess yeah maybe not the safest, it looked worst then it was. You can always wedge some wood between frame and body and also use a pry bar to bull the body mount out.
I also had to do this and my jack is on wheels so they started sliding, did yours do that as well? I feel like maybe a bottle jack would be a better way to jack up the body but they are all so small and short.
Thanks a bunch, local body shop asked for $1200 to install these mountings for my Ford Ranger 2003, I don't know if the ranger can be lifted that easy as the Jeep, but will take the risk
@@CardinalOffroad He said the pickup should stay at the shop for two days because he is going to remove floor carpets beside lifting the whole cabin. I will buy the parts and give this a try. Thanks again.
Great video. I’m thinking of purchasing my first Wrangler. Seller says she needs Shock Body Mount Replaced. What purpose does the Shock Body Mount serve? As a motorcycle guy, just not sure what this parts does or how safe the vehicle is with/without this repair done immediately.
Probably referring to the body mounts. They are what connects the frame to the body itself. There are different materials and brands and not hard to change as long as it’s not rusted out!
@@CardinalOffroad yes. I’m going to lift, replace rusted mounts and replace, cut out and reweld new metal. The removal and lift seems straight forward, but wanted to figure out how to reset tub properly before I get into more trouble. 3 mounts rusted totally out on driver’s side under step. 2 rusted out on passenger side. Rest seem good (decent)
So the easiest way is to remove all the bad mounts clean your frame up where you’re going to weld them back on at. Take your mount and attach to the tub with your body mount just like normal then set it all the way down on frame this way you know it’s lined up and weld it. As for getting the body right just measure of the frame on both sides til it’s even. They UCF makes body mounts that are stronger and easy to weld
@@Mumbles-iz7tl it’s not that hard. Main thing get all the frame cleaned up where you’re going to weld and make sure you have them bolted to tub so you know they line up
I'm sure it was fine, but watching you put your hand in there with that jack extended and the piece of wood tilting gave me a ton of anxiety.

David Whitby mine didn’t slide but I also had the jack out further so as I jacked it up it moved under the Jeep better if that makes sense.
I kept thinking it was going to kick back and drop the jeep right after getting punched in the chest by the wood log.
Me too.. this was like one of those "when good times go bad" shows..
Great video thanks for sharing I appreciate it. 💯👊🏼 going to do mine now. 🙏🏼
With that log leaning out like that on the jack Id be quick with the finger work too... 😬

Oh yeah ranger shouldn’t be any harder I wouldn’t think. Definitely save you a lot of money

Good video & love the coil over suspension you put on your jeep.
RUSTY JEEP thanks a lot!

Is your Jeep still riding smooth with these also is there any sound after installation?
Looking to do this. Do you recommend the kit you bought and what are they called/manufacturer?
Taking a chance on the bottom of the wood to slip off the jack!
35 ft Lb.. your holding a
(inch lb ) torque wrench right 😅
How did they work?
What about body mounts for 99 xj?
Thanks.,.
That block of wood is not far from kicking out and crushing your ribs into your heart, and the jeep falling on you about a foot and that is not good.
nice video how many inch dod you got is not the 2.4 ? . thanks beautiful Jeep
Just a one inch. Anything over that I think looks funny in my opinion
@@CardinalOffroad thanks so much for the reply and yes 100% is true 1 inch perfect i appreciate your reply thank you i got the full kit 1 inch .. 👍🏻
Where did you buy it I need to replace mine?
I think I purchased them from Summit racing
were can someone get replacement body mounts for a Jeep liberty, I searched all over the damn place with no luck ..
Best option is to just get on google. Should be a few different brands to choose from. That’s how I ordered mine.
I hate to burst your bubble but I think you should use the old washer with a built on bushing
I have to patch my body mount support, but tub has shifted 1/2”. How do I straighten it?
Your tub moved? I’m guessing you have multiple mounts that have rusted out then?
