That and the whole Christmas topic… people really don’t want to stop eating pork or stop observing a pagan holiday. It’s wild to me. Thanks for this video brother.

    Paul rebuked Peter to his face, because Peter had been "eating with the Gentiles" before the Jerusalem party came to Antioch. Paul himself said to Peter, "You live like a Gentile..." (and Paul himself said he was not under Law. Scripture is so clear about this, all over the New Testament.

    Two of the four "beginner Laws" for the Gentiles are dietary Laws:
    "...but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols, and from whoring, and from what is STRANGLED, and from BLOOD." (Act 15:20)
    The rest of the Torah was expected to be learned over time:
    “For from ancient generations Mosheh* has, in every city, those proclaiming him - being read in the congregations every Sabbath." (Act 15:21)
    *Moses is referenced here as the author of the Torah, ie. the "Law of Moses."

      Though it has to be read in the totality of scripture for any prevailing exceptions that govern a subject. Paul himself knows that he is talking instrinsically about healthy/permitted foods and therefore doesn't necessarily need to explicitly state at that moment in time what is and is not acceptable to God in regards to food. Also, one can assume that his speech to these gentiles in the general course of things concerning foods would have been consistent with his understanding of God's expectations and his own adherence to them. In this way, we can understand that his gentiles being 'grafted in' to Israel explanation in Ephesians 2 shows that they and we and Jews today are to continue to follow His rules for eating which principally involves excluding those in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14.

    • @thecomingstorm9327
      @thecomingstorm9327 2 года назад

      Richard Paul didn't say buy UNCLEAN MEAT asking no question for your conscious sake, Christianity simply assumes Paul is saying when you go to the market pick up some mice, cats, bats etc. The context was Idolatrous temples gave the left over meat to markets. Paul was saying don't let your conscious bother you getting meat from the market [there conscious saying what if the meat came from a pagan temple]. Paul was telling believers you didn't worship an Idol and sacrifice an animal to it, God will not hold you accountable for buying meat at the market because you did not participate in temple Idolatry.
      This is no different than if a believe in the messiah walked through Arabia and needed food and bought some chicken sandwiches, they are not held responsible for whatever pagan sacrifices the Muslims did to that chicken before hand, if the Muslims sacrificed the chicken to 360 Idols in their Kaaba, and I later bought chicken sandwiches and it was from that chicken, I am not held accountable because I did not participate in worshiping the idols or sacrificing the chicken to them.
      However if I bought some cat meat or mice, I am held responsible for I have broken the law and eaten that which was unclean and forbidden to be eaten.

      @@GodsView1 I realize this is 4 months late ... just viewing this video now. I agree with your response, but to build upon your response, have you also considered that 1 Cor 10:25 is in the context of "Now concerning food sacrificed to idols" (chap 8:1)? Just like the context of Mark 7 or Acts 10 shows it is not about the dietary instructions, I would suggest that the context of this verse is "food" sold in the market that may have been sacrificed to an idol .... and non-Jewish believers who have left pagan worship should not consider an idol anything (this also syncs with Romans 14) So the conclusion I would come to is that the main issue wasn't clean vs unclean, but was this clean meat (beef, lamb, gazelle, etc) that is sold in the market sacrificed to an idol? Ultimately, we shouldn't consider an idol anything therefore not letting it get in the way of eating a steak, yet at the same time, show love to a brother or sister who still struggling with making the distinction and refrain if they are not at the same place you are in their walk.

      But, Paul would never call pork food. Just like I might tell my girls they can eat anything off the desert buffet, but they know that doesn't mean to eat napkins. “By this pork I hath not eaten, so I am saved.” Is what you don’t want to get out of it. The more I do for my salvation, the more pride it can give. I’d rather trust in Christ and if Christ doesn’t want me eating these things, I won’t, but I don’t think people are going to hell bc of a meal they had before judgment day, just as I don’t think a person changing for Christ will die and hear “You were on your way, but you never got to change your diet to the biblical diet, so you’re going to hell.” just as I don’t think a person who isn’t trusting in Christ may make a diet change based solely on the Bible just bc they found it helps with their digestive systems, is getting into Heaven. It’s based on the heart, not the stomach, which is why I tend not to get too deep on non salvific topics. And if all laws must be met to be considered a follower of Christ, then there isn’t a single follower of Christ on this plane, for there isn’t a righteous man upon the earth. That is why we NEED Christ, we NEED the Lord’s mercy! Nothing you do is good enough to make it to heaven, we all fall short of the Glory of God. I’m not saying not to change where the Lord calls for it. I’m changing my diet rn: not bc I believe it’s going to save me or keep me from going to hell, but bc of my love for Christ and this temple (my body) he formed for me. Loving prayers and blessings to all, in Yeshua’s name!
    (DISCLAIMER: don’t follow me: follow Christ. I’m a man subject to fault and imperfection, my words may have mistake/misunderstanding between them. 🙏)

    3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
    4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
    In other words: Observe the dietary laws or don't observe the dietary laws be sure not to judge. You are judging God's servant whom God is able to make stand.
    Galatians 2:
    15 Indeed, we are Jews by birth and not “Gentile sinners,” as they are called. 16 (A)Yet we know that a person is put right with God only through faith in Jesus Christ, never by doing what the Law requires.
    This debate is a clear example of how spiritual things cannot be discerned by logic.

    The best answer I've heard is that the laws that were given ONLY to the nation of Israel are not universal law for Christians, but the laws God judged every nation for we ARE accountable for.
    If we must keep all or nearly all of Jewish law then Paul's lessons on conviction and freedom in relation to matters of the law would give me a sense of heresy. Since his explanations of conviction in eating various foods, setting aside different holy days, and (most famously) circumcision aren't seen as heresy it makes the most sense that those laws with only pertained to Hebrews are no longer grounds for separation.
    Reading the minor prophets explains very clearly what permanent moral laws God judges everyone for; they're not penalized for eating different foods but ARE penalized for torture, unjust war, brutality, and sexual immorality.

    Torah observant advocates need to test this teacher's assertions against the very text he reads. In Genesis 9 - there are actually THREE different topics whereby God includes "all moving things that live":
    1. In verse 2 God says the fear and dread of man will be upon all moving things that live (all animals).
    2. In verse 3 God says all moving things that live (all animals) are for food.
    3. In verses 9-11 God makes a covenant with all moving things that live (all animals).
    So, IF this teacher's assertion is correct that verse 3 only applies to unclean animals, then we need to be hermeneutically consistent with the other passages - and it would make NO SENSE that verses 2 and 9-11 would apply only to unclean animals.
    Therefore, all related verses must be about the same thing, i.e. ALL ANIMALS.

      I would agree with your perspective on soldiering and do understand it could be implied either way but Messiah taught us that he was the good shepherd and was not only to gather his flock who heard his voice but another fold who were not his and bring them into One. Paul mentions many times that we are one in Messiah Jew and gentile, that the gentiles were once alien to the covenants of God but now have been brought near and made one, the whole Romans 11 tree analogy says that we are grafted into that same root Messiah. Not two separate trees or one tree with two different trunks but one tree and we are all branches pulling our nutrients from the same root. One vine. One face one baptism one God. From the beginning God made Adam and Eve to become one flesh. The entire scope of the Bible is based on oneness with God including Messiah and the Father. I do not believe that God gave instructions / Torah to be done away with as soon as Messiah dies and ascends but then comes back according to Isaiah 2 and teaches Torah to the gentiles when he reigns in Jerusalem. Or Isaiah 66 with Shabbat, New Moon and Sukkot and that the gentiles are to join in with Messiah as one. To dissect a scripture or to and say that those are for the Jews and not the gentiles is missing the entirety of what Messiah has done for all believers in Him. I viewed it the same way you did for 30 years and when I was 55 God removed the scales from my eyes to understand oneness. Keep praying brother, we all need our eyes open to so much nowadays. May God bless and keep you.

    Romans 14:1 "Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
    5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
    10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister[a]? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:
    “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
    ‘every knee will bow before me;
    every tongue will acknowledge God.’”[b]
    12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
    13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
    19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.
    22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin."

    The fact that certain commandments are not pushed verbally by Christ doesn’t mean they aren’t applicable. Christ taught Torah in its entirety. That new believers were allowed to come to Synagogue without first being circumcised just means that someone with no prior upbringing in a religion would run away when asked to cut off their foreskin. It was understood they would learn dietary laws and the rest of Torah and they would come to want to obey and even be circumcised if they weren’t already.

How much sense would it make for Christians to understand that a Jewish woman is ceremonially unclean during her period but to assume that does not apply to Gentiles women. There appears to be a gross and perhaps intentional misunderstanding of why God gave us the Old Testament. But that’s a topic for another day.

      I've been doing it for many years. You just do the best you can within reason. Some people can go overboard, but if you are just mindful about not directly consuming unclean animals you are doing okay. You get used to it, and it's really becomes not that big of a deal. When it comes to restaurants, you can simply call and ask what they use to cook their food if that might be a concern. You'd be surprised to learn that most places are pretty "clean." I don't get candy and stuff that has gelatin, but plenty of it doesn't. There are also kosher versions of certain candies that you can order online and such. If you want more info, a great book on this topic is J.K. McKee's "Messianic Kosher Helper."

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the best way to respond would be to explain what Romans 14 actually means. In Romans 14, the "weak" refers to individuals who abstain from consuming (biblically clean) meat or wine bought in the Roman marketplace due to concerns about its dubious ritual purity status. This uncertainty stems from the possibility that the meat or wine might have been offered to an idol, leading some believers ("the weak") to avoid partaking in such things altogether. As in 1 Cor 8-10, Paul rejects the notion that food purchased from the marketplace is koinos (Rom14:14 often translates this as "unclean," but that is misleading. A better translation would be be "defiled" since Paul is addressing the notion of food being rendered ritually defiled by idols). That's who Paul is referring to as "the weak," not those who obey God's explicit food laws. See chapter 2 of my book "Remember the Sabbath." I also have a video going through Romans 14 on 119 Ministries' channel.

    In Is. 65-66 sets out the last days judgement of Israel to repay Israel 'both your iniquities and your fathers' iniquities together.' This judgement would be when Israel would miss out on the wedding feast she was invited to in Is. 25:6-8, as stated in Is. 65:13-15, when she would be put to death and God's true people would be given a new name. The Lord discussed and developed this material in Mat. 8:10-12 where Israel 'the sons of the kingdom' would be cast outside as the gentiles come in, and Mat. 22:1-14 when 'the king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city' and Mat. 23:29-39 when Israel would be repaid for filling up the measure [of the sin] of their fathers, of shedding human blood on the land, by means of the desolation of the Second Temple in the Lord's generation. This would be the wedding when Israel's foolish would be unprepared and have the door shut on them, Mat. 25:1-12.
    Given this commentary and development of Is. 65-66 in the gospel, we can review the meaning of the judgement upon those who sacrifice and eat pigs. Israel's sin in Is. 65:2-5 is of those who thought that they were observing Torah correctly, but who are presented as offering ritually unacceptable sacrifices to YHWH. They were rebelling against YHWH while they thought that they were keeping his Torah. Their conduct is said to be offering sacrifices to YHWH which YHWH rejected as unclean, and their conduct that they claimed was holy, and holier than the others, was in fact iniquity to be repaid against them. Is. 66:3 makes this connection explicit: those who made grain offerings (i.e. according to Torah's ritual requirements), were offering pig's blood, not literally but metaphorically. The conduct that Israel would be repaid for, 'both your iniquities and your fathers' iniquities together' (Is. 65:6-7), was shedding the human blood of God's servants in Israel, which YHWH would repay Israel for, by shedding the blood of the bloodshedders, to atone for his land and his people (Deut. 32:43 (see NIV), Mat. 23:29-39. This context and commentary, therefore, explains that the true issue in Isaiah is not ritual purity about food and sacrifices but righteousness in matters of life and death. The diet of concern is not pigs flesh, but rather the predatory and deadly behaviour of the unclean animals that man was not to copy and that the animals themselves were spoken of as being redeemed from when 'the wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox' which is equivalent to 'they [i.e. the people, not the animals] shall not hurt or destroy
    in all my holy mountain' (Is. 65:25).
    Is. 65-66 explains itself well enough. It would be fulfilled when brother in Israel would rise up against brother, in the name of YHWH, yet YHWH would put them to shame (Is. 66:5). This was to be fulfilled when the Lord's words came to pass, when the Lord would bring not peace to the land of Israel but the sword of war (Mat. 10:34), and when 'a person's enemies will be those of his own household' (Mat. 10:36). For this sin of brother rising up against brother in the name of YHWH to put his brother to death, YHWH would cause the city to go into uproar, and YHWH would come to the temple and repay his enemies there (Is. 66:6).
    The material about animals in the bible is loaded with symbolic meaning. Man is to rule over the animals, and not to become like an animal, particularly a predatory animal (which Torah designates unclean). When men rule over other men, and when they take human life, they become unclean animals. It is then the predatory animals inside us that need to be kept down, the animal crouching at our door, the animal of sin, Gen. 4:7. It is this that is the deceptive snake, telling us that we can dominate and rule over other men. It was these animals that came to dominate men in the form of political kingdoms that filled the land with violence and bloodshed. The flood was sent to destroy these beasts, and the men with them. The salvation of the animals on the ark speaks the word that the men had become worse than the animals, they had become predatory beasts on the land. The covenant with Noah was made with the animals, that they would fear man, and to hold the animals to account for shedding human blood. This accounting and repayment of the animals for shedding human blood, like the flood, was to be a mass judgement event, actually the second flood, to judge those who shed the blood of YHWH's servants, as set out in Deut. 32; Dan. 9; Is. 2-4; 25-27; 65-66 and elsewhere in Israel's last days at the fall of the Second Temple. It was the flood that would destroy the house of Israel, Mat. 7:24-27; 24:37-39. It was the dragon of Second Temple Israel that would pour out the flood of water to persecute the woman (true Israel, the new Israel), yet the wrath and flood would be absorbed by the land of Israel instead, Rev. 12. Those who destroyed the land of Israel would themselves be destroyed when the city of Jerusalem was judged for shedding the blood of the prophets (Rev. 11). Then would the beast be destroyed. The destruction of the beast, the carnivorous unclean animal, would then become the pleasing sacrifice and the food of the feast, Ez. 38-39; Rev. 19:17-21.
    The dietary laws need to be read in their context about what God is truly concerned about: matters of life and death, and the gospel and the kingdom of God.

    Hey David. Overall great video and I agree with your stance. I want to say that the remes argument is weak. I do agree that we can't assume remes means everything but we also can't assume it means clean only. But I agree that context implies that it might have meant only clean. I also agree that it's overall a moot point bc of the later commandments as well as your other points. Remes seems to be distinguished from wild beasts but also from livestock in the creation account. But they could potentially overlap or even all be somewhat synonymous if it's like poetic repition but I think the truth is probably we don't really know exactly which animals qualify as remes. I just would hate for anyone to hang the whole debate on the remes point. Anyways cheers Yah bless you

    Jesus mentions David when He ate of the bread that was only lawful for the priest to eat. He didn’t say David was wrong. Sojourners were meant to follow the Jewish customs. They didn’t live like pagans amongst Gods chosen people. Pagan outsides Jewish land where not required to follow any Jewish customs but their different way of living was to point to God just as we Christians do today. The way we live should point people back to God and Jesus Christ 🙏❤️

    I simply tell people Yeshua was saying that the food itself is irrelevant because what matters is the decision from the heart. The act of eating unclean meat or committing adultery is a symptom of something evil affecting the heart. Either the person is unsaved with no fear of God, or going through a moment of weakness, or believe what they're doing is not a sin hence a deception. And with Peter's vision I say it had nothing to do with food but Peter's prejudice against non-Jews. I then say pork meat is symbolic of the teachings of the world, and clean meat of God's teachings, and that when I choose to not eat pork at a buffet it reminds me to choose God's teachings to sustain me and not the world's. It acts as a kind of ritual, the same mentality is applied to doing communion.

    One thing that God made clear to me is to not be impress with the educational biblical background of men, men with such education tend to interpret Scriptural to fit their own view instead of depending on the Spirit of God to enlighten one's mind with a true understanding of what God made clear when he first spoke.
    With the above being said, what brown needs to understand is that God did not give the law to the Gentiles because he chose a people to separate them from the Gentiles who were lawless, and for them to one day teach the Gentiles about the law of God.
    It is clear from Romans 2:12 that for as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. The first part of this verse is stating that if you have no law you will not be judge, you will just perish and yes, the lawless will be cast into eternal damnation. How will God judge the lawless being that they have no laws? They will perish because they wanted nothing to do with God's law.
    He also added, even as as the green herb. Poison ivy is a green herb, does this mean that one can eat poison ivy? No! Therefore, it is clear that when it states every moving thing that liveth shall be for meat for you it is talking about clean animals.

    Are Christians living under the law of Christ like Apostle Paul in 1Cor9:21 or are we living under the law of Moses?

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog  2 года назад +2

      According to NT scholars, the law of Christ IS the law of Moses as interpreted by Christ. Paul literally equates the "law of Christ" with the "Law of God," which itself is equated with the Law of Moses in the NT, LXX, apocrypha, and Josephus. I explain in this short video: ruclips.net/video/TyXAgoDOksM/видео.html
